Is that the one with the Isosceles Demon? Because someone posted this long thing that I read before they revealed that it was just the backstory to a cartoon, and that sounds like the right name. :o

Li'an moves back, trying to flank the buzzard nearest her and Ary and then swings with Lleuad. Unfortunately as she does she manages to snag the same loose paver, causing her swing to go wild again.
Oh joy! :p
Attack(Hit:Flanking;Dam:Arcane Pool,Sneak Attack): 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 = 101d6 + 3 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 + (1, 4) = 11

Rebuke Death: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 6/7 remaining for the day. Hrut is at 1/45, critical but conscious again.
I think there's enough movement to get on top of the dead sixth vulture and then use rebuke death on Hrut.

Sure! I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to die either way, because they can't deal me 13 damage. And taking damage to heal Hrut is something Markus'd do anyway.
Ehren Ferron
Crap, sorry Markus. I didn't check the discussion before posting my action, so I didn't realize I was interfering with rebuke death. @_@

On the other hand, Hrut's throat probably looks significantly less like ground beef after two Cure Light Wounds.

You coulda held, Fen'wen! :O Ary would have gotten out of the way!

I feel that it's surprisingly easy to translate our characters in this adventure to MTG colors. I was just thinking about it today.
Li'an is Blue, Ary is Green/White, Hrut is White, Valaria is Red, Ehren is obviously Green, Markus is Black/White.
Li'an Va'ardalia
But if Fen'wen took your spot she'd not end up flanking, and Fen'wen *likes* flanking ;)
Ary Bishop
BUT! She'd have attacked this turn. Then next turn, Ary would have given the flanker flanking! :)

for future reference:
When it's just a big block of PCs after the other in initiative order like this - then don't worry about waiting for me to resolve peoples' turns before going ahead and posting :) If you're really worried about something on the battlefield changing before then, you can just post in discussion under a spoiler and I'll integrate everything neatly(ish)
You also don't need to wait for me to resolve an NPC's action (like Klarah).
What I DO care about is initiative order - don't just go posting all crazy-like when its not your turn D:< that's what pre-rolling in discussion is for
...This is especially true for today where I am going to be buuusssyyy at work until like 8pm EST *cries*
So I'll be disappointed if y'all haven't killed that vulture by the time I get back! Either way, have a good day guys :3
Ary Bishop
Heh. I actually have a half day today... and have no idea why or what I'm gonna do with it! Did you get caught up on your other stuff you zonked through on Monday?
I realized after suggesting to use your header that that was an extra step for you (that you were already stepping through the top header for updating turn orders), so it's not a big deal if you just use the top. It's faster for me, but much slower for you! :0
Ary Bishop
Well, I appreciate you continuing to work on this while you're falling behind! :)
GM Kiora
I try to honor my commitments :p
What's holding me up with Nary is that I need to do some setting reading for her. I don't know much about gnomes for example, I have the gnome players companion but I need to find time to read it >_>
I have something like 72 hours of CE (continuing education) due in a month or so for my workplace. WV law only requires 30 but I have to do other stuff for my various certifications and also mundane crap like bloodborne pathogen training/HIPAA training (I'm sure Hrut knows the pain of HIPAA training)/random HR don't-go-to-work-in-a-miniskirt crap
It boils down to taking a lot of standardized tests online.
It's my own damn fault for letting it pile up and not doing it little by little over the year ; ; So of course I wait until the month where I have to cover all kinds of shifts for vacations.

No rush! Getting the other campaign started will be fun, but I'd bet there's not a person here who'd have you sacrifice work or the momentum of this WotR to do so :)
The gnome handbook is pretty neat reading. I love the fact that gnomes have to keep themselves entertained or they end up bleached!
Also: I'm soooooooooo exhausted, but finally home!

HA! I GOT IT THIS TIME. EAT IT!
Errr. Sorry. I might be slightly competitive about really odd things.
Mine.
"I'd like to thank all the people who helped me reach this point. Like me. And also me."
Side note: I think one of the best things about gnomes is that they basically don't die of old age, like Fen'wen said. They get 'older' as they run out of things to do. So you literally play them as manic, or they wind down.
Who else thinks a gnomish inquisitor of Zon'Kuthon could be epically fun for this very reason? In the most terrible of ways?
I don't really know why I'm cutting myself, but I don't want to get old, Peter Pan will come for me if I stop having fun...
I'm also kind of stalling. I recognize that i need to do some personality things like you did, to make it easier to understand where she's coming from... or maybe I can just be lazy about it and let it come out in writing.

