Kiddrik moves and an stabs at the darkmantle, his spear cutting into the creature's rubbery hide. Cirri brings her staff down hard onto her foe's chitinous exoskeleton, cracking it open and with a faint 'Pop' the centipede disappears as quickly as it was it came.
Sorry Kiddrik, no Flank since it is still 10ft up. Otherwise that would have confirmed.
Cirri, Feel free to take a 5ft step up to the gremlin if you want.
Round 2
Bold May Act:
Kiddrik: 21
Cirri: 17
Conlaoch: 9
Mifra: 8 (3hp)
Petrus: 8
DM: 7 (4hp)
Cirri Merryweather |
Cirri will indeed step up.
Quarterstaff+1,Combat Expertise: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 + 3 = 11
Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10
"Hey! Come back here!" Cirri tries to not bop Petrus's cute wolf and overcorrects her swing as a result.
Conlaoch McCullagh |
I don't know how 10ft high affects reach, so I am assuming I have to resort to a ranged weapon.
Conlaoch moves forward, drawing his javelin as he goes. He throws a javelin at close range at the creature hiding above his reach.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Ugh!
G.M.E.W. |
My bad I should have said its 5ft up not 10ft.
You can attack it with normal melee weapons from any square adjacent or under the DM. that being said even with your standard +6 you didn't hit the creature.
The gremlin takes a step back and attempts to cast a spell without opening her self up from an attack by Tipple. The Creature grins evilly as she finishes the spell and sends two bolts of energy straight into the wolfs face.
Concentration: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Magic Missle
Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (3, 1) + 2 = 6

Petrus swings at the writhing mass of tentacles while Tipple's attention remains focused on the tiny gremlin.
Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
trip: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

damage: 2d6 + 3 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2, 1) + 3 + 3 + 2 = 11
Divine Favor bonus (with fate's favored trait) to attack and damage.
Cirri Merryweather |
Since my turn is coming up. Also assuming Tipple's bite didn't kill it.
Cirri yelps "Hey! Leave Tipple alone!" She quickly steps around the goblin to cut off any more attempts to retreat (and set up flanking with Tipple, if possible)
Acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
On the other side, Cirri swings her staff two handed again.
Quaterstaff+1,Combat Expertise: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 1 + 1 + 3 = 14
Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 1 = 6
Cirri's AC continues to be 19 thanks to Combat Expertise
G.M.E.W. |
With a mighty swing Petrus slices the Darkmantle in two covering himself in a spray of gore. Tripple is less successful, as he snaps that the nimble gremlin.
Cirri move to the other side of the gremlin and brings her staff down with a loud, CRACK as it hits the stone floor at the creatures feet. The Staff seems fine but the stone seems to have cracked, reveling an open space underneath.
Round 3
Bold May Act:
Kiddrik: 21
Cirri: 17
Conlaoch: 9
Mifra: 8 (3hp)
Petrus: 8
Kiddrik Brown |
”You got it!” cheers Kiddrik to Petrus, then he turns on the remaining foe in time to see Cirri’s attack. ”And you cracked the floor!”
Then he rushes up, pinning the little guy in even as he tries to knock its feet out from under it.
Move (map updated), then use longspear to trip it.
Longspear, trip vs CMD: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Cirri Merryweather |
"eek...s-sorry! I didn't mean to. I mean, what's under there? Never mind, badguy!"
Conlaoch McCullagh |
Conlaoch rushes forward to slice the gremlin, tired of these games.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13
G.M.E.W. |
With a quick sweep Kid knocks the creature to the ground as Conlaoch steps up and delivers a massive blow. Amazingly the creature is still alive and its wounds seem rather minor considering the force behind the blow.
DR 5
Concentration: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
The Gremlin shrieks in anger and curls up into a ball hissing at her attackers.
She provokes from everyone around her as she tries to focus on a spell like ability.
We'll see if she survives to finish her round.
Cirri Merryweather |
"Hey! Stop!"
Quarterstaff+1 vs Prone: 1d20 + 1 + 1 + 3 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 1 + 3 + 4 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 4 = 7
Cirri sez...STOP
Conlaoch McCullagh |
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24
Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
"Goodbye, little annoying one."
I am going to guess that the DR doesn't do enough good here...
G.M.E.W. |
So, not that it matters, but I was running this a little wrong she didn't provoke she just failed to cast. We'll just call your attacks your round 3 actions.
As Cirri and Kid distract the surrounded creature Colaoch lands another massive blow severing the creature's ugly purple head from its body.
Combat Over!
Your search of the room turns up very little of value. Pulling up the cracked stone on the floor reveals a secret compartment filled with an assortment of treasure. The trove contains a masterwork breastplate, a set of masterwork butterfly swords, a pearl-studded silver brooch in the shape of a dove, two spelunking kits, two scrolls of mage armor, a scroll of grease, a ring of protection +1, a fine emerald, and a pouch of platinum pieces. In addition you find a tarnished, plain silver locket whose interior bears only the inscription “Ever Yours—EK.”
Petrus. |
"So... job well done it seems then hmm? Although I can't say I have idea what those bizarre little fey were doing down here. I thought they tended to prefer forests and open spaces and the like."
-Posted with Wayfinder
Cirri Merryweather |
"Phew." Cirri wipes the sweat from her brow. "I'm glad that's over..."
Looking at the cache, Cirri quips. "I guess I found the vault, haha..." She's well aware that she found it by accident.
Noting Petrus's comment "Yeah, it is weird. Although these guys like playing pranks on others. Maybe this was their home base?" She shrugs. "In the end, one man's trash is another man's treasure."
Kiddrik Brown |
”True enough,” Kiddrik mutters as he sifts through their findings until he locates the locket. He whispers a few strange words, searching for magical auras.
Cast Detect Magic on the locket (as well as the other items). In case any are…
Know (Arcane): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Then (assuming the locket doesn’t give off Illusion or Necromancy), he picks it up, examining it. ”EK … I wonder who that is.”
Would Kiddrik have a clue? All Knowledge checks, though Local, Nobility, or History are most likely to ping on those letters, I’d think
Knowledge (Any): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19; +3 if Planes.
"Either way, I guess we're done here?"
Cirri Merryweather |
Cirri nods in agreement as she prepares to grab the goods. "Our client only wanted the locket, so grab whatever else you want."
Kiddrik Brown |
Thanks, G.M.E.W.!
Kiddrik helps load all the valuable-looking loot into whatever bag-space is available ... constantly fumbling with nearly every object picked up along the way.
Then he looks up at his teammates, "Well done ..." The look he gives Petrus is unsure but respectful, "... everyone."
Cirri Merryweather |
"Heehee! I learned so much today about the sewers. A shame I didn't get to see any Wererats, though. I had so many questions to ask!"
"Also, all creatures are exceptional. Even those that love garbage." Cirri nods, sure of herself.
