Diamaante chokes back a sob. "We'll have to send his body back to the kasatha worldship for a proper burial. We don't have time to mourn now. We need to keep moving."

![]() |

Reminded of all the bodies he's left behind him, August's own usually measured voice takes on a tinge of sadness.
"I'd be angry with the miners but they already paid. Now we have to make sure something worthwhile comes out of all this."
He moves to the door and examines it closely.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 Yep, that's a door.

Telion of Castrovel |

"It's always harsh to be reminded that one bad hit can end it. Perhaps Idar's lucky and has some friends with enough influence to get him brought back though." Telion floated over to the kasatha's body and activated the body's boot clamps against the asteroid. "This way he doesn't float off while we're busy exploring the rest. You'll probably want to check the body again before we bring it out of here though to make sure we don't bring back anything other than Idar."

![]() |

Telion gently clamps the too-still body of Idar to the side of the chamber. The team hunts through the chamber, finding a spent azimuth laser rifle as well as a needler pistol with a dead battery floating in mid-air. The body of the Acreon captain-turned-void zombie also has a credstick on it.
As August examines the southern door, the door automatically slides open, revealing an artifically-lit short corridor finished with ceramic-metallic plating on the walls, ceiling, and floor.

"Well, that's not ominous at all."
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Can I roll Culture to determine if I recognize the corridor architecture as Pact Worlds, Vesk, Shirren/Swarm, Kasthan, etc.?

Moving people along to the door on the map...
The crew of the Hippocampus, recently bereft of one member, slowly enter the strange metallic doorway. The first thing that happens as each one of you cross over the threshold is that your feet touch the floor - gravity seems to be intact within the alien corridor. Low lighting emanates out from behind the metallic plates lining the walls.
The corridor stretches 25 feet before terminating at a cross-junction, passages leading to the right and to the left.
Regular gravity is in effect within the corridor, as is dim light. Please move yourselves on the map.

I can't edit from my phone and I can't even access google drive anymore since my work blocked it. Can someone please move me up to peek around the corner at the T intersection? With Idar out, I'll take the lead again, just be ready to blast stuff that starts mauling my face please. :D
"Strange to have working artificial gravity inside this busted up secret asteroid base. Perhaps not as busted up as I thought? Do you think what happened to the crew could be intentionally experimentation of something still here?" Telion reloaded his pistol, then advanced down the hallway carefully.

August swaps out his batteries as well.
"If you say so - but I see why Astral Extractions and the Collective are fighting over this place. New tech I haven't even heard of, working anti-grav buried in a rock could fetch a price. Hopefully we can find a working terminal. I just hope we don't find any stairs."

Peering down both hallways, you can see that both ends of the corridor open into larger rooms. Blinking lights and an ultrasonic hum fill the air - much the contrast to the silent caverns that you just exited.
Which way?

Telion needs someone to move his icon in the map: Diamaante, I nominate you, please.

Telion of Castrovel |

Telion made the rare post from home! (Back to work tomorrow, despite it being my day off, blegh). I moved down the hall.
"That's as good a reason as any. Jagjug, keep your eyes open and let us know if anything tries to sneak up from behind, ok?" With his pistol in one hand and the other encased in a dark pulsing energy fist, Telion certainly looked ready for a fight, even if he didn't feel like ready.

![]() |

The crew cautiously makes their way down the right-hand corridor behind Telion's lead, their heads on a swivel. The corridor looks more like that of a huge space
station or starship. Some of you even wonder briefly about its similarity to what you've heard about the kasatha homeworld before your thoughts shift to Idar. You shift your thoughts consciously away from the Idarii native.
The walls, floor, and ceiling are clad with finished sheets of some polished, metallic substance, along with components of unrecognisable equipment. Panels on some
of the walls flash with lights and mysterious symbols, and an almost infrasonic hum of unseen machinery pulses through the walls. Dim light filters from the panels and instrument read-outs as you make your way around the angle of the corridor to the right.
What would you like to do? You're in low light, if I haven't made that clear.

August's eyes adjust to the increased illumination.
Note to self: get Jaxom to install cybernetic eyes. Offer biotech if Jaxom is squeamish about mechanical replacements.

Telion of Castrovel |

Sorry, the website was down when I was trying to post yesterday, so I made a note on the map. I move up and have my flashlight on.

Telion moves down the corridor, flashlight illuminating the length of the hallway. The alien technology covering the walls and extending in parts onto the ceilings looks to be some form of hybrid of tech and magic. The circuits pulse with unknown activity, but the solarian has little time to examine them before discerning the source of the pistons as alerted to him by August. A strange-appearing quadripedal robot shuffles out of the darkness, its technology not alien enough for Telion to recognise the laser arc emitter extending from its starboard side. A high-pitched electronic squeal emits from somewhere within the construct as the guardian powers up.

The goblin races up to the corner and peers around. He whistles in admiration at the robot bearing down on Telion and snaps off a shot.

The shot goes wide.
"That advanced technology of a type not seen in Pact Worlds! It deals with monitoring the status bigger systems located somewhere else! That's what Jagjug knows."

Telion of Castrovel |

"Let's see how this advanced technology handles getting smashed right in its circuits." Faint plasma began to gather around the lashunta just before he darted down the hallway. Halfway down the hall, he hacked out a wretched cough and lurched to the side. Raising his pistol, he tried to at least get a shot in as he tried to catch his breath.
Pistol: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 2 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 1 - 2 - 1 = 14, Damage: 1d6 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 - 2 = 6

Melee Attack on Telion: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 171d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 HIT! - 11 hp damage, Telion!
