East Texas University is a small but diverse college not far from Pinebox, Texas. Pinebox is in east Texas. So think more wet and forested then the land of the westerns. There are those who claim that weird things are going on, but no one really believes that of course. ETU is a Savage Worlds game about college drama, and saving the world. It is a horror setting where magic only exists as rituals. However, you are college students and you are expected to keep up with your studies. The game will use the plot point campaign Degrees of Horror. I will take six players. Recruitment will be open for a week. Please let me know if you have any questions.

@Hymenopterix: the "demo" of the core rules (Savage Worlds) is a 17 pages pdf downloadable from their official web, but the ETU and Degrees of Horror plot points pdfs aren't. I have the first so I'm at a loss pertaining new mechanics. That said I don't think character creation varies too much from vanilla Savage Worlds, and is reeeeally easy to learn.
@Nohwear: As I said Hymenopterix I don't have the plot point pdf, but I know what concept I'd like to play so maybe you can help me with the new hindrances, edges and skills, if there are any.
I'd like to play Travis McFarlan, sportmanship student that plays football and studies economics. Moderately smart but specially fit, a man that knows how to defend himself but knows little to no about guns (maybe a death in the family that instilled fear of guns among him and his siblings). I picture him with high agility and moderately high vigor and smarts. I think he's a quarterback.
Could you help me a bit with the specifics?

I'll throw something together today.
Thinking about a poor local kid (Poverty Hindrance), that grew up locally but very poor. All his older brothers joined the military, but his parents hoped for more from him... so he goes to ETSU on a partial scholarship (ROTC). Wants to be like his brothers, and join the Military, but doesn't want to disappoint his parents, so he joins the ROTC, and majors in Military Science, with the hopes of joining up with the Corp when he graduates.
Thinking about the psychically sensitive edge, with perhaps the spirit of an ancient relative... (Perhaps Native American) offering him guidance?
Let me know if this works, and I'll get something up before the weekend.

Sounds good. One warning though, I do want to minimize the number of people who start out special. I do not want to discourage the use of those edges, I just want people to know that those who take them will have tighter competition.

In case anyone is looking for them, the demo can be found here.
Also, the combat system, while brilliant in its simplicity, can be a bit wonky until you are used to it. Fortunately there is a combat guide that can be found here. =)
I'm purposefully volunteering as a back-bencher because I wouldn't want to steal a spot from someone who hasn't play SW yet. =) Let me know if you are ever short a person. =P

He's about to find out. God help him.

I don't have any specific things not considered core yet, but I just wanted to know what my options are.
Another question, which I just now realized that I should ask. I played the Pinebox, Texas campaign material from before ETU and have the ETU PG. Will this affect me getting selected? I figured that it would be best to be honest about that.

Having the East Texas University book is actually a good thing. While may use the old Pinebox, Texas material, they will be side missions and not tied directly to the main plot. Heck, there is even new material that continues some of those stories. Thank you for letting me know.

Still working on stats but:
Maitreyi "Mattie" Chandra is the daughter of Ravinesh and Kshitija Chandra, who moved to New York, from London, when Mattie was fourteen. After graduating from high school Mattie decided she wanted to discover the "real" America (and get away from her rather overprotective parents), and so enrolled in ETU. Despite her shortsightedness Mattie loves photography and rarely goes anywhere without her camera. This has lead her to pursue, against her parents' wishes, a fine arts major, though she only convinced them to let her by enrolling in a minor in Engineering (her parents still still hope she'll come to her senses).
Mattie is small (5'2"), with tanned skin and long dark hair. She talks with an accent that is a strange mix between English and New York, which some people find surprising from a young indian girl. Mattie is a bit of a tom-boy and generally wears a t-shirt or a loose medium dress over jeans, usually avoiding makeup. Having grown up in a somewhat closeted environment Mattie has never had a serious boyfriend, though she hopes that might change now that she's at university.
Not sure what knowledge skill goes with a Fine Arts major, or whether there's a skill for photography... My character sheet (in profile) is under construction, but i'd welcome any feedback or advice.

For an artsy character, there are two big options listed in the ETU book (p.9).
First, you could take a Major in Art (Music, Painting, Sculpting, etc.) So it could be Art (Photography) for example. Another option is to be Liberal Arts Major that specializes in one or more of the following (Creative Writing, English Literature, Fashion, Folklore, History, Journalism, Languages, Pre-Law, or Psychology). Photojournalism isn't listed there, but it makes sense, if you want your character to go that route.
There's no listed skill for Photography, but a SMARTS (Knowledge Photography) skill makes sense to me. Obviously, GM would get final approval.
