Male Halfling Rogue/1

Eldon moves to H13, hoping to get close enough to see something, gain some partial cover, and allow a stronger member of the group to continue. His crossbow is ready to fire at the slightest move as he moves forward.

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

Borondon will try to stay with Eldon, aiming for H14.

You better. I refuse to die so early

The Exchange

Male Human Sorceror 3

Merzhan moves to O17 in order to cover any necessary retreat.

Bribes always welcome

As Eldon departs the narrow basalt bridge, the suspicious ledge bump unveils itself. It is an orc who had been hiding under some sort of cloth covering colored to match the surrounding rocks.

The orc readies a bow and shoots an arrow at Borondon, screeching as he does in a loud voice that echoes off the walls of the narrow pass.

Orc's ATK:1d20=17

Since you had perceived he might be there, you are not flat footed

Borodon swings his shield in front of him in time to catch the arrow. It sinks in deep, humming like an angry wasp.

>>UPDATED MAP<<

Male Halfling Rogue/1

"I knew it!" yells Eldon (and moves to J10), as he fires his crossbow.

15=(10+5)
1d6=3

Bribes always welcome

Eldon's crossbow bolt flies true, striking the orc in his midsection. The sneaky orc's howls rise an octave when the shaft sinks into his flesh.

I need a group initiative roll please. Everyone's initiative is listed under the DM's profile.

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 (favoured class)

Group initiative 1d20=17

Sondergang fires his crossbow only to see the shot skitter into the rocks well below the orc

Hvy.X-bow 1d20+0=2

Bribes always welcome

Initiative List:
Svetla: 24
Navorn: 23
Divel: 22
Eldon: 21 {fired crossbow}
Ingrahild: 19
Merzhan: 19
Borondon: 19
Sondergang: 17
Orc: 13

Female Dwarf Cleric 3 (Favoured Class)

On her action Ingrahild shoots her cross bow at the nearest Orc, the one under the cloth or a new one if they start pouring out!
miss with a 7 I assume

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

After the arrow thunks into Borondon shield he screams up at the orc:

"Thats right you stinkin' orc! Yer messin' with the dwarves now!"

His words are actually a bit more colorful than that, but not fit for the boards

He then moves to 013 to take cover and wait for anything attempting to come through the gate.

The Exchange

Male Human Sorceror 3

Merzhan watches the Gateway, holding for a swarm of Orcs or some other enemies.

Any enemy coming within 30 ft gets a Fire Ray to the face

Male Elf Rogue3 (favoured class)

Divel moves up to the wall, past the others. h19

Then he blindly shoots an arrow up at the orc lookout. useless attack roll..

>>UPDATED MAP<<

This is a 'mid round' update. Many folks haven't declared their actions yet, and can still move before the orc's turn.

Bribes always welcome

The shafts from Eldon's companions aren't quite as effective as his was. The orc on the ledge tries to track the three over the bridge, readying another shot.

Divel wisely puts his back against the ruined Dwarven fortification. He finds he has a partial view to the inside of the other wall.

Divel a Perception (sight based) roll please

Male Elf Rogue3 (favoured class)

Perception (sight) 12+8=20

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

Oops. I meant h13; o13 is in the chasm

Bribes always welcome
Borondon Thurgund wrote:

Ahh yes, I had meant to ask you, but you said cover, so I put your PC just inside the bridge. I will change it.

Divel:

Spoiler:
As Divel sidles up to the ruined wall he catches a glimpse of three orcs hiding at F20, 21, 22 respectively. They have javelins ready and seem to be waiting for something.

>>UPDATED UPDATED MAP<<

Due to your changed position Borondon roll me a sight-based Perception check please

Borondon hits the crumbling stone wall fortification close to the broken gateway. Chunks of masonry lie scattered about.

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

sight-based Perception check (1d20=14)

Male Elf Rogue3 (favoured class)

"Three more," calls the elf to Sondergang, pointing directly over the wall from himself.

He quickly selects a red fletched arrow from his quiver and licks the feathers sharp.

In Uruk"Fall back they have ogres!"

Bribes always welcome
Borondon Thurgund wrote:

Borondon is a little too busy getting to the wall to notice anything right away, but hears Divel say 'three more', then switch to Uruk. Perhaps the elf has seen something he missed.

Bribes always welcome

Divel give me a Bluff roll on your clever ruse please

The Exchange

Male Human Sorceror 3

Merzhan quickly dashes across the bridge and crouches at the end of it waiting for a target.

J16

Female Dwarf Cleric 3 (Favoured Class)

Ingra moves to N 15 the base of the bridge and pulls her sheild out as she puts her crossbow away.

Male Elf Rogue3 (favoured class)

Divel's polite ruse may have failed.

Bluff 3+1=4. Shazbat!

Male Halfling Rogue/1

I might be busy next few days, so let me get a post in, despite it being out of order.

Assuming that the orc is still alive, Eldon fires again.
If not, he will look for anything else hiding under those tarps-things.

