Here is the discussion thread for the second Age of Worms game. I will work with each of you to help tie in some things and to receive a bonus trait. While this may not be the trait you pick, its free!

The main thrust is you are a group assembled by Ingrid Jones (Azure_Zero). You have assembled at Diamond Point on Ember Lake southeast of Wolf's Ear. More information forthcoming today on the town, assume you have been here a couple days so you know what businesses are there. (or have lived there)

Ingrid is interested in learning more about the Age of Worms. Your group is being funded by Allustan, a retired wizard in Diamond Point. (Hence with max starting gold). The town in the past has managed to stay wealthy because of an abundance of tombs in the nearby hills. But the wealth gathered from those tomb has long since dried up. But it hasn't stopped the occasional band of adventurers or Pathfinders hoping to discover a new tomb with untold riches inside.

Allustan is most interested in the Whispering Cairn. Sixty years ago the Pathfinders from Absalom lead by a man named Ulavant entered the Cairn. No one heard from them again. Up until six years ago, children would dare each other to stay over night in the wailing Cairn, but that ended when a local girl vanished while sleeping there. Today a few kids will go there to listen to the unusual sounds and carve their name upon the entry walls to prove their courage.

Allustan believes there is more to the Whispering Cairn than a few chambers and wants you to investigate. Anything you find there you can keep. Allustan only wishes for you to keep your mission a secret for as long as you can, because there are many unscrupulous people in Diamon Point. More on that in the town background that will be located on the campaign tab

You are currently staying at the Able Carter Inn paid for by Allustan.

Ingrid Jones is Here

How some of you came together

Sluuth

Allustan brought Sluuth in because of his story about the worms in his tribe. A few years ago a worm infestation killed of a generation of lizardmen threatening the survival of lizardmen tribes in the Mushfen. Sluuth and other lizardmen were sent out for aid and a solution.

Sluuth was willing to join your quest to find out more about the Age of Worms and help his tribe. He hasn't been back in a few years so he doesn't know what their current state is.

Allustan sent a friend of his down to Blackwall Keep on the edge of the Mushfens to the south to try and find out what the current state of the lizardmen tribes are.

Wow, that's a change in personnel.
I was hoping MonkeyGod would complete his character.

DM Blood - thank you for the invite.

Welcome all and congrats.

A quick request, I do not know how hard it is to start the Gameplay tab. But if we are able to dot it, then everything will show up on our Campaigns tab and make tracking posts much easier.

Dryn'taka

Dryn'taka was from Magnimar running an alchemy shop called "The Devil's Healer". Recently however she has fallen on hard monetary problems and lost the shop. Allustan has hired her for participation in this group and has promised to take on her remaining debt. She is of course able to retain anything she finds during her time in the group, including money

Kilthan Hammerstone

A half-elf raised by dwarves, Kithian is a skilled ranger. Kithian has recently come to Diamond Point and accepted a position in this group.

Female Dwarf Witch/10 - (HP: 64/92; AC 16; FF 14; Touch 16; Fort +7/+9; Ref +6/+8; Will +9/+11; Init +2; Per +13/+17

Just checking over the characters to see how we would fit and had one or two questions.

@ Kilthan - it appears that you converted a dwarf character to half-elf. It may be intentional, but you still list proficiency with the Dwarven Waraxe and have your favored enemy as "Elf" which might be your intention, but seems like strange choices for a half-elf. Also, you list several masterwork items (rapier, chain shirt, and thieves tools) which seem expensive unless there is a background/DM ok on these.

