"What is that?!" Xavier exclaims. He moves close and attempts to smash it with his staff.
After Vermin moves, this is what I will do, if he hasn't Shilleghley'd it to pieces.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14 for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

d20 + 3 for d6 + 4
Does that include my +1/+1?

![]() |

Hmm. Vermin currently only has a move of 20 and people are in the way, based you where you have him. But I had asked to move to the lower right of the map before combat had started. That is where i made the 26 perception role from.
So, if Vermin is where he is shown he delays and says Get outa ma charge lane!
But if he has indeed moved to F9, where I thought he was, he charges the creature stopping in D9.
Charge with Staff: 1d20 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 2 + 1 = 81d6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 = 8
I think more than a minute would have passed so Shillelagh is no longer active. The problem with that spell is that it has a short duration and takes a standard to get going,
Edit - Great; a 1. Now I am hoping the DM rules that I had not moved to the bottom of the map. ;)

If the stank isn't dead by Fung's turn, I holler out: Fung...wait for me! I'll grease the stank up!
If Fung delays, I will Cast Grease on Fung's shirt/arms. This would give Fung a +10 to escape artist or CMD.
A grease spell covers a solid surface with a layer of slippery grease. Any creature in the area when the spell is cast must make a successful Reflex save or fall. A creature can walk within or through the area of grease at half normal speed with a DC 10 Acrobatics check. Failure means it can't move that round (and must then make a Reflex save or fall), while failure by 5 or more means it falls (see the Acrobatics skill for details). Creatures that do not move on their turn do not need to make this check and are not considered flat-footed .
The spell can also be used to create a greasy coating on an item. Material objects not in use are always affected by this spell, while an object wielded or employed by a creature requires its bearer to make a Reflex saving throw to avoid the effect. If the initial saving throw fails, the creature immediately drops the item. A saving throw must be made in each round that the creature attempts to pick up or use the greased item. A creature wearing greased armor or clothing gains a +10 circumstance bonus on Escape Artist checks and combat maneuver checks made to escape a grapple, and to their CMD to avoid being grappled .

Thought so...
Fung steels himself, forcing down the urge to panic, and waits for Harper to act...
EDIT: After the grease spell goes off, Fung attempts to wriggle free, then roll back away from the ick!
CMB to break free: 1d20 + 2 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 10 = 20
Acrobatics to leave area w/o AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

GM Nel |

Fung easily moves out of that thing! Its Escape Artist or STR check to make it out. But moor as its CMD is a whopping 6
Harper, do you want a move action?
The Ooze, not knowing better, tries to attack Xavier next.
ATK:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
DMG:1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
DMG (acid):1d3 ⇒ 2
CMB (grab):1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Thankfully, Xavier was able to avoid getting grabbed by it, although he got hurt by the ooze's acidic body.
Doesn't move. Griff up

![]() |

Standard Action: Selectively Channel Positive Energy (Excluding the Ooze).
Heal: 1d6 ⇒ 3 to the party.
Griff will stay where he is. (Since he can channel the whole room from his position)

![]() |

Sorry, I assumed it was a grapple. If it had to be either or, the roll was the same as my STR check.
EDIT: I'm only down by 2 hp now! Yay! Thanks Griff!

![]() |

It's my job, ;)

![]() |

No move.
Wow that is a crappy CMD for a creature who grapples! I was afraid if Fung spent another round in it's grasp that he would be d-e-d (dead). ;)

Vermin should be standing next to the thing. If he can 5 foot step into a flank or help provide a flank for someone else he does. Then he attacks the creature using Two Weapon Fighting.
First Swing: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 3 + 1 = 191d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 4 + 1 = 9
Second Swing Swing: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 1 = 141d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 1 = 9
posting from my phone, which is a pain.

Whew, Fung plops down and pulls out his healer's kit applying a simple salve to his arm... Is there anything else like that thing in here? he asks as he looks at any suspicious goop nearby...

![]() |

Vermin examines both ends of his quarter staff to make sure the weapon was not damaged. It's a good stick. Would not want to loose it. To Fung he says Yes. Check the door. If it looks safe, open it.

![]() |

Fung heads to the door again, wary for other nasties that might jump him and listens at the door again.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

![]() |

By the smell of that room, I would surmise that it is full of the alluring musk of a hundred virile half orcs! I hope they are as nice as Vermy!!!

![]() |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

You are still getting it wrong little one. Vermin leans over and places his arm pit entirely over the halfling's head enveloping the little bard. Breath deeply and learn the differen,ce.
>:)

![]() |

Sniffs in deeply...
Hmmm...You are correct!
Gags a little...
It is much worse. Probably the musk of only fifty half orcs then
Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

GM Nel |

Door busts in without a problem. The stench in this room is quite palpable and sickening.
Lucc, you are now *sickened*.
This cramped chamber stinks of something worse than rotten eggs. A black mildew covers the walls and the three doors that lie beyond the entrance. Each has a small metal slot at its bottom, but the latched covers long ago rusted away. These are most definitely cells. The first one next to you lies open, and inside you can see the remains of a prisoner. He has a letter in his hand definitely in a language you (Luccinus) do not recognize. The letter is brittle and browned with age. It's broken seal features a Kirin flying amid three clouds.

![]() |

Covering his mouth and nose, Fung recoils at the strong smell, briefly surprised at the find...
Luccinus, what have you got there?

![]() |

Xavier withdraws further into the previous room, away from the stench. "Is there anything in there we should inspect or can we move on? Perhaps Harper may investigate, having been acclimated to foul smells already."

![]() |

If just being near the room sickens you, and Luccinus is already sickened, maybe he can check out the other two cells also.

![]() |

Luccinus, what's it say? Fung asks, assuming the armored warrior can read it. Occasionally he tries to breathe through his nose, but gags and subconsciously takes a step backward.
EDIT: Too slow...
Fung takes the letter and moves away from the stench... back toward the fresh air of the entrance (and natural light). Then he begins reading the letter aloud.

![]() |

*Listens intently until he sees a mouse running along the ground and starts thinking about the streets of Absolom which makes him think about the Last Dragon Inn that in turn makes him think about a fair halfling barmaid which reminds him of meeting adventurers which brings him back mentally to the present and allows him to hear the last few lines of the reading...*

GM Nel |

The letter is written in Tien, and it is what appears to be a letter of introduction. The letter introduces the ambassador (who presumably is the body in that cell) as Xeng Li, and describes the gift to Taliq Asad—a jade katana, a representation of the Li family’s honor and its ties to House Asad.
Luccinus, having stepped outside the room now, is feeling better and lo longer sickened.

![]() |

Does this sound fishy to any of you? If he was here to present the jade katana to this Taliq Asad, why is he in a prison cell? It certainly sounds as if there were some foul play here...
Fung seems troubled and turns to Luccinus, May I hold on to this? I think Lady Li would like to know about this.
