This is to Fix the error I made in the dealy action of Eponine that I somehow substitued with Sophys action leaving her attack out entirely. It replaces the earlier post:
The fight is full of chaos, and Tsuto is calling for the Heroes of Sandpoint to surrender. Eponine strategically waits to see what Wren is planning on doing.
Belril refuses to give up, and cautiously keeps up the fight striking the bugbear again inflicting another minor wound.
Kern easily shakes free of the goblins grappling his legs. (Breaking free is a standard action so you have a move action if you want to take it.)
Sophy moves to flank one of the goblins that had just been clamoring on Kern's legs and rams her short blade deep into its back. It screeches and falls down dead. Funny story, my notes show goblin 7 had 2 hp, but somehow his bar was showing full. This is the injured one that ran back into the stockade to get his chief. This prompted me to check the other goblin who had been in earlier fights and see his bar was also off.
Victors mind is a foggy mess, as he tries to clear his thoughts knowing that Wren and the others are in trouble.
Tsuto and the mage woman reappear on the wall, "Ameiko is none of your concern witch! I will tell you ONE LAST TIME, SURRENDER and we might let you live."
Wren makes a feeble attempt to stab the goblin closest to her.
Eponine makes a savage slash with her sword, striking the goblin chief drawing a small amount of blood.
End of Round, I will update the first part of the next round tomorrow.

To put back into order with the previous update:
ROUND 16
Init: goblins {delay}, goblin chanter {delay}, goblin commandos {delay}, Bruthazmus {delay}, Chief Ripnugget {delay}, goblin archers {delay}, Armored Man {delayed}, Belril, Kern, Sophy, Victor, Tsuto, Mage, Wren, Eponine (fixed the order)
The goblins hold their attack waiting to see if the group will drop their weapons and surrender as the longshanks on the wall is ordering. For a moment the only sound is the creepy song being sung by the goblin chanter:
"Goblins race and goblins jump. Goblins slash and goblins bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head, Goblins here and you be dead!"
Bruthazmus and Ripnugget both seem eager to rip the party limb from limb, but hold as they await to see if Tsuto will allow them do so.
On the wall the armored man holds his bow at the ready, aimed down ready to shoot his eyes seem to say I don't want to kill you, but I will if I have to.
Tsuto say's again, "Give up, leave your weapons on the ground. This is your last chance."

Belril's posture relaxes and his shoulders slump, seemingly defeated and about to give up. His staff begins to slip from his hand...

"Look at the ground, Tsuto!" Kern calls up. "See all those dead bodies? See any of us amongst them? No? Didn't think so. Your threats are hollow!" He, too, presses the attack.

Eponine |
"Look at the ground, Tsuto!" Kern calls up. "See all those dead bodies? See any of us amongst them? No? Didn't think so. Your threats are hollow!"
Wow. Just effin' wow. That had to have been remarkably gory. I bet Tsuto is wishing he'd worn a raincoat. Does Kern get a free intimidate check for that? 'Cuz that surely intimidated me, and I'm on his side!

Round 16
Belril fakes his surrender but no one, not even his foes, believes the little halfling is going to give up the fight. He swings his staff smacking the bugbear in the leg.
Seeing that Belril refuses to give up the fight, Tsuto shouts, "FINISH THEM!!"
The goblins leap to attack, The one in front of Kern once again tries grab on to the warrior but its weak little arms do it no good. The one with the horsechopper give up tryng to trip the man and instead hacks at Kern with his pole arm. The goblin lands a blow against, causing Kern a slight bit of pain.
The one behind Belril takes another stab at the halflings back, but he is too quick for the goblin to hit. However, Belril dodges right into the path of the bugbears heavy flail taking a hard blow on the shoulder.
Chief Ripnuggut curses the elf in the goblin tongue and slashes at her again while urging his gecko mount to attack as well. Eponine holds her ground deflecting his dogslicer and avoiding the giant lizards teeth.
Kern bellows at the walls, "See all those dead bodies? See any of us amongst them? No? Didn't think so. Your threats are hollow!" He swings his flail and decimates the goblin in front of him, shattering bones ans spattering blood in a wide stream across himself, Sophy, and the battle field. As the crushed form of the goblin falls the mighty warrior steps over the corpse.
Seeing the ferociousness of Kern's attack the three archers turn and run into the depths of the stockade.
The chanter pulls out her shortbow, draws back an arrow and lets it loose in Belril's direction. The arrow comes close, but his defensive posture protects him this time.
From the wall an arrow streaks past Kern's head and lodges in the stockade above the door as the armored man takes a shot. After her fires the man disappears from the side of the wall.

Sophy Cassell |
Sophy gasps in shock as she is drenched with a spray of blood and gobbets of goblin flesh and entrail. She manages to keep herself together enough to reach out and brush her fingers against Kern as he steps forward to face the bugbear, willing healing power through the touch. Almost depleted of energy, the effort leaves her light-headed, and the light of the rising sun stings her eyes. She glares up at Tsuto and deliberately drops her dagger 1d4 ⇒ 2, which flies across the battlefield to land in the bushes at the base of the tower. "I don't want to kill anyone," she tells him forcefully. "We just came to save your sister." She stares up into his face, as if daring him to shoot an unarmed woman.

