Jawhar
|
Jawhar stows his shield (move action), then zaps Jamir with PvE, and 5-foot steps in front of the door (but ready to let Jamir rush by ;) ).
On second thought, it appears Jamir might be standing right in front of the door already. His pawn is in between spaces. So, no move, just to be certain

Jawhar - 9 rounds PvE
Jamir "Hamstring" Montajay
|
Impatient to get the rescue underway (I've got a faction goal to check off!), Jamir rushes through the door as soon as Jawhar taps him with the wand, and runs across the bridge at full speed. He stops near Craggark, taking advantage of the limited cover a table gives him against the goblin archer, and lobs a flask of acid to keep the grinning, grimy bastard on his toes.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Lob acid: 1d20 + 5 - 8 ⇒ (7) + 5 - 8 = 41d6 ⇒ 6
| lucklesshero |
Jawhar hits Jamir with his wand and stows his shield. Jamir lobs his acid but is way off the mark (4 range increments from your current position =-6 + the table obstructing sure -2= -8 you already had) miss direction: 1d8 ⇒ 6 the acid flies well over the head of the goblin but strikes the the upper corner of the hallway splashing the goblin when it impacts. Torvald's turn
Torvald Stonecask
|
Peeking around the corner through the doorway, Torvald decides that the bridge area looks too crowded and starts reloading his crossbow. "Might come in handy if I run out of bombs," the dwarf grunts as he pulls the string back and nocks a bolt.
Move Action to reload, the Ready Action if that goblin shows his face. If he's already visible, just use my attack roll & ignore the Ready part. Also including +1 for atk vs goblin, forgot that last time!
Twang!: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Haha, nope!
| lucklesshero |
Torvald lets loose a bolt a the lone goblin archer and misses low the bolt skipping off the cold slate of the floor. (I've placed Torvald in front of the door otherwise he couldn't shoot) The goblin seems annoyed at taking missile fire but has only one reasonably un-obstructed shot (the tables provide a +2 cover bonus if they are between the shooter and target and target is 10-15ft away they provide +4 bonus if target is next to tables 5ft and +8 bonus if under table..under table is treated as squeezing for medium creatures and difficult terrain for both medium and small creatures).
The Goblin fires at Craggark again ( this time not FF but still with no shield, and deflect arrows on) bow shot: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
The arrow flies true strait at Craggark's chest but at the last moment is martial arts instincts take over and he slaps the arrow out of it's flight nano-seconds before it strikes him. The Goblin archer's mouth hangs open observing the speed of the Orc warrior and he retreats behind a wall unseen. (Craggark, Analia, then Jawhar's turns)

