Hrm... well, with that justification... wow... If you hadn't said anything, I might have ruled it a neutral act. Thank you for being honest.

Killed him because you were frustrated with being useless in combat... wow.

Male Human Rouge Knife Fighter

hmm well it isnt really that that was more of a joke more like the pyschological aspect is more driving but ill take whatever punishment it warrants and work but up to being the cg pest tam really is

Male Human Rouge Knife Fighter

Im actually not petty like that I got used to it long time ago sometimes just happens again I did mean that one part in jest sorry long day with "the rl group"

Well, I don't know about that. Hmmm. I have to think on this one.

No punishment forthcoming until I have reached a conclusion. Even then, I think it'll just be added to some mental tally of bad stuff. You're not a paladin, or a cleric, so alignment isn't that big of an issue to you, and he was a really bad dude.

Male Human Rouge Knife Fighter

well was pretty bad act on tams behalf so thought i should explain it then sorta came out wrong so oh well lol neways I posted on all the other games or least the ooc ones and now to read good book will check in again in a little bit before bed haha

Anyhoot, in the mean time, a quick note on the romance angle of the game. As Ryuko, I am not interested in RPing love scenes. Had James's dream continued, he would have seen something very unpleasant.

I just know that in my game I had an NPC I was interested in, and it was my character's goal to start a family. But it was just sorta... hand waved that they got together, with no effort or character development. This is a PbP. I am planning on giving your dudes some NPC romance options. I think it can be a way to build character from a different angle. I figure I will keep it to spoiler type stuff IF you show interest, you know, on occasion, expressing your intent, getting to know one another, and so on. Not going to take up a big chunk of the time, I hope. But I want to give you the option.

As I said, I'm sorta monitoring this thread where all the PCs are trying to have sex with each other, and it's just... ugly. It's completely gotten away from the GM and he/she has completely melted down with the amount of bovine feces the players are putting her through. Not what I want happening here, although with a fully male party, I hope I do not have to worry too much.

*looks at James*

Male Human Universalist 2

Oh my...

Seems we failed the nonlethal achievement :P (Deus Ex pun)

Well, Boris rebuked the offer, and was legally supposed to die by rope or blade. Less ceremonial than Stanis prefers, certainly. Stanis is a tad squeamish when it comes to bloodshed, and hoped there would be a civilized solution to this. Obviously, this is not his INT talking, as he knows deep down that the world is not so kind and easy.

Male Human Fighter/2

If it makes any difference GM Mordecai would have likely done much the same thing in this situation had Tam not acted so quickly. While our alignments or classes may not be of holy vindication, I always play my characters with a moral background. even my hulking CN barbarian cannot stand wanton murder and rape, and in fact his getting in the way of the party's evil assassin wanting to kill everyone who didn't go her way put me into a lot of potentially PVP moments.

Lolz no worries on Mordecai's end with the romance, he's confused w his dreams but he still wants to find this woman he keeps seeing :) i wont make a huge deal out of it, nor draw out his and her talks should they ever meet. :)

At this point Mordecai is i guess both at a loss of what to say after seeing his little brother kill someone, and waiting on what the rest of the bandits will answer w. not overly optimistic, kinda have a bad feeling about 'Happs' anyways, just asking if Mordecai should bother posting or just wait for everyone else?

No, I get it.

But, here it is from my perspective:

What Tam did was not an execution, which Boris had signed off on, but a cold blooded murder. See, coz an execution is done after a man has a chance to defend oneself. Sure, he was talkin' fresh about how he wanted ya'll to kill him, and how he might have assaulted Svetlana, which he did not. And he did this in the sight of two Bankers of Abadar!

It's pretty clear that after some questioning, ya'll woulda strung Boris up for being a right bastard anyway, but that would have been in execution of your charter, which is at least lawful and good. What Tam did was circumvent the execution of the law, and in fact broke it, for personal reasons. Not a good act, I am not going to rule "evil" but it was certainly more towards evil than it was really neutral.

Either way, it's not something I want to see again. And it is sure to get a reaction from the bandits.

Hrm...

Male Human Universalist 2

Gave the boy an angry talking to in-character. If handled in a mature and constructive manner, this can be an interesting portrayal of coming of age, frustration and moral ambiguity (law/chaos axis, not good/evil, which is quite clear-cut), which can become a growing ground for more organic character development.

