Initiative List:
Svetla: 24 [moves to D17]
Navorn: 23 [maintains defensive stance]
Divel: 22 [climbs ruined wall]
Eldon: 21 [plinks orc]
Ingrahild: 19 [guards Borondon]
Merzhan: 19 [casts spell-moves to J16]
Borondon: 19 [delays action in readiness]
Sondergang: 17 [heads for bridge]
Orcs: 13

Svetla runs past the others, nimbly avoiding the rubble strewn about the broken gate. She sees the three waiting orcs illuminated in the magic fires Merzhan has conjured.

Divel clambers up the ruined wall of the dwarven fortification. The stone is choked with large vines and the surface is pocked and pitted by neglect. He easily surmounts the 15' and lands prone, readying his bow.

Ingra chants in Dwarvish, calling forth protection for Borondon.

The three orcs rush out to face their foes. Two cast their javelins at Svetla, one at Borondon.

Svetla: 1d20+1=3, Svetla: 1d20+1=15, Borondon: 1d20+1=17

The two javelins hiss by Svetla as she turns to face the approaching orcs. Ingra's sheild deflects the javelin aimed at Borondon, it clangs off and sticks into the stony ground several feet from them.

Meanwhile the archer orc decides that perhaps he can get a long shot in on Merzhan

Archery attack: 1d20-2=0

The orc's arrow falls well short of the swarthy spellcaster, rattling off the side of the stream chasm and plunking into the swift cold waters below.

Round three! I am feeling yucky, but I will check in as I can.

Male Halfling Rogue/1

It seems you missed me? I plinked the orc?

Bribes always welcome

Isn't that your 3rd attack? I was holding that over for rd 3. Your second attack killed that orc on the ledge.

Male Halfling Rogue/1

Ahh.. I believe that you are right. Sorry

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

Now that he can see an enemy within his reach, Borondon screams and runs at the closest orc as fast as his stubby legs will carry (charging the orc at f16 and placing Borondon at g15).

Charge (1d20+8=23)

Dwarven waraxe damage (1d10+4=7)

Female Dwarf Cleric 3 (Favoured Class)

Ingrahild follows Borondon and protects him as best she can. Moves adjacent to him (behind him)and keeps her shieldmaiden ability active (5 ft step to H 14; move action to keep sheildmaiden ability active). "Fly my brother lets rain all of the steel and iron in our veins against these intruders in our home!" She then readies an action to sheild bash any orc if it comes into her threaten range to hit 11; dmg 7

Readied att & dmg .

Sondergang move forward to H15 drawing his warhammer as he moves and now a troika of dwarves face the orcs.

A feral grin crosses his face as the rest of the party members move into action.

"Hit them hard and hit them where it hurts comrades"

The Exchange

Male Human Sorceror 3

Merzhan steps into I18 and begins walking forward ululating wildly as he raises his hand and unleashes a white hot ray of flame that engulfs the Orc on Svetla's left

1d20+2=17, 1d6+1=6

He ends in the midst of the dancing flames.

Female Human Fighter (F) 3

Realizing she is facing two foes, Svetla decides to attack the orc in front of her. Leaving the chance for one of her fellows to deal with the other.

Svetla attacks the orc in D18 with her longsword.

Roll me up some atk and dam and we'll get this puppy underway.

Edit: Did you want me to roll for you? If so we'll take these rolls:

ATK: 1d20+3=5, DAM: 1d8+3=7

I'm gonna give Navorn till tomorrow to chime in, then I will just assume he holds a defensive stance and move the round forward.

Well I missed, sorry guys I thought i posted this morn.

Initiative list Rd 3:
Svetla: 24 [Attacking orcs]
Navorn: 23 [move/attack]
Divel: 22 [Shooting bow]
Eldon: 21 [shooting xbow]
Ingrahild: 19 [guards Borondon/shield bash]
Merzhan: 19 [casts spell-moves to I18]
Borondon: 19 [Charges G15-attacks orc]
Sondergang: 17 [moves to H15]
Orcs: 13

Svetla bares her teeth in a feral grin as the two orcs warily approach her. She attacks with a looping cut with her longsword, but the orc dodges the first cut.

Navorn charges off the bridge, swinging at the orc near Borondon. His first swing is wild, slicing nothing but the twilight air.

Divel aims a shot at one of the orcs threatening his comrade Svetla.

Since FW is on hols I am going to roll him this attack

ATK: 1d29+5=22, Dam: 1d8+2=8

His arrow strikes true, causing the orc to stagger. The orc tries to straighten, but collapses in front of Svetla.

Eldon shoots his bolt at the orc by Borondon. The bolt strikes his chest , causing him to stagger and gasp. Blood flies from his mouth in an arc of green.

