Because even first level spells are useful with a high caster level without being unbalanced.
You're gonna see Li'an go for the gold in "abusing high-caster level 1st-level spells" in this campaign ;)
Hey, before we get too far away from the topic - would you guys actually want to play in another game if I wanted to start another game?
I suppose it's not really cheating on y'all if I join another campaign with y'all, so sure!
Markus Coffinborn
Alright, if given the choice between Curse of the Crimson Throne, Jade Regent and Giantslayer...could I have a vote?
Li'an Va'ardalia
I've always wanted to do Jade Regent, but I'm ok with any of them.
Valaria Alazario
Oh, such interesting choices~
I don't have a strong preference honestly. I even have Jade Regent and Giantslayer characters stockpiled.
Ary Bishop
I don't know anything about Jade Regent and would have to look it up. CotCT I'd probably play a divine(ish) character. Giantslayer I'll be playing with my face to face group eventually, if that's not a problem.
Bonus points if my real life friend can join and the setting allows for a pair of people who're dating :p She's a -lot- slower than me to respond to things, but I don't think that's a fair metric to gauge by (she has a life :p).
Hrut Ingvarson
CotCT for me as well! I am in an all orc Giantslayer, however its super slow...

I'm gonna pass out. So past sleepy time. :s
Ehren Ferron
Ooh, tough choice. As much as I'd love to take another crack at Jade Regent, I should probably keep my brain out of Sandpoint.
I'll say Cruse of the Crimson Throne.
EDIT: CURSE of the Crimson Throne, rather.

Night!
I'm going to go crash myself now.

Alright, I'm definitely on the "I want to run an additional game with you guys as players" train - that sounds like a huge blast, but I'm a bit indecisive.
Jade Regent has significantly more opportunities for NPC relationships and interactions, is less well known for some of you (and me, admittedly) and has this exploration theme which I'm really into. However, it's a lil stale because of the time spent traveling.
Curse of the Crimson Throne is something I've already run multiple times (and so am exceedingly familiar with) and has an interesting theme. It's got a cast of NPCs that aren't terribly fleshed out, but have room for it. However, the cool-factor is pretty low for pretty much a chapter and a half, and the third chapter as well.
Valaria Alazario
As someone that has GMed Jade Regent before, I can safely say that the NPCs are fascinating to play around with and the travel is quite fun if you get creative with encounters so things don't get monotonous. And drop the caravan system. Seriously. It's bad.
I've never played Curse of the Crimson Throne, and I've never had the time to do the necessary conversions to switch it to Pathfinder from 3.5 so I could run it, so I've never read it either. However, it certainly looks interesting.

I don't care either way. I'll probably run Jade Regent at some point, but my f2f players are jonesing to be evil (theyre already having issues with being good lol - they prefer to be hooligans) so Way of the Wicked seems more likely.
I've never really gotten a chance to play PF so be gentle, it's my first time <3
Ary Bishop
I got mixed up on crimson throne and thought carrion crown. My concept for Crimson Throne is actually a spirit binder wizard. Trait: Orphaned. :3. Bet you can see where this is going.
I normally am not a fan of wizards, and while I really like the concept, if more people want to be nasty, I'd be happy to play something else. I'd rather you guys get to play what you want, and me not play a character I like conceptually but not in action. (Although, I could totally see myself being wizard 1/other19 and being very happy with that. Specifically chosen one paladin.).
And not to be pushy... but should I inform my friend she can join or can't join? I know it pushes our numbers up quite a bit.
Hrut Ingvarson
So would you allow the same materials for either game you decided to run or would you disallow things from one game or another? Just curious what to start thinking about.
Ary Bishop
Ugh. Just saw that it translated casty to nasty. :| No insult intended.
Ehren Ferron
Oh snap, just learned that they errata'd the bolt ace. I know what I'm playing. ;P
As for Jade Regent, honestly I'd be down with playing whatever leinathan is most comfortable/eager to run. The one I played in was heavily modified, and ultimately just went kaput, unfortunately.
Ary Bishop
Yeah, I'm happy with what he wants to run. As long as it's not evil... And even then I'd give wotw a chance cause 'ap'. Not that that's on the list. I kind of worry that if he's ran cotct lots it may be boring for him. :0
Li'an Va'ardalia
Oh snap, just learned that they errata'd the bolt ace. I know what I'm playing. ;P
Ugh, I read the new errata and they totally killed flamboyant arcana/arcane deed for magus. No more picking up Opportune Parry and Riposte and Precise Strike. Boo!
Really nice that they fixed Bolt Ace though. Need to look through and see what else they've changed.
Ary Bishop
Honestly, a masterwork crossbow is an insane boon.
And they changed most everything, while leaving a lot of broken stuff.
Like 'open to interpretation dimensional slide'.
And daring champion giving swashbuckler stuff without giving you an effective swashbuckler level. So... I have my charisma mod in panache, sure... but I also have precise strike which scales off of my swashbuckling level. Which is zero.
:p. I think this is safe to RAI, though.
Valaria Alazario
I've got my characters all picked out too.
Jade Regent: Kyrus Zandu - Half-Elf Bard, Trait: Childhood Friend (Ameiko)
Curse of the Crimson Throne: Aaron 'Hatchet Man' Crispin - Human Slayer (Cutthroat), Trait: Widowed (Lover)
Giantslayer: Rogar Stonecaller - Dwarf Shaman (Lore Spirit), Trait: Artifact Hunter
Hrut Ingvarson
CocCT- probably my umbral sorcerer idea
Jade regent- Lunar oracle maybe, something I want to try out.
Giantslayer- I have a goblin alchemist ready to go but if you wanted something more serious, I would find something else easily enough.
All of that is dependent on point buys and available classes and races also.
Li'an Va'ardalia
Hmm.
Jade Regent - I'm thinking Ulfen Hunter (Feral Hunter)/VMC Barbarian as a front-liner (A "Rawr Bear eats the bad guys" sort of thing).
CotCT - Donno, will have to think about it. Will need to flip through the player's guide to get a feel for it.
Markus Coffinborn
I looked through some stuff - I've already done all of the conversions, actually, and it's by far my favorite adventure path.
I'd totally be down for running it again just to see what you guys did with it.
As far as character generation... I have my own ideas. Give me a few minutes to update this game and my others and then I'll get to work on a thread.
Markus Coffinborn
Alright! I have a link to the thread. I'm gonna post some character-creation guidelines.

