As for sources you could go to the archivist and ask if he knows anything, you could request from your superiors info about the document, etc
OK thanks for the information. I was under the impression that mundane sources of information would have been covered during the gather information (Diplomacy) check. Unfortunately I’m not familiar enough with all the NPCs in town to determine which I should specifically engage on the topic. It is obvious that you have taken a fair amount of time developing the NPCs and I don’t necessarily want to detract from that but, I simply don’t know enough about them to know who to approach about what. I see a list of NPC’s on the header, but it only gives names and how tall they are. Nothing in the way of what they do or who they are. I also see the provided map of Falcons Hollow, but it only gives a simple breakdown of the area. High market, low market, mill etc. At this point I will need to know NPCs/Occupations/Locations so that I can spend the time necessary to investigate / question each one independently. This will undoubtedly take a fair amount of time.
the room is not tied to the book at all.
Is this something that Thorion knows or is convinced of? Or simply OOC info for myself? Unless the character is aware of this in some way, it’s irrelevant. He would pursue the subject until convinced it’s not connected in any way. Simply, it’s an unturned stone.
you could request from your superiors info about the document, etc
I’m down to give this a try. Is there a method for me to communicate with the church from here? Or am I going to have to travel for this?

DM Azure_Zero |

The NPC list will take a while, so I'll answer the other two,
You don't know that in character, just as a player.
There are a number of ways; letter, spells (the div/universal kind), *carrier pigeon, and other methods
* video/audio NSFW

Thorion Trepador |

I did a little looking around for simi-close locations that would possibly have a major church of Pharasma and well (Deep Sigh)........Ustalav or Varisia? God's be with me if the only church connection I can message to is USTALAV! Brave, brave carrier pigeon who needs to be able to out fly vampire bats, zombie dodos, and winged chupacabras! I realy don't think a spell will carry that fare without a modestly high level caster available. Ill take a look at the NPC list when its complete, you never know. There could be a paizo version of Elminster Aumar or Mordenkainen holding up in one of these logging huts while on holiday. (LoL)

DM Azure_Zero |

You could use a minor church as a relay to a major church you know...
Quick NPC list
Boss Payden “Pay Day” Teedum (male human), overboss of the Lumber Consortium
Gavel Thuldrin Kreed (male human), leader of the Lumber Consortium
Lady Cirthana (female human Cleric), priestess of Iomedae
Laurel (female human), Roots and Remedies owner
Sheriff Deldrin Baleson (male half-elf), Falcon’s Hollow magistrate
Brickasnurd Hildrinsocks (male gnome), Goose’n’Gander owner
Jak Crimmy (male human), Jak’a’Napes owner
Jarlben Trookshavits (male human), Lumber Consortium main camp boss
Milon Rhoddam (male human), Lumber Consortium hunter
Lord Locksly: Paladin of Iomedae
Duke and Mina Hitum: Owners of the Busty Minotaur,
Hu Wang and Noya Ayla: owners of the Bathhouse,
Luk: Local Archivist
Eve: Barmaid at the Busty Minotaur

Thorion Trepador |

OK Olfden looks to be located halfway between us and Oregent. That's not to bad. I will work out a message for carrier pigeon and see if that will go somewhere.

Thorion Trepador |

LoL FEARTURKEY! Here I come......
Last question before developing the fearturkey message. Does Thorion know the name of the church contact in Olfden?

Thorion Trepador |

I am concerned if Darion and Corindus are still following the game. Last post from Corindus was on August 25th which was ten days ago and Darion's last post was on August 19th which was 19 days ago.

Corindus Droven |

it's also that time of year, where things can get a little chaotic.
You are correct. Besides my usual year-long job, I've started back up at my teaching job at the university.
However, I actually have been following the game.
I was waiting for the right moment to have Corindus step in to offer to help Thorion with his mission, just like Thorion offered his help against Slade.

Darion The Diviner |

I too have been following the game daily in fact. but haven’t felt as if I needed to post anything. I’m more than happy to participate but I think I need invites at times so to speak. I don’t want to derail the campaign with any tangents that I might have. I’m also sort of waiting for an opportunity to post. Waiting for the story to emerge. Waiting for the mission or goal to present itself

More or less this is where i'm at as well. I have been running with my original background goal, which was supposed to be the default reason why Thorion is present in this area, but more or less I have been waiting for any hook that might present itself.

Thorion Trepador |

LoL, Maybe i'm a little bit of a stickler when it comes to a character's backstory, but I like to believe that taking the time to wright out a story, which includes a motivation for participation, means something to the character. I also prefer to react to conditions within the game as I believe the character would. This generally means not working with personal information, but more on the grounds of what the character would know. Some times it is difficult to separate the two, but I try.
In Thorion's case it is even more difficult in the fact that he is an emotionally detached truly neutral character. Because of the emotional pain he felt as a young child he has compartmentalized his empathy and simply works off of logic. Granted, on occasions his true self can slip out from time to time.
I apologize for the distraction. I suppose I could sit quietly and just wait for the story to progress.

