We're about to see some themes.
Conwall has taken a different path to this occupation with death. I can bring him peace and absolution if he confesses.
Ser Buckanero is reaching the end of his campaign. I can bring him glory and absolution if he confesses.

Would this be fitting?
I happily risk everything with Belym, but for as long as our paths have been the same I have no idea what her deepest motives are.

Did we do an end of session after the flying demon fight? I don't think we've done once since we fought the Braxians...
shoot, we should have. we should do that now.
here's the move!
End of Session
When you reach the end of a session, choose one of your bonds
that you feel is resolved (completely explored, no longer relevant,
or otherwise). Ask the player of the character you have the bond
with if they agree. If they do, mark XP and write a new bond with
whomever you wish.
Once bonds have been updated look at your alignment. If you
fulfilled that alignment at least once this session, mark XP. Then
answer these three questions as a group:
• Did we learn something new and important about the world?
• Did we overcome a notable monster or enemy?
• Did we loot a memorable treasure?
For each “yes” answer everyone marks XP.

In addition to clearing my bond with the late, great Sheridan, I think I can clear my bond with Belym after our flashback encounter. Still need to talk religion with Iron Tom... +1 XP
I put myself in serious harm's way protecting Tom inside that Farmhouse +1 XP
We learned a lot about demons and leviathans +1 XP
Collectively we beat two big gun demons +1 XP
I'm not sure we got any memorable treasure. Anyone?
Without the treasure, I'm 4 XP up.
I'm thinking my next bond with Belym is "Belym is separated from her kin. I must help her reunite

Alas for Sheridan, our bond shall never be resolved: +1 XP
I feel like Ron and Belym have both backed away from the battle rage at the keep, which resolves a bond: +1 XP
Alignment is a big old nope - nothing happened that was remotely a cost to my body
Aboleths are a significant discovery: +1 XP
Quetzals were a significant foe: +1 XP
Astral Rubies still seem like they qualify as significant loot: +1 XP
5 XP total.
Conwall: sounds good. Belym is certainly inclined to check out this mine as soon as Einora is dealt with.
Tom: also sounds good. (OOC, the immediate answers are: find her kin, figure out why she's a channeler, prevent demons from running amok because that's no good for anyone)
Got to figure out what my new bond will be.

I'm not sure what to do, but if I resolve Sheridan's three bonds, and bank the party questions, Roshan can keep from getting too far behind the party.
If that's the case, she would have the xp to get to level 3. She would increase strength to 17 and gain the move Red Hot Wrath the next time we have a chance to rest.

Resolving Bond with Belym: Belym can take care of herself, or can she?
Yes, yes she can.
That leaves me with 2 empty bonds.
Proposed:
- Roshan's rigid adherence to her faith will cause problems. I need to temper her fervor.
- Tom believes himself a warrior. I must make that true.
Alignment: Endanger yourself to make a plan succeed. Yes, leaping into the quetzal demon's coils. +1
Notable enemy: Quetzal demons +1
Knowledge: Aboleth's, King Roshan, this SOB named Kenan (#KenanDies) +1
Treasure: Moar Rubies +1 (we did get more, correct?
Brings Ron to 4.3 and a new level.
+1 to INT
Spell: Sleep
Move: Intelligent Defense

I just thought that was a concern. No big deal.
I did tell you that you could start at Sheri's level, to prevent the power gradient in the party from getting too wide, right? also, is it cool if I start you in an interrogation (having captured a member of Einora's cult)?

It's open season on demon inquisition. Now accepting any and all questions a pitiable asmodean might have an answer to. We should confirm the weakness of the western(?) forces, but what else can we find out before we leave?
Also, one last bond: I will show Belym I can forge good from my evil means.

Sweet! I was hoping it'd open up some conversation. Conwall has actually met his god in person. They've chatted. He's met people who can use magic that's allegedly from the gods, but never any cleric that's met their god personally. So he's skeptical. Plus Pelnore claims to be the one true god, none exist above his spindly branches that reach to the sky, none dwell below his roots that twist to the core of the world.

When you release the power of an astral ruby, say what you intend to do, and roll +Cha, on a 10+, choose 1, on a 7-9, choose 2
You owe the demon realm's master a debt.
The magic has works
the will of the demons as well
You unleash a non-hostile demon, who will do what he pleases
The barrier between realms is weakened.
The Gm can use one of your options to say that there is insufficient power, and the effects are limited
On a miss, the demonic power does whatever it damn well pleases.
Well, that drops those pretty firmly in the "nope" camp for Belym - sounds like these are explicitly drawing on the powers of demons :p
Did you intend for there to be 5 options? It makes more sense to me if "the magic has works" and "the will of the demons as well" are supposed to be one option, "the magic works the will of the demons as well".

So, the prospect of encountering some dwarves got me thinking more about Belym's situation.
I mentioned before that dwarves are basically animist - their religious beliefs center around ambient elemental "spirits", which is a bit of a misnomer. Elemental 'nodes' is a somewhat closer term. They're basically pools of magical energy, naturally forming. Most of them could probably qualify as a Place of Power, but only for a very small ritual; there are a precious few that are much larger (the Caldean Emerald is the size of a man's head, and barely contains its earth node; Nedran's Tempest is caused by a cluster of three air nodes, each the size of a large eagle; and there are others). They might be alive (certainly, they change over time, and do respond to some stimuli), but significant interaction with mortals is exceedingly rare.
The stone that was collapsed on Belym when she gained her powers contained one of these nodes - and it "died" when the stonefall was triggered, but essentially fused with the dwarf, both keeping her alive and creating the channel. I don't think Belym knows this is what happened.
Also, as she passed through the abandoned Felstone camp, there were two things amiss. First, there's some kind of trap that's supposed to be left behind for the golems, when they eventually clear the stone barrier; this wasn't done.
(I haven't quite pinned down a good way to, over the long term, keep the unstoppable golem squad from escaping. Maybe a sufficiently long looping tunnel, constructed just so, keeps them from realizing they're not going anywhere?)
Second, there's supposed to be some kind of ward/alarm system left behind. Whatever it is, Belym should have tripped it, but noone showed up despite her spending a few days in the ruined encampment recovering her strength.
Does the above sound good?

Somehow I pictured this in terms of competative bust-a-move. Conwall is rushing for this huge clear-screen combo and he's the faster player, but Roshan just cleard a combo and the game dumped a bunch of random tiles on him.
She's really too single-minded to care she might be powering up the guy Conwall is fighting. She'll get to him after she checks on Belym.

I think this is how it feels when I reference video games in front of my family

I misread the Arcane Assistance hireling move to require only a skill of 3 to assist with level 3 spells. It only works for spells "lower" than the skill level. I adjusted her stats to be:
Loyalty: 1
Adept: 4
Minstrel: 1
I hope that is ok.

EOS:
I'd like to resolve my bond with Tom: Tom has the spirit of a warrior. I can work with this.
He has proven himself a capable and fearless warrior.
New bond: Tom is no simple man of the cloth. I must learn his secrets.
Sound good Tom?
Alignment: Definitely. +1. I also think this is too broad and will come up pretty much every session no matter what. Maybe we should tweak it.
Enemy: Nothing comes to mind. (+1)
Knowledge: I think we learned much from the cathedral scene, including that we are hunting a god. (+1)
Loot: The divine ore and the gold ignot. (+1)
So 4, maybe 5 if tom agrees. Plenty to level.
Dex to 17
Battle Leader: +1 to Order Hirelings and often they will accept my training to satisfy their cost.
New spell: Thinking Fireball, but not sure yet.
