A young ninja wearing the face of another receives a letter bearing her family seal – an order to kill a ship captain and make it look like an accident at sea. A man of science, displaced in time and space, learns of a powerful wizard in the land of Nex who seeks to master the secrets of planar travel. An orphaned witch, exiled from the only home she’s ever known, is urged further south and beyond the sea by forces she does not yet fully comprehend. A seeker of song and a seeker of storms, unused to being so far away from their own people, each leave their old homes behind in search of a greater calling. The son of a god, eager to craft his own legend, seeks the power he will need to become divine in his own right.
Six strangers board a ship together, each on their own path, ignorant to the goals and struggles of those around them. Certainly, after a few short weeks, they would have gone on their separate ways, never to see each other again. But when someone pulls at the strings of fate to draw them in, their destinies are suddenly set on a radically different route.
It will be up to you whether you whether you try to go back to your old life, or set out on this new road set before you.
Feel free to chat, ask questions, or get to know each other a bit. I need to finalize a few things, but the gameplay thread should go up in a couple of days. Houserules will go in the campaign info tab soon. This is my first time GMing a pbp campaign, so I am open to any feedback about how I'm doing.

Jolis Cailean |

Hi, everyone. I'm so excited to start this adventure with you all.
Taken from Jolis's Description Tab:
Jolis is a tall, powerfully-built human male with taldane features. The absolomian wears his brown hair short, and his face has a short, neat roguish beard. He wears a mithral shirt under his clothes for maximum mobility, to deceive opponents, and to take full advantage of his speed. On his wooden shield and his neck rests the symbol of Cayden Cailean. Sadly, because of this, Jolis is often confused for a cleric. He carries a masterwork longsword and heavy crossbow into battle.

Hi everyone
Thanks for picking my PC gm
Sorry to ask but is this going to be the gameplay thread?

Stormspeaker Vitranna |

Greetings everyone! I promise a bigger post ASAP!

Valeriya |

Yay campaign time! So excited for this one to start!
I like Jolis' idea of posting descriptions here. Helps me picture what everyone looks like and keeps the campaign tab a bit lighter.
Valeriya is an average height for her race at 5'3" She is slim and modestly endowed. This combined with her short, pixie cut give her a very youthful look. It is easy to mistake her for being younger than she is, not that she's very old. Like most changelings, her hair is a very dark brown and her skin is uncommonly pale.
Her most distinctive feature are her eyes. They are fully heterochromatic. This means that her left eye is blue and her right eye is green. This can happen in humans but it's rare. It is one of the surest signs that a person is a Changeling however.
Her fingernails, while not overly long compared to a humans, are hard and sharp enough to be used as a lethal weapon. In private, she likes to scratch them against wood to keep them manageable.
Valeriya is not especially graceful nor is she clumsy. She can walk well enough to keep the hem of her dress clean and avoid tripping on it but she doesn't have the grace of a dancer. She walks with a confident step, ensuring that people do not ignore her easily. It is not the regal bearing of a noblewoman but the assured posture of a merchant.
Her general outfit is a simple brown full-body dress designed for everyday use and sturdy leather boots without a heel. When she travels, she adds a belt with pouches for carrying her spell components and a dark blue wool cloak for weather protection.
Small note: Valeriya is an Ulfen but uses an Irisseni (read Russian) naming convention. Valeriya is therefore her full name (like Danielle) and people who know her call her by her nickname Lera (like Dani). Nicknames are pretty common and important in Russian naming convention according my research.

Viska |

And this is Valeriya's Familiar.
A male fox: its fur is orange and soft to the touch. To look at him, one would think it's an entirely normal fox. The inquisitive glint in his eye suggests otherwise...
I'll only use this alias if it's something that Viska is doing entirely by himself like scouting or something.

Grelda Bonehammer |

I'm excited to be a part of this game! Not a lot of time to post right now but I will get something up soon. :)

Jolis Cailean |

This is definitely an eclectic group. I'm getting a cool 'X-Men' vibe. There are SEVERAL 'party face' candidates, some with multiple faces! It's so cool we have a skald AND a bard in the party. That's sure to liven up any campfire!
Stuck in a small town, my gaming groups are often sausagefests. Playing with 4 female PCs, and having a female DM, I feel this campaign will be a breath of fresh air!

Most of my characters are smurfettes so I agree.
However, full disclosure, I am a man IRL.

Hi Guys I tend to make fun PCs, as I like fun games,
I tend to play by the "Rule of cool", and "The PC is IN the Fluff" way.
My PC is a shiftier as you may have spotted. At the moment she is sticking to one look, but when the need to time comes, she will show she can change. Right now, her Physical description.
LOOKS LIKE THIS.
A simple happy go lucky young monk, very playful and child like at times.
She is out seeing the world with a smile, seems quit harmless.
As you have a fox Familiar, Miya will be very friendly to Viska, offing him tit-bits of food, playing with him and talking to him. When ever he comes close.

And that is why I said PCs, and not players.

Viska yips happily and noms all tidbits of food that Miya offers.

Oh I figured given your wording. I just don't want to give false impressions. I tend to have problems with not getting meaning across sometimes so I try to make steps to preempt that.
I'll be posting about the houserules soon, but I just wanted to check and make sure everyone is okay with using Automatic Bonus Progression at the expense of more mundane loot. I have no problem with using it, but I just want to make sure all of the players are comfortable with it.
Automatic Bonus Progression is my favorite new rule system. I want it to be standard for all games.