Tam has not been given time or opportunity to "land" after the huge change of in his life, and it is natural for him to be on edge. Knowing his brother has killed someone, it is also a reasonable psychological stretch to have him commit the murder of a vile rapist to make him able to stand next to his brother, and know the burden he carries.

Stanis finds this all abhorrent, as I have portrayed pretty clearly, and had the man not been "free game" by the virtue of being an outlaw, he would likely have snapped completely. But he needs to get used to the idea of bad people dying around him, as the party IS going to stamp out banditry.

He will come around and try to have a constructive dialog about this, as he IS wise enough to see that he is not flawless himself, and need to consider that ideals rarely translate well into action, and the backbone to act without hesitation is a thing that will likely save his life, even if it frightens him to admit it.

I agree. Thus the only "punishment" Tam receives is that a POS like Happs is agreeing with his tactics.

Male Human Fighter/2

Lolz not saying I agreed w Tam, in fact I got on and just saw that part and went "Ok...Random." Rest assured neither Tam or Mordecai will do such a thing again, although Mordecai might punch the offender in the face if he kept going on and on like that.

In any case, I apologize for me and Tam, not wanting to make us seem like we approve of murder GM Aria. in any case, this gives everyone a chance to see the faults of each other, but those always help strengthen the party later on...i hope :P

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor of Calistria 1

Hmm... I guess I'm the only one who didn't really mind that. Ugly yes, but just a shortcut to what James had already decided anyhow. Wierd. I suppose I'm pretty Chaotic and Pragmatic in real life though so... Oh well.

Yeah. I understand, but as a GM I have to take note of this kinda stuff, because it is important. Not just as being a potential evil act, but if your character is having a legitimate problem with his mental health, well... then a priest would be a good person to talk to. Unfortunately ours is not available, and I am not going to godmod a reaction and talking to from a character I am not familiar with.

I do have a sort of solution in mind, however. I did not want to have to play this so early, as it seems like a rail, but there are four of you and you'll have to agree to this course of action I propose.

But yes, I'd like to see a full party reaction before I continue with the bandits, and you guys haven't told me what you want to do to get information out of them. Make a diplo-do and me just posting what they can tell you, plus what Oleg can give you, and your quests, basically "fast forwarding" and getting on with the exploration, or... what?

Which reminds me I have to work on the exploration map... silly GM.

Male Human Universalist 2

Anyone can have that talk. A priest in a fantasy setting where a deity's spheres of influence limits his field of interests so much, priests are more akin to magical politicians than the real life counselor roles they adapt.

And I did roll a diplo to get them to spill beans. It is part of the repentance after all.

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor of Calistria 1

I agree with Stannis, it's really more of a "Needs to have a talk with someone". Which I fully support as his character seems to be coming a bit unravelled. As always, I see Good and Evil as questions of Motivation. If you're motivated by yourself, Evil, if it's for the good of few, Nuetral, if it's for the good of all/very many, Good. Personal view however, that clashes a bit with Dnd morality. Ah well.

As I said, there is a plan to help out Tam, and has been since before I sent you guys to Oleg's. The problem is if ya'll will agree to the suggestion of getting there sooner, or not.

Right now I am working on your "exploration map" in GIMP, and I should have a lengthy post up detailing the aftermath, with the information you get from the bandits, and your first "quests" and some stuff that Oleg and Svetlana will offer you.

But, yeah, lots of work today. Should have done it earlier, but got sidetracked by DF stuff and family stuff. Hope you guys can excuse me.

Okie doke, ya'll, drumming up a post now. Feel free to, if you want, narrate what yer up to/thinking, but yeah, working on movin' on.

Male Human Rouge Knife Fighter

Never planning on doing it again guys dont worry real life sorta spilled into character for a minute wont happen again

*ahem*

None of you have stated what you want to do with Happs... just... yeah.

Male Human Fighter/2

Lolz no worries GM Aria, me and Stanis are all over it. Apparently I am a giant now. WOO!

Male Human Fighter/2

Also, Stanis, what bonuses to CMB does being Enlarged give you? I know it gives u a size bonus and str but what are the specifics? in case GM Aria wants me to roll a CMB to pick Happs up.

Aria has posted what you will learn from Happs, because I don't want this to devolve into a question and answer session. What you guys decide to do with the bandits, or not, from this point on is a much more poignant issue.

Male Human Universalist 2

CMB for enlarge is +1 for str and +1 for size.