So, off-topic, but a friend and I are applying to a Carrion Crown. This is what I have for the 'background' of the character. I'd like opinions if you don't mind.
Taken from the notes of Sybil Norrer, Former Aide to Professor Lorrimer; Doctorate in the studies of Sound Minds
13 years ago Age 9
'While it is quite unusual and outside of the Professor's normal jurisdiction, we have heard of a child in the distant lands of Magnimar who has had a rather unusual interaction with a creature that we know little about; in keeping with the Professor's habits, we've planned a trip cross country through the Hold of Bekzen and into Varisia, we'll make several stops along the way, as is typical of such a long trip. From our understanding, the child has been changed significantly from the norm by their interaction with whatever sort of creature he has met with, but such news travels far when the Professor shows interest.'
12 years ago Age 10
'Our trip through the Hold of Belkzen down to the city of Magnimar has gone well, and might I mention that the city of Magnimar is breathtaking in places, though breathstealing in others. The child, who we now know to be named Noah has spent the last two years with the Clergy of the Empyreal Lord Ashava; no small irony that a follower of a minor goddess of lost souls and rest would be the lure this far from Ustalav. Having known little of our precise arrival date - overland travel is fickle at best, the boy seems to have headed out into the woods, something not untypical of him. We will be required to wait for his return.'
The wait was not exceptionally long, though the circumstances are quite unusual. One with any measure of sensibilities would ordinarily balk at the idea of a child of such an age heading off into the wilderness alone A note in the margin: He seems to be prepubescent based upon appearances, yet it is more understandable, given the nature of the fully grown wolf that accompanies him. No special training has resulted in this bond - the wolf simply stays with the child - a peculiarity that needs to be studied perhaps as much as the child himself.
As for the child, perhaps a description is in order. Noah is unusually lanky even for his prepubescent years - growth spurts have done him few favors. His black hair is streaked with lines of white, while his eyes are an amber color. His fang teeth appear to be of ordinary size, he has no claws or other outward signs of the change. He is able to produce several minor magics, that he understands to only work within the walls of Magnimar for whatever reason. The child appears to be rather surprisingly shy with us, during this trip.
Moving forward to the encounter itself, it happened in small terms, thusly: The boy was traveling through Varisia with a small band of others of the native variety. A note in the margin: Descriptors of the child's family likely marks him as being of Varisian and Kellid descent During this travel, the group was assailed (as is not uncommon within these parts) by creatures of goblinoid nature. Had the wheels of the carriage not been stuck within the deep mud of the Mushfens, simple flight would have likely saved the child's family. A dark-haired spirit of some sort approached and eradicated the pests, saving the child. The boy remembers little of the woman - Black hair streaked with white down to her ankles, an unusual double-bladed knife that reminded him somehow of shears, and an exceedingly calm demeanor.
What he does remember of the woman was a distinct feeling of loss In the margin: Perhaps projecting?, and a small speech.
'Of Shore, Spire, and Shadow,
Of Spirit, Stone, and Harrow,
Of Beast, Man, and Control,
Of Fallen, Lords, and Sorrow,
Of Murders, Death, and Heroes,
Of Ancient, Rising Gallows.
Your journey shall begin in the lands to the west, and when more death comes, it will move forward; this fate is not yours alone, but the fate of a nation.'
In the margins: Perhaps not a speech, but a prophecy? Creepy. Thankfully, we live in the Age of Lost Omens, when prophecy holds little sway; threats do not befall entire nations on a daily basis, and I feel for the city of Magnimar if this one proves to be true.
7 years ago Age 15
The Professor had intended to make this trip sooner, but it would seem that more and more, life gets in the way. We had intended to see the boy at least once more before he came of age, but no matter. The trip was not particularly noteworthy, except that along the way we discovered a razed village, no survivors were found, yet a young girl in a watch uniform lay on the ground, stable but in shock; she had lost quite a bit of blood and seemed to be suffering from a host of maladies for which we could do little - I am a doctor of the mind, less so of the body - but took her with us, anyway; it is only right, of course. Besides, she needed little beyond water and food, at least of those things that we provide. Ah, but I digress. The trip was otherwise uneventful until we reached the town of Magnimar.
Much has changed about the youth in the last five years. He seems to have grown into his long bones, somewhat, and the white sheen within his hair has spread to nearly a quarter of his hair by my estimation. His eyes remain of an amber color, and he is still accompanied by the she-wolf. He has remained with the clergy and grown in many ways beyond physically. I would say that he is of healthy mind, though he still appears to be somewhat withdrawn and uncomfortable in his own skin. Further, he is able to see just as well by the light of the moon as by the light of the sun. No other major physical or mental changes have occurred, though of particular interest, although he still remembers the woman's speech, word for word. He also still seems rather withdrawn and shy. Noah is literate, and has promised to keep up with correspondence with the Professor, making note of any significant changes within his life.
The spirit in question is actually one of the three Norns (I think CR10 on its own! :O), and I'm going with the 'studied' trait, with Fey as the choice (I know it limits the trait power-wise, but it binds a lot of the character together)
Li'an Va'ardalia
A Norn is CR18, they get to kill people just by cutting the threads of fate, force saving throw re-rolls at will, and get some pretty absurd SLA's at-will and 1/day :) A newly reborn (immature) Norn is CR 10 and lacks some of the most powerful abilities. I'm guessing that's what you're going with since the description gives that their hair starts dark and turns white/blonde with age.
I like the background quite a bit, and the prophecy aspect delivered by a Norn is a really neat twist. It might even be that the Norn and her sisters died in the machinations involved with the plot in Carrion Crown. When they were reborn, they sought to correct the tangling of fates threads being caused by it.
If word of that prophesy had reached the Professor's ears it's likely he would've been fascinated in hearing about it. But at least from the basic description in the trait you're supposed to know something about dealing with fey that the professor wanted to know. In Noah's case he was saved by a Fey instead of attacked, so it wouldn't make a huge amount of sense to be an expert on killing them. You might consider Fey Foundling instead to tie in the Fey aspect (although it's at the cost of a feat), and then modifying the creatures that attacked to be something other than goblinoids (although doesn't need to be undead) and applying the trait to that type of creature.
Ary Bishop
Mmmhmm. That's what I was going with. Specifically there's an example here that I was working off of.
And yeah. I idea is that his continued study of a Fey-touched child (See the Fey Magic Racial Trait for Humans), and their continued correspondence lead to a deeper understanding of fey. But it might work well to swap goblinoid to something else, yeah.
What are other creature types common to Varisia?
Ehren Ferron
Is that JZ's game you're looking into joining, Ary? I was thinking about doing so myself, but I kind of hesitated, aha.
I like the backstory as well, it's really mysterious. There's always giants - there is no shortage of ogres, ogrekin and trolls, depending on where you are.
Li'an Va'ardalia
Well, also keep in mind that since there's prophesy associated with the child it doesn't *have* to be commonly associated with Varisia. It's reasonable to assume that the creatures that were attacking were trying to kill the child. Going with something like being assaulted by unnaturally aggressive wolves, or swarms of rats or bats could be really interesting. You could pick animal that way and still have a really thematic subject of study without just choosing undead.
Ary Bishop
Thanks! I'll look into improving it! :)

