I'm not sure which one we'd chosen. It looks like you're there right now, but I can ignore Jyoti's intro of you in the name of making things work how you envisioned them. If you'd rather be separated, I have other things I can have you do in spoilers, if you'd like.
Just a Mort |
Was working on GM Aest assumption that we would all go. In that case, Jyoti would have been holding Gorsk's hand at the start if the whole thing, introduced Gorsk, then Mirode.
Just a Mort |
I think I need a map. Considering using colourspray, but it won't do if I can't see where everyone is - including Ilya's mother. I don't want friendly fire. Will get Minali clawing baddies if colourspray won't work due to positioning.
GM Aest |
Map is up. There's a link at the top of the campaign and another in my alias header (where your stats are).
Just a Mort |
Urgh. My sympathies. Hope they catch the culprit and put him to jail.
Mirode Sharo |
Do you ever do that thing where you're doing something and then *BAM* you realize you made a mistake days ago? I just realized that while Mirode might understand people because of the language potion that doesn't mean they can understand her
/facepalm
Just a Mort |
Tis ok, I just need a diagnosis, doc. I don't know what's wrong with Lajja, but common sense tells me we need to ger her out of the house so she doesn't see us start a fight in there. If we keep her from the scene of violence, with Rasji, she might calm down.
I suppose you tried to talk to the thugs, just to remember you don't speak their language, no?
GM Aest |
I just spent forever on a post, only to accidentally close the tab. I'll be redoing it tomorrow. Sorry.
GM Aest |
I use GoogleDrive for anything that's not roll-dependent, but sometimes, I really need to know what the rolls are while I'm writing. Hence, my accidental close of the tab. Thanks though.
Just a Mort |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Ah yes, the dreaded post eating monster of the paizo boards. Many a time I have fallen prey to that dastardly villian. I've realized copying your post on your mobile device usually suffices before posting, especially when you lose connection just on the moment of post when your train goes underground.
Think in the spirit of Thomas Edison when his workshop burnt tonthe ground. "Thank god our mistakes have been destroyed in the fire. Now we start anew."
Just a Mort |
Oooh, evil in the basement. I was expecting petty criminal evil, and not true evil.
Mirode Sharo |
If horror movies have taught me anything it's that there's always something evil in the basement. That and the notion that maybe if you hear a strange noise outside you don't have to open the door and go check. Stay inside, grab a baseball bat, prepare for battl.e
Just a Mort |
Thing is that it could mean either an evil outsider, undead, or a cleric of an evil deity, or creature with evil alignment of HD 5 and above. Probably not undead...the smell >.< Unless its a skeleton in the basement. Yuck! Some news is worse then others =)
GM Aest |
Hello, all.
I’d like to begin with an apology. I’m sorry for how this game has gone. I’ve tried to get excited about it, and I’ve tried to power through my lack of interest, but I’m starting to realize that this game’s not doing anything for me and that’s why its posting speed is so much lower than those in my other games.
This doesn’t have anything to do with any of you, of course. You all have great characters, and I’d love to run a game for you, but this one’s not it. So this is my proposal.
I can’t run this game anymore. But I can run any of a number of APs with you guys and whatever characters you’d like. Would you, as a group, be interested in any of the following?
Rise of the Runelords, Council of Thieves, Carrion Crown, Second Darkness, or Kingmaker?
If not, I can certainly pick up and run other APs, but those are the ones I’m most familiar with at this point. Or, alternatively, I can run a module or two with you.
Colonel Tipper |
Sorry you lost interest. Thanks for the explanation.
I would rather not do Rise of the Runelords, as I am currently in a monthly home game of that.
I am also in a weekly home game of Kingmaker, but based on lurking in your other game that one seems very replayable. Are you sure you want to run two different groups through the same AP at the same time? Although I would want to adjust his background and skills a bit, I could easily see a retired Taldan military person getting involved with that sort of plot.
I have not played any of the other APs. Going by Paizo's descriptions, of the ones you listed Carrion Crown or Council of Thieves seem the most interesting to me. The later would probably require more changes to The Colonel's background and personality.
GM Aest |
Oh no! I forgot Curse of the Crimson Throne. I have that one too.
EDIT: It's certainly not necessary to keep the same characters, either. Let's figure out if everyone is game to try again, then see what we want to do about characters.
Mirode Sharo |
I'm sorry to see the game go but I totally understand, it's not the same if your heart isn't in it.
As you know I'm already in a Kingmaker game. I'm not interested in running a second AP of it, it wouldn't be the same with a different party, but I'm up for anything else. My swashbuckler's been collecting dust and I'd LOVE to pull her out again. :D
Just a Mort |
Yeah, no point continuing if your heart isn't in it. At the end of the day, GMs need their fun too! I salute you for even attempting to run homebrew stuff, it's rough.
