How do you feel about small sized Tieflings?

Basic idea is as follows:
My character was a halfling serving as a huntmaster under a lord that came into power due to external help. The lord made a deal with what he didn't know was a mortal servant of Dispater (guy was Lawful Neutral) and as a result also gained an infernal advisor, an imp with limited telepathy who used his invisibility to influence the lord from hiding without him knowing.

At the same time the one who had him sign the contract became closer to said lord but upon being rebuffed by the arrogant imp she turned to trying to gain a hold on his staff. That's how she came in touch with Leonir, who proved to be very easy to influence and very open to performing deeds to further the goals of the First King and his allies.

Meanwhile the imp failed miserably in influencing the lord as he slowly turned towards a more zealous worship of Mitra instead. The priests of Mitra discovered he was under the influence of some fiendish contract and with their help he discovered he had been tricked. For his own redemption he in turn handed over the witch, the same who brought Leonir into the fold, to the church of Mitra. They in turn sentenced her to death for her crimes.

When this happened Leonir received orders to take out his lord and did so by setting loose the lord's own dogs upon him who then tore him to shreds. Upon completion of this task Leonir was rewarded and his reward was also the punishment of the failed imp. A powerful servitor of Dispater tore away part of the imp's essence, demoting him to a mere lemure, and infused Leonir with this very essence. While not enough to turn him into a proper fiend or even a half-fiend the infernal taint did alter him, turning him into the equivalent of(and mechanically identical to) a hellspawn tiefling.

After that Leonir ruled the lands of his former lord for several weeks through trickery and deceit, making the world think his lord was merely ill and bound to his bed. When the truth was discovered Leonir was arrested and hauled of to Branderscar Prison. The dogs were all put down for fear of them being tainted by some infernal essence.

What do you think? Is that acceptable?

I'm super excited about this, if anyone that has a soldiering background or trait, etc wants to weave themselves into my back story, either as an acquaintance, member of the same cell etc, let me know!

he can be a short tiefling skinned to look like a halfling, but mechanically he will be the same.

Interested in being a rogue/inquisitor/assassin and want to become a vampire.
Race: male Fetchling

Ah too late to edit. Going with rogue/antipaladin instea as it goes much better with becoming a vampire/being undead

Well, I suppose I'll take the lack of response as a resounding, "No." I'll see if I can drum up another character idea.

actually there are two reasons why you got a lack of response from me

1. I was out of town last night and playing a pathfinder game tonight.

2. I'm not really reviewing anything until I have a full submission.

that being said, with a quick scan, doesn't really work for me. looking for more dedicated to asmodeus than learning to follow him as the game goes on.

Understood. You had responded to a couple of others with questions so I figured I was being overlooked. I took a chance and was hoping to get a bit of dialogue.

That's what I thought you were leaning towards, but I was wanting confirmation. I like the idea of having a group with shared dedication and purpose, but I'm not sure it'll be diverse enough for what I like, so I'll withdraw. I wish you the best of luck with the game.

I've updated the background a little, I realize I'm no Hemingway, but I hope it doesn't cause your eyes to bleed at least. This should finalize him or be close to it after we get the group together and converse a bit with each other.

GM Blood wrote:

Let me get this straight, do you mean completely mechanically identical including size or same as normal but small, with it's advantages and disadvantages? (got me confused since looking like a halfling means he's short well into the area of small beings)

Sczarni

I would assume that it means you look at tiefling and he gets exactly that, except he's small as a halfling.

The benefit a small creature gets of" a +1 size bonus to their AC, a +1 size bonus on attack rolls, a –1 penalty on combat maneuver checks and to their CMD, and a +4 size bonus on Stealth checks. Small races have a space of 5 feet by 5 feet and a reach of 5 feet"

might apply, probably should if you allow such a drastic re-skinning, but then again now you've got a tiefling that's even better than normal tieflings, and if they aren't melee types there's really no reason to not always have "small, or even tiny" tieflings...

That's what I thought, just verifying

As far as being melee goes, he'll be a switch hitter. His challenges rely on him being in melee but the rest is more suitable for ranged (in my opinion).

Truerepentance here. This is my antipaladin/rogue. Complete as far as I can tell. Sorry if the backstory is a bit confusing. I can write it normally if you would prefer. He is thinking back on his timeline of how he came to be here so it's all backwards.

