About Stanislaw Quill

Stanislaw, or Stanis, is an up and coming social servant. He relishes in helping others, and serve through offering legal advice when needed. He is a faithful servant of Abadar, believing in order as the ultimate tool to further social cohesion, being more about making the laws and social norms fit the people, than the other way around. Likely from being raised near the freedom-loving River Kingdoms.

Description:
Stanislaw is a spindly man that few people would notice in a crowded room. He is not much of a sight to behold, beyond a having a healthy Rostlander body, and does not stand out until he opens his mouth. If you care to listen, Stanis has a rather strange and unusual way with words, and if you are able to follow his rapid-fire mind, you will find that he is a wellspring of knowledge. He favors mostly neutral colors of white, brown and light green, in stark contrast with his gold-winged and red-tailed thrush familiar, which is something pretty to rest your eyes on, which Stanis frequently uses to his advantage when he desires people's attention.

Quizzie:
1. What is your full name?
"Stanislaw 'Stanis the Quill' Branthorn"

2. Where and when were you born?
Restov

3. Who are/were your parents? (Know their names, occupations, personalities, etc.)
Boris Branthorn, accountant.
Mirian Branthorn, librarian.
And gods, are they as intellectual, yet boring, as they sound.

4. Do you have any siblings? What are/were they like?
Younger sister Beatrice, who is serving the faith as a scribe. Also drab and plain.
And Dragomir, older brother, who serves on the Mayor's staff as a financial consultant.

5. Do you have any quirks, strange mannerisms, annoying habits, or other defining characteristics?
Stanis social interaction carries a sense of being almost rehearsed. As if he has practiced thousands of responses, lines and mannerisms to let his intelligence make up for a mediocre innate charisma.

6. What do you consider the most important event of your life so far?
Earning his spellbook and mastering magic.

7. Who has had the most influence on you?
The church of Abadar, in which the family has a long tradition.

8. What do you consider your greatest achievement?
Publishing a book that sold well, and got the approval of his idol.

9. What is the most evil thing you have ever done?
Set his sister Beatrice up to be made a fool of in front of the entire congregation at her confirmation ritual, as part of a long-running escalating sibling rivalry.

10. Do you have a criminal record of any kind?
Perish the though!

11. What do you believe makes a successful life?
Devoted study, hard work, diligence and planning.

12. How honest are you about your thoughts and feelings (i.e. do you hide your true self from others, and in what way)?
He has no real talent in concealing how he feels, but will keep his silence if he knows better. He is very proud of his true albeit anal self, and does not try to hide it.

13. Is there anything you absolutely refuse to do under any circumstances? Why do you refuse to do it?
Steal, for one. As it goes against the entire foundation of his faith, and his personal code of diligence and honest work. He is lawful and good, meaning he has a strong moral backbone, and as such, there is a lot of things that he would not do.

14. Who or what, if anything, would you die for (or otherwise go to extremes for)?
He is a "careful" man (i.e; a bit of a coward), and is afraid of dying, like most. He would go to extremes, such as selling most everything he has, or entering debt, for his friends and family.

15. Who is the most important person in your life, and why?
His mentor Vladimir, likely. The man who taught him magic, and made him realize his potential.

16. Who is the person you respect the most, and why? The venerable Professor Jeane Sidzehl at the university in Absalom, who has written several texts on the arcane, and serves as Stanis' rolemodel.

17. Who are your friends? Do you have a best friend? Describe these people.
He had a hard time winning friends on his own merit as a child, being somewhat awkward, but a lot of guidance, patient parents and supporting congregation led him to attain a reasonable level of social skill. During this all, he gained many friends in the faith, as well as a clique of similar "nerds" in the legal scene of Restov. His best friend is Linda Belvyek, secretary to the magistrate, with whom Stanis was romantically entangled, until they had sex, which was horribly awkward, and realized they should just be friends instead.

19. Have you ever been in love? If so, describe what happened.
I just did!

20. What do you look for in a potential lover?
Intellect and appreciation of intellect, patience, kindness, family values and moral fiber. Appearance is a plus, but not required. More important that she takes care of herself. Favors small, petite women, as he is rather wimpy, so big and strong women kinda intimidate him.

21. Do you tend to argue with people, or avoid conflict?
A constructive argument is food for the mind.
Quarreling with idiots is rat-poison for the mind.

22. Do you tend to take on leadership roles in social situations?
Rarely. Prefer to offer guidance and counsel, rather than stand up in front.

23. Do you like interacting with large groups of people? Why or why not?
No. He is not orator in the least. If he can get them one-on-one or in smaller groups, he is fine with that.

24. Do you care what others think of you?
To a certain degree, yes. The faith preaches that appearances is important.

25. Do you smoke, drink, or use drugs? If so, why? Do you want to quit?
He both smokes and drinks in very moderate amounts. He finds that alcohol in large amounts dulls his mind, and with his mind being his defining characteristic, that is rather unpleasant to experience. He is not a slave to his vices, and has no cause to get rid of them.

26. What, if anything, shocks or offends you?
Lots of things, really. Most felony level crimes, total disregard of laws and social paradigms, as well as acts of "capital E" evil.

27. How do you deal with stress?
Smoke a pipe and read a book.

28. What is your greatest strength as a person?
His intellect, and his strong moral conviction to use it for the greater good.

29. What is your greatest weakness?
His physical weakness and lack of outdoors skills.

30. What are your reasons for being an adventurer (or doing the strange and heroic things that RPG characters do)? Are your real reasons for doing this different than the ones you tell people in public? (If so, detail both sets of reasons…)
He has a strong wish to make something more of himself, apply his skills and talents, challenge himself. The opportunity came knocking when he learned of the exploration charter that Noleski Surtova put forth to map the frontier south of Brevoy. His secret reason is that he wishes to become someone admirable himself, a figure for future apprentices to idolize. A slight hero fantasy that is hard to explain without seeming somewhat silly, what with his puny silhouette being pretty much the antithesis of a stereotypical hero.

31. What goal do you most want to accomplish in your lifetime?
As detailed above.

32. If you knew you were going to die in 24 hours, name three things you would do in the time you had left. Write a will, try to find a way to undo this doom, or write letters to thank his friends, family and influences if it seemed inevitable. Then likely bang a really expensive prostitute and smoke some exotic pipe-weed.

33. What is the one thing for which you would most like to be remembered after your death?
My conviction and the achievements therein.
