I'm definitely interested in Starfinder! But most of my normal gaming IRL friends have left regular Pathfinder behind for other games (Numenera). I will probably try a PBP game eventually if I can find one. I gotta get the book(s) first however.
My IRL DM pre-oredered it, so I imagine we'll be playing it very soon.

There are definitely gonna be ships in the rulebook. First contact was just a bestiary.
I can confirm nothing regarding the presence or absence of mechs, but I don't think we're getting those (yet?)
I really hope they are significantly more fleshed out ships, than the poor excuse they have for ships now.

You know, Vitranna, that you opened a pandora's box. By using a skill normally used against NPCs on a fellow PC, that same PC can now use a skill normally used to influence NPCs against another PC.
From around the big warrior's legs walks a Diplomacy +13 skill check in the shape of a furry cat. Jolis picks up the cat and coos "Soon, my pet. Soon."

Serious answer: I have no problem with people using certain rolls to aid roleplaying. For example, a bluff check to see how convincing a lie is, or a diplomacy check to see how convincingly you can argue your point. I do it that way because sometimes a PC may be very good (or very bad) at something their player is very bad (or very good) at. A high bluff roll for example would say "My character is an incredibly convincing liar, even if I can't come up with a good lie myself."
I do not count any of these rolls as providing a mechanical benefit against another PC. At that point, it starts creeping towards PvP territory. And while I don't outright ban pvp in my games, I do highly discourage it outside of certain extreme situations.
I'm good. Vitranna's reaction is a combination of a lot of things, but mostly its for Jolis' own sake. 'Getting him out of her sight!' so she can calm down kinda thing more than anything else here.
Or else...blunt spear end to the nethers.