Martial Flexibility is cool, I should make a Brawler next!
Craggark
|
Craggark looks ahead, not wanting to be caught by yet another trap. As he does so, he swats the arrow out of the air.
"Bastard goblin," he mutters to himself.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
What the actual F.
Craggark moves forward, positions himself up against the wall, and draws another alchemist's fire vial from his pouches. He smiles and winks at Lia from his position.
Analia Frostburn
|
Lia moves forward dashing to the side past Jamir, and readies to throw her flame if an enemy presents it self.
readied ranged touch(120' range/no penalties): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
produce flame/CL3: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
| lucklesshero |
(OK the light for non dark-vision characters should extend to the end of the ramp 10ft further than that for low light characters. dim lighting {partial concealment would extend to the end of the second table for low light vision charcters} therefore Jamir can move to the end of the second table without much difficultly from just the light spilling through the other room. If Analia's produce flame acts as a torch Jamir can see 10ft into the next room briefly before she throws it.) Also please note while Analia still holds the produce flame the 1st room is essentially completely lit for all characters. Analia hold's her flame aloft trying to aid those without dark-vision. As She moves forward she can see several motionless emaciated bodies chained to the wall in the second room which looks to be some kind of storage room. However, much she pities the prisoners..her real target at the moment is the goblin archer. archer's stealth: 1d20 + 14 - 10 ⇒ (12) + 14 - 10 = 16 Ana's perception: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Analia's eyes squint and strain trying to locate the goblin but the crafty little creature seems to have disappeared.
Jawhar..your turn
Jawhar
|
Jawhar attempts to carefully make his way across the bridge.
Acrobatics: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (9) - 5 = 4
... but his heavy armor causes the bridge to wobble under him and he falls off the edge, dropping the wand into the pit.
Reflex to grab the edge of the bridge?
Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Down he goes (probably bashing his head in on the way).
If I survive, I'll cast light on my holy symbol.
Jamir "Hamstring" Montajay
|
From behind, Jamir hears a yelp, followed by a disturbingly loud, wet crunch, like a large weight dropped onto a crate of eggs. He turns to Craggark.
"That did not sound good."
I think Jamir may be up, but I'm not certain, so I will hold off posting any kind of action until Jawhar's turn is resolved.
| lucklesshero |
suddenly Jawhar tumbles into the pit a moment later a brief glow of light can be seen coming from the bottom of the pit, it fades almost immediately pit dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9
Jamir "Hamstring" Montajay
|
There being no votes against...
Jamir peeks over the table and shouts to Craggark and Lia, "It's Jawhar! I will fetch him! Try to keep that damned goblin from filling with holes!"
With that, he turns back to face the pit and races towards it. The halfling glances down at the last moment, to get a glimpse of Jawhar so that he might have a chance to avoid landing on his friend, then jumps directly into the pit. Noticing Torvald watching him from the far side of the pit with one cocked eyebrow, Jamir waves at the dwarf as he falls.
Acrobatics, to fall with panache: 1d20 + 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 4 + (4) = 11
GAH!
Jamir is unprepared for just how many insects cover the floor of the pit; he slips as he lands, stumbling into the side of pit as he tries to keep his footing on the shifting surface.
| lucklesshero |
Jamir leaps down the pit in an effort to rescue his comrade. However, he bounces awkwardly off the pit walls on his way down receiving several significant scrapes and bruises for his trouble.
The impact, barely leaves the poor halfling conscious.falling dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 6) = 12
Torvald you're up!
Torvald Stonecask
|
Torvald cries out in alarm as Jawhar tumbles from the makeshift bridge, but his jaw goes slack when the halfling...leaps in after him? The alchemist's left eye twitches, twice. Shaking off his befuddlement, the dwarf retrieves his length of rope and moves to tie it off.
Not sure what will be a valid object to tie the rope too, but that'll probably be two Move Actions there
| lucklesshero |
Torvald grabs his rope and runs over to a nearby bookcase mount to anchor the rope. Craggark and Analia wait for the Goblin sniper to re-appear but the sneaky devil remains hidden.
Torvald you can tie the rope off in one move action and then head back to the pit and drop it over the side next round. Craggark your turn..then Ana's
Craggark
|
Craggark moves forward into the next chamber, prepared to toss his alchemist's fire at the goblin, trusting his ability to deflect arrows to counter the goblin's attack.
Move action to position. Perception check? Readied attack.
Perception (if needed): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Ranged Attack with alchemist's fire: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 161d6 ⇒ 5
| lucklesshero |
Craggark moves in to the room with his alchemist fire ready to toss at the little sneaky Goblin archer. At first he doesn't see him
Suddenly, A very large goblin with several vestigial limbs hanging grotesquely from it's torso charges from the corner, it's mouth agape with filed razor sharp teeth! It's charge heads strait towards Craggark and it lunges to bite bite: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 2 = 19dmg: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 The Big mutant Goblin catches Craggark unawares and nearly rips his throat out but Craggark tears away before the ugly creature's sharp fangs cause him to loose too much blood and pass out. However, Craggark is grievously wounded.
Craggark I have you at 1hp currently..Analia, it's your turn
Analia Frostburn
|
Lia rushes up, and throws her flame at the large and twisted goblin thing assaulting Craggark. No sooner does the flame leave her hand but another appears in its place.
Ranged Touch-Melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 4 = 15
Produce Flame CL3: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
"Look a little white girl burned you! Whatever will you do you big dumb goblin!"
She knows she has little time to do much else but she yells back to her comrades behind her none the less, "This is serious up here! We need you!"
This is looking very grim. Very, very grim.
| lucklesshero |
Analia's flame hits the mutated over-sized Goblin squarely. He howls in pain and turns his beady red eyed glare upon Analia, After Glorfan kill smelly orc man..I feast on little white gnome bones! At the bottom of the pit Jamir moves around slowly grabbing at his own head wound, as he pats his pockets and pouches until, he finally finds what he is looking for..his smelling salts..a moment latter Jamir can hear Torvald's heavy footsteps pad back toward the edge of the pit.A moment latter, Jamir hears more that sees, the end of a rope being dropped down, in to the pit.
The little Goblin archer tries to shoot Craggark one last time; even though his boss is moving in and out of his vision, as he and the Frostkin engage in melee. bow shot: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 Alas the shot is just too difficult to make on the agile Frostkin without the risk of hitting his boss. The arrow flies wide of its mark. The smaller goblin curses in frustration and shoulders it's bow while stepping a little closer to Craggark and his boss battling. Goblin archer puts away his bow after the shot and 5ft steps forward
Jawhar please make a stabilize roll, Jamir I assume your going to follow through with extracting the smelling salts from your pouch, bandoleer or whatever, so if Torvald follows through with his plan...he has tied off the rope and thrown it into the pit. Since throwing the rope into the pit is equivalent of dropping something (a free action) I'm going to grant Torvald an "extra action" this round either standard or move..Ie he can load his crossbow, drink an extract/mutagen ect.. Craggark it's your turn again..Torvald don't forget to tell me what you did with your "left over action"
Torvald Stonecask