DM Azure_Zero |

Notice:
As I am planning this new story, I ask this question to you, my players, as this could be a random possibility it happens to your character.
Would you be OK with something that could potentially change the character?
I might be taking some ideas from the Horror Adventures Book along with a number of horror/scary movies.
And I am putting randomisation branches at various points in the story so you can't really tell or guess certain answers to certain problems.

Thorion Trepador |

I'm OK with GM creativity as I feel it adds to the creativeness of the story. That being said, when you refer to changing the character, I need to know more about what kind of change we are referring to before giving an honest opinion about the concept. "Change your character," can mean a lot of different things.
If we are simply reflecting on events or circumstances that have a heavy impact on the character's perspective, then I'm OK with this as these types of things can't be controlled. They are simply what happens and generally become part of the character's life story. If we are talking about remaking or changing the character's background / personality, then I am less OK with this concept. I would be willing to design a new character instead of remaking Thorion. If we are talking about forced circumstances, like "you wake up and find that you are now a female or your alignment has shifted drastically" then I would strongly caution heavily on this this as it would strongly effect how I play this character.
As of now, Thorion is plainly "NEUTRAL". He has a staunch dispassionate lack of connection to most realities that would require empathy. His ability to compartmentalize is how he deals with reality, especially anything pertains to his families destruction or the undead.
Simply, More information needed.......

DM Azure_Zero |

"Change your character" as in a Change to your character,
I can't tip my hand, so no detailed info.
If you want to get an idea, you'll need to start reading Horror Adventures and or watch a lot of scary movies to get a chance to see where my mind is at for ideas.
Now if is an alignment shift, I can see it doing a personality shift, unless it is a enchantment spell that messes with a character's mind.
But I prefer avoiding enchantments, so if it is a alignment shift stick, it'll generally be with a cursed object or the player's will/choices.

Thorion Trepador |

emmm...... well, I suppose that leaves us trusting your discretion on this. In the past I have never been a huge horror film fan as I generally find them fare from scary. In fact most of them borderline ridiculous (LoL). That being said, I'm not apposed to walking along the dark-side as we are closing in on all hollows eve. It will be interesting to see what you have in mind.
Why do I feel a vampire or lycanthrope encounter coming.

Darion The Diviner |

I’m okay with just about anything but I do want to develop my character. Mainly I want to have creative opportunities to use my spells in unique ways and I want to advance in level so that I can do this same thing with higher level spells. As far as pretty much everything else goes I’m fine with it because I think it adds to the story and develops the role play side of the character

DM Azure_Zero |

Yeah this story has a number of branches (some driven by good old dice), it's taking me a while to figure out the outlines for each branching path.
I know most won't get used, but its better to be prepared so things go as smooth as possible.
I did work to include a book.....just not necessarily that book.....
Oh and before I forget, I'll tell you this; a few objectives have time limits.....

Corindus Droven |

As someone who owns a copy of Horror Adventures, I have an idea of the type of "changes" that you are speaking of.
The prospect leaves me both frightened and curious.
Also, if we're going to start taking cues from Hellsing Ultimate Abridged, does this mean my sheriff will start getting called "Police Guy" instead of by his name?

DM Azure_Zero |

Who knows .... Maybe.....
Just be glad Hellsing Ultimate Abridged will be giving me ideas more for comedic parts that'll be a bit present,
and that Alucard is not looking for ways to entertain himself...
after the destruction of his 70 inch plasma screen TV.....
might toss in the police girl or Walter though....
and maybe a few references to the series...

Thorion Trepador |

DM Azure_Zera: I know that I posted something about not being able to continue in our other game, but I wanted to post something here as well. Work has become overwhelming with an unprecedented amount of mandatory overtime. Because of this, I am going to be bowing out of the game. It has been a lot of fun and I have enjoyed the role playing opportunity. That being said I wish you and everyone in the game the best.

Hoping folks post in gameplay....
as I left doors open even for Corindus and Darrion
Sorry. Today was a busy day, and I'm doing my best to catch up before I go to bed.

Corindus Droven |

The party at the time was there in the old courthouse ruins in the real world, recall picking up the pickled Rat tail, as well as escorting Vona and Eve.
Oops. I got confused and thought the first appearance of the courthouse ruins was from the original set of visions.

DM Azure_Zero |

It's both, First adventure after defeat of the hags you dreamed of ruins awoke in the same ruin then went to another ruin with a slumbering shadow, went back Home to the Hollow,
then now 7 years later dreamed/nightmared of the first ruin and or the second ruin.
Yeah, it can be a bit confusing at times, since I did set up the seeds in the first adventure some to revisit them somewhat now.