Miya Setsuko Fuyaki |

ABP is fine with me, be fun to see how far up ABP we get.

Richard Groves |

While I prefer the flexibility and uniqueness that magic item loot provides (example Bandolier, Beneficial)...I will not complain if the group wants to go ABP Route.
For Gameplay:
I enjoy the exploring the psychological cause and effect of relationships. The more realistic the better. While I may try and evoke emotional responses from other players characters, please understand that I do not intend to upset players. If, at a personal level, anyone gets upset at anything my character does, please let me know and I will adjust my gameplay.
Just like Johnny Panic, I'm here for fun, and I will do everything I can to make it fun for everyone else.

GM Mimi |

Hm. So. Apparently the preview button does not work on the campaign info tab. So instead of retyping all of that tonight, I'm just gonna give you the cliffnotes for now.
1) Everybody has three hero points. In addition to all of the standard options for hero points, I have a couple more.
The goal of these options is to keep players active and fighting in very dicey encounters, as the typical Cheat Death ability is unfortunately pretty useless when the healers get dropped early (or worse, the entire party).
2) During certain encounters, I will enable the Crit Generator. I will post at the start of each encounter whether the generator is On or Off. I find that the generator is usually more impactful than the usual double damage. However, a player can "opt out" of using the generator at any time by simply rolling their extra damage as normal. Otherwise, I will roll on it and post the result.
3) The Good Roleplaying Bonus (aka Rule of Cool) is the most self-explanatory. Cool, badass, dramatic, or compelling roleplay will grant players minor bonus for a single actions (usually a +1, +2, or +3 on a roll).
For the most part, this is going to be an invisible buff, meaning I will apply it to the roll without announcing it. I find that telling players every time they get a bonus leads to "keeping score", and I don't want to encourage the idea that anyone can "win" at roleplaying. But, if someone rolls a 19 to successfully break down a door that should have been a DC 20, this is why.
Questions?

The site is currently experiencing massive load, causing it to crash under the weight. Matt Thomason is U.K. time which means right now he's likely in bed (2 am there). You can still access the Google Sites version of the site at
https://sites.google.com/site/pathfinderogc/
BUT no new content has been added there since the changeover to Wordpress, including Bestiary 6. We'll be working tomorrow to ensure that a) this doesn't happen again or b) I am able to do complete system restarts without waiting for him.

Actually I really don't like ABP to tell you the truth. Sorry. That's my opinion. Not that I'd put up a fuss over it. But the ABP rules give me a headache.

Luckily, they're really easy right now. You only have to put +1 to all saves as though you were wearing a Cloak of Resistance +1.
As things go forward you'll gain boons as laid out by the ABP chart. Next level, we'll gain the equivalent of a +1 armor and a +1 weapon.
The big things to remember are that:
1. There are no purely stat boosting items like the Cloak of Resistance.
2. Anything like the Jingasa of the Fortunate Soldier that boosted a stat and gave another effect only has the additional effect as is cheaper as a result.
2a. There are still magic swords and armor. You can only buy the special qualities like Flaming or Holy.
3. Our Wealth by Level the table is there you just gotta scroll a bit expectations are half of what's on the table. Right now the table says 3,000. So our starting gold is 1,500 instead.

Jolis Cailean |

So, since we are all 3rd level, under ABP rules, we should add a +1 resistance to our characters?

Valeriya |

So, since we are all 3rd level, under ABP rules, we should add a +1 resistance to our characters?
Yes indeed. That will increase as our levels do. Honestly I have pinned the table just for easy reference because d20pfsrd makes you go through a few menus to get to it.

Jolis Cailean |

I'm okay with ABP. It'll stop me from continually hoping to find a belt of giant's strength +6.

Grelda Bonehammer |

I've never played with ABP, but I'm willing to give it a try. Seems like a simple enough system.

Grelda Bonehammer |

Compared to the orcs of her tribe, Grelda is as beautiful as a rose in the desert. Standing 5'8" and weighing just over 200 pounds, she has a solid, muscular frame, though her brawn doesn't detract from her womanly curves. Her olive skin bears numerous old scars and is decorated with mystic tattoos, swirls of red, blue, and black dancing across her body. A pair of small tusks peek out from her lips. She wears her green-tinged hair in a ponytail with the sides shaved.
She is normally clad in a breastplate over a sturdy leather jerkin and breeches. A set of tribal war drums hangs by her waist, along with twin bone clubs fashioned out of femurs.
Appearance (You'll have to imagine the tattoos.)

Stormspeaker Vitranna |

I guess I'm overruled then.
Sorry, I'm at home sick today. I'll try and post again later and update my character when I can.

Grelda Bonehammer |

Richard, I don't mind being your roommate if nobody else wants to volunteer.

Jolis Cailean |

I'm East Coast as well, but I have the added benefit of working 3rd shift, and having acess to the internet, so if I'm dominating the posts, please tell me. So far I'm loving the hell out of this RP!

Stormspeaker Vitranna |

I'm central time (Texas), just really busy. Sorry for the dearth of posts comparatively to some.