Am I able to see the "half-troll"? If so I'll move across the bridge to join the fight, if not I'll drink my mutagen for +2Con -2Cha while checking on Jamir & Jawhar.
Perception if you think I need it: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Torvald quickly ties off a knot and tosses the bundle of rope down the pit, when Analia's cry catches his attention. Glancing up, he sees a hideously ugly creature mauling Craggark, even as the gnome hurls fire onto its back. "I thought they were lying about the half troll!" he cries, twisting his wrist to pop the healing wand into his hand as he places a booted foot on the bookshelf/bridge.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 2 = 12
The 'bridge' creaks and wobbles a few times, but after a few painfully long moments the dwarf is across, striding through the cavern to his comrades' sides. "Craggark, Lia, bomb or healing?" he bellows.
Torvald quickly ties off a knot and tosses the bundle of rope down the pit--somewhere in the back of his mind he hears Lia shouting but he doesn't quite catch it. She and Craggark can handle themselves against a few goblins, he thinks, peering down into the pit. "Jamir, Jawhar, are you able to climb? We've could use a hand!" Grimacing, the dwarf reaches into a breast pocket and withdraws a fat, greasy-looking black pill. "I hate these things," he mutters and pops it into his mouth, chewing even as his face twists in disgust.
Almost immediate, the dwarf's limbs bulge as though swollen by some invisible stinging insect. The hair all over his body thickens and coarsens, taking on a metallic sheen even as his skin rapidly grows stone-like, knobby warts. The end result is hideous, Torvald knows, but it makes him damn hard to kill.
"LETS DO THIS THEN," a monstrous voice rumbles from the alchemist's throat.
| lucklesshero |
Torvald I don't recall you dropping your pack either and since it has so much of your valuable equipment, I'm going to assume that you still have it on at the side of the pit. Since I know you wouldn't attempt to cross the pit with that heavy of a load I'm going to let you use your left over action to unstrap your pack and drop it to the ground this round. You may keep the roll inside the spoiler "helping your fighting friends" acrobatics check at the start of next round. You can clearly see the mutated Goblin because of your Darkvision and Analia's produce flame spell.
Torvald drops his backpack and prepares to cross the shaky bridge spaning the pit.
Jamir "Hamstring" Montajay