@ Ingrid - you have 2 traits listed, not sure if the second is already DM approved, but just thought I would mention it

@ Sluuth - looks good from my initial look

@ Rohara - looks good

@ Dryntaka - not that familiar with Alchemists, so no thoughts

@everyone - as a note, you are welcome to present your Skills in any format that you want, but I have found that it is much easier to determine what my skills are using the format I have on my sheet. Essentially, I list every skill (except all the Craft/Profession/Perform unless I have one). Then I put my full modifier for that skill before the skill so that it is real easy to see. Then I put all the individual modifiers (Ability/Ranks/Class/Trait/Race/etc.) for the skill in parentheses after the skill. If a skill is only usable trained, I still list it, but put the skill at "+*" so that I know I cannot use it for any DC over 10. I also think that it is much easier for the DM since there may be time when he needs to know who has what modifier in a skill (Acrobatics, Perception, Sense Motive, or Knowledge frequently) and having every skill with its full modifier makes it much easier for the DM rather than him just guessing and then you posting after that the elf should have had 2 more points on Spellcraft because of its race.

If anyone has any comments on my character, please let me know so that I can get her cleaned up.

That is up to you all. Tirion (Witch) has said that if the party is healing rich, which it is, they may go a different route the hedge witch.

Also there may be tweaks and such needed to be done on people's sheets as I haven't gone through all the mechanics with a fine tooth comb. But remember everyone starts with max gold and hps for first level.

Ingrid still had a second trait from the last recruitment and I am fine with it.

Format for skills doesn't really matter to me, but for skills I would like it clear on how you get your totals, so included Ranks,if it is a class skill, ability bonus, and any other bonus from traits/feats or whatever) I typically do something on my sheets like the following, but
Aarakess has that in there and more which is fine. Whatever works for you as long as it work for me :)

Perception (1+3CS+2Wis+1Trait)

Also in your character sheets I would like entries in the race class gender with your current HP, AC and Saves. Historically that won't keep records accurate but will be useful to me in the moment. Race should contain AC, Class/Level should have Saves, Gender current HPs out of Max

I'll talk more about combat and posting later.

Yup - I dropped the Hedge Witch - decided to just take Healing Hex. Will mean I am 1 hex behind until 4th level when I will catch up, but gives me a lot of CLW attacks on undead.

Also, I am an Elf, not a human - changed that a few days ago, just never got updated on AZ's list.

Lizardman hp=108/108(AC24/ff24/t11) {F=+12/R=+6/W=+9} CMD 26 Paladin 10 (Shining Knight) Smite evil 4/4 - Lay on hands 7/7

As for archetypes - I had three in mind: hospitaler, shining knight, and undead scourge. Given the healing in the party, hospitaler was thrown out. Shining knight seemed better than undead scourge as the benefits of the undead scourge are fairly minor, but the lizardman bonding with a mount seemed rich with role-playing potential.

Hmmm... other observation... 2 Lawful Good, 2 Neutral Good, and 2 Chaotic Good. Should prove, interesting. ;)

Sounds typical, and ones a half-elf, the other is a lizardfolk.

So the Half-elf effectively has an exotic harem of four (one aasimar, one tiefling, one Elf, and one human).

Actually, the character was a half-elf from the keel out, using the Racial Trait Ancestal Arms (replaces adaptability) to give him proficiency with a "traditional" dwarven weapon and taking the adopted social trait to further the background. I often enjoy playing characters who are "against type", and thought a foundling would be interesting -- and that this particular character could (by use of the social and racial traits) end up looking almost exactly how you'd expect a half-elven infant raised by dwarves to look. (The same, sadly, isn't true of many other races, unless one can talk a GM into exchanging weapon familiarity, for instance.)

The selection of favoured enemy was originally to be goblin (another common dwarven foe, and, again, deliberate), but I was warned such a thing would not have been terribly useful in this particular campaign, and so I went with elf as per the "Ancient Enmity" version of the dwarves -- plus, it explains why Kilthan speaks elven.

The gear, however, is because I copied and typed over another character's sheet when making this profile -- and for some reason, it didn't save my last edits to the sheet -- so that's actually the kit for a level 2 bard. (You'll note, for instance, that Kilthan's 16 AC doesn't in any way may sense for someone with a heavy shield and a chain shirt). Thanks for catching that, I'm updating it now.

Ah - makes sense than. I was really questioning your choice of a rapier as a half-dwaelven ranger who had Dwarven Waxaxe proficiency. Seemed a little odd.

