Stay warm! Watch those water pipes!
DM Greaek |
She sighs "So There are five major goblin tribes in the region, and, traditionally, they’re pretty good at keeping each other in line with intertribal squabbles and the
like. Yet from what I’ve been able to piece together, members of all five tribes were involved in the raid on Sandpoint. A fair number of the Mosswood goblins I dealt with yesterday were already pretty beat up, and there was a lot of chatter about the
‘longshanks’ who killed so many of them. Now that I’ve met you, it seems obvious from their descriptions who they were talking about. Seems like you’ve made an impression. In any event, the fact that the five tribes are working together disturbs me. Goblin tribes don’t get along unless they’ve got something big planned, and big plans require big bosses. I’m afraid that someone moved in on the goblins and organized them. And judging by these recent raids, what they’re organizing seems like bad news for all of us." she turns to Hemlock "I wouldn't be surprised if Bruthazmus had a finger in this."
Hemlock stops for a few seconds to think and says "I will go to Magnimar with a few other guards, and request back up from the guard there. Shalelu I want you to find out what they are planning, whose planning it, and where it's being planned. You four need to keep the city safe when I'm gone, the people seem to admire you."
Finally got here, sorry guys, damn cold front.
Yeda Wolfspirit |
Are you sure Shalelu? It seems if Bruthazmus wanted to move against you by exploiting the goblin tribes he would have tried it long ago...
She trails off for a moment thinking it through.
Unless he were himself in the employ of a bigger boss. In any event, how can we help you? Would you like us to check on the bugbear? Look into other potential bosses organizing the goblins? What else?
Yeda looks aspiringly to her recent mentor, enthusiastic to get back into meaningful action.
Corrin Whisperwind |
"Bruthazmus is a Bugbear who roams the area. He uh, is a bad person. Definitely miss Shalelu's enemy. So our enemy."
He leans over and whispers to Tamm not wanting to interupt the others nor bring up that hated name too much in front of Shalelu.
"I dont like the sound of Bruthazmus having someone above him. The crude brute following orders gives me pause as to whom commands him. And Yes miss Zeldana, goblins dont usually play nice together unless something bigger and scarier forces them too."
He paused again wishing he had more information... then again he bet they all wished that.
"Are... are we considering the possibility that even more attacks may occur? If we are, have we spoken to the townsfolk? Raised up the Militia? if this town has a militia."
He added trailing off at the end. He really should have spent more time here in town and less in the wilds he guessed.
DM Greaek |
Shalelu nods at Corrin and looks at him curiously "He is indeed my enemy, and I think calling him a person is unfair." she turns to Yeda "I think it's likely, though you do have a point. Bruthazmus see's me as the ultimate hunt, and the satisfaction of finishing a hunt is diminished by help. The concept of a bigger boss unifying the goblins scares me, but it is an option we need to seriously consider. I would love to take you with me, but I think your friends need you, and taking everyone on a scouting mission seems like a risky idea." she pauses for a second to think "I will go for a few days, and see what we're facing, or at least get a decent idea. When I'm satisfied with the information I will come back, and we'll make plans for whatever may come. In the meantime, I think the place where you will have the most use is here, especially if they decide to launch another assault when the sheriff's gone."
The Sherrif clears his throat "To address what the other elf said I think that, at least for the time being, we need to assume the worse. Information, and a militia are 2 commodities that we seem to be pretty low at the moment, and that could result poorly. When I'm gone you could also see what you could form for a militia, I'm sure a lot of townsfolk would be willing to prepare for the worse after the attack."
Yeda Wolfspirit |
Yeda sits with her arms draped over her greatsword placed on the table in front of her. As Shalelu and the Sheriff complete their assessments and suggestions she nods dutifully.
Makes sense. We'll see what we can do to gather the most capable citizens and get them prepared. Do you have any leads on such persons, or should we start hitting up taverns, shops, and farms? Are we authorized to offer any small payment from the town proper should any of them need convincing?
Zeldana Dardlara Amaria |
"You can just call me Zeldana, Corrin. Or Zel if you'd like." Zeldana said smiling.