"Lia, get to safety," Craggark manages. The frostkin quickly takes a five foot step, and noting the goblin dropping its bow, performs a quick kata, and launches a vicious attack on the mutant goblin.
5 foot step. Shift Deflect Arrows to Improved Trip with last kata of the day. Attack.
Come on, dice gods...
Improved Trip attack 1d20+4+2 => (19) + 4 + 2 = 25
Yeah!
Whether Jawhar stabilizes or not, Jamir still needs to wake him up - posting this now while I have time, although Jawhar's stabilization roll for his turn should still come first. But man, this all seems horribly familiar.
Jamir clutches the smelling salts tightly, popping off the lid with his thumb, and woozily stretches the small bottle out under Jawhar's nose.
"Wake up, my friend. Nap time is over, there is holy work to be done. Honestly, I should think that by now you would be tired of being brought back from the precipice this way..."
As the smelling salts do their work on the priest, Jamir collapses to the floor.
Jawhar
|
Stablize?: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (19) - 1 = 18
* Yes :)
Sputtering to wakefulness, Jawhar looks around and sees... not much, but he feels Jamir lying across him and knows that things are likely dire.
"Friends! If you are still alive, get closer to the pit is you can. I can find ways to help from down here."
I don't think I would be allowed to channel this round. So, I'll put it in a spoiler. It will be my only action on this or next turn.
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 2
| lucklesshero |
You are allowed to channel after you wake at the beginning of your next turn Jawhar (and since you already stabilized I'll delay your turn till Jamir actually wakes you with the smelling salts first), but before Jamir has a chance to revive you, Analia needs to go and the mutant Goblin Glorfan can go.then Jamir (wake u then drops un-conscious), then Jawhar channel+move action, then Torvald can cross the pit.
Craggark seeing enemies close upon him does a desperate martial move and trips the mutant Goblin while maneuvering closer to his friends. Among those chained along the wall he can see a skinny middle aged man with a long unkempt beards. Could this be Skagni?
Ana ur up!
| lucklesshero |
Ok somehow herolab messed up my initiative order but looking at the game-play thread I think I straitened out what's going on. It's mr. mutant goblin's turn then Analia..I'm going to bot Craggark's AoO cause I know he'd take one. Analia can then take her turn. The events down in the pit are almost removed from what's going on outside the pit. So I'll describe them in this post as well. So for game-play thread the next two post should be Analia and then Torvald in that order. Oh btw Craggark it appears you must meet the prerequisites for the combat feats you choose with martial flex..I'll let it slide this time but you did not have combat expertise which is the prerequisite for improved trip therefore I'm just going to have you punch Glorfan as he rises.
The large mutant goblin attempts to get to it's feet and Craggark tries to strike the mutant as he rises punch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24dmg: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4confirm: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18dmg: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Craggark lands a thundering right cross on the mutant as he rises. Glorfan spits out a tooth and lunges at Craggark die! as he lashes out with his claw claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 but Craggark is in no mood for silly un-trained boxers and simply steps back out of the way of the clumsy blow. Analia..ur turn for real this time.
| lucklesshero |
Down in the pit Jamir starts feeling dizzy and sick but, still manages to place the smelling salts beneath Jawhar's nose before passing out himself. A moment later Jawhar comes to..and immediately calls upon Sarenrae for divine help Jamir starts coughing awake but still lying among the insect husk after channeling Jawhar stands. keep in mind this whole entry takes place after Ana's turn.
Analia Frostburn
|
Not much by way of options.
Hoping she might still help, she throws her flame again, knowing she will only be able to do it once more before it ceases to burn.
Ranged Touch-Melee: 1d20 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 3 - 4 = 2
Produce Flame CL3: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Oh dicebot, why have you failed me so this round!? I thought you liked me! ;)
Lia then backs off as directed, her flame still burning in her hand for a short while longer. "You had better be alright Craggark, or I will be very cross!" she says loud enough for all to hear.
| lucklesshero |
Analia again tosses the dancing flame that never burns her hands. However, the mutant Goblin and Craggark are involved in a desperate life or death struggle and she misses her mark wide trying to be too careful not to hit her ally tangled up in the chaotic melee. What's even more concerning than her miss is; Analia notices some of the blisters caused by her first flaming projectile, have already begun to heal! Torvald sir! your turn...
Torvald Stonecask
|
Torvald clambers up onto the heavy wooden table to get a better angle on the troll-goblin scrapping with Craggark, drawing a bomb from his belt pouch as he does so. "How bad is it?" he calls to Lia as she retreats back towards the pit.
I'm hoping that Torvald's elevation on the first table will eliminate any cover from the second table, since Glorfan is Medium (right?)
What sort of Knowledge check would be appropriate to identifying Glorfan's nature and abilities? His regeneration would be meta-knowledge, but I have Arcana +
Nature to figure it out myself. Knowledge: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Regardless of her answer, the alchemist cocks back his arm and roars, "Craggark! If you can fall back we'll cover you!"
Move Action to get on table, Ready Action (Precise Shot + goblin atk bonus) EDIT: -2 range increment penalty, I want to attack as soon as Glorfan pursues to that stone doorway.
Readied Attack: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 6 - 2 = 21 Flames!: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
| lucklesshero |
Torvald clamors up the nearest table and readies a shot(with a bomb), as soon as the mutant goblin draws relatively near (within 2 range increments). The Goblin archer now dons his shield and draws his nasty short sword while advancing toward Craggark. The ugly little archer howls in delight as he looks over to his mutant boss next to him...both anticipating a forthcoming kill.
Craggark your turn then Analia again then our mutant friend.
Torvald Stonecask
|
Any word on that Knowledge check? You've described it as a 'mutant' and IIRC that template makes them an aberration, so probably not but I could be wrong! If he is somehow half-troll he might be a Giant and Know (Nature) would work!
| lucklesshero |

