Before the War, Rufus was a simple soul, living with the Bar-Nunn Traveling Rodeo and Wild West Show (Since 2011!), doing trick shots and conning his way into free drinks and the beds of lovely women whose husbands were off bravely fighting this 'ere war. (Born with a congenital condition that was never quite explained and helped along by a friend of the family who was a Doctor, he weaseled his way out of military service. Fact is, weaseling is what Rufus was best at.)
Then came the War.
And suddenly Rufus was a whole lot less pretty than he had been. And his flesh kept falling off. And his nose. And, well, other things it ain't best to speak of, nossir. In the irradiated Wasteland, the only think Rufus was useful for was his gun. And as his drinking got worse and his attitude fell right there with it, his shooting wasn't so useful either. So now he's waiting around, watching his caps dry up, and wagerin' whether the booze or the money will run out first...