Hrmmm...Carrion Crown is rather undead + haunt heavy, I'm in ROTR already(my advice is to go find a way to play it if you haven't ;)). Feth - that's also my source of "can't raze Sandpoint to the ground".
Council of Thieves is...eh if you're interested in playing big damn heroes, not so likely, its more of a gray on gray morality scale.
I tend to want to play on the big damn heroes side of the screen, because locally, the morality is sorta dubious.
I'd vote for Second Darkness, Curse of Crimson Throne followed by Carrion Crown.
BTW - please note I have read part of Megan's PBP of Curse of Crimson Throne. Sorry, I'm a fan of Varrel
Oh my AP knowledge = Gossip, lots of gossip, and more gossip. Maybe I'm not as anti-social as I appear to be ;) Again, I sort of pride myself as a walking encyclopedia of sorts...lore of any sort is to be collected :)
Depending on what finally ends up on the list, I may switch characters depending on what the group needs.
Gosk Tereus |
I'm game for another game! Sorry that you couldn't get your heart into the game, I was personally enjoying it quite a bit.
Council of Thieves does sound quite interesting, to be fair.
I was in a Curse of the Crimson Throne game for a while, it ended somewhere in the middle of the first book, I think (We were level 2).
Regarding Carrion Crown, I'm quite interested as well. Probably going to finally play a paladin. Or not.
But yeah, I'm game!
GM Aest |
I have no problems with prior knowledge. At least two of my Kingmaker players are in one or more Kingmakers.
Preferences:
Feth: No Preference, Not Kingmaker.
Gosk: Carrion Crown, Council of Thieves, Curse of the Crimson Throne.
Just a Mort: Second Darkness, Curse of the Crimson Throne, Carrion Crown
Colonel: Carrion Crown, Council of Thieves.
= = = = = = = = = =
@Just a Mort: I played in Megan's game for a bit. Eventually my real life got really serious and I had to drop it. It was after you stopped reading, though.
@Mirode: I kind of feel the same way about running a second Kingmaker, especially with a couple of people who know what I did in the first one.
@Everyone: My personal preferences lean toward Carrion Crown or Curse of the Crimson Throne. However, it's up to you all. Thanks for your understanding, even if you are disappointed.
Colonel Tipper |
I could also do Curse of the Crinsom Throne. I had responded before you put that on the list. Sounds like it is between that and Carrion Crown.
I will dig a little more deeply, try to figure out which of the two looks more interesting. Right now, either of those seems acceptable based on my very limited knowledge.
Just a Mort |
I think if we do Curse of Crimson Throne, I'll reroll as a witch, if Carrion Crown, I'll reroll as a Shaman.
Mirode Sharo |
The thing I want to play the most is my Swashbuckler, not a specific campaign ;)
So, we're going with either Curse of the Crimson Throne or Carrion Crown, yes? I'm happy with either, but between the two I'd rather play Carrion Crown. Everybody else should say which of the two they like better, because I don't want to be the deciding vote :p
GM Aest |
I personally would prefer Carrion Crown as well. I've had a shot at both, but Carrion Crown was subbing in as GM for an established group. I'd love to see what a fresh group would make of it.
Just a Mort |
I'm good for Carrion Crown then. How much downtime will we be having? (I.e feasible for crafting?)
Now for homework....*takes out reading glasses to bury self in book*
I've run and played Carrion Hill before, many fun moments.
GM Aest |
Alright, sounds like Carrion Crown would be a good choice for everyone. I'll re-read the first book and start developing necessary personalities.
GM Aest |
So, how does next week sound as a rough starting date? Also, does everyone feel more or less okay with the roles you have (if not the classes), or would you like to trade them?
Just a Mort |
Could we get a list of races/sourcebooks, point buy, rules for Carrion Crown, all in one document, so that everything is clear for start? Maybe it might be better to create a new PBP and put the campaign info up there, as well as opening discussion?
Will we be using the Harrow deck?
I'm ok with next week start - looking at a shaman (spirit guide) archtype - life spirit.
GM Aest |
Sure, I'll get a new campaign set up and link it here. It'll be a bit later, though. I'll think about the Harrow Deck and other stuff.
Colonel Tipper |
I had to look up Spirit Warden. It is a Shaman archetype and seems very appropriate for a character going into Ustalov.
I think that I will stay a human Investigator. I'll make some changes to Colonel Tipper, but I think he will still be ex-military from Taldor and proud of it.
Should I change it so he is a bit more inclined to use subtly and trickery? He would still have a strong moral code, but I played him here as having been burned a few times by people getting too tricky. I don't need to keep that part of the personality.
Just a Mort |
Strange, I looked at the map of Ustalav, decided on where I would start from, then Ustalav started seeping into her, and it turned her into someone rather cynical and jaded, and the "I'm not a people person" sort.
GM Aest |
Okay, here's the new campaign.
This thread will remain open until everyone's checked in and dotted over there, then it will be made inactive.
GM Aest |
Also, the other one is fixed too!
