One note on that new bond Belym. How would it be resolved? I see that more as a simple character description rather than a relationship description that can evolve. Maybe, "I fear Ron's anger." Or something like that.
Belym |
Ron - how about "I can't let myself lose control like that." I was feeling like Belym might be getting a little drunk on her power right around the time Ron really started getting into it. Could be resolved if Ron tones things down, Belym finds a way to stay Zen, or Belym does lose control.
Are we making camp here (and therefore leveling up?)
And given the holiday, we might not hear from Scath until Tuesday.

Right, right. ill do that. thanks for reminding me.
and I think you are, and I also allow players to level up at the end of a session, if we want to do that (I know it's not technically in the rules.)

Does Kelos' magic tend to come in any particular flavor and/or element? I'm wondering if Belym's conduit might not be slightly corrupted now, with Kelos-driven misfires being a new 7-9 complication option for the DM, and my eventually taking Dual Conduit potentially being driven by that - increased control as part of figuring out how to cleanse it, or gaining control of the misfires and harnessing it, or (hopefully not this one, but you never know) making some kind of pact with Kelos.

A lot of his spells have to do with Mind control, or madness. if you mean his more flashy spells, though, he is a leech-good (he feeds off his followers, or whatever they give him in their stead), so draining the environment, or destructive spells, like disintegrate or fireball. any of those feel like good additions to the 7-9 cost? any feel like your particular corruption?
Belym |
Hmm. Doesn't sound like there'd be a direct mapping to an element suitable for Dual Conduit, which was the idea that initially made me ask :-) If there is a corruption, extra destruction seems like the closest fit - sending out a boulder that then combusts or explodes, that kind of thing. (While "Draining the environment" also sounds...interesting...the first time that happens, I'm pretty sure Belym would just be done with adventuring until she got that fixed - the destructive side just don't seem as fundamentally evil/unnatural.)
As far as leveling up - I'm planning on Bender of the Elements first, I think, and probably bumping Int to get it to +2. Another question for you - given "earth" as the conduit element, are there any restrictions on what kinds of dirt/stone can be affected by Bending?

okay, so maybe no lasting corruption. and I think it has to be Raw earth, worked stone and such are not effected.
DM Volsung |
as we haven't heard from him in almost 5 days now, I think if we don't hear from him by noon tomorrow (EST), I am going to recruit a replacement or two. I will probably put the announcement on Reddit, which everyone is apparently on, so if I do, I'll put the thing here, and let you guys describe your characters, and the campaign, a little there if you so desire

So, quick administrivia. Here's the list of loot:
a chest with 900 gold
A magical altar
400 more coins in the prison
maps of several local towns, In a sealed letter to Selwyn Tarak
a jeweled mead horn, worth 800 gold if you find a buyer
an astral ruby (all that’s left of the Tentacled beast), worth 1300 to an arcane practitioner, or a worshipper of Kelos
The altar we're leaving behind (hopefully buried).
Conwall has the maps, etc
800 coins on Roach, Belym can take 300, leaving 300 we're leaving behind for now.
The Astral Ruby and Jeweled Horn are both 0 weight? If so, anyone can grab those - I'll add them to my inventory unless someone else wants to hold on to them.
Does that sound right?
DM Volsung |
Shoot, he was my most interesting bond
Yeah, I liked Scath, but c'est la vie.

Yeah, sounds accurate. you guys sure you don't wan to use the altar, it's really fun....
Ron Bucanero |
The horn too, probably.
Right but Belym can hold onto that. I only want to inspect the ruby further because it has some additional value to arcane practitioners.
Scath Cogar |
Sorry folks, was on a vacation with the family and just came home today. Have a fun game!
Scath Cogar |
Ya I thought I would have time to update but with 2 young kids and very little wifi I didn't have time to post. It's all good I had a ton of fun and hope you all take care!
Ron Bucanero |
Scath, I still love the work you put into your character. Top notch!
When I first heard TAM described I immediately thought of Brandon Sanderson's Chulls.
Sheridan Driftwood |
I just realized I'm playing dystopian little mermaid.

2 people marked this as a favorite. |
How's this for an illustration?

wow, so tentacle demon was almost accurate. good to know (also, great drawing)

Bit of housekeeping:
I'm resolving Scath and Thaddeus' bonds which brings me to 3.0, and I'll level at the next opportunity.
Assuming its agreeable with Sheridan and Belym:
New bond with Sheridan: Sheridan is a mystery that I must try to solve.
Making my "fluff" bond with Beylm into a real bond: I believe that Belym can protect herself.
When I can level I will take Int to 17. I will add Detect Magic as my new wizard spell. I will take Reckless Aggression as my move.
Conwall |
Do we get exp from bonds from people we lose? If so I just picked up two more exp and want to shift my Thaddeus bond to Iron Tom.
My new bond with Sheridan is "I've never seen the ocean and I want to learn all she'll tell me about this fantastic new land"
Ron Bucanero |
Belym wrote:Mark xp, and drop it, it doesn't count as your one bond if you want to end another (and next time a player drops out {god forbid}, you are free to do that whenever)Question: How do you want to handle bonds with dropped players? I've got one with Rigwald.
Sheridan Driftwood |
1._____________ helped me find something rare and wonderful.
2._____________ shares my lust for treasures.
3._____________ is a valuable asset.
I'm open to suggestions.
Ron Bucanero |
Sheridan, I don't think you are ready to fill those out, same with Tom. I'd recommend you fill them out in play like Conwall did.
I don't particularly like any of your potential bonds, Sheridan. They don't really help to define a relationship and the first one can't be easily resolved. How do you resolve: A thing happened to us in the past?

They steal the item, they find me more items, the item is bad and I want them to take it back...
Not to say I'm thrilled to use these particular bonds, just following orders. Dunno what house rules on bonds are in place. (I just know we misinterpreted it in the other two games we're playing.)
As far as first impressions:
Bucky needs to learn that he can't protect everyone. I'd like it if he didn't learn the hard way.
The fair folk are nothing like I remember from the stories... assuming Lady Cromwall is any indication.
The stonekin, Belym, has a dangerous level of control over the firmament. He may need to be contained.

The bonds on your sheet are by no means mandatory, and all of those bonds look better than the ones on your sheet, if the other players like them.
Sheridan Driftwood |
It's up to you two who gets the "____ got really offended when I got their pronoun wrong. I wonder what's shoved so far up their craw?" Bond.
