Jagjug does not provide a flank, Telion.

Telion swings his photon-infused fist wide of the creature's pale coloured side as Diamaante's laser rockets into the ceiling of the cavern. Jaxom's arcane missiles carom unerringly into the beast's head, but it seems to be August's static arc pistol that irritates it the most. The horror roars as Jagjug steps back from it and fires his zero pistol.

The hideous beast pursues the goblin despite the reaction to August's weapon.

The creature's circular maw of teeth fixes on Jagjug's face, tearing skin and ears free from the goblin's head and dropping the poor goblin in a bloody pool on the cavern floor.

"Delicious! I must explore that creature's body further, but first, I must stop these annoying attacks, starting with that sparking one with the illuminated skin."

The horror swivels its serpentine head around at August.

    Jaxom continues to pepper the creature with magically-imbued missiles, but again, it is August's electrical blast that triggers the flare of its lamprey-shaped head. It flies around Telion's glowing fist in a circuitous route at the android but stops short of reaching August. Hovering just off the surface of the ground, the creature's maw swells and turns blue; it inhales as a blast of searingly-cold energy envelopes the android.

    From unconscious to awake, Jagjug swiftly takes stock of the situation: the hideous toothy creature, his ersatz adventuring companions, the shiny spaceship awaiting them. He shakes his head slowly, trying to clear the cobwebs from the sheer blood loss suffered, his hand running down his chest to his belt where his second shock grenade sits.

    Jagjug sits up and pulls the grenade free. Judging his aim, he lobs it into the fracas.

    Melee Touch Attack, 1 Range Increment Penalty: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 - 2 = 91d8 ⇒ 7

    Reflex Save (Monster): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11 FAIL.

    The creature reacts violently to the grenade blast. Jagjug's grip on his gun tightens.

    Diamaante, you are 2 ranged increments (20 feet each) from the monster. That's a -2 to your ranged attack to hit an AC 5 square. You hit the lower left square of the 10 foot square that the monster is in; that places August just outside of your grenade's blast arc (15 feet). The monster gets a Reflex save for half damage that has a DC of your level (3) + your Dex bonus (2) minus any penalties to your attack (-2) - that's a DC 13.

    Monster DC 13 Reflex Save vs Diamaante's grenade: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 SUCCESS!

    Diamaante's shock grenade delivers a glancing blast to the monster, but it is the newly-conscious Jagjug who delivers a stiff jolt that gets its attention. Jaxom continues assailing the winged worm-like creature with magic bolts, but August's gun shots seem off.

    It's Telion's turn. He's messaged me to let me know that if we need to bot him during this combat, then that's fine by him. I'll give him the full 24hrs to post on his own behalf and then I'll post for him.

    I am botting Telion so that we might proceed.

    The solarian races forward, intent upon fighting off the creature with the mystic ways taught to him by his order.

    Photon 3. Telion will go supernova after moving into range of the creature.

    As he races forward, Telion's entire form limns with a glowing light uncomfortable to look at; with a flash, the light blasts out in a ring-shaped arc from the solarian's form, scorching all within his close range.

    Fire Damage: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 3) = 17
    Reflex (DC 16) Save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

    Telion's burst goes off silently (as it always does), leaving the strange lamprey-like creature smoking and charred. Abruptly, the winged creature flaps its haphazard mismatched transparent wings and flies away.

    Withdraw action. I've placed the monster on the map where its relative position is (off the map); it's around the starboard side of the ship, about 180 feet away from August (though he cannot see it as the starship is in the way).

    Diamaante:
    Jagjug looks like a mess. His right arm is barely attached to his body, and the goblin is shivering in what you think must be shock. You're not exactly sure how he remained alive, much less effective in combat. He groans as he looks at you.

    Jaxom:
    You know that the Sanjaval Vagabond model is/was a common starship model known for three things: 1)toughness, 2)dependability, and 3)adaptability. You would have no idea what weapon options would be on board the Starship Maiden without boarding her and checking the ship's on-board systems.

    Telion moves towards the stern of the ship, his eyes looking down the port side of the Starship Maiden. Its sleek form bears numerous hull scars as evidence of its heavy use. Telion spies the main airlock far to the fore of the ship.

    Perception DC 10:
    None of you spy open space, but you all can see the outlines of huge closed hangar bay doors near the nose of the ship. You surmise that it would take a bit of scouting to find the control panel to operate those doors.

    (August only) Perception DC 15:
    You spy an auxiliary airlock door near the stern of the ship on the starboard side, about 80 feet away from you.

    Jaxom takes time (a full minute per RAW) to attempt to treat Jagjug’s wounds using his basic medkit (DC 25) but he apparently skipped that chapter of his first aid training manual. Jagjug continues to moan in pain.

    "This thing looks like it's seen a fight or two, but looks like it's still spaceworthy. And I see the main hatch up here."

    Noting his companions huddled around the fallen goblin, he hurries back. "Anyone have any serums? I used all of the ones I brought with me earlier. If we're lucky, that ship might have a proper medbay, but even if it doesn't, it's safer for him and us onboard than out here in the open. Let's go." The lashunta holstered his pistol, and surprisingly carefully lifted the injured goblin, then turned and quickly made his way towards the airlock.

    Between Diamaante and Jaxom, the crew uncovers the control panel near the fore of the ship along the port-side wall and are able to access the door controls. In addition to the door controls, Diamaante spies a cache of several unusual objets d'art from different civilisations stockpiled in the corner of the large cavern. Some of them are troubling to look at but none of them seem to be from any discernible culture that any of you are familiar with. Their exquisite nature is obvious even to the least cultured of you.

    Culture DC 20 Check:
    They are likely to be worth in excess of 2000 credits to the right collector.

    Most troublingly, no evidence of the hideous creature that attacked you remains. The crew load onto the ship and fire up the engine core, warm up the thrusters, and pilot their way out of the airlock and onto further adventures, slightly haunted by their time on the Drift Rock.