Hm. Looking over Path of War a bit, and saw something that I think was overlooked.
Making his soul a wellspring of holy power, the
disciple strikes out at a foe to unleashed his holy
power to restore health to himself or an ally. The
initiator makes an attack against a target creature,
inflicting damage as normal, and the strike restores
1d6 hit points plus his initiation modifier to the
initiator or to an ally within 30-ft.

See everyone tomorrow.

I appreciate it!
And you're a talented enough roleplayer that you can convey a lot of personality without actually saying anything :)
Something I've come to be fond of in pbp are chances to focus on the quiet moments - in f2f its all about squeezing as much action as you can in the time you have allotted so it's nice to sit and run through some downtime. Maybe it's just silly to you guys, but I love reading it - getting to read all your posts during my crazy g&~ d$#n work day (I've seriously busted my ass all week long D:) makes me smile :3
Ary Bishop
Hm. I usually feel like 'just thinking' isn't really something others would care to read. So I usually spoiler it. I'll bear in mind that people appreciate it.
Li'an Va'ardalia
Getting a view into each character's head is wonderful. Doesn't need to be all the time, and sometimes a bit of mystery on their thoughts works better, but don't ever think it's something we don't care to read :)
Ehren Ferron
Question about Treating Deadly Wounds: is failing to restore hit points a substantial enough failure to retry? The rules are a bit vague about what constitutes evidence of failure.

This is one of the reasons I'm having fun with journals, reading yours and writing mine.

Is there a well-known Elven ranger that may have taken a shine to Ary or her father? I'd kind of like to resolve Ary knowing some traditional Elfy fighting techniques for breaking down demons. :p
If there isn't one, I'll have to make someone up. :)

Ary has staked claim to one of the guest rooms (she left a rather large retainer, after all ;)).
Within that room is the Marilith Toy (unless Avi is going to continue using it), the spearman, the five longswords, her old chain shirt, the 6 pounds of meat, her blanket, her bedroll, her soap, and whichever weapons Horgus wanted to unload on her, in addition to Valaria's old Starknives. (If you want them back, feel free to pick them up!)
She'll also stash her notepad and pencil on the end table.
She drank the only Lesser Restoration potion I had listed on my sheet; if she had another, my bad!
In theory, she is still carrying the following:
Justice, Faith and Radiance, Masterwork Chain Shirt, Masterwork Backpack, Belt Pouch, Flint and Steel, Wainwright Tools, Rope, her old Reversible Cloak, 2 Alchemists Fires, the Cultist Symbol, Hosilla's unidentified potion, Mandragora ichor, both waterskins (one full, one not) and the magic music box.
I believe that leaves her at 68 pounds, at the moment.

;D just make someone up
Elves are pretty rare at the Worldwound but not unheard of. (Li'an's father and Aravashnial immediately hit it off because of their shared culture, and background of choosing to bring the fight to the Worldwound rather than the Tanglebriar.)
Half-elves on the other hand are very common - especially wandering bastards from Kyonin.

On the note of Terrified Women: Ary is still on rearguard... but has no one to guard! Wooo! She can join the party!
But also!
I have to sleep. Ary will bring up the rear; it sounds like whatever is going on, it needs to be handled now. But... work.
Blech @ responsibilities.
Li'an Va'ardalia
Hooray on joining the party! and night! :)

This is random, but I've been reading through occult adventures to work on Nary-a-Care, and just wanted to let y'all know that demons that previously used magic jar to possess people will now use possession instead.
The spells magic jar and marionette will still exist but the new spell works better flavor-wise with demons. In particular, with possession both the possessor and host souls coexist in the same form, which has neat RP potential.