Merzhan ululates wildly, running forward and casting a bolt of firey magic at the remaining orc on Svetla. The red lance strikes true, wrapping the orc in a caul of flame. The orc screeches loudly and runs off, flames trailing from his burning form. He gets several dozen yards before he falls to the ground. The disturbingly aromatic bacon smell of burning orc fills the evening air.

Borondon and Ingrahild move forward in a rush. Borondon’s face twists with anger and his war axe sings its hissing death song in the twilight air. The bolt-wounded orc’s head separates from his shoulders and rolls along the ground towards Sondergang, as he runs up to meet the others.

The orc on the far ledge screams loudly and looses an arrow at Svetla.

ATK: 1d20=13

The arrow flies off its mark, disappearing into the gathering shadows.

After shooting, the remaining orc slings his bow and begins to nimbly climb the cliff face behind him.

Good job all. If you want to persue the retreating orc, just let me know.

Bleh...

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

"One!" Borondon looks up at Divel and smiles. "Filthy orc scum." He kicks the head, sending it rolling.

Male Halfling Rogue/1

"Ah.. you're catching on, Boringdun." Eldon says with a smile.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 (favoured class)

Sondergang helps the head on its way lofting it with a firm kick into the gorge.

He casts an eye at the escaping archer

"Think you can get him Divel" he calls up to the elf "If not go see what the other one had on him."

"Eldon, Navorn, Merzhan..keep a weather eye out for any more of the bastards"

"Ingra, Borondun, Svetla...lets see what those scum have on them then we'll chuck them in the river so they don't pollute the place with their presence. After that we'll move up to the doors..we need to find somewhere secure to base ourselves out off."

A quick looting and then dragging the corpses away with grappling hooks is what he has in mind

Male Halfling Rogue/1

At Sondergang's words, Eldon stiffens, and lifts his hand to his head in respect. "Yes sir." He stands at alert, looking around for anymore danger.

1d20+4=14

Bribes always welcome

Divel hears Sondergang's shouted question. He stands up gracefully on the crumbling battlement and draws his bow, taking careful aim at the retreating orc.

1d20+1=20, 1d8+2=6

Divel's arrow speeds across the distance and buries itself in the orc's back. The orc cries out and tumbles off the cliff face, coming to rest on the ledge he had originally attacked from in a tumbled heap.

Divel shouts down to the group

"Four"

Male Halfling Rogue/1

"S#!&! Four? Already? Damn it, I need to step up my game!"

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

Borondon begins to loot the corpses.

Perception (1d20=6)

Female Dwarf Cleric 3 (Favoured Class)

Ingra stands guard for Borondon as he inspects the corpse, she keeps a keen eye on the loot as she must ensure the fair share for the community back home.

Male Human 3rd

Navorn keeps an eye out as his companions loot the corpse

Male Human Sorceror 3

Merzhan keeps an eye out for trouble.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 (favoured class)

Sondergang nods in satisfaction as Divel disposes of the last orc

"Good shot...see what you can get from the one up there then join us at the gates"

..I'm sorry if Sondergang comes over a overly bossy..but my take on Clerics of Torag is this. They are strategists and planners always trying to think one step ahead, perfectly prepared to leave tactics once on the field of battle to the warriors types but used to having their advice and orders carried out promptly. The non dwarves in the party might find this grates a little but it's just the way that he would act with his own people and in a way it's a compliment to the rest of you

Female Human Fighter (F) 3

Svetla puts away her blade, then nods towards Sondergang upon hearing his decisiveness. She begins with the orc she had been fighting. Rifling through any pockets or pouches she can find, Svetla begins placing what she finds, if anything, into a small pile beside the body.

Assuming there's time, Svetla will Take 20 on her Perception Roll.

Bribes always welcome

Divel runs nimbly along the old wall and hops up to the ledge where the orc Eldon slew is resting in a heap

Divel:

Spoiler:
Divel finds 10 GP and a silver medallion of an eye set with a garnet.

Borondon starts rifling the pouches of the headless orc. Ingra notes what he finds.

Borondon & Ingra:

Spoiler:
This orc had 16 GP, 25 SP and a metal flask with a strong-smelling liquid inside it.

Svetla has two orcs dead at her feet. She starts with the orc she tried to slice.

Svetla:

Spoiler:
The first orc has 21 GP, 40 SP, 21 CP and a small cabochon blue gem in his pouch

The sunlight is fast fading to night. A faint glow can be seen over the ridge of the high cliffs surrounding the area. Full darkness will be upon the adventurers in about a half hour or so. There seem to be no sounds about, though Merzhan and Ingra keep a sharp eye out for danger.

