You are going to need it....

As for betting, throw in another 10,000 gp in there from winning via bets.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

What do people have for wealth? Aarakess seems to only have around 22k. WBL for level 10 is 62k. She might have a little more in spells, but I am pretty sure it is nowhere close to 40k,

Also, any thoughts for what she should get? I have never had a character this level who was a caster, so my ideas are a little spartan for more valuable stuff.

Lizardman hp=108/108(AC24/ff24/t11) {F=+12/R=+6/W=+9} CMD 26 Paladin 10 (Shining Knight) Smite evil 4/4 - Lay on hands 7/7

We spent 5500 gp for bets and license when our odds were set.

I still have the frost greataxe +1 I found a while ago. As an old school guy, WBL never really concerned me. Just try to maximize the resources and opportunities I am given.

For high level spellcasters I always like magic rods. The +4 INT headband is definitely good. I would try for +4 STR and +4 CHA as a paladin, but you get what you get.

I will try to update the loot spreadsheet.

We had moved from rank 3 to rank 6, but the table is confusing. I think we bet about 5K gold for us to win it all.

Rank 1 1gp pays 10gp
Rank 2 1gp pays 5gp
Rank 3 1gp pays 3gp
Rank 4 1gp pays 2gp
Rank 5 1gp pays 1gp
Rank 6 2gp pays 10gp
Rank 7 3gp pays 10gp
Rank 8 5gp pays 10gp
Rank 9 10gp pays 10gp

HP 101 of 110 - AC 24 (T 13, FF 21) - F +10, R +5, W +12

Rohara has... about 68.600gp + Diadem of Zosiel + (which I was not aware of until recently and anyone is welcome to them) necklace of fireballs (1 orb 7d6, 1 orb 5d6, 3 orbs 2d6 remaining)

The Phylactery of channeling (11000) and prayer beads (45,800) are the big items she has... and the Diadem of course.)

And teleportation is fine...

Aarakess (can take 3 others) ---> takes Skorhold, Kilthan, and Jagdbach
Rohara (can take 3 others) ---> takes Justin and his mount (which counts as 2 people)

The wager limit was 500gp, I was going to figure out what amount you could have won with the odds, but figured 10,000gp covered it and more without having to do math!

I also wouldn't be surprised if some of you are behind in wealth. I tend to run this one with a tad more in character stats and a little more behind in wealth. I think Rohara has been the beneficiary of some items that work with her class. But hey, if any class deserves more stuff its the person keeping you alive!

And we have an artifact!!!
That makes Aarakess' wealth infinite as artifacts are priceless.

10k sounds good. I have the +1 frost great axe and +1 returning trident and +1 morningstar of spell storing we found. +2 Str belt was a purchase. Plan was to buy a +4 Str belt ASAP and pass it to Kilthan.

The biggest problem with Aarakess is that I have no clue what to buy even if I had the money. I suppose she should have a haversack and stuff like that. Perhaps Bracers of AC and a better Cloak of Resistance. There are a ton of cool things, there are just too many. Guess it is time to see what might be useful.

In the end, I am enjoying playing her as sort of a gritty avoid getting in trouble and help her companions keep her from getting into trouble type of character. Better that Justin and Kilthan have lots of strength and AC, to make a very bad day for anyone who might threaten her.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Ok, not sure how much money we each have, or what people are buying, but the following two items look fun, and flavorful.

Corset of Dire Witchcraft (22,000 gp) <-- Aarakess wants this for its slimming effect, although the armor and hex bonuses are a nice bonus

Hexing Runes (10,000 gp) <-- a little boring, but buffs to hexes are always nice - landing Misfortune really helps with BBEG fights

Other possible items
- Cloak (+2 or +3)
- Handy Haversack (god only knows why I don't have one)
- Ring of Blinking (Can't hit what you can't see)
- Ring of Evasion (Aarakess really does not like getting hurt)

I updated the loot sheet. Note the items below the 51000gp total, they have yet to be assigned to individuals.

We can probably give everyone 8K and leave 3K in the party fund. 8K is a good number as it lets people buy +2 weapons if they want. +3 cloak of resistance is 9K, and saving throws are important as Justin learned when he saved or died.

If Kilthan is Ok with it, it allows Justin and Kilthan to pool their 16K for a +4 STR belt and Justin can give Kilthan the +2 STR belt. Or, I have no problem just upgrading Kilthan to +4 and keeping the +2 STR belt as he actually attacks more--it may actually be 'used more' by Kilthan.

As Justin is a paladin, he is fully on the 'best for the team' bandwagon.

Let me know who wants the following:
scroll of death ward, two scrolls of ethereal jaunt
two blocks of incense of meditation, a wand of restoration with 36 charges, a sustaining spoon
three vials containing a little kyuss worm in suspension inside oil of repose. They are currently in stasis.

And keeping the cleric loaded so she can stay alive to keep us alive is a good plan.

Don't forget about the two magic items that require worms to make. You can also gather more up if you ever run into more of the creatures that make them.

Kyuss Worm Paste

Aura Faint abjuration; CL 5th
Slot None; Price 750gp

DESCRIPTION

This cup-sized container of bad smelling greenish-brown paste renders a creature immune to the green worms of a spawn of Kyuss. Any worm from a spawn (or similar worm attacks, such as slow worms) dies instantly if it touches a creature protected by the paste. Applying the paste is a full-round action and lasts 1 hour. Each cup of paste can protect one creature. If the container is thrown at a normal spawn, it transforms the creature into a normal zombie, just as if remove curse had been used.

CONTRUCTION

Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, neutralize poison; Cost 375 gp.