Also, sorry for not responding, Yahuh, Ehren. That's for JZ's. I'm going with Hunter and my friend is going Cavalier for now. (Teamwork central! :))

Nice. I'm at odds with whether I want to apply, given my history with Carrion Crown games. Plus I'm not sure I want to play another character with an abysmal Charisma score (he has a horrendous stutter).
Hope you and your friend make it! ;)

I dug it. Also, I'd avoid skeleton hands; that's Markus's bag. :)

Damn it Li'an! I was gonna make that joke!
Yeah, I'm figuring out what level I want to start taking the animation-related spells - I think I want to take lesser animate dead at 5th and then tag it out for regular animate dead at 8th. Mostly I'm worried about Crusaders freaking out.
Ary Bishop
You'll have to explain it to Ary like she's 5. She now knows that there's one not-bad necromancy spell (It kept her not-dead). I'd suggest using things like 'devotion' and 'duty' and 'honor' to explain it to people. There are probably more undead-friendly good aligned gods (Iomedae has sun domain, after all), but I get the feeling she's far from the least understanding. Just don't use the Crusader's for evil deeds, and you'll likely quickly make people understand that you're betraying no one's heart. :)

Ary, this is Mr. Lich, your new babysitter. He's an old friend of mine and he'll be staying with us for a while. He may look scary, but his heart is in the right place (or would be if he had one). He'll be watching over you while I'm at work, so I want you to behave. That means no chasing him around with Radiance like you did with Bob! Poor Bob still hasn't recovered from losing both his arms, all he does now is shuffle around moaning "Aaaaaaarms! Aaaaaaaarms!". None of the other zombies will even talk to him anymore. It's really sad.
Ary Bishop
I understand. I had a minor bout of withdrawal as a result of it being down for several hours.
:) I'll be doing the RP thing tonight, so don't worry too much on my part :)

Yup, totally understandable! I'll be going out to eat in a while, but should be around later.

Have fun!
Valaria Alazario
I homebrewed Eberron's Deathless into a player race once because I wanted to do something like that. I've always liked undead, but Pathfinder treats so much necromancy as pure evil. The White Necromancer is such a nice thing.

Looks like I sorta took that idea, huh?
I hope I can get some ogre zombies... They're just so efficient when it comes to damage/health for HD!
Actually, I've never asked! Kioralady, what's your stance on zombifying demons that we kill?