Aah, the river freedoms: Anti government, anti taxes, anti property... as well as anti slavery and pro freedom of speech, which is the only good thing about them according to any lawful character.

Stanislaw is going to have a ball with people spouting those. He knows them well, and he also knows that they are abused to the fullest by one of the arch enemies of Abadar: Gyronna - The Hag Goddess of Spite and Misfortune.

I think Stanis initially will be somewhat miserable at the prospect of settling an area of the River Kingdoms, and have to deal with the people there. So prepare for a strong pro-Brevoy vote in terms of what culture to further :P

No Mordecai, we do not have to play the death out. I just want james to agree to go with you to do it, first. I've already sorta gone ahead, but I'll have Svetlana come out and move you guys out of the funk in the evening with her amazing abilities of a peacemaker.

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor of Calistria 1

I agree, we'll move on... next morning perhaps?

Male Human Fighter/2

ok sounds good to me GM Aria. I know I'm playing the rough and tough Warrior, but in reality i rly hate hanging ppl or even the idea of it. that's just me tho, only reason I asked :)

To clarify, you do not have a location of the bandit's lair, because you have no map. You have a general direction which way they came from, and the idea that it is about a day's ride away.

poo, just realized I have to post the exploration rules now. Luckily I made myself up a neato chart in Word when I made my notes for the randoms. Sometimes I am smart.

Exploration rules

Traveling (Time to cross 1 hex)
Party Speed......Plains.........All Other Terrains
15 ft............11 hours.......16 hours
20 ft............8 hours........12 hours
30 ft............5 hours........8 hours
40 ft............4 hours........6 hours
50 ft............3 hours........5 hours

Exploring (Time to fully explore 1 hex)

Party Speed......Plains.......Forest or hill.....Mountain or Swamp
15 ft............3 days.......4 days.............5 days
20 ft............2 days.......3 days.............4 days
30 ft............1 day........2 days.............3 days
40 ft............1 day........1 day..............2 days
50 ft............1 day........1 day..............1 day

Kay guys, I am writing up a prior to departure post. No one has mentioned what they are picking up in terms of loot, if they are interested in selling stuff back to Oleg for gold at this time, or establishing some sort of credit for when he makes more items, how many of the horses you will be taking, etc.

You can do that in the OOC, just let me know what you're interested in taking.

Coz, you know, Mordecai that +2 strength adjusted composite longbow could be pretty sweet for flying creatures. Just sayin'... Although, I don't know if there's a negative for having more strength than the bow needs.

Male Human Fighter/2

Lolz I'll take the bow if no one else wants it, also I think we will sell the equipment we got from the bandits when we get back. also i'd like Oleg to keep the horses we aren't using, since we'll be taking one each i assume. :) also u don't take a penalty to use a bow w less str max. it just means I have to have equal to or greater than a +2 strength bonus to fire the bow

Male Human Universalist 2

Stanis claims a vial of antitoxin from Oleg's stock, to bolster his weakest save, and letting the combatants have the healing and protection.

Unless my math is off, and we keep the alchemist fire (Tam and James can have one each, I am thinking), the horses, the rations and the bow and arrows, we get 137 gp, which split 5 ways is 72gp and 4 silver. (Assuming the bandits have bows, and did not chuck arrows at people) If James wants a longbow, shave off 15gp each.

Did i not add the three longbows to the list of loot? I suppose that was my mistake. Haha. Silly of me to do so...

Male Human Fighter/2

i'm not quite sure we get that much gold each with 137 split 5 ways. ok so jus to clarify the looting system (sorry other game still wrankling me) we delcare what loot we each want first, then we sell and split? do u want someone who takes an item to not take the gold or do we split the gold all evenly once people have chosen their new gear? :)

Okay, it is a composite longbow. Damn, I must have made the loot list on crack or something. I don't remember messing up this bad.

*laughs*

hindsight is always 20/20.

And yes, take what you need and nab the gold later. I am not a fan of having to pay for stuff that you need to be effective. And if there is an item that more than one of you can use, like a belt of strength, I am assuming that you can solve the problem like adults, or remember that Strength is the fighter's primary stat and he should probably have it first.

Just sayain...