Kyussbane Oil

Aura Faint transmutation; CL 5th
Slot None; Price 750gp

DESCRIPTION

This rank oily substance gives a weapon the undead-bane property for 1 hour. Any spawn of Kyuss or similar creature (including Kyuss himself ) struck by the affected weapon takes +1d6 damage in addition to the +2d6 from the bane property.

CONTRUCTION

Requirements Craft Wondrous Item, summon monster I; Cost 375 gp.

Oooh, the bane-oil looks snazzy.

Also, I'm thinking the party should hold onto the wand of Restoration. Maybe I'm a pessimist, but it just makes sense.

Like Justin, Kilthan's got a +2 giant strength belt already -- so he's in no place for a hand-me-down.

We will make 3 doses of bane oil from party funds. 3 worms +2250gp?

Justin will get the +3 resistance cloak then.

With our bard, save bonuses can be used twice!!

Justin correct. Now if you find Spawns with worms later you can scoop up more worms from them for more of them.

I would have hoped to have Kilthan's current Waraxe enchanted further, but since we're in a time-rush, I'm not sure how feasible that is -- finding someone to lay furious and impervious to the current blade would be 9,000 (assuming I'm paying retail, and also assuming that someone would lend a poor Half-dwelf a bit of coin). Buying new puts that at 11,000 -- without the full sale/trade value of the current +1 -- so he'd be out of luck.

So, assuming he can't go with Plan A, Plan B looks like:
- Mithral Agile Breastplate +1 (5,400gp),
- dire collar for the Fuzzsaw (1,000gp)
- feather step slippers (preferably if they're boots) (2,000)gp

While that'd put him over, he'll sell his his Chain Shirt +1 (regaining 625gp), so he'd still have 225gp.

Does anyone have any cash left over?

My thought is to buy the Hexing Runes (10000) and upgrade my cloak to +2. (3000)

Currently Aarakess has 3000 gold + the 8000 from this split. So, she would need to borrow 2000 if anyone has it.

My thought is to buff up the Misfortune Hex DC by +1, because it is so much fun making bad guys try everything twice.

Aarakess... Before this part of the adventure Rohara has 4000g in gems... I have no idea how much she has gained from the current split. You are welcome to the 4000g... If I have more, that as well.

The issue with Skorhald is that one of his abilities as a Arcane Duelist is to enchant his weapon as if he had the feat. He has been saving his cash to do so, but with this infusion and selling a couple of things, he would be able to put Holy on his item.

As he is doing the crafting himself, can we say that he has been working on this during downtime overt he past weeks and now that he has the cash he can finish?

Totally forgot about the arcane bond effect with the weapon for a duelist. That's very useful (meanwhile, I've a transmuter EK who's totally doing just that.)

Tossing this here in case anyone is looking for a game. I'm in a pretty well run Skull and Shackles where we are just re-outfiting the boat and ready to begin the fun part. We need a melee type to round out our party after a couple of drop outs. My character is Astein.

Here is the original recruitment and you can go to gameplay to see who we have doing what.

Good call on the channel Rohara. It still might not be enough.

Maybe an Aarakess polymorph can get Kilthan into the fight? Don't know how effective slinging spells or hexes at a dragon will be.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

I thought about the polymorph, the problem is that Kithian would then be fighting with claws and teeth, and I am guessing that the dragon has pretty good DR, and we know it has high AC. I was hoping to use it on Justin as the Smite Evil would get rid of the DR.

Hoping that Justin can hold out a round with some heals. Going to try to drop Misfortune on it next round (DC23 + -4 from Evil Eye).

I hate it when clerics end up being mostly healing, but this enemy can shell out so much damage it might be necessary. You also have Flame Strike, which would go well with the -4 to saves I just dropped on it.

It would use several uses, but you could channel & quick channel to get Justin back up.

I thought polymorph would give Kilthan elemental body 1 so he could keep his weapons and probably earth glide to the dragon. Or change into a Strix so he could fly.

Also don't forget that Justin has used smite evil so he avoids all DR that dragon may have.

I flew past and above it hoping to set up a flank.

Now I realize it makes me too far from Rohara to get touch healing.

Don't leaving hanging waiting on five attacks for too long ;-)

Been crazy busy lately and I am pretty sure I am not going be be able to continue running this game, which is a very heavy decision for me. But with work changing for me lately, the increased time spending on my sons activities, and just in general being extra busy, I have not had the proper time to invest in any of my games. I am going to try and keep the other game on life support for now.

This has been one of my favorite games of all time, online or in person. I have been playing D&D and its off shoots since the early 80's and lost count on how many different campaigns I have run and played, how many different rule sets, and how many groups of people I have played with. However in all those times this will always be near the top of all of them.

I want to thank each of you for being in this game and any others I may have run. I think you may have my email, but if not and you want to keep in touch send me a private message and I will give it to you.

Also I think my son and I are going to Gary Con this upcoming spring if anyone else ever makes it there.

Again thank you everyone and keep gaming!

Sorry to hear that you do not have the time, but that is why I stopped running the Temple of Elemental Evil several years ago and have gone from a high of 23 games to only 6 or so now, 3-4 that are actually active.

It has been a blast. If you should get more time, consider resurrecting this game. If you don't Aarakess is going to be stuck permanently as a dwarf, and we all know what second rate citizens dwarves are.

Doubt I will make it to Gary Con in the near future, but maybe some day in the future. Next year I am hoping to get to GenCon, but obviously a year out that is only a possibility.

Thanks for the great game. Keep us in mind if you ever decide to reboot. I have really enjoyed your DMing and style.