"The farms would likely be the best place to start." Zeldana said to Yeda. "Travelers, farmers, ranchers, and hunters are the ones who face the goblins more than the shops and tavern owners." Zeldana pointed out as she sipped on her tea. "The town has the guard which can easily be sured up with militia."
"Many here enjoy this town." Zeldana said with a small smile. "I've been here for seven years now and this is home to me. I am sure there are many here who feel the same way. Sandpoint... Sandpoint is special. Yeah we're not perfect. People fight, and pick on one another, and go off as if they're better but... in the end Sandpoint is our home. We'll defend it to the bitter end, we just have to remind those here that without them we'll see the bitter end." Zeldana stated as she looked to the heroes.
Placing her elbow upon the table, Zeldana rested her head in her hand. "Which will be interesting to watch. Good thing you've got a local." She teased them.
Yeda Wolfspirit |
What's the mechanic to the recruitment? That might help us decide how much to RP it.
Corrin Whisperwind |
While not an antisocially built charector Corrin wasnt built really for recruiting Militias :) That being said, He will gladly ride Dewdrop to the farms to recruit. But its up to the others really :)
Loxley Geralt |
Loxley sat quietly, listening to the others that knew the area better as they laid out the situation before them. The thought of even just two goblin tribes cooperating was disturbing, but five of of them was down right stomach turning. Add a bugbear into the mix and Loxley thought she was going to be ill and she was sure it was showing in her face.
She realized she was squeezing the mug in her hands and set it down carefully. Taking a deep breath to calm herself she managed a smile again.
”I can appreciate having people who know the area.”
Loxley nods at Zeldana.
”We’ll need more then just able bodies if they do attack again. Father always said supply chains are important.” She adds seriously. ”What I saw of the aftermath shows that. Goblins like using fire if I recall. We would what water barrels and buckets ready. And any healing that can be prepared or readied ahead of time. If we could set up a watch and a way to sound a warning it would be helpful too. Maybe the church bell?”
She looks over at the sheriff and Shalelu, then back at the others.
"Can anyone think of anything else?”
Sorry for holding things up. Kept meaning to post then getting sidetracked. :p
If everyone wants to move things along, I’m fine with that.
DM Greaek |
All good Loxley, glad you're still with us. As to what Zeldana said I definitely agree with that and RP is definitely one of the most enjoyable elements here for me, but we've been playing since May and lost 2 different party members but are still in part 2 of book 1, so I think we should get into some action and it's gonna get there pretty fast. Another question for those who have played the game before (Not sure how many that is) but would you prefer if we played the second book as is, or changed some stuff. In my opinion, it's the slowest part of the adventure and I haven't had as much fun there as I have in the rest of the adventure
Presuming nobody has anything else to add Shallelu leaves almost immediately (though if anyone wanted to talk to her separately she would stay for a bit), and Sherrif Hemlock leaves the next morning, as it's getting close to the afternoon but he spends the rest of the day preparing for departure. So what do you guys want to do for the rest of the day, it couldn't be anything too terribly but you could try to take stock of healing at the temple or try to get a warning bell set up. We will then have 3 more days, and you guys can try to tackle a big task each day. The things i've heard so far would be setting up a fire brigade and taking stock of water and water buckets. Trying to find all entrances and make sure they are covered by guards. Trying to organize some form of a militia would each be tasks that would cover a day for the whole group. I'll probably toss some NPC interactions in there as well, but hopefully, they won't take too long.
Yeda Wolfspirit |
Yeda would be most likely to work with the guards and review their coverage of the town entrances. Then she would visit townsfolk and begin the militia raising process.
Yeda Wolfspirit |
As Zel is a local she would gladly deal with the more difficult townsfolk as she'd likely have a better chance with it. If that's alright with everyone?
For sure, makes sense!
DM Greaek |
So what I'm seeing the plan today would be to review known entry points with the guards? Know that might not cover all the entry points, it is a costal town. Also as odd as it sounds coming from me at this point I'd really like if we could be getting a post once per day from everyone, though on weekends I would be understanding of not posting.
