Yay! Now for the GM to just kick his own butt at times...
Oh, and I didn't just make up that you can charge with snowshoes! People run in snowshoes. However, in Scandinavia and Russia, if that's what Irrisen and Linnorm-Lands are, we'd be using Nordic skis! That would make for a fun adventure...+30' speed going downhill...

GM Axolotl |

Oh, and I'm in Joshua Tree this weekend, and Monday. I may not post much either. We'll see! I'll wave to a joshua tree for you!

GM Axolotl |

:( Sorry to hear about the continued internet troubles, Chiquq.
I have a SUPER busy day tomorrow, so I may not get a post in. Kinda hoping a few people will comment on Waldsby before we get to Nadya's house, but if not I'll roll it along.

Dezső |

What was the verdict? It is hard to imagine vegan flan -- what takes the place of all those eggs?

dien RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16 |

It was..... not bad, but it wasn't what I think of as tasting like flan. Kind of a lightly sweet jell-o, maybe, except you can pick up the flavor of soy pretty obviously. Visually though it looked pretty much like a flan.
(Note that making caramel the way they suggest is only for the experienced. I burned two batches of sugar before giving up and making a 'wet' caramel instead which was easier.)

GM Axolotl |

Ha, agar, just like an electrophoresis gel! Yeah, doesn't caramel require a candy thermometer?

dien RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16 |

It doesn't require it no, but it might make it easier. With the batches I burnt it just heat up unevenly so I don't imagine a thermometer would have helped regardless. My 'wet' version (sugar dissolved in water) was markedly easier though I probably stopped it a little too soon out of extreme leeriness at that point that I'd wind up burning a third cup of sugar, heh.

dien RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16 |

Okay, finally made it through like 15 pages of re-reads, heh. I was wrong, we DID find some stuff.
Some of which we haven't identified! We still have 2 arrows that detect as magic that aren't IDd (from old man Dansby's stuff; Dez tried with a 22 spellcraft but didn't get them), and four unidentified magical potions (from Hommelstaub and Teb's lair). If the Spellcrafy among us want to make more rolls I can maybe get an accurate loot tracker up with those.

dien RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16 |

Axolotl, I assume that Waldsby is much too small to have people who are going to have the interest or the ready money to buy a lot of the 'art' we found-- paintings, diadems, etc. Those are things we could probably get full gold value for in a city, but what does the tavern owner need with a jeweled necklace that costs 400 gold, etc.
So I assume we might be holding on to those until we're in a larger place with clientele who actually care about exquisite artwork/can afford it. Correct me if I'm wrong.

GM Axolotl |

Ah, I had to look up rules for settlements! You can sell items worth up to 500 gp. Irriseni are scavengers and will always need to fence stuff, so it's sellable.

Yrja |

Let us spellcraft:
Spellcraft, arrows: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Spellcraft, Potion 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Spellcraft, Potion 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Spellcraft, Potion 3: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Spellcraft, Potion 4: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

GM Axolotl |

Those are +1 animal bane arrows.
You identify two of the potions as feather step. The other two remain a mystery.

Dezső |

My reaction to that too!
Spellcraft with inspiration: 1d20 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (18) + 9 + (6) = 33
Spellcraft with inspiration: 1d20 + 9 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 9 + (2) = 14
By the way, my Dad (who died December 2016) used to make the BEST flan (not too custardy, not too springy) with a perfect dark caramel that he would time just by how it looked. My brother pretty much learned the art -- I need to get it down too.

GM Axolotl |

Dez identifies another potion of feather step. Gosh, what could that fourth potion be? :)

dien RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16 |

Okay, the loot tracker is updated, there's a few things we have to decide if we're keeping or not.
1) the liquid ice vials-- my vote is sell, since most things we might fight seem like they'd be immune to cold. However, we probably don't have many other splash weapons with us, so that might be a vote for keeping.
2) Thunderstones- I think we should keep those, some PCs should claim them, as well as the potion of CMW (Imendri or Dezso?), the scroll of remove curse (Caelum?)
3) The feather step potions I'd advise selling, personally. Not that they're not circumstantially useful, but, that's what they are, circumstantially. So far snowshoes are getting us through the snow aspect of things okay. It's just a pain to lose a turn in drinking a potion when you are dealing with difficult terrain, but this is just my personal opinion, if someone else thinks we should keep the potions it works for me.
GM Axo, a question; would the more 'treasury' type loots sell at half price like normal gear, or full price? (I.e, gemstones, rings, paintings, etc)

