"Where'd you get the card?" Telion prodded gently.
Telion of Castrovel |
"Well, it seems like Garpok was looking to exploit your considerable talents and let you take the fall. If we were able to turn in Garpok and recover the stolen things, there'd be a substantial reward, and possibly more hacking work for you in the future that doesn't involve getting tossed in prison after your companions betray you."
GM Dinketry |
Jagjug leads the group off the bridge and down the main corridor to the intersection at the middle of the ship. He points at the remains of the goblin void zombie with the shattered eye sockets and the long blue-grey tongue lying inert and quite dead in the hallway.
"Garpok!" he says excitedly, moving to heft the undead goblin's body back to the bridge.
Telion of Castrovel |
"Fantastic. The Eoxians are probably interested in studying him, and the station authorities should be interested to know that he won't be hijacking any more ships. Shall we rest up for a while, and then see about visiting the rock then?"
GM Dinketry |
The crew sleep on the bridge. Space is silent.
You get 8hrs of rest. Regenerate all SP and RP. You additionally heal 1 HP (if you need it).
*************************************************************************** *********************
Jaxom doesn't know how long he's slept - sleeping in space is a bit disorienting. He wakes up with a start, unsure of his surroundings at first. Recognising the bridge of the Acreon, he recounts the adventures that placed him here, thinking ruefully about dealing with mundane Absalom Station maintenance work just a week ago. His mind then goes to the burgling goblin Jagjug that they found on the ship and Jaxom frantically looks around for him.
Telion of Castrovel |
Should be 2 hp since it's 1 hp/level right? Also, I'm down to only 1 STR damage, yay. Unless I have creepy stuff growing now?
GM Dinketry |
You're right, Telion. 2hp!
Jaxom examines the Hardscrabble Collective computer card, determining that it likely bypasses basic security, or elevates the digital profile of the person using it.
It gives a +5 to Computers checks on Hardscrabble Collective computers.
GM Dinketry |
The rest of the crew awakes, not sure how long you've slept. You do notice that you feel refreshed, so at least you slept that long.
What to do?
Diamaante |
Diamaante stands and stretches, neck a bit sore from sleeping upright in a chair. "Alright, boys, let's move on out. Time for a spacewalk!"
She'll lead the group to the airlock and check the seals on her armor in preparation.
GM Dinketry |
While August frisks Jagjug, Diamaante and crew prep their spacesuits. Once everyone is strapped in, Jaxom disengages the aft airlock and the crew (having attached safety lines from their suits looped around the main tow cables) make their way out into space.
Some of the crew seem used to the feeling of weightlessness; some seem disoriented and scared. Jagjug practices doing loop-de-loops around the main tow cable. All of you can see why jump jets would be especially useful - the lack of kinetic control makes establishing a movement vector a delayed and difficult process. Large reactive movements feel almost impossible. The more paranoid amongst you keep scanning the empty void of space, hoping nothing decides to attack you in your semi-helpless state.
The Drift Rock below (or above?) you is a small nondescript asteroid. More specifically, it is only a few thousand feet in diameter with an unremarkable, irregular surface. Your eyes hone to it as you travel, some of you focusing on it apart from everything else to quell the mounting terror of the mind-numbing perspective that space brings to your person.
Telion of Castrovel |
Physical Science (Untrained): 1d20 ⇒ 5
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Telion focused on the task at hand and carefully made his way across the tow cable.
"Jagjug, have you ever had your tether cable snap while doing that kind of thing?"
Jaxom "Exo-G" Sandstrom |
Physical Sciences: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
”It is interesting to note that one side of the rock seems to have been sheared cleanly off, as if it was once part of a larger planetoid or celestial body.”
Perception: 1d20 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 1 = 6
Jagjug |
Jagjug considers Telion's question briefly.
"No." He then continues making loop-de-loops, peering at the Drift Rock as it looms ever closer.
Jagjug Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19
"Ooooo." Jagjug lets out a non-verbal murmur of curiosity as he stops whipping loops around the tow cable and points at part of the nondescript lump of space rock.
