I think I'll get Super Slam. I'm a sucker for slam dunking raiders to the ground.
Right now I'm looking at Rock & Roll, boosting Vigor and boosting Energy Weapons or Guns. Gotta use that gatling (laser or otherwise) well.

In case you're wondering, Kingdom is Disney, which IRL has an underground city below it. The Island of Nations is Downtown Disney, a big mall outside of the theme parks. And yes, this is very inspired by Vault City in Fallout 2, but with some...modifications.

Oh man! Kingdom is the post-apoc underground city? Marcus gotta go there!
And thanks for helping the outsider, there is never enough help ^^

The drive skill is for stressful situations, special maneuvers when doing chase scenes, and stuff like that. Every day driving doesn't require a roll.
Yeah, you can make mods with repairs, but you don't have a shop to put it up and get under, or proper tools, or parts...
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards

We'll get to that when we need. For now we are cheap as hell.
Thanks for the info!!
| Redbeard the Scruffy |
Sorry I haven't been updating. Weekend has been hell.
Raise your hand if you ever had MRSA.
Believe it or not, that's not the worst thing that's happened this week, but it sure has pissed me off.
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards
|
Just out of curiosity, what does MSRA means? I hope asking this isn't offensive.
| Spencer Collin |
A brief search was all I needed to decide 2 things: not to go down that rabbit hole further tonight, and to wish you well in feeling better and hope you get well soon, Scruffy!
| Redbeard the Scruffy |
MRSA is Antibiotics resistant staph infection, basically. The M stands for the low end spectrum antibiotics, the R, resistant, and the SA the name of the bacterium. Regular staph mutated into what it is because of the overuse of antibiotics in our meat, overuse of antibacterial hand soap, and general overprescription of antibiotics for stuff that doesn't need it or it doesn't help with, like viruses.
It's a skin infection that starts relatively minor but can kill you if it isn't treated, apparently. It is annoying as hell, and the worst part is that once you get it, it can colonize your body and come back any time you have an open wound again. This would be my...fifth or sixth time; I've lost count.
I can only assume I originally caught it when I was riding the bus. When I first caught it they said I hadn't been working at the hospital long enough for it to have been there (based on how much it had progressed by then), and it was on my hand, and I washed my hands like a madman when I was working at a hospital, because wouldn't you? Considering it can only be caught by touch, it means someone rode the bus with an open sore and got that on the seats, handles, who knows what.
Lesson: wash your hands with soap and water when riding public transportation because APPARENTLY hand sanitizer is a little b**** that doesn't scare MRSA at all.

Boy, and I thought I had a lousy weekend. Had some sort of flu since Friday. Finally catching up now that I'm no longer moaning -- as much. You've been some busy little beavers.
| Mickey Rios |
My posting is going to be sporadic at best today, since I'm going to be at company-wide meeting today. And yes that is just aa mind numbing as it sounds.
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards

Scruffy, you said that installing a mounted weapon costs twice the price of said weapon.
What if we provide the weapon? Let's say we want our FN Fal mounted in the van, would it be cheaper?
And could Papa, Fitz or both install it given time and tools appropiate (in the 'Hood base for example)
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards
|
No problem, man. Get well and take some rest!
| Redbeard the Scruffy |
I'll be updating my games tonight. I just got over the massive nausea and vertigo from high end antibiotics about an hour ago, so judging by how long that took and the fact in taking some now, I'll have a window of about an hour or two to hook everyone up tonight before the third round of the day kicks in; I would now but I only have about 3 minutes left in my break after reading to catch up from all my games.
| Rufus Atherton, Cowpoke |
Dude, take whatever time you need. Your health is more important than my fun.
| Redbeard the Scruffy |
I appreciate it. It's the meds not the disease. The side effects come in waves so I feel totally Better for an hour window it seems until about half an hour after taking more meds.
Plus it's my fun too. My live group seems to have not survived the Christmas holidays (like 9/10 of groups I've been in).
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards
|
I can feel ya, man. If it weren't for the fact that my IRL group is formed by my best friend as DM and my second best friend and ex girlfriend as players I don't think we could survive finals or holidays.
But Ruffus got the point straight, your health is more important than the game and the faster and better you recover the sooner we can get on board again!
| Redbeard the Scruffy |
Well, MRSA hurts like a motherf***er If it gets big enough (I caught it early enough to prevent that). First time I got it my left middle finger below the knuckle was the size of a golf ball almost. Well, it felt like my skin and muscle was slowly exploding from the inside trying to get out.
Also. It can kill you if untreated, so there's that. I have a family member who had to have surgery to cut it out of his leg because it almost reached the bone. Oddly enough neither of us caught it from one another. Totally separate occurances.
| Redbeard the Scruffy |
So I'm trying to give you more open ended options to work with. You now have Kingdom, Tampa, Gainesville, all as places to look into with questions options...kinda like the games, keeping multiple running at once as they come along.
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards
|
I vote Vault then tech combing Tampa, Gainesville or the air force base.
Nothing like turbo plasma rifles in an old basement to make you smile.
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards

Who is my CO, Jamie, Mac or another different bro? You better know who you are working for, that's sure.
| Redbeard the Scruffy |
Another one. The BOS has three branches - Scribes, who research and design, Knights, who build and occasionally do scouting, and Paladins, who are straight murderators. Jameson is a scribe, Macmillan is a paladin. I haven't named your CO yet. Um...Let's go with Senior Knight Pedro.
| Rufus Atherton, Cowpoke |
I'll go for the Vault exploration quest, too. After I finish with Miss November, of course.
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards
|
Pedro. I like it, I hope he is friendly hahahahaha.
And is it possible to swap branches? For example, let's say I manage not to die until we reach Heroic. That's quite a lot of killing potential. Could I get promoted to Paladin?
Because I love being a balanced knight, but there's something about the title Paladin that inspires respect.
| Redbeard the Scruffy |
Not officially, but you can be trained in multiple branches. The president is set by Veronica in Fallout New Vegas, who technically was a scribe, but because one of her parents was a paladin, she knew how to kick butt! You could of course rise to the rank of an elder since there has been both paladin and scribe elders, there's no reason a knight couldn't become one
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards
|
Yay! That sounds great, but it will be a long, corpse filled road until then.
I think part of my confusion comes from Fallout 4 in which knights and paladins are grouped in the army branch and there's a new branch of pilots and air forces.
| Sundakan |
The East Coast branch that was based out of the Citadel is weird. They've been disconnected from the main force of the Brotherhood and their mission for a while now, and structure has changed accordingly. They're even more militant for one thing. Whereas the main Brotherhood has priorities something like:
1.) Find and secure Pre-War tech (for the purpose of making sure nobody else gets their hands on it).
2.) Wipe out abominations.
-A billion other things-
N.) Secure the safety of civilians.
The East Coast Brotherhood is more like:
1.) Wipe out anyone who opposes us.
2.) Wipe out Abominations.
3.) Secure the safety of civilians.
4.) Find and secure Pre-War Tech (for the purpose of using it for the first three).
| Redbeard the Scruffy |
Yeah, and there's a different set of branches and rules for the groups in fallout 3 where knights are just a lower rank of paladins and not a separate branch at all so it all gets a little weird depending on where you are. I really like the new Vegas organization so I just went with that
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards
|
Yeah, and East Coast 'Hood changed between F3 and F4 too, with the Johnsons they were more protective of civilians but Maxson wants to smite and cleave and purge a great deal more than other groups of the 'Hood.
Part of the reason I didn't side with them in F4 the first time... too extreme for me.
That said Arthur Maxson is probably the most manly and badass man in the Commonwealth. Wielding a Gatling Laser counts too.
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards
|
Well, it was probably a Waste Capital 'Claw. Those were "weak". At least compared to Vegas and Commonwealth ones.
I still remember painfully the first time I ran into a 'Claw in New Vegas. Man, do they pack a punch.
| Mickey Rios |
Sorry for being mostly MIA so far this week. General flu-related crappiness has kept me occupied. Normally, I can knock out my work with enough time for posting. But my crappy health meant that I actually needed to buckle down and focus on my job so as not to be fired. I'm taking tomorrow off to see some doctors. What with waiting room wackiness ahead of me, I expect I'll be able to post without any problem.
| Redbeard the Overseer |
Mickey, it's okay man. I had to deal with the same, more or less.
I do wonder where everyone else has been yesterday and today, though. Only Marcus seems to have posted - and I KNOW I saw Fitz/Sundakan in another game.
It seems most of you wanted to go to the Vault. All you know is it's in Gainesville somewhere, and I need to know the route you want to take to get there. You can assume your PipBoy has a basic map and that major highways are structurally intact enough to drive about 30mph to get there with your van and it's shocks, conditions, so expect double the usual driving time. Are you looking for towns on the way? Are you driving in shifts the whole way there or stopping to rest and camp?
I ask because I have different...things...in different regions of Florida.
Marcus "Big Papa" Edwards

I'm having mixed feelings about that "... things ...", it both sound interesting and spooky.
And because I'm an outsider and Marcus is the driver, I'll let wiser men to decide.
But I guess I should give my two cents, so I say we stop by if we find any gas station or small town. We don't want to get dragged on, but a little bit of exploration won't harm (I hope)
P.s.- I call dibs on the first chainsaw and bumper sword we find. Gotta start building Excaripbur.
| Spencer Collin |
Excaripbur. Wonderful.
As for exploration, I'm down for stopping places that look interesting along the way. After all, with a whole van now, we can pick up a whole lot of scavenged stuff to sell or use. Make good use of our new friends in the Brotherhood, and maybe start saving up to get into Kingdom to boot.
Hospitals/Doctors' Offices: Probably a little risky, but there might still be some stuff to find here and there. And I'm not sure where else we'd go with a real intent to find medical supplies.
Gas Stations: There's always something to be found. And maybe we can get some gas while we're at it. (Probably not)
WalMarts/The Like: Big stores that sell everything, for fairly obvious reasons. They might be picked clean, they might be full of Raiders, but they also might still have some nice toys in stock.
Tractor Trailers: More to be found on roads than off, I'd guess. Again, probably risky, but especially any that haven't been opened yet would probably have something we could use.
Outdoors Supply Stores: Guns, camping gear, and such stuff as becomes really nice to have in the post-nuclear wasteland.
| Spencer Collin |
Well yeah, but "gas stations" might also have started carrying fusion batteries and such for that reason. And I think the van we got dropped off in at the beginning of the game was gas-powered, so who's to say we won't find more stuff like that? I know motorcycles still had gas tanks, and I for one would love to see that happen.
