School is out next week. I'll be around (no exaggeration, the stack of papers I have to correct is more than 2,000 pages long.) I might not be quite as fast as normal, but I'll be here. As always, if I'm the player and I'm taking too long, either message me somehow or bot me.

Vaughn Elliot |

I'm vacationing out of town the week of 4/24, back on Sunday night 5/1. I'll be sporadic, but still posting. I'll have phone only, so no moving of any pogs for me--someone will have to do that for me.
if I'm slow, someone bot me, using whatever resources are reasonable.

Serithial |

Hey guys, field trip today. MY posting will be pretty scarce.

Serithial |

Hey guys, just giving you a heads up now, but I'm going to be completely MIA from Thursday night to Sunday morning. Normally I find time to squeeze in a post or two, but I'm spending the weekend as one member of a 12 person relay team running about 200 miles from Boston to Provincetown. We do it because we're crazy, but my fiancee's mother past away from cancer, so we run to support the ACA.
I'll be back to posting ASAP, but I figured I'd give you the heads up now.

"Doctor N" |
Hey everyone!
I'm gonna be going out of town the afternoon of the 20th (Friday) and I probably won't be back with an opportunity to post until Sunday evening (the 22nd). I have never been to an event like this before, so I don't know how much opportunity I will have to post.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Serithial |

Almost a week since the GM has posted. Everything okay?

Serithial |

No worries! Glad things are okay

Hey guys, unexpectedly AFK until 1900 EST. (Field trip duties got switched around.)

Serithial |

Hey everyone. I just got word that our network at school is down tomorrow (my grades are due Friday, good thing I didn't procrastinate!) I'm also closing on a house and moving this weekend.
I'll try my best to post what I can, when I can. I'll be back to my normal speed Monday, even moreso since my students will be taking finals.

EvilMinion |
Hey guys, just to clarify, on my temporary assignment. =)
Do you guys want me to move things along (relatively) quickly (ie: if someone doesn't post with 24 hours, to 'bot' them or delay them or the like?)
I realize this fight's been going on for a long (real life) time, so some might be eager to get it in their rear-view mirrors.
Let me know, and I'll oblige.

Serithial |

Still moving into my new house. Sorry guys. Back to normal tomorrow

Vivilaas |

Selkania, I know it's in your character's nature, but DO NOT stabilize me right away. We either likely need you to try killing it or as Viv yelled, just run.

Serithial |

IF we get out of this without a TPK:
1. We're way outmatched. This is not the first fight that has dragged with us getting our heads handed to us. We need to dramatically upgrade our gear. We steal everything, including the kitchen sink, and sell it. We don't even have complete masterwork equipment.
2. We may have wandered in the wrong direction. Sure it's metagaming, but it is a game. We might have taken a wrong turn at Albuquerque.
3. We switched to gang tactics too late. We should have been in "everyone aid one of us" mode. Let's not make that mistake again.

Vaughn Elliot |

the high AC + DR is killing us.
on 1: I'm reminded of 8-bit theater when Thief had a huge bag over his shoulder in the town the pirates had already raided. When asked how he got that much swag...
"They took everything not bolted down. I did not make that distinction."
on 3: even with gang tactics, we aren't hitting hard enough to do the job. High AC + DR + multiple attacks = we is dead. blarg. Maybe I should carry a greatsword, until daggers do more damage (magical + specialization etc)

Serithial |

I have ONE more acid.

EvilMinion |
So that ends my first foray into PbP gming... 5 rounds is all I get! =) At least I didn't kill anyone.
(AC 20 (17 touch!) with DR 5 magic and slashing, lots of resistances/immunities, and four attacks can be a challenge at level 2)
Am not sure if the swords are magical... (thought they were just masterwork, but one of them was glowing briefly at the start of the fight, so perhaps there's more to them than their exotic nature.)
You guys might be on hold now, 'til Lari gets back into it, as I've no materials to relay any other information.

Serithial |

Thanks for the help! It is greatly appreciated.

Serithial |

Also, if that was a BBEG, there's a solid chance we completed a chapter, which means a solid chance we hit level 3? MAybe it's just wishful thinking.

Serithial |

Level up complete:
Took Technologist feat. It fits the character completely.
Took Extra Rogue Talent (Resiliency) since we're in trouble a lot.
BAB went up, and I now add DEX to rapier damage. Danger Sense will be a good scouting help. 24 HP is still not great, but Level 4 will be 35 HP.
Classic Thief skills all went up.

Vaughn Elliot |

Lvl completed. Took EWP(TBD)
L3 feat: dodge
Gain Defensive Flurry +1 AC when dual-wielding
Skills: escape artist & climb

Ray the Unbounded |

Ray's updated to 3rd level.
At the moment, he's taken Technologist, but I could see a revision on that based on how a PM with Lari resolves regarding the blackblade.
The blackbade has arrived, so Ray's roleplay will finally involve the cloth bundle he's been tilting his head towards, or possible something else. This remains TBD for a day or so (also based on PMs).
Ray took Power Attack, since it seems like we need to hit some things harder to overcome their DR. Ray's blade will encourage Ray to use that instead of the bec de corbin since in the blade's views, it's "more badass" that some polearm. Thus Ray should now be more effective as he'll be using a 1H weapon to spellstrike/spell combat vs just being some schmoe with a polearm.
Ray added two spells to his book: corrosive touch, shield
He'll prep true strike and shield for the next delve since he bit the dust with the zombie so he's looking to address the deficiencies exhibited in that fight (not hitting often, not hitting hard enough and getting hit too much).
Skill points went into Acrobatics (for the magic 3), Perception and Knowledge Engineering.

