In Eberron for 3.5, Warforged could not wear armor at all as default due to the Composite Plating of their body- allowing them to do so for the PFRPG is only one of the conversion points I disagree with.
Yeah... I'm GMing for a Warforged right now. I just kept them the same and gave the player the choice to either get a second +2 or remove a penalty, (since every race got an extra +2 in PF).
I think the idea behind the conversion was to use the race builder, but honestly, the race builder is very poorly designed. Other than that (and pre-errata Paragon Surge), the ARG is a 5 start book.

I made my own conversion over of some of the stuff for Eberron and I went the same with Warforged as was done with the Half Orcs- instead of two +2s and a -2, I just gave the character choice of +2 to any one ability, to reflect how there were different types of 'Forged built for different purposes.

Well the 3.5 Adamantine body also gave you +8 to your AC so that's a great reason to disallow wearing armor but looking at Tomp - even with the Adamantine Body and Improved Fortification you still only have an AC of 15. That can't be right...
@nightflier - I'd be up for a floating bonus to stats to simulate different Warforged types as proposed by fbdaury...

Yeah- like I said I'm not a fan of how the composite plating/warforged body feats were done- inconsistency on top of it doesn't help. Either give the +8 AC and DR 2/adamantine without being able to wear armor (Original ECS) or the reduced version from the wiki site but with the ability to wear armor. But that is just my opinion so, YMMV.

Concerning warforged armorm:
For my homebrew race, Servitors, I used armor plating slots. A servitor can change his armor by going to artificer to be grafted with additional armor.
I'm gonna do something like that here: Warforged can not wear regular armor, but there are possibilities of grafting them with additional plating that provides armor bonuses. This can be done only with special equipment and by specialized and trained artificers.
Guys, since I have a business trip ahead of me, I'll choose the members of the party come Monday. So, you have few more days to work on your characters. :)

So... What does this mean for our 1st level warforged characters? No armor is crippling for martial characters...
How does it interact with the feats Adamantine body and Improved Fortification?

You can start the game with armor plating of your choosing. Armor Plating has same AC as appropriate type of armor and costs the same. But the armor in question must consist of plates. That essentially means that the lightest type of armor plating you can take is equal to breastplate armor, which would give you AC +6. Remember that you still have your racial AC bonus. This limits your options to more expensive armor, I'm afraid, but it compensates for your racial AC bonus.

Ok, understood - but do we have to pay for it or does "start with" mean we get it for free? Confused as you mention that we are limited to "more expensive armors" which leads me to believe you mean we should pay for it.
As a Cavalier archetype I start with 350 gold (max starting gold 5d6 x 10 gp). So I could possibly afford breastplate, breastplate (agile), splint mail or banded mail.
Is this right?

The weekend is so long....
nightflier, one thing I really missed about playing in your Midnight adventure, was the fact of the language barrier challenge, not able to speak the common language of the group, and relying on someone to translate knowing a common language of my character. Really enjoyed the experience the challenge brought.

That was interesting wasn't it?

Sure was, I was worried that it would have caused major problems, but is created awesome posting opportunities of unexpected actions due to language barrier. Love to give it another go again.

As would I. If it requires me to change some languages I am fine with that. We'll see. :)

Well, no - not in this game anyway. Eberron is to advanced culturally for something like that. Except Xen'drik, that is.
Although, I don't plan to run this game for 20 levels, so you may get the opportunity to play your characters in some other world after few levels in Eberron. Or I may decide to put this game on hold and run something else for a while.
Right now I have enough material prepared for you to reach 3rd level. That's at least 6 months of intense gaming in pbp games. After that, we'll see.

Ok, thanks for the ruling nightflier. I'll decide whether to suck up the original mods or use the floating bonus...
As for the languages thing, I play in a PbP here where there was a Drow character speaking Elvish to other members of the party, for like hundreds of posts where all Elvish was kept in spoilers. I (and my character) still don't have a clue what he said as I resisted the urge to read any of the spoilers. At some point I'll go back and find out just what was so grim, dastardly and upsetting that had all the other characters wanting to chew him out or physically remove him from existence. ;)