Vladst' story:

Vladst was on his way to branderscar prison, travelling in the sealed wagon. The horses pulling it made little noise, the chains connecting him to several others rattling. It would be a short stay he was told, less than a week before he would receive his well deserved punishment. The penalty for such attempted murder was to be beheaded. Not something he had planned for. His chains chaffed his wrists and ankles. It wasn't like him to fail on a target. The secret bodyguard appearing out of nowhere to pin him down and arrest him. She couldn't see him but some sixth sense must have alerted her and she cried out before he could silence her. Perhaps he was weak from the bite. Everything was all set and he had prepared himself, running through the plan a dozen times. Nothing could go wrong. The mayor's daughter was all alone as he had planned, or so he thought. He had not been noticed by the guards. Though he was not feeling well from the recent audience with his employee, he had put it out of his mind and prepared for the mission. The loss of his daughter was supposed to make the mayor change some law or another, allowing for one step among hundreds of their master asmodeus' plan, such plans he was never made fully aware of as was wise. He relished the part he played and was eager to do more, proving his desire to see a new order rise. Death felt closer that it ever had before, though he felt more alive than before, a strange feeling. The bite stung and left him ill, drained of much blood. His dark employee finally agreed he had earned the right to join the family of vampires. He had asked months ago and was told to prove himself, he suspected they knew of his skill and were wanting him to one day rise to their ranks. He had walked in on his master feeding on some poor village girl when he found out the truth about the one he worked for. He was summoned for another job and went immediately, wanting nothing more than to help bring down the system that had enslaved him. His disguise had been foiled and the authorities knew what he was, they would have imprisoned him then if not for the timely intervention of an agent of his own god asmodeus. He had to pretend to be something he was not every day. Disguising himself as he went about his business, secretly aiding other followers and attending meetings, fulfilling contracts when he was ordered. He was forced to hide when the law outlawed those of his kind and followers of any but mitra. Several friends helped him avoid notice and his skill in the shadows was hired as a blade of the night to bo used for their service. He had only wanted to live in peace worshipping his chosen deity but he discovered that wasn't enough. He had no family. His parents had died and his sister was who knows where. She was always the one protecting him when the discrimination was directed towards them for being outsiders. The people preached virtue and love but had little tollerance for those like him that didn't fit their narrow system. His family had lived off the land when he was young. He was brought up in a hut not far from several small villages. Three generations of his family had lived here. The shadow plane hadn't been to their liking, this strange family had left for brighter lands, something Vladst never understood. But he was here now and would die here, bitten, headless. Unless...

appearance:

The man standing before you is hard to make out, cloaked in shadow as he is. His green eyes glow, reflecting the light out of the darkness. Everything else about him is dark. His black clothes and cloak, black hair and boots, gloves, weapon pommel and scabard. Only his skin, pale as the moon, would contrast. But you can't see that of course. A child of the shadows. Part forced, part chosen. But all natural to him.

His focus is the destruction of the so called perfect order of this land he calls home. His devotion to asmodeus clear. Only other followers are safe from him, for now. None can be too comfortable. Only those who earn his trust truly gain his respect. All others are merely fellow devotees. Potential targets. He will serve, no one will he let get in his way

While focusing on one individual or object, the antipaladin does not detect good in any other object or individual within range.
Smite Good: Once per day, an antipaladin can call out to the dark powers to crush the forces of good. As a swift action, the antipaladin chooses one target within sight to smite. If this target is good, the antipaladin adds his Charisma bonus (if any) on his attack rolls and adds his antipaladin level on all damage rolls made against the target of his smite. If the target of smite good is an outsider with the good subtype, a good-aligned dragon, or a good creature with levels of cleric or paladin, the bonus to damage on the first successful attack increases to 2 points of damage per level the antipaladin possesses. Regardless of the target, smite good attacks automatically bypass any DR the creature might possess. in addition, while smite good is in effect, the antipaladin gains a deflection bonus equal to his Charisma modifier (if any) to his AC against attacks made by the target of the smite. If the antipaladin targets a creature that is not good, the smite is wasted with no effect. The smite good effect remains until the target of the smite is dead or the next time the antipaladin rests and regains his uses of this ability.