One orc unlooted by Svetla and one on the far ledge. you can advance into the narrow passage if you wish.

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

Borondon puts the loot in the pile Svetla is making and smiles at Ingra.

Male Halfling Rogue/1

Eldon looks eagerly at the bag. "So we splittin' this?

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 (favoured class)

We'll spilt treasure when we return to town and have paid the Baron his ahh..'rightful dues'. Unless off course you want your share so you can leave us?"

"Let's get inside the doors before the sun sets...someone check that orc Merzhan burnt...we'll have to leave them to rot here..ah well the grounds probably polluted with their presence anyway."

Male Halfling Rogue/1

"Ahh, keep it for now, let's keep trekkin along"

The Exchange

Male Human Sorceror 3

Merzhan systematically torches each of the searched corpses with a series of fire rays. He looks to Sondergang's questioning expression and replies,
"Less of them to be raised and used against us from behind. These vermin worship the Dark Lord Orcus."

Bribes always welcome

Okay just need to know who checks the BBQed orc. I am going to have Divel look at the one on the far side.

Divel descends gracefully down the shattered edge of the old dwarven wall, sprints along the ground and climbs nimbly up the other side. He runs to the end and then climbs over to the ledge where the crumpled corpse of the orc he shot lies in a pool of green blood.

Divel:

Spoiler:
Divel finds 20 GP, 30 SP, 10 CP in coin. He finds a golden ring attached to the orc's ear and something else quite interesting. A long elvish-looking arrow is in the orc's quiver. It looks quite old, yet in pristine condition. The arrowhead is the finest steel, graven with Draconic runes.

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

Borondon checks the last orc.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 (favoured class)

Sondergang nods briefly to Merzhan.."Thats a handy trick you have there..I can do much the same with acid as Torags gift to me so at least we are well equipped to fight trolls eh lad"

He slaps the young mage soundly on the back then begins to move towards the gates of the complex.

Bribes always welcome

Borondon searches the smoking orc corpse. Luckinly the flames didn't stay lit too long, and the orc's pouches are intact.

Borondon:

Spoiler:
Borondon finds 15 GP, 30 SP and 4 CP. There is also a large chunk of quartz with raw gold interspersed with it.

forward folks?

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

Borondon gives Ingra the rest of the loot.

"Shall we?" he says, then follows Sondergang towards the gates.

The Exchange

Male Human Sorceror 3

Merzhan follows the warriors.

Female Dwarf Cleric 3 (Favoured Class)

Ingra takes a deep breath and walks towards the other dwarves ready to enter her lost homeland

Male Halfling Rogue/1

"Onward troops!"

Eldon will scurry ahead of the group, crossbow loaded, ready for anything. First thing that moves is going to get nailed.

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

"Har!" Borondon laughs, then says to Ingra in Dwarven:

Spoiler:
"Look at that. We have us some orc bait."

Male Elf Rogue3 (favoured class)

Divel returns to Ingrahild. He hands over 20 gold, 30 silver and 10 coppers.

Then he shows an elven arrow too. There is draconic writing on the body.

Appraise check 15+7=22, +2 if magical.

The elf looks around for any other bodies after as he returns to his tail end charlie position.

Bribes always welcome

The evening is darkening as the group heads into the narrow passage. The smoke from the burning orc corpses darkens the blood-red sky behind them, flavoring the night air with a faint roast pork smell.

The narrow passage opens up at its end about 300 yards from the ruined battlement they fought by. There is a ruined keep in the small pocket canyon, its top crumbled and large basalt blocks stewn around its base like a giant child's building blocks. The canyon seems to be a dead end, there is no passage but the way the party came.

The group sees a dwarven statue still upright, but with its head gone and its arms lopped off. The statue's left stump is upraised, pointing to the high canyon walls that surround the area. The statue's limbs and head lie broken on the ground near it. It is covered in graffitti like the other statues had been. The graffitti is much the same in message, death to this group, death to that group.

Everyone roll me a Perception Check. Also, if anyone has any Engineering/Dungeoneering skills, roll them also. If anyone has outdoor-oriented skills roll them as well.

You had also looted another body earlier in the thread Divel ... Welcome back BTW! :)

Divel ponders the arrow. He knows that back a generation or so ago the dwarves of Tharkad-Kûl worked closely with the finest Elven smiths to create many magical items. Divel's own father carries Summerain, a magical throwing dagger that returns to hand after striking its target that he received as a youth in Merranior. This arrow was of Elven design, but clearly the fine-grade steel was Tharkadian. Depending on the dweomer inscribed upon it, it could bring 300 Eagles to the right buyer, or more.

Give them their release.