Mythril DM |
Doesn't look like the Bugbear's HP has gone down since Belril's last hit.
You are correct, I went through all your damage to it and it appears I failed to save the box correctly and I missed one of the times you did 6 points of damage. Updated now on my master tracking map. I am using map tools since sometimes I post from work, sometimes at home, and even sometimes in a classroom before we begin a lecture. It is great since I can keep all the notes on the NPC's and the monsters in a note box directly linked with each icon on the map, but if I accidentally hit CLOSE instead of OK it wont save it. It looks like the others are all okay but if something doesn't look right let me know.
Wren Chavali |
While we are talking about the map, DM, I know I should know this, but the goblin at W 30--what does his surrounded by the red circle mean?
Wren Chavali |
I'm gonna get my post in here, as it shouldn't affect anyone else's after me. Attempting to aid another on Kern's next attack against the bugbear. Trying to hit AC 10.
Wren breathes a sigh of relief, seeing Kern tearing through the goblins. "Over here, Kern. Help Belril! not that Belril needs any, lol..." As she draws his attention, she stabs out with her dagger, hoping the bugbear will devote a bit of attention toward her, distracting from Kern's massive flail.
Attack 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
So, does Kern get +2 from the aid another and a +2 from flanking? I hope so, lol.
Victor Montoya |
Phasing out for a moment, and not really understanding why, Victor shakes his head to help remove the fogginess and this time actually fires at the chief goblin.

Victor takes the shot at the mounted goblin chief, but its armor is sturdy enough and the arrow is deflected away.
Up on the tower Tsuto shouts an points at Kern, "Kill that one!" He takes a shot at the warrior with a short bow and plants an arrow in the warriors back side. The half-elf then vanishes from the side of the wall. Hearing the instructions, the mage strolls along the wall and extends her arm pointing it at Kern. A vivid flash of scintillating green light streams from her palm to engulf Kern. He feels the arcane power sap some of his physical prowess.

Wren works to distract the bugbear, forcing him to split his attention between her and Kern helping the warrior get a better advantage in the fight. Eponine digs in deep and keeps fighting in hopes that the enemy's will all die before she does. Her strike is true, but the chiefs armor holds.

Round 17
Daybreak is edging closer as the goblin chanters song still hangs in the air above and among the fight.
Belril continues to be a whirlwind combatant and once again smashes Bruthazmus with his staff.
The goblins still feel confident and press their attack as well. The first takes a step that moves him towards Sophy, but he slashes his horsechopper at Kern again the blade ringing off of the warriors armor. The other takes a swipe at Belril with his dogslicer, but the halfling avoids the cut.
Bruthazmus growls, takes a long stride, and spins twirling his flail and lashing out at the warrior creeping up behind him. Kern takes a wicked bludgeoning to the shoulder.
The crown wearing goblin urges his gecko to fight and swipes once again at Eponine. Both rider and mount attack, but Eponine holds off the assault dodging lizard teeth and blocking Ripnugget's dogslicer.

Kern Bevaniky |
Kern barely notices the arrow in the back from Tsuto or the weakening ray from the wizard, but the blow from the bugbear sends him reeling. Badly hurt, blood dripping about him, he raises his flail and smashes it down on the bugbear.
Heavy flail, Power Attack, w/aid another: 1d20 + 10 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 2 - 2 = 27

In exchange for the blow the bugbear dealt Kern, Bruthazmus receives a staggering blow.
The chanter moves closer to the door and again utters her goblin magic words directing her attentions at Belril this time. Though is body is fast and nimble his mind seems less able to dodge the arcane effect and his thoughts grow hazy and confused
In the stockade the armored man appears having let go his bow, he is now brandishing a long nasty blade.