GM Blood:
FYI, at http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/featured-races/arg-tiefling - there is a sidebar under the chart for Tiefling random height and weight. The sidebar is all about tieflings mixed with other races than human... the last sentence reads:

"In game terms, the difference between non-human tieflings and human tieflings is purely a matter of size. Unless they have specific tiefling-related size modifiers, the tieflings of each of these races are the same size as their non-fiendish ancestors. They gain any of the bonuses or penalties related to that size, but gain no racial bonuses except those of the tiefling; beyond size, their humanoid ancestry is purely cosmetic."

Ah thanks JAFO, ok nevermind my last post, what lantzkev said was correct.

He can be small sized with the bonus and drawbacks that entail.

Reading through the Lord of darkness archetype, im probably going to go with rhat instead of straight antipaladin

I am currently working out Sir Garrett Valcin's background and mechanics. For the most part I will be keeping true to what I said before with him being an Anti-Paladin (Lord of Darkness)/Rogue. However, I'm looking into the Thug Archetype instead of the Rake archetype.

Almost exactly the same as me :p do you plan on turning into a vampire also?

Not in the least. I posted the concept early yesterday morning.

Its definitely an intriguing combo and gives plenty of room for roleplaying. Currently I'm deciding on what Sir Garrett Valcin's personality will be.

Will he be a man of intrigue to everyone he meets or perhaps a ladies' man that is rather brutish around men... Its a rather hard decision.

Tomorrow, I will be starting to review some of the entries so far. Do not feel the need to rush as there is still a week left in recruitment.

Okay, aasimar(angelkin) Anti-paladin(Lord of Darkness)/ Infernal sorcerer.

stats planned:
ST=16;DEX=12;CON=12;CHA=20;INT=14; WIS=8 middle-aged

notional background:
The youngest son of a prominent family of do-gooders, Gimlet was always in the shadow of his seven older brothers and famous cavalier father. His older brothers went on to achieve great things as halflings in a human-dominated world. Gimlet had a further advantage, when his mother died, his father was rewarded with a visit from a divine being to create a special half-celestial to do even better things. As the result of this union, Gimlet was expected to be even better than his accomplished father and siblings. Gimlet was constantly frustrated by the pressure to be better than his seven brothers. Rather than try, he was looking for a way out. His brothers had exterminated much evil, and Gimlet was curious about this. Using knowledge from he cleverly gained in small pieces from each of his siblings and father, he was able to summon an agent of Asmodeus. Gimlet felt he was cleverly manipulating Asmodeus to get the best deal he could, but in the end he realized he was the true loser. His soul is eternally forfeit unless he can live for ever. Being a lich is his way of delaying the time of his eternal torment.

I realize that Angelkin have the best stats, but they are also the least corruptible of the aasimars.

Quote:
Angelkin are mortal paragons of exceptional beauty, and they serve as exemplars of good and light regardless of the myriad forms they may take.

I'm wondering if two weapon fighting is better to start with than weapon finesse?

You are a PC. Anything is possible. Good demonic blood tieflings are just as likely as evil angel aasimars, changelings or fetchlings. Just remember that if you decide to play a grippli or tengu or Slyph, you had better have a good story as to why you are in humancentric Talingarde and why you have turned to a path of darkness and order.

will be working on Drogan's story today. This should be fun :)

I have always wanted to try building a Gestalt character! Getting to be evil is a bonus! Working up a concept. Clearly, I'm up for lichdom! ;)

Sorry to double post. I was wondering if the worship of lesser deities who are under the command of Asmodeus would be possible? I really like the flavor of the Whore Queens, and since she is a servant of Asmodeus, technically my PC would still fall under his authority.

The point behind this is to have access to the Death Domain (Mahathallah) so that I can build a focused Necromancer using both arcane and divine spells.

Seems really flavorful, and as long as Asmodeus is at the top of the chain of command, I was hoping you would go for it?

EDIT: Under the description of the Undead Lord archetype, it says that "a cleric cannot take the undead lord archetype unless her deity’s portfolio includes the Death domain or a similar domain that promotes undeath."

Well, creating undead is an Evil act. Is Asmodeus' domain portfolio enough to qualify my PC to take the domain and archetype?

You can indeed worship lesser deities under the command of Asmodeus, and you are correct he is ultimately at the top of the command chain.

Go for it.

WOO!

You're making my dreams come true.

I have one to add as well.