Vivilaas |

I will update Vivilaas by tomorrow (Tuesday at the latest). Sorry, was away visiting parents this weekend.
Will be taking the Technologist feat as her bonus feat, as she is starting to examine and learn more about the new devices and 'magic' around us. I'm also considering picking up enlarge person as her additional spell known, which should help out at least Vaughn and Ray when needed :)
Still have no idea exactly what types of 'regular' feats a psychic should need of course...

"Doctor N" |
@Vivilaas On my level 10 psychic, I did spell focus and greater spell focus (divination), spell specialization (in whichever mind thrust is the most recent), spell penetration and greater spell penetration, as well as additional traits for magical lineage and a trait that gives +2 CL for divination spells (you have to be an ethnically Varisian human to take that, though).
@Everyone Finished leveling!
Got more HP (up to 24 now)
Another spell per day
Ear-piercing scream and technomancy as spells known
Rapid Reload as my feat (finally can shoot every turn!)
Now have points in Climb, Knowledge (history) and (planes), Linguistics (learned Androffan)
Picked Technologist as my bonus feat

Vaughn Elliot |

Taking a little family vacation...my posting will be a little light until Thursday.

Vivilaas |

Right now I'd say Focus. One of your domains really asks for it and With your buff spells and such you have some thing to do even against the occasional magic-resistant thing at we'd see at this level.
Just IMO of course

Serithial |

I'm trying to dot my i's and cross my t's. I noticed that I missed out on a wealth calculation on the treasure sheet. How was that calculated, just a sixths of B2?

Serithial |

You are a generous and organized GM! I'm normally good with it, but I've.... spread myself thin with conventions and PbPs. GM, are you going to OGC?

![]() |

I haven't made any plans for OGC yet. I'm not 100% sure of my plans that weekend. If I do make it, I'll probably just do a day trip Friday or Saturday.
As for gear, it actually helps me out a bit, to get a better understanding of how your WBL stands and how I expect it to change. Having the actual AP in front of me also makes the task a lot easier.
If this adventuring day covers the amount of stuff I'd expect, you'll still be behind WBL, but the gap is narrowing. It looks like the AP will overcorrect and leave you ahead by the end of the book. The Hell's Rebels game I'm playing in is experiencing the same feast/famine dynamic.
While we've still got a fair amount left to do in this book, the end is within sight (especially if we can avoid any more long combats). At this point I do want to warn you that shopping opportunities will be limited in book 2 (without spending a decent amount of in-game time traveling to a major city/town). That means you may want to prioritize niche purchases over items that are fairly common (cloaks of resistance, etc.).
And in more exciting news for you, starting to scout out the treasure situation has lead to an important discovery: the zombie isn't coming back!
I thought that fully activating the dome required you to interact with something you haven't seen yet, but I misread things. The dome does now consistently project the alien sky. Once the Kasatha see their suns rise one final time, their souls can be at peace.
On a related note, beginning at level 4, Kasatha will be a valid language to learn through Linguistics. The notes you found in the geology lab contain enough analysis to piece it together. Of course, the notes are in Androffan, so you should probably know that first.

Vaughn Elliot |

One of the reasons I like a dagger wielded is because daggers are so ubiquitous...so hopefully we'll find some magical ones. I'd like to get some decent armor...

Khonnir’s Spellbook:
Level 3: Disable Construct, Dispel Magic, Fireball, Fly, Nondetection, Phantom Steed, Water Breathing
Level 2: Acid Arrow, Bull’s Strength, Flaming Sphere, Frigid Touch, Lead Plating, Pyrotechnics, Resist Energy, Web
Level 1: Alarm, Arcane Pocket, Corrosive Touch, Crafter’s Fortune, Floating Disk, Protection From Evil, Shocking Grasp, Unseen Servant
While you have to pay to scribe the spells into your book as normal, there’s no cost associated with accessing his book.
Doctor N and Ray can each pick one spell of each level to add to that list, with a couple thematic caveats:
As an arcane bomber, Khonnir has four opposition schools: Divination, Enchantment, Illusion, and Necromancy. If he has any spells from those schools, they'll be extremely common spells, most likely defensive spells and buffs.

Selkania |

@GM Lari. As Selkania is a cleric she have access to anything from the cleric's spell list. But I don't think it's logical.
If you agree, I will be able to know spells with a technological's theme only by founding a scroll (even arcane) or meeting a fellow cleric using such spells.

![]() |

Seri: Hungry Ghosts is wrapping up. Your replacement won't be continuing. If Thorn wants to jump back in, we're figuring out the next step now.
Selkania: People have different interpretations of how the cleric spell process works on an IC basis, as to how much of the decision is made by the cleric vs the deity. In either case, you're worshipping one of the most tech-themed gods. How does this sound:
Now that you have Technologist, you're starting to get a better idea of what to ask for when praying for spells. Spells below the highest level you can cast will be considered "always available." Highest level spells you can access the way you mentioned earlier.
The Technology Guide Cleric spells are:
Level 1: Detect Radiation. I think adding Technomancy to this list makes sense. Maybe we can say it replaces animate rope as the domain spell for Artifice?
Level 2: Protection from Technology
Level 3: Discharge, Irradiate, Recharge
Level 4: Greater Make Whole, Magic Circle Against Technology, Remove Radioactivity
Level 6: Greater Discharge
Level 7: Infuse Robot, Memory of Function
Level 8: Greater Remove Radioactivity
So Detect Radiation is always available right now. Protection from Tech would require a scroll or teacher, until you hit level 5. Sound good to you?
In case you don't have access to a source for these, Brigh has the following additional summon options:
Summon I: Clockwork Spy
Summon IV: Clockwork Servant
Summon V: Clockwork Soldier
She also grants a second level spell, Semblance of Flesh. For 10 mins/level, it can make a construct appear as a living creature. I can link details later.