Corrin Whisperwind |
Sorry about the lack of posts, to be honest with many of my other charectors I would have a flurry of questions people to talk etc... Poor Corrin isnt quite on the social graces or the leading... that being said.
"Should we see about a town meeting? you know maybe call in the farmers, tell them of the threat, get organized in a mass way?
Yeda Wolfspirit |
As they all set out to start implementing their separate components of preparation, Yeda nods at Zeldana.
Yes, you start working on the more unswayable and influential townsfolk. I'm going to consult with the Sheriff and have him assign the most capable tactical guards to review the town entry points with me, so that we have an idea of how much defense each will need. I suspect I will finish first and can come join you in recruiting townsfolk.
Zeldana Dardlara Amaria |
"There would be a chance that some farmers will not come. We'd need to go from house to house.." Zeldana said.
"I will do my best, they're unsavory for a reason but some of the varisian people can be... well I'll just come out and say it. They can be racest." Zeldana sighed. "My father's blood plus my upbringing being so traditional in varisian ways is what saves me from the worst of it. Sandpoint doesn't have as many as other cities. Riddleport us the worst!" Zeldana explained. "Shall I go bow and meet you all back here when I'm done?"
Corrin Whisperwind |
"To the farmers? I can with you if you like. I dont know where to find them all, but going about in well outside the walls with a possible goblin warhost about seems silly. Dewdrop wont raise too much of a ruckus i promise."
He began with a almost goofy smile to Zeldana.
DM Greaek |
Yeda roll knowledge geography with a +2 bonus to make sure that you can find the most advantageous positions
Zeldana and Corrin You're goin to the farmers?
Sorry guys, we spend almost all of saturday cleaning house, friday i tried to get a post up but my computer died, and sunday the site was down most of the time

Loxley Geralt |
I think Loxely would be more then happy to help with the fire fighting preparations. I wasn't sure how much of this you wanted to fast forward thru. She’ll probably cross paths with the others as she moves around town.
”I’ll look around town and see about locating and planning water sources, barrels and buckets.”
She looks over at Corrin and Zelda before they head out.
”It couldn’t hurt to ask the farmers if they have any barrels or buckets they could spare for in town fire fighting preparations.”
Loxley uses blank pages in her book to layout the town, identify water sources and plan out lanes of travel needed for the best coverage.
She also decides to speak with the local clerics to see how much help they could offer if needed.
Given time, she redraws her notes several times on loose sheets, making sure to make notes on weak points to get input from the others, including the sheriff, Shallelu, and any other townspeople to want to help next time they meet up.
Started a new job this week. Still adjusting to the new work schedule.
Corrin Whisperwind |
He wasnt entirely sure if he was going to be able to convince any of the folk who lived outside the walls to farm the seriousness of the situation but he was willing to give it a shot. He kept an eye out for any game, after all, perhaps a simple gift would help.

At this point I think we can just mesh together all the days, so everyone if you just want to stick to your tasks roll 3 more times and you can either average them, or make them aid others for your first roll. If you want to change jobs up you can, but with the current roles I think you guys would probably be able to get it decently defended. Any NPC interactions you would like to have rp-ed, or even just mentioned? We're so close to getting to the 2nd part of the chapter

I think there is only one in town that Zel would have to verbally beat down. While it likely would have been funny it isn't necessary.
DM Greaek |
Zeldana and Corrin are able to rally the farmers, with a 22 for the average. (I had corrin count as aid others for Zeldana) There was one farm house who refused to let you on property and opened warning fire upon violation, I presume you guys would stay away? What was the farmer Zeldana, we could move on and have the conversation going, in a spoiler likely but all the same. Ameiko would like to spend time with Corrin showing him around town after the tavern quieted down. She was gone the last night, but nothing seemed wrong so you shrugged it off. Katrine would seek Zeldana out to talk to her, telling of how the family is at peace and happy. Her dad also would have approached you and awkwardly thank you, rewarding you with 10 gold.
