Jamir grins at what he perceives as Jawhar’s concern.

“Have no fear for my self-esteem, friend Jawhar! Modesty has never been one of my faults! No, it is merely that as misspent as my youth may have been, I always chafed at the Taldan stereotype that would cast all halfling adventurers as thieves, and thus preferred to spend my time learning swordplay and sailing!”

Jawhar glances down at his fingers, scarred from dozens of minor cuts.

“Although I admit, there are times when such skills would have been useful.”

He shrugs.

"Perhaps we should try the door?"

A mass of broken tables, chairs, and barstools clutter the center of this dusty room, and a crumbling bar still stands in front of a broken mirror on the north wall. Three small alcoves in the southwest corner once served as semiprivate bar booths but now host only rubble. The door to a storage room in the northwest corner (immediately to your right) hangs loose on its hinges, the smell of rotting refuse wafting from within. Two sets of double doors lead to the street to the south and your party has just opened one of the double doors on the north wall.

Stepping quickly, Lia moves into the room behind Jamir and Jawar, then heads toward the crumbling bar. She glances behind it before moving toward the debris pile, looking for anything of note as she goes.

your group checks the old bar room portion and storage area of 3A as best you can. You poke your weapons through broken piles of furniture. Kick over empty barrels to see if anything is inside, look under the bar, and even stop your feet on the floor boards trying to find hidden caches or anything of interest. In all you spend 7 or 8 min investigating the room and find nothing of value.

to be specific, your party has searched the whole room and found nothing of interest.

So do you guys investigate 3C now? Remember to to move your pawns to where u are. Not sure what Jawhar's perception is about but the room door is open to 3C and Craggark already peaked inside didn't see any enemies. if you're not in the room or at least in front of the door you cannot check for traps. There are 5 places a trap is likely to be either door, the barrels, the refuse, or the floor. You can give me one perception for them all but please tell me in what order you check them. Or you could just walk to the opposite door. Once inspected it's obvious the other door leads to a stairwell (it's open). The first person to peak through(the open door) knows the following.

The kegs in this room are almost all cracked or broken in someway, and all are empty. Trash stands piled in the northwest corner of the room in front of a crumbling fireplace. An open door in the east wall gives ingress to a landing of downward leading staircase.

Not the most perceptive of the group, Lia still feels she can contribute to searching in general. As she moves into the room she spies the door and smiles.

"That must be the way down!" she whispers excitedly to her friends as she points at the door before her. Thinking back to how the goblins surprised them from above, she looks to the ceiling, then the refuse pile on her left before finally moving next to Torvald and inspecting the barrels near him.

Perception: 1d20 ⇒ 12

She is not really looking for traps. She is just looking for anything note worthy, or hidden enemies. Traps are not something she really thinks of. I will give the others a chance to post further before I continue.

I remember reading through Grimtooth's Terrible Traps when I was a kid, looking forward to springing them on unsuspecting adventurers. Not that I'm expecting them here.

I'm expecting razorwire or a spiked pit with punji sticks waiting at the bottom of the stairs once it turns into a slide...or all of the above together with acid floating on a thin glass pane that breaks into terribly jagged shards upon impact...not that I have ever done that to a group, but I am also not not saying I that have ever done that to a group. Ok Analia you must be a profit or something cause yes I moved the trap to the stairs and Jawhar didn't check the stairs for traps #scary witch ..

Jawhar descends the stairs followed closely by Analia, Jamir, then Craggark. Torvald is still at the top of the stairs when Jawhar's foot catches the trip wire. Jawhar's concentration was focused on possible enemies ahead and the nearly invisible trip wire was easy to miss.

Suddenly...bricks and tiles start raining down on the four PC's on the staircase.

TWO nat 20's?! Yeesh. Does the stairwell still look intact & safe to walk upon?

"My friends! My friends are you alright? I'm coming, lie still!" Twisting his wrist Torvald pops the healing wand back into his hand and starts picking his way down the stairs, fearing the worst.

Craggark takes a heavy rock off his cranium, but still remains standing. He sees Jamir get buffeted with rocks and debris, while Jawhar gets buried in the rubble.

"Lia!! Jawhar!" the half-orc cries out, blood running freely down the side of his face.

I am going to murder someone.

Craggark's orc half begins to stir.

At the last second, as the debris begins to rain down, Jawar throws himself back and covers Lia!

His sacrifice proves successful in protecting her from harm but also in exposing himself to more debris. As he covers her, a large chunk of brick strikes him on the side of the head with a wicked <THUNK>!

Startled by the suddenness of everything, Lia can only fall back as the priest lands almost on top of her, blowing the air from her lungs.

Recovering a moment later and scrambling free from the debris, she reaches out and feels a wetness on the side of Jawar's unmoving head. The stillness of his body frightens her from her stunned silence and she lets out a scream, "Jawar! Jawar! Wake up! Wake up!"

I'm going to burn someone! she thinks, hot tears welling up in her eyes.

As Craggark is about to open the final door, Jawhar suddenly freezes in place and collapses to the ground.

Looking around for the source of attack, the party is surprised to find no enemy in sight.

After a moment, Jawhar's eyes open and regain focus.

Snapping upright, he cries out, "Wait! I've just had a horrible vision!

I think it was a warning. A horrible trap waits for us in the next room. I'm not positive, but I think we should be extra careful."

"Really? A vision? Is this a regular occurrence? How very peculiar." Lia wonders aloud, staring at Jawar with her wide silver eyes. I have the most interesting friends.

"Perhaps it's best we proceed extra cautiously. We are entering a den of wicked people after all." she says quietly to the group as she struggles to help Jawar to his feet.

Torvald frowns thoughtfully. "We mortals talk of visions, but what if a deity wants to communicate a message via some other sense, like foul smells and tastes, or a tickling sensation? Is is still a 'vision' per se, if there's nothing involving sight?"