With spells I am assuming, that or a reincarnate spell that includes slightly more adjusted stats.

The only other one is that cursed Mirror I have in my Custom Item Collection, that "could" rewrite a whole character.

The basics of the theory in general terms is when in danger you mistake certain emotions (like love) and it applies to all whom are in danger.

So an adventuring party that goes into danger constantly, has each member of the party thinking a members of the opposite gender in the party as very attractive though some more than others.

I think it would have to be quite the bridge to have Kilthan attracted to the male lizardfolk. (Though, apologies, I missed Rohara's 14 when I started peeking at sheets -- which is doubly bad since a different character of mine was in the campaign she originated in...)

I think that theory came up in the movie "Speed" too.

Ingrid Anika Nina Jones

Ingrid is an exotic woman that clearly has outsider influence in her bloodline. She has spent her life looking for answers about "The Age of Worms". Her research has led her here to Diamond Point. She convinced Allustan to fund and support the six you.

I've update the campaign tab. I have been putting up the blurb about each of you (have one more to go). Consider this what is easily known about you. Details about who you are, your past, etc will be revealed by you if you want when you want. I updated the campaign tab with this info.

Since you are all staying at the inn and preparing to head out you can post in the Gameplay thread getting to know each other or whatever you want to reveal about yourselves past what I put. Don't expect any interaction with NPCs or outside the inn until next Tuesday.

Also in the Campaign tab I add a link to the map of the town and a brief blurb on what it is and who/what are there. Consider this common knowledge in town. Any questions on that let me know. (Note I am naming the Golarion version Diamond Point instead of Diamond Lake)

They will be around, but since I will be gone most of the weekend, don't expect any conversation from them :)

Rohara Acharya

Rohara Acharya is a cleric of Desna who has spent more than the last decade traveling. She is currently looking for someone important to her who has disappeared.

Looking over Ingrid, there is several skills in overlap... Should Rohara take different skills over the Diplomacy, Know (local), and Sense Motive? I think I would like to keep the Sense Motive... the others, I could change. Linguistics can be helpful.

Sometimes it's good to have overlap in certain skills,

as if one fails a diplomacy check the other could try it and succeed,
so we'd have two chances of success for certain checks, especially the really critical ones.

True enough. Perhaps I am over thinking things too much.

Combat Information

Sample Map

During combat I will spoiler the monster's AC for you so you know if you hit or not and can describe it if you wish.

Goblin:

AC 15 Touch 12 Flat-Footed 13

Also for more uncommon monsters, I may put up knowledge checks

Knowledge (Nature) 15:

The giant spider has a poison that will sap your strength.

There could also be multiple levels of skill checks each one higher DC for more knowledge (probably be more of that mid to late levels)

I will post initiative something like

Round 1

Initiative - Rohara, Ingrid, Goblins, Sluuth, spider

You can do all the flavor things with your attack but somewhere you need to spell out your actions plainly in your status spoiler...see below) List grid coordinates when moving or doing something special.

example Rohara moves 20 feet from S17 to S21 then attacks

Later Sluuth may do something like: Sluuth will cleave starting with the goblin at Q24 then R24

After some people go I will unbold their name

Round 1

Initiative - Rohara, Ingrid, Goblins, Sluuth, spider

Feel free to post your action ahead of time spoilered if it isn't your turn, I will apply it when I can unless it no longer makes sense. Also if you guys don't mind I can apply someone's action before their turn if it is before the monster's next turn. (So for instance if Rohara hadn't posted and action yet but Ingrid has I could just apply hers while we wait for Rohara's post)

At the end of your round please post a status like: You can put it on your character sheet to copy/paste

[spoiler=Status]

Not sure how much others are affected by it, but I cannot currently access the website from home due to whatever issue Paizo is experiencing. Just a heads up.

It is a systemwide thing, my guess is that everyone is effected in this group. I am fine at work, but was zero at home last night. My phone works fine though. Paizo is aware of the problem and trying to work it out is my understanding.

My phone worked for awhile (if off WiFi), but now nothing at all from it either.