Spot:14 (10+4)

Bribes always welcome

Divel shouts out his warning in Uruk and he hears a coarse bellow of laughter. He suddenly realizes he has mixed up the Uruk word for Ogre: Shakikak with the Uruk word for turnip: Shakikik. One of the hidden orcs yells back at Divel:

Uruk:

Spoiler:
::Nice try longears!::

I will update the map and post more this afternoon. Hopefully some more folks will have checked in by then

Male Dwarf Cleric 1 (favoured class)

Well we are still waiting for Navorn and Svetla to post for round one.

On round two Sondergang will sling his crossbow and move to Q15

Male Human 3rd

seeing his companions in trouble Navorn moves across the bridgek-15.

RD 2 He then drawls his weapon and drops into a defensive position to keep any orcs from crossing the bridge and attacking the less armored party members full defense

sorry guys didn't notice it was moving this fast, long weekend

Bribes always welcome

Quick update, going to assume KMD/Svetla would be wanting to get in the fray

Eldon looks around wildly, searching for other tarps. He is not surprised when another rock on the far eastern wall of the pass shakes up to reveal another orc archer. The orc aims his bow and pulls back Will not get attack until rd 2. His pal that shot at Borondon is now trying to track the small halfling that shot him.

Svetla runs onto the bridge, sword in hand, trying to run up to the front and assist. Navorn takes a protective stance on the bridge with Ingra. Merzhan readies his magic to fry the next orc. Sondergang prepares to advance as well.

I believe that is everyone. Someone please roll me a group initiative for rd 2!

>>END OF RD 1<<

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

Group Initiative (1d20=9)

Sovereign Court

Male variable 12th lvl Dm/5th level fanboy/3rd Lvl Pedant

hmm long time since I saw initiative diced for each round..or is this due to the changing circumstances?

Bribes always welcome

Would you prefer we just keep one initiative for the entire battle? It's not a problem if so.

Male Halfling Rogue/1

Seeing as Borndon already rolled, lets keep it. Give the orc a slight advantage against eight-ish.

Bribes always welcome

everyone post up actions for round 2 and I will advance scenario tomorrow. I will leave question of intiative open until tomorrow in case anyone else wants to chime in.

Male Halfling Rogue/1

Eldon snipes out the silly orc who was playing hide-and-go seek.

1d20+5=14
1d6=6

Hopefully, he has dispatched the orc. If so, he moves behind Divel with a smile, "One. And I got 'im all by myself."

Female Dwarf Cleric 3 (Favoured Class)

Ingra moves to I-13 and uses her sheild maiden trait to give Borondon +2 AC. "No Son of Tharkad will fall by the means of Orcs, while I stand!"

Male Dwarf Fighter 3

Borondon maintains his position at H13. I any enemies appear he will step 5 feet forward and attack with his waraxe.

Delay action

The Exchange

Male Human Sorceror 3

Lacking a target within reach Merzhan gathers his focus and chants in the rapid tongue of Ignan. As he moves his hands four torch flames appear bobbing in F18 shedding light all around.

He then moves along the bridge to it's edge J16

Bribes always welcome

I should have just kept the initiative as before, my AD&D roots are showing. I will keep it as before (Apologies Borondon for the wasted roll)

Initiative List:
Svetla: 24
Navorn: 23
Divel: 22
Eldon: 21
Ingrahild: 19
Merzhan: 19
Borondon: 19
Sondergang: 17
Orcs: 13

Svetla runs to assist Borondon and Ingra in setting up a defensive line.

Navorn maintains his defensive stance, ready to assist whoever comes in danger.

Ingrahild moves closer to Borondon, using her training to sheild the stalwart warrior.

Merzhan guestures and spits out words in a hissing roaring tongue. Flames blossom in the gloom, illuminating the three orcs in waiting. They curse loudy at the sudden light.

Sondergang stows his crossbow and heads for the bridge.

Eldon fires his crossbow, hitting the same orc he had gotten before. The orc cries out and falls backwards, a bolt piercing him through his armpit.

I'm going to hold it there to give everyone who hasn't posted a chance to chime in before the orcs turn.

>>UPDATED MAP<<

Male Halfling Rogue/1

"Wow! Didn't see those guys. Glad I'm over here!"

Female Human Fighter (F) 3

Now that everyone has crossed the bridge and Sondergang is defending the rear Svetla feels no need to stand back. She decides to press the attack and moves forward.

Now standing in D17

Male Elf Rogue3 (favoured class)

DM

Spoiler:
Divel will climb the wall after holstering his bow. Climb check 12+5=17.

Male Halfling Rogue/1

Eldon moves to F14, and fires an arrow ( I assume orcs have partial coverage)

Hit: 1d20+5=18
Damage: 1d6=6

Female Dwarf Cleric 3 (Favoured Class)

Ingrahild will recite a prayer for Borondon and give him a Noble blessing
"Stand strong stout Brother for you are the rightful heir to these domains and grand halls, look to the stone work to draw inspitation"

1st--Noble Blessing (Su): You can touch a creature as a standard action, giving it a noble blessing. Male Elf Rogue3 (favoured class)
