I get 1XP from leveling before the end of the session and fall asleep...

I think I can resolve my bond with Sheridan, and I should pick up a few others.

Female Dwarf Channeler 8 (23/28 hp, 1 armor, d4 damage, 2/15 xp) (Str -1, Dex +2, Con +3, Int +2, Wis +1, Cha +0)

Quick question: what's the XP requirement to level? I thought it was (7+ current level), so 8 to go from 1 to 2 - but I've seen a couple of places now where folks thought it was 7 for your first level up. Just wanted to double-check.

7+1 by the rules.

I misremembered and didn't check.

Female Dwarf Channeler 8 (23/28 hp, 1 armor, d4 damage, 2/15 xp) (Str -1, Dex +2, Con +3, Int +2, Wis +1, Cha +0)

Loot wrap up:
Chest (1 weight): Roach
1430 Braxan coin (14 weight)
Round, misty stone (?)
Visions spell: Ron
Braxan house Ruby (600 gold)
Magic whip (?)
Pelts (700 gold, ? Weight)
Selwyn's plate (4 weight): Roach
Selwyn's sword (3 weight): Roach
25 sets bandages
15 sets herbs

So, with the militia getting all this back shouldn't be an issue. How much is reasonable spoils-of-war for them? Does anyone in particular want the valuables? (Ruby, whip, stone)

I suspect that whip was made for walking Sheridan. I'll try to ID once we are "safe" in Norwhich.

1. the passel of pointy bits for the twanger is 3 shooters, 1 passel.

2. can I get a translation on the last two (You finally made me ask for one, congrats)

a fork (hand, -2 damage)

I was so tired writing that. Pretty darn cute though if I do say so myself.

okay. I may have burst out laughing at the thought of you carrying around a fork, just because. out of curiosity, did you acquire that on-screen?

also, Is Barf even close to bear noises (I actually don't know, I avoid bears)

Nah, didn't pick it up on-screen. I was getting carried away with the descriptions.

Bear noises are more like "hruh". Tom's got it though. B is just the sound of bigness.

Bonds
I dunno if I've played out any of my bonds. Although, I may have a new Bond to add with Conwall, since they vouched for Sheridan at the gallows. I don't know if we're using Bonds as they were written for DW (stacking) or bonds like AW's Hx (growing) so I guess it's best if I just move along.

Alignment
Holding the Key - Keep dangerous things away from those who would abuse them.
It's been a major motivating factor. I would say a pretty clear +1 XP.

Group Questions
Did we learn something new and important about the world?
Hominids may be short-sighted and violent because an ancient plague caused them to stop eating each other to pass along strength and wisdom.

Did we overcome a notable monster or enemy?
An army.

Did we loot a memorable treasure?
The apophis, or eternity serpent, is fifteen meters of steely musculature, as fast over land as it is across the waters. It serves as an excellent hunting companion, especially for non-lethal, contain and capture ventures in rough terrain where a simple rope isn't enough.

---

This would be 4 EoS XP, plus 4 (possibly 5 with the failed SL) making just enough for level 2. I'm adding 1 to STR, making it 16 (+2) and increasing max load to 17. I intended to take World of Pure Imagination (1 day's prep allows me to carouse with WIS) but I can take Identify (free item ID in a safe place) I don't really like it for this character, since they have no idea what a snarflax is or does, but we did just roll 3 6s trying to ID items. Maybe they are just naturally proficient at learning to handle new equipment. Less Ariel, more Scuttle.

3 Questions:

1. Learn: Slaves mining underground, Tanard's prince is a capital A a%@+*&@ ... so much this session.

2. Overcome: Selwyn in solo combat.

3. Loot: Selwyn, Selwyn's armor, ruby, tons of gold, a whole warcamp full of supplies.

3 xp

Alignment:

Endanger yourself to make a plan succeed. I think endangering myself WAS Ron's plan throughout. A specific instance was attacking Selwyn and his men when they began shooting the militia across the river.

- Selwyn's Claymore (3 weight, forgot stats)

Ron's Basement:

They'll carry anything you offer Sheridan... or leave unattended in their presence.

I'm probably going to try to keep it comparable with the SRD Wagon's 40 load. Much more than that is just hoarding.

I think the one bond I immediately formed with Sheridan is resolved. We fought side by side, and by good rolls and whatever else Sheridan ends up with a bunch of animals and did some heavy damage. Tom feels Sheridan takes risks, but can obviously protect themselves despite being a fish out of water.

Proposed bonds:

Belym is a good and faithful person; I trust them implicitly. I relied on stock of items during the healing, and for saving my own neck in the fight with that potion.

Ron is in constant danger, I will keep them safe.Because the plan was a bit harebrained even if it worked out OK, it matches the alignment condition of EoS well too.

I don't want to write up custom bonds quite yet just because I'm still super new with the system.

XP:

I'm adding 4. I took a status effect and passed out healing people for my alignment condition, and we met the three questions pretty readily. This puts me at 10XP and I'll level up.

Volsung, for narrative flair, I was thinking of flavoring my magic missile something like:

Remorse begins to crackle with lighting as Ron throws it at the Ravager. The spear pierces the Ravager's side, but then it disappears in a flash like lightning. The Ravager looks up in surprise to see that Remorse has returned to Ron's hand.

Is that alright?

The trick to writing good bonds is simple [charaacter] has [trait], I will [do something regarding tait Like I owe Belym a life-debt, I will protect her at any cost or Conwall is an excellent warrior, I will learn what I can from him or Sheridan is lost in this world, I will help them find their way

Does this help?

Motives for said army and our semi-aquatic Underlords both seem like significant discoveries.

Here is another way of describing how to write a good bond, from tadrinth in a recent reddit thread about bonds. (This is essentially the same advice Volsung gave above in different language)

"Choose a thought or belief your character holds that ties the two characters together and an action, something you're going to do about it."

The bond can be resolved when:
1. something changes your character's belief;
2. you accomplish the action
3. your character no longer wants to accomplish the action

Forgot about alignment. I'm not sure on that one:
"Use your Conduit to help someone at cost to your body" - the only sort of qualifier would be sprinting to clear my accidentally created bridge; the "cost" wasn't directly from the conduit, though. Thoughts?

(Note to self: take the damage option on the 7-9 at least once per session :p )

I think that would count. The alignment doesn't link the harm to the conduit.

Indirectly, probably, and yes. It's the load capacity for a Huge mount/vehicle in the inverse world booklet.

For reference, in the SRD, 20 load is a cart and 40 is a wagon.

The bonds are great. Tom, I wouldn't mention having seen other Merfolk to Sheridan except in an otherwise safe setting.

Successfully mashing our styles to where you can get gambit from my damage. You've come to accept my theatrics and respect their results. AFAIK, you can have a second or third bond with the same character. That's how you're meant to get a +2 bonus from what I can tell. They don't make it clear in the SRD, but there are a few oblique references.