Sazzat and Yeda are able to make sure all bases are covered, I had your rolls count together, as Yeda would have a good idea of tactical places but Sazzat would be able to help a lot more with finding good spots to cover the places. Sazzat shalelu would seek you out each night and in your down time, and tries to get to know you better. You also get approached by Shalelu's dad, who painedly thanks you for helping his daughter escape this relationship, though he doesn't like that he couldn't do it himself. He rewards you 10 gold.
Loxley you focus on fire and healing, making sure the people will be able to help each other and the town. You are able to get to know the people a lot better, they are a bit cold the first day, but after you show continued interest and drive they warm up to you. The town will be ready if the Goblins decide to strike, as long as you are there to help.
The morning of the day the sheriff is supposed to return, you notice that the tavern isn't as prepped as it normally is, and Ameiko is noticeably absent.

Was this part supposed to be Katrine's sister (I've forgotten the name) instead of Shalelu?
DM Greaek |
Glad no-one posted yet, I had drivers ed, and i wasn't able to finish the post.
Bethana aproaches you visibly anxious wringing her hands "I know today was the day that Hemlock was supposed to return, but we might have a problem. I woke up to find Mrs. Ameiko not preparing breakfast, then i knocked on her door. She didn't answer so I opened and found that she wasn't there, and i found this note on her bed" and she hands you the note and says "Tsuto was something of a scandal when he was born back in 4688 (a year before Ameiko). Since he’s a half-elf, snf neither of Ameiko’s parents are elves It was obvious that old Lonjiku wasn’t the boy’s father, and his rage at the discovery of his wife’s indiscretion was the talk of the town for months. Lonjiku’s wife Atsuii never revealed who the father was, and it’s a testament to Lonjiku’s stubbornness that they remained married. Tsuto was handed over to the Turandarok Academy to be raised outside of the Kaijitsu family, ignored by his father and forbidden visits from his mother. Ameiko starting visiting him in secret once she learned about his existence at the age of 10, visiting him a few times a month to keep him company, bring him some food, and promise him that someday things would get all sorted out. That all changed in 4705, when they had a terrible argument in which Tsuto struck Ameiko. I don't know what the argument was about, but whatever it was sent Ameiko away from Sandpoint for a year, during which time she made a living as an adventurer. She returned to Sandpoint a year later to attend her mother’s funeral. Tsuto was quite public in his opinions that his father had pushed Atsuii off a cliff to her death, and during the funeral there was a confrontation. Lonjiku nearly broke Tsuto’s jaw with his cane, after which Tsuto cursed him and left Sandpoint. Ameiko has tried to reestablish contact with him ever since, but was never able to track him down. I'm worried he's up to trouble, and I think time is valuable."
Yeda Wolfspirit |
As Yeda enters the tavern that morning she notices a stark lack of Ameiko running around, managing the place.
That's odd, has anybody seen Ameiko lately? She asks to anyone in general who might know.

Oh, somehow I missed that we posted at the same time. Reading yours and then... probably redoing?
Yeda Wolfspirit |
So, it looks like she went to meet him and didn't return. I hope she's okay! I see no reason we shouldn't go look into this at the Glassworks.
Loxley Geralt |
Loxley sniffed the air and glanced around as she enters the Rusty Dragon’s main room and set her bag down at the table the group usually shared. The usual breakfast smells were absent and little things seemed off but she couldn’t put a figure on anything exactly, but something was amiss. That is until Bethana approached the group.
She reads the note curiously before passing along. She glances between Bethana and Yeda.
“How much truth could there be to this note?”
She asked even as she nodded in agreement with Yeda, gathering her gear back up.
Corrin Whisperwind |
"Something sounds amiss indeed. Miss Bethana you said her brother and her father were at ends? I dont get his concern in the note versus his actions after the funeral. It had to be an emotional time, but to go from actively accusing your step father of murder to being concerned the town might be in a killing mood if he helped the goblin... wait why would... No none of it makes sense."
He began promptly cutting himself off mid sentence when he realized he was thinking out loud really, only his thoughts werent adding up. He reached into his belt pouch and pulled out a handful of berries whispering softly while focusing magic into them. He carefully pulled out five of the berries and set them in a different belt pouch.
