Congratulations Hralyk on making our campaign's 1000th post!
Jordan's summoned elemental strikes the sinspawn, but it's merely distracting it from the real threat. Hralyk swings his massive falchion with such might that it cleaves through the ancient abomination!
End combat.
Despite the party's best efforts, nothing of interest can be found in this jail.
Where to?

Zeltyieli Alikathesu |

Zeltyieli prepares to lend Telka his doorsight, then winces as she opens the door. Not the most prudent of explorers.... Sinashakti save us from his rushing in...
He slides the shortbow from his shoulder, .. though it never hurts to work to save ourselves, either...

![]() |

Beyond the door, a hallway that goes either north or south. To the south, you reach a room that seems to have once served as guard barracks, but the beds and other furniture here have long since crumbled into almost unrecognizable ruins. Further south, a flight of stairs goes even deeper into the Crow, into another level.
To the north, three long cell block corridors extend out from a central guardroom, each hall featuring numerous iron cell doors. This area appears to be derelict.
You have completely explored that level of the dungeon. Do you wish to tie loose ends and go back to see King Zuuga before you go deeper down, where the Shards appears to lead you?

![]() |

Ramenhotep votes to tie up the 'mission' with the 'King' before going too far.
"Eh? Only way is down from here, yeah? Let's go back to this King and tell him what's for before he gets antsy and launches an assault on our backside! Heh!"

Hralyk the Crooked |

Hralyk feels an urge to continue down, but stops himself from speaking up. What do I care how long it takes to find this shard? "It doesn't matter to me..." he says, but his heart - for some reason - isn't in it.

![]() |

The decision to go back and see "King" Zuuga is then made. Your return is met with a surprised look from the mite high-up.
"What? Who are you? What are you doing here?" he says with his nasal voice.

Hralyk the Crooked |

Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Hralyk holds up his hands to show that he is not threatening, then proceeds to try and deal with this development. "We spoke earlier today, King Zuuga, and you sent us on a mission. As you requested, we have retrieved your 'spare crown' from..." he sighs, frustrated that such ridiculous words have to flow from his mouth. "Clickylegs."

![]() |

Jordan translates Hralyk's words, thus conjuring a surprised look on King Zuuga's face. "Clickylegs? How do you know her name? That is my crown, but you're not worthy to touch it, surfacer. I shall call my executioner squad to deal with you unless you give it to me. Tremble, mortals!"

Jordan Andosano |

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Jordan does summon something, but it is a creature of earth and not an execution squad.
"You cannot threaten me. We are not afraid of you. I need to see the other circlet that goes with the one we found. This is not part of any crown, but magic trinkets."
MS 2 full round

![]() |

Seeing an elemental of his size surge from the earth, the mite King starts stuttering and hands Jordan his crown.
"V-v-very well, s-s-surfacer. Take it! I believe my loyal s-s-subjects require me for an important task." he says as he (courageously) runs away from you!
With proper inspection, these two bracers indeed match, and are a pair of bracers of armor +2, engraved with Thassilonian runes.
Do you wish to rest or to delve deeper? If you rest, where do you do so?

Jordan Andosano |

Jordan tries on the bracelets. Impressed with their powerful protection magic.
Not the magic I would have picked, but should be useful for now. If a magic user is often using the stat called armor class, that is never a good thing.

![]() |

Ramenhotep is ready to keep going if everyone else is willing. "Eh? C'mon! We can keep going and see what's below, right? Can't believe that little bugger up and ran off on us."

Zeltyieli Alikathesu |

Zeltyieli adds, "I just hope he stays run off, rather than setting up an ambush to get his petty revenge against whatever it is he thinks we did. Probably wise to watch our backs... At least until he forgets about us, considering his mental state. "

Hralyk the Crooked |

Hralyk nods, "I am ready to continue into the depths of the Crow, but if the rest of you need to resupply, I see no danger in returning later."
In the future, Jordan, I can intimidate fairly well (+9), so don't feel like you have to waste a spell...

Zeltyieli Alikathesu |

Zeltyeli says, excitedly, "But there's more exploring to do!". He then pauses and says more calmly, "I mean, I can proceed. I still have much of my powerful magic left, and am unhurt."