Sophy & Victor are up next..
Kern Bevaniky |
Kern, I have you at 5 hp. Did I miss calculate since you are showing only 1 hp?
Looks like maybe we've both miscalculated. I was at 24 as of this post. I then lost 9, gained 8 from Sophy, lost 3, then lost 16. 24-9+8-3-16=4. I'm not sure where I thought the extra 3 damage came from.
So I should be at 4 hp.
Victor Montoya |
As Kern gets smashed by the bugbear brutally, Victor points his bow at Ripnugget, then at the goblin next to Sophy, then at the bugbear, undecided on which to shoot. Eponine? Belril? Kern? Sophy? Which do I aid? There are too many of these creatures. Too many. Victor takes aim at the bugbear who seems to be the biggest threat, and fires.
Longbow w/PB & DA: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
AC 17; Hp's 24
Mythril, I used deadly aim because I felt like I would be metagaming by not using it; only because I know he only needs 1 point of damage to fall. If you feel it's something that would be pc knowledge(by way of us knowing he's staggered or whatever) then I can remove it and add the +2 back on the to hit roll. Don't think an 18 is gonna get it done anyway, but thought I'd mention it in case you do rule it as such.
Will roll damage, just in case, before the cranky Sophy throws something at me. :)
Damage w/PB(no DA): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Mythril DM |
It is my hope that the characters will make actions based on how the character feels and believes things are happening in the game from their perception. I provide the hp bars and the OOC notes to help you as players decipher those actions, you can tell he is stumbling about and very weak so if that is enough for Victor to take a regular shot vs trying to take a more deadly shot than that is cool we me. If Victor would take the shot as a deadly shot here because of other circumstances then he should take the deadly shot. I guess the question is why as a player are you choosing to have Victor take a deadly shot, the numbers are working out right (metagame) or Victor feels the need (roleplay) to try and do some serious damage? I will post based on Victor not using the DA.
Sophy watches the fight unfolding in front of her not exactly sure what to do next as Victor takes a half second to choose his target and then lets the arrow fly. It streaks at the bugbear, pierces its neck, and Bruthazmus falls.
Tusto appears in the back of the stockades front room and takes a shot at Belril sending an arrow over the fray and into the waters beyond the cliff.
On the wall the mage points her wand at Kern sending a bolt of arcane energy straight into him. The pain courses through his body sapping most of his reserves.
Tsuto moves to S26, Attack vs Belril 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 4 + 1 = 12
Magic missile damage to Kern 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Wren & Eponine are up, Sophy still has a delayed action to use before her Init next round
Sophy Cassell |
The arcane bullets zoom past her ear and sizzle alarmingly into Kern's flesh, leaving him swaying with the effort of remaining on his feet. The bugbear no longer standing in her way, Sophy knows this is her last chance before her friends start falling. Making only a half-hearted effort to avoid the blade of the goblin, she skirts around it and finds herself face-to-face with the armored stranger and his wicked sword. "You're not goblins," she pleads tearfully. "You're people just like us!" Her gaze shifts to Tsuto. "We're only here because we care about your sister. Let us see that she's safe and content here, and we'll go away!" She looks back to the man with the sword in front of her. "You really want to use that blade to strike down an unarmed girl?" she asks him, both an appeal and a reproach in her eyes, as she stands resolutely between him and the others.

Wren shifts away from the stockade wall and makes herself a pest towards the goblin facing Belril. Eponine holds her ground and the slashes out with her curved blade, but Chief Ripnugget is also skilled at defending himself.
End of Round 17
Out of breath the goblin chanter ceases her eerie song.
Belril's mind swirls making it impossible to do anything for the moment and the goblins keep up the attack. The one behind Kern swings his horsechopper, but his balance is off an the long pole arm fails to get anywhere close to the warrior. Seeing the halfling under the chanters enthralling power, the other goblin feels safe enough to lash out at the invoker pestering him. The goblin's dogslicer barely opens Wren up as she jumps back narrowly avoiding the blade.
In the dirt the large body of Bruthazmus is draining of blood.
With a shouted command to the gecko, Chief Ripnugget lurches forward on his mount and takes a swipe at Eponine as he rides by and spurs the lizard up the stockade wall and onto the roof fifteen feet up. The elf is fast enough to avoid the attack.

Blood blurs his vision as Kern tries to steady himself. "Sophy," he gasps feebly. "Get back." Old instincts telling him to run fight for control, but he's determined to push them aside. If he's going down, he might as well take at least one more with him. Unable to get to his preferred target, he swings at the remaining goblin beside him, smashing it to a pulp. Then, with a final gasp, he topples over.

If only he could have got that result against the armoured man! Sophy, it's all your fault. ;)
You gave Kern's condition above as staggered, but it should have been disabled (unless you've changed things). I've assumed it's disabled and given him another point of damage and so he's collapsed.
HP: -1/45; AC 11
Mythril DM |
Yes he is Disabled and Staggered according to the PRD. I thought maybe Pathfinder had changed the name of the condition to Staggered, but apparently you can be staggered and not Disabled but if you are Disabled you are Staggered. Either way we are on the same page :)
Mythril DM |
Digging deep into his soul, Kern finds the might to spin and lash out one last time. He pulverizes another goblin in one bloody hit before collapsing to the ground unconscious and slowly dying.
The goblin chanter waves her hands and cites the words of power that have dazed Kern, Victor, and Belril during the skirmish and sends that power towards Sophy's mind. Like her fellow warriors her brain clogs up and her mind goes foggy.
The armored man curses, and lifts his long blade. With powerful swing he slashes it over Sophy's head, but keeps the momentum up and in an unforeseen act drives the blade into the goblin chanter. The blade decapitates the goblin killing her instantly. The warrior stands defiantly between Sophy and Tsuto and shouts, "Enough!"
Tsuto shouts back, "You are a traitor Orik, I will kill you for this!"