Male Human Fighter/2

lolz thanks for clarifying Aria, Mordecai would certainly LIKE a belt like that ;D lolz. yeah I am the last person to be a stickler on loot mongering, I see a shiny sword, I roleplay it that Mordecai picks it up. (If Ladislaus uses swords too, me and him can work it out :) ) but if i see something that the others should use or can use, i'll abstain and pass it on to them. honestly tho, the chances of me finding a better bastard sword minus buying one are slim at my estimations but it's always nice to hope ^^

Poor editing on my part. Meant to say 362, but forgot the bows myself, until logic kicked in.

That being said, if there is one ending up walking the lands with next to nothing, I will expect the rest of the party to chip in to even out the difference when I take craft feats.

Also; want me to make stuff, I will ask for the component price. Magic is hella expensive.

Male Human Fighter/2

Well does anyone else want a bow? Maybe James for a better ranged attack than his handcrossbow? Not to say u need to get rid of it, but as i understand the weapon it has limited range. a longbow might be useful in a fight where u don't want to close with the enemy :) i am pretty sure tam won't need one unless he says he does, as all he uses is daggers.

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor of Calistria 1

James can't even wield a longbow, so none for him thanks. And so far I'm behind the loot ideas.

But... I have one of my own. I'm a big fan of splitting the treasure Party+1 ways. Then we use the +1 share of treasure on things to benefit the entire party (healing potions, expensive helpful scrolls, resurrections). This way we all end up with a bit less gold, but a big ole nest egg in case we require something important. Any thoughts on this?

Male Human Fighter/2

of definetly, wands, potions, scrolls and other such "all-party" useful items should be ommitted from the stuff we sell :) having a seperate "party loot" helps when ur running a big game and u know ur going into a big fight. u spend the party loot to get potions to heal and other stuff and then if anyone, say Tam, wants a potion of cat's grace, he could buy it from his own pocket afterwards :)

AHAHAHAHAHA!!

James, did you just hit on Kesten Garess?

*laughs heartily*

Male Human Fighter/2

awwwwwkward. >.>

Male Half-Elf Inquisitor of Calistria 1

What? The only tall, dark man in armor around before him had no interest. A man has needs Aria!!

EDIT: Did Kest Garress just hit on me back?

Well, in my RL game, Kesten walked up to my not well endowed cleric of Sarenrae from Qadira who I had wearing the traditional dress of her country, you know, showing nothing of her figure, and basically said to her "well, since you're the only female here, i guess I can talk to you" with an air of if i'll be getting some out of my efforts, so it was funny to me.

No reason why Kesten can't be bisexual, though. I mean, he is a mercenary. He's probably used to hanging out with dudes a lot.

Edit: Yes, James, Kesten did.

Male Human Fighter/2

(As tam)

I just want a crossbow sometime, will order and then a grappling bolt lol,

while yes I just realized I can break this class by wielding a rapier for combat and only use a dagger for sneak attacks to use the d8 damage I much prefer the idea of only using knives so for loot. I only need gold and knives unless theres a nifty item to help my skills stats etc..

Male Human Universalist 2

Stanis is not having his best day. Gone from being authority to being disregarded by the damn hired guard makes Stanis a dull boy.

Intimidate in this context is more a measure of presence and leaving an impression. Not so much "Hey, wimp! Give me your lunch money!"

Edit: Also noticed that I have consequently rolled 16 or higher on bluff and intimidate. Skills in which I have not a single rank or a bonus. Is the message-boards subtly telling me I should have rolled a sorc? :P

Not going to add your voice to the decision about where to go, Tam?

Basically waiting on Mordecai's reaction and if James wants to pursue anything with Kesten before ya'll leave. Also a solid plan of attack like "hey, we're going to explore/map this hex around oleg's and come straight back, or, we're going to explore/map this hex around Oleg's and all the surrounding hexes so we're not more than a few hours ride away from our cleric if we need him" or some definitive plan before we continue.

Male Human Rouge Knife Fighter

Well as Tam really fdoesnt have much exp with the outdoors besides alleys haha I dont think he really cares and would go along with what the party decides what I forgot is that he wouldve mentioned Olges request at least to his brother if not everyone else...unless that was meant only for Tam

Up to you. I give you information which might be valuable to your character, and it's up to you to decide what to do with it. I can only push so hard.

If ya want Mordecai to get in on sister action, is cool. :P Heck, why not even James :)

Male Human Rouge Knife Fighter

Lol now im slightly confused how far off is this sister lol if close enough tam would go if not going to have to arrange this....carefully lol *meaningful look at James* course james might be hangin at the barracks alot lol

You can ask Oleg here for more information, I would rather not clog up the game board with retconning.