Any issue with having Glasya still exist as the offspring of Asmodeus?

Here is my profile, ready for review, a wizard/anti-paladin.

One removed and one added

I don't have a problem with Glasya

Here is Leonir Kandiri, the pint sized hellspawn. Sheet is still under construction.

Would you be ok with Deceptive as his bonus feat? It would represent his time ruling his former lord's lands through deceit after he murdered him.

As for his Tiefling features:
Leonir appears relatively normal for a halfling so long as he doesn't smile and is viewed in the light. That is assuming he keeps his imp tail tucked into his pants.
When he does smile one can see his razor sharp teeth, looking more like those of a piranha than a normal humanoid.
When viewed in the shade Leonir's entire body seems to emit a very dull, red light as if embers burn under his skin. The only place this becomes really clear is in his eyes, which glow with a warm though rather sickly orange light.

I am working on a Fighter/Cleric. The crunch is down and I have the general idea for the background but the writing is giving me some troubles.

Feat for DM approval Skill Focus - Knowledge (Nobility)

Is it possible to know the stats of this Shroud of the Daywalker you mentioned?

Cuan and Big OM, both those feats are perfect for the extra non combat feat.

Vladst, I still need to get the Magic Items up and formatted. Hopefully tomorrow.

Not formatted

Shroud of the Daywalker:

Aura moderate necromancy; CL 9th
Slot none; Price 18,000 gp; Weight 1 lb.

DESCRIPTION

This funeral shroud at first glance appears to be made of the finest silk no doubt in some dark color such as black, burgundy or deepest blue. However upon closer inspection, it reeks of death and corruption.

When worn by the living, this shroud makes the wearer seem to be undead. Non intelligent undead cannot detect the wearer as if cloaked by hide from undead. Even intelligent undead may fail to notice you unless they succeed at a DC 11 Will save.

When worn by a vampire, however, this shroud has a very different effect. The darkness woven into the cloak shrouds the vampire and allows them to move about during the day. Instead of taking damage from sunlight, they are only dazzled in areas of bright sunlight or within the radius of a daylight spell. This magic item does not free a vampire from its need to sleep however. A vampire who spends hours awake during the day must make up those hours by sleeping in their coffin at night.

Regardless whether living or dead, once per day, as standard action, the wearer may call forth the darkness within the shroud to make them invisible for up to nine minutes.

CONSTRUCTION

Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, darkness, hide from undead, invisibility; Cost 9,000 gp

That seems pretty cool and must have for vampires. Love it. Will be so awesome if I get to play this XD

I'd like to submit a sorcerer (draconic) bloodline with the intention of going into the prestige class of Dragon Disciple. Gestalt class will be with an antipaladin.

However I was wondering if you would allow the bloodline and the prestige class to be flavored after devils instead (specificly a pit fiend) but otherwise have the same mechanics. Examples - Devil claws instead of dragon claws, unleashing the fires of hell instead of a 'breath weapon', a pit fiend wings instead of dragon wings, 'form of the devil' rather than form of the dragon.

I'm basically done with the number crunch, but I'm waiting to fill in his backstory based on your answer. I did have one question concerning the extra feat - would something like Iron Will/Great Fortitude be considered a combat feat? What about Spell Focus or a meta-magic feat? Or am I overthinking it and should basically go by the rules that govern fighter bonous feats?

Hawkitan, That should be fine as long as it is just how it appears when it manifests.

Iron Will/Great Fortitude is a yes but Spell Focus/meta magic would be a no

You can describe the first as unusually strong willed or hardy, the other two would most likely be used for offense things more so than background flavor.

Initial concept as follows

LE Cleric of Asmodeus (Unholy Barrister/Hidden Priest) / Bard (possibly Detective and/or Archivist)

Malak is every city's worst nightmare. Not only because he was raised by a secret cult of Asmodeus but because, quite simply put...he's a lawyer.

Crime - Fraud

Bonus feat - Persuasive

Will knock out crunch this evening.

Expressing interest in a wizard (enchanter manipulator) inquisitor. Should have the build up tonight under this alias. While the crunch needs to be re-worked (a lot), the background listed is a rough idea of what I'm going for, though it needs cleaned up as well.

Sorry got busy at work yesterday and I really want to give attention to my backstory. I should have one ready today or tomorrow so Drogan will be ready to go.