![]() |

New map uploaded and ready, then.
You descend into the depths of the Crow and reach a whole new level after the one you found Clickylegs in. After a flight of stairs, you find yourself facing a door which you quickly decide to open after checking for traps and finding nothng. A red statue of a beautiful woman armed with a large ranseur - Runelord Alaznist of course - stands in the center of the chamber beyond. Slimes cakes the floor, where a bloated maggot the color of old pus with a vaguely humanoid head, twisting horns and a fang-filled maw crawls. It attacks as soon as you open the door-

Knowledge (planes): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14 Does it take full cold damage?
I'm presuming it has some sort of resistance based on its abyssal nature so I'll post my action accordingly and not bother to cast frostbite.
"Bah! Abyssal larvae are the worst! Simply the worst!"
The magus enchants his quarterstaff and moves in to smack it!
Swift arcane pool for +1

As Telka starts singing, both Hralyk and Zeltyieli close in on the larva, but miss it.

Zeltyieli Alikathesu |

Zeltiyeli starts to step forward, only to stop as a creature of earth and stone rises out of the floor before him, Well, that works too, he thinks and then swings again with his scarf.
Bladed Scarf: 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 1 = 24 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

Jordan Andosano |

After summoning the elemental, it rushes to charge the creature. The elemental flails wildly, not coming close.
Jordan moves a little closer, but lets the others do the fighting.
stoney attack/damage: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 91d6 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
moves in

![]() |

Zeltyieli's masterful strike lashes at the bloated worm's vile flesh, letting horrendous ichor seep from the wound. The larva strikes once again at Hralyk, chewing off bits of the flesh covering his arm. The wound is all the more painful from the acid left by the abyssal teeth.

Jordan Andosano |

The elemental attacks again.
att/damage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 181d6 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
Jordan moves closer out of curiosity.
15' away. -- on phone will move to 3 squares away soon. 2 rounds left on elemental (Summoner's charm)

![]() |

Jordan's elemental smashes into the bloated flesh, crushing the larva's head and ending its pitiful life!
End combat.
The inspection of the room reveals little, except that the ranseur held by the statue is an actual weapon embued with a magical aura.
It's a +1 cold iron ranseur that could be pried off the statue's hands with a successful DC 18 Strength check.
Three doors are there: one leading east, another south, the last one west.

Zeltyieli Alikathesu |

Zeltyeli looks over his companions, surveying the damage and pausing, I wonder if whatever strange magic will wash over Hralyk again.... or if I should heal him...

Telka Beast-Talker |

Telka looks up curiously at the magic weapon, and attempts to free it.
She looks for defenses first, suspicious of something so valuable being left untouched for so long.
perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Seeing nothing to alarm her, she proceeds to yank.
Str.: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
...and frees it on the first try.
Kaboom?

![]() |

The weapon easily comes off without further trouble. It is of magnificent make, obviously of Thassilonian origin. Its haft is engraved with magical runes resembling those you saw on the Siccatite doors earlier. Its edge is made of cold iron, a metal known to be particularly efficient to fight demons. Now that you're inspecting it futher, you see that the Thassilonian runes form a word, or rather a name: "Consuming Wrath".
As previously said, it's a +1 cold iron ranseur, though there might be more to it than that...

Telka Beast-Talker |

Telka cannot read the runes but can feel the quality. "It seems to be a fine weapon, but perhaps it would be better in a warrior's hands." Telka offers the polearm to Hralyk.

Hralyk the Crooked |

Down to 6/31 HP after rage ends.
As the larvae shudders its last, Hralyk's rage ends. Immediately, however, his eyes roll back in his head once more. His mouth utters several incantations, healing himself; eventually, though, it stops and he is silent.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
His eyes refocus on the larvae, then, as he examines his wounds, his face betrays his confusion. How can this be? I felt the beast tear my flesh, and I was sure that its acid burned me horribly. He looks to the others, and sees them looking at him. Ever prideful, however, he does ask them what happened, unwilling to admit his weakness.
"Let's continue." he says gruffly, heading to the western door.

![]() |

You reach a room where a thirty-foot-diameter, softly glowing circle of runes, shimmers on the floor. What appears to be a single flickering flame burns with no apparent source of fuel in the middle of the room. Heaps of ash and cinders cover the ground, but no lifesigns can be found. A passage continues to the south, first to a door in the western wall, then to a corridor leading further south.

Zeltyieli Alikathesu |

Zeltyieli asks, "Anyone have an idea what might have caused the ash? Some sort of magical trap, with the flame as bait?"