Diamaante |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Diamaante notices what Jagjug sees as well. "Look, there seems to be a cave entrance over there. Let's head that way when we land and see where it leads."
GM Dinketry |
Based on your untrained Physical Science check, Telion, you wouldn’t know. It’s only a few thousand feet across, though.
August Vydoc |
Wikifinder, the handy online encyclopedia, says no! It also says something about how Apostae is actually a cake factory conquered by the drow who...wait, no that was just edited out. Apparently Apostae contains no cake.
GM Dinketry |
Diamaante and Jagjug point out to the others a cave entrance to the port side of the asteroid, as oriented by where the tow cable has drilled into the Drift Rock. Touching down on the rock, the crew (mostly) encounter no difficulties as they land.
Jagjug |
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Jagjug loops gracefully around the main tow cable one last time before coming down on the Drift Rock in a running gait, grabbing onto a rocky outcropping to cease his inertia.
"I meant to do that!" Jagjug beams at the others.
GM Dinketry |
The surface of the Drift Rock has no gravity and obviously no atmosphere, open to the depths of space as it is. The team needs to climb/move along the surface of the Drift Rock via their own propulsion in order to get to the cave entrance.
10d10 + 10 ⇒ (5, 2, 3, 5, 10, 8, 3, 3, 9, 3) + 10 = 61
You can make an Acrobatics or an Athletics check (or something else creative) in order to move your regular base movement speed. The cave entrance is approximately 60 feet from where you've landed.
August Vydoc |
August happily moves across the rock without tripping - while carrying his pistol front and center.
I should have bought a diasporan rifle, that's what I should have done. Maybe I can make one off plans I get from the darksphere if I can find a printer.
GM Dinketry |
August glides easily towards the cave entrance, trailed by Jagjug.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Idar moves along as well, keeping pace with the goblin.
August, you'll need to give me one more roll to reach the cave entrance. Diamaante, Telion, and Jaxom, please give me a roll, or tell me how you'd like to move yourself in zero-g. If you'd like to read up on zero gravity rules in the Starfinder CRB, you can look at pg 402.
GM Dinketry |
Diamaante keeps pace with Jagjug and Idar, but trails behind August.
Awaiting Telion and Jaxom's rolls.
Telion of Castrovel |
The rules mention using boot clamps to gain a bonus, but I can't find any other mention of boot clamps anywhere in the book. Can I turn the boot clamps on and then stomp around treating the asteroid as "ground" with an appropriate athletics check? If so, I'll take 10 for 20 (10 +6 skill bonus +4 from boot clamps).
GM Dinketry |
Boot clamps just hold you in place. They don’t let you walk in zero-g.
Jaxom keeps pace with Diamaante, Idar, and Jagjug across the surface of the asteroid.
August Vydoc |
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 Sigh.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Jagjug catches up to August and leapfrogs off the android's head, causing August to stumble - he catches himself and does a somersault to correct the movement and then he lands at the cave entrance, peering into it with his pistol extended in front of him in a two handed grip.
Jagjug |
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Jagjug attempts to leapfrog off of August, succeeding only in throwing the android off his trajectory and bouncing Jagjug way off-target, crashing into a stony outcropping 30 feet on the far side of the cave entrance.
"I meant to do that!" Jagjug yells over the intercom.
GM Dinketry |
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Idar catches up to the crouching August at the dark cave entrance.
GM roll: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (9) - 1 = 8
"Not natural this cave," Idar offers August as he unshoulders his artillery laser. "No light." He flicks on the built-in lights of his second skin armour. He looks at August. "Ready."
Can I have a party order? Idar will go in front if there's no protest. Jagjug will not.
Telion of Castrovel |
Telion tapped at the panel on his wrist, lowering Jagjug's volume, then clicked on his flashlight and pushed himself into the cave.
Athletics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Since I'm melee, I'll go up front.
GM Dinketry |
Idar insists upon going up front with Telion. Jagjug will be happy to stay in the rear.