actually under his stat block he's listed as a huminoid .. so knowledge local ... also didn't Pathfinder change the Giant subtype to humanoid? So knowledge local checks still apply? At least most the players of my Giant Slayer campaign thought so because most took at least a rank in knowledge local
Jawhar
|
I agree, giants are specifically labelled as humanoids and under knowledge local. Since trolls and giants both have the giant subtype, that is the correct knowledge. Craggark has good knowledge local, right?
Torvald Stonecask
|
My bad, PFSRD had "giants" listed under Nature along with fey/animals/plants/vermin/etc, but it's Local then it's Local.
Craggark
|
In that case: add on a Knowledge Local check to my full withdraw action retroactively, please.
Knowledge Local: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
| lucklesshero |
Indeed Craggark being up close and personal to the Mutant did observe some of his wounds close right in front of his eyes. Perhaps the Shadow lodge agent in the other room was correct when he mentioned that Glorfan may have Troll blood (fast healing 1 mechanically)

"Go back to whatever foul spawn pool you crawled out of or die! Either way it's all the same to me." Lia calls out as she throws her last flame at the large creature.

fire damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
She holds her ground despite Jawhar's request.

Glorfan is bathed in flames; immolated the grotesque Goblin dances around screaming for a moment then drops. The entire prisoner/store room goes dark after the flames die on Glorfan and only a single candle lights the first room. Some light spills in from the library illuminating the top few feet of the pit, but other than that everyone is in the dark, now that Analia no longer has her spell active.
khruun! ghec dhec! you all hear the remaining goblin scream as his boss drops.
Jamir your turn, then Jawhar, and finally Torvald can take both his actions (since his readied action was never triggered) FYI: Jawhar, Jamir, and Craggark are all at only 1 HP!

As Jawhar is 30 ft down in a pit, I am assuming there is no way to include Craggark in a channel
Cast Light on Holy Symbol.

Yep I'm aware of this ..just restating it for those characters at the bottom of the pit that don't have Dark Vision.

Sorry the ready action conditions were never met bud. We'll go with your new roll...Jamir your turn still..*edit* Fyi the smaller goblin doesn't have cover according to the cover rules but he is just beyond your second range increment so it should be a -4 instead of a -2 to hit Torvald Fortunately that just hits it's touch AC so you're good.
Torvad takes a long spinning side arm shot with his bomb that hits the unsuspecting goblin square in his shield; an explosion follows startling many of the nearby prisoners (tee hee good thing u didn't miss bud; kill Skagni you miss at least 1 PP). A curtain of flame also washes over his mutant boses body which spasms as the flame hits it. Unfortunately the little Goblin doesn't drop.
Need to let Jamir go before proceeding or I'll get the initiative all messed up again. Torvald has 2 bombs left for the day.