GM Axolotl |

I will rule that gems and things that are made from chunks of precious metal, worked or unworked, will sell at full price, as they are practically trade goods. Other stuff will require Diplomacy and Appraise skillin' to get them up to full price, or near that.
If you have stuff that is very rare in Irrisen, that would also sell well. Like fruit. :D

Braegan. |

Okay, my final apology guys. After much not being caught up, and much not having time to catch up, I'm going to have to drop this game. I've had to massively scale back my pbp activity over the last 4 months or so, and this is just another casualty. Its not been an easy decision, and I hate to let you guys down, but this is just where I am with life right now.
So my sincerest apologies, guys. But I'm gong to have to drop this game. Axolotl, thanks for the invite and the good DM'ing. Guys, thanks for the patience and the good group gaming.
Ive enjoyed it. And again, I'm really sorry. Best of luck on this game's success.

GM Axolotl |

Life comes first! Folks, I'll work something out with Brae's player to give Braegan a fitting sendoff. Thanks so much for your really great role playing, Braegan. We'll miss you, and I'll see you on the boards in various guises!

Dezső |

So sorry to see you go, Braegan. I has been fun gaming with you. Good luck with everything!

Chiquq |

Okay, nobody's weighed in on wanting to keep or not keep anything of the stuff I above mentioned, so I've made some assumptions. The only thing stopping me from giving everyone an outright total in personal gold earned from item sale is that we might be able to get a few extra pieces of gold if someone diplomacizes the painting sale, but we kinda just lost our talky guy. ;)
(Would you permit me to rework Chiquq some buildwise, GM? I might make her a ranged bard if I can find something thematic. Since we lost some arcane firepower (not all, of course, since we do have Yrja), and some face. It's just a notion, and I'm fine with her continuing to stay the same buildwise too.)

Yrja |

Claimed the thunderstones to tidy up the sheet.
Re: the loss of face, there is a trait (Student of Philosophy) that allows a PC to substitute intelligence for charisma when making diplomacy and bluff checks to persuade or to lie. So either Dezső or Yrja could take that trait if GM allows.
For shopping, since it's unlikely that we'll find magical items here, we could get some cold-weather gear. Yrja can craft some cold-weather outfits if there is anyone lacking such, we could get more furs, ice skates, dog sled and huskies to make up for the loss of carrying capacity.

GM Axolotl |

Yeah, I'll allow rebuilds. :) PM me with your build and we'll bring in Chiquq 2.0 when it's ready.

dien RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16 |

The rebuild will have to wait til tomorrow, but I'll get it to ya soon. Mucking about with a few options that might allow Chiquq to help 'face' while not changing what I see as her core, feeling annoyed at the (relative) lack of nature-bard archetypes ;) ;)
Also it sounds like there are magic items in the shop, Yrja, though probably of a cost level of 'we'd have to pool some gold'.

GM Axolotl |

There's Voice of the Wild, and I dunno what's in Ultimate Wilderness...
...the Cultivator? o.0 Ok, that's kind of lame. There are always Skalds, and the archetype that enchants weapons, I forget its name, is pretty cool.

dien RPG Superstar 2015 Top 16 |

I was looking at Voice of the Wild as my primary choice, yeah, but the longer I've messed with it, the more I just wanna keep her as what she is, haha. If Dez wants to take on the role of facing at level 3, that seems fine by me, we can likely manage until then. Sooo after all that to-do of asking, I think I'll just carry on being me~
Will do IC posting later, running a game of Skull and Shackles right now.

Dezső |

In terms of current situation at the point where we get to act, my understanding is that the guards are as positioned on the map, pink is tied up, red is unconscious, and maybe green is down depending on whether Chiquq's 9 points of damage were enough. So the clear active foes are the three approaching along the side of the building and the commander.

GM Axolotl |

Mmmm, packed sandwiches!
Views expressed by Volan are his own and do not reflect the GM's opinion on sylphs. (he's a gross pig.)

Dezső |

Should we ask him how we can get into the tower if we cannot impersonate him? Does Hatch know how to get in? I'm a little unclear on the plan -- are we to just walk up and ask to be let in? I (and Dez) are feeling like this is pretty much a suicide mission -- we have so few resources or melee power.
