Eponine |
Holding the door open for Kern as he goes in for Ameiko, Eponine watches quietly as he tends to her. When Wren asks for caltrops, she replies cynically and gesturing with her curved blade No, but I'll slow them down by sticking this in their feet.
When Belril calls them easy prey, Eponine agrees. We shouldn't let them get away.
Are the doors to the empty cells open? Can we hide until they are in the room then pounce on them and block their retreat to keep them from getting away?
Victor Montoya |
Victor nods in heavy agreement with Wren, "That is true! Caltrops will most assuredly slow them down." Victor remembers all too well how the glass Wren stepped on within the Glassworks slowed her down to a crawl. Victor then prepares himself for the arrival of the unwanted visitors.
Mythril DM |
You all hear the door slam just before Sophy rushes back into the room to warn you that Tsuto is outside the door. Kern helps Ameiko to her feet, she can stand but she is barely stable. She is only able to make single move actions; if you carry her you will be under a heavy encumbrance load. Wren shuts the second door as Orik responds, "We either go back the way we came, or we take the door that leads to the sanctuary where Nualia holds those horrific services. I would bet two of her demon dogs will be skulking about in there." As he mentions the sanctuary he points to the door behind Sophy, his shudder of disgust is obvious to everyone. Indicating the door behind Victor he says, "I have never been through there, but I am sure it would be a dead end since the sanctuary is behind it." Eponine takes note that all the cell doors are closed, but they do not appear to be locked.
Wren Chavali |
"Sounds like you may get your wish after all, Belril. I don't want to mess with those dogs. Perhaps Tsuto is still weak from your stones, so I say we go back the way we came, unfortunately."
Sophy Cassell |
"You can't expect him to take the lead in attacking the people he counted as his friends less than an hour ago," Sophy remonstrates with Belril reproachfully. "But they did say they wanted one of us ... alive... for a sacrifice." Her voice trails off as she communicates the gravity of the situation.
Kern Bevaniky |
Kern nods. "Belril's right in this case."
To Ameiko, he says quietly, "I'm going to need to put you down to defend you from your brother." He helps her to sit back down against the wall in the cell. "Don't worry. We won't let them get through." He draws his flail and stands ready in front of the cell door.
Mythril DM |
Orik pulls out his bastard sword, glares at Belril, then moves to the door. He pulls it open, but no one is behind it in the short hall. His armor creaks as he moves the fifteen feet to the next door. He pulls it open and steps back into the first room, small dogslicer blades lash out at him as he goes in swinging his blade to the north. You all hear the lifeless body of the goblin hit the floor. Orik looks up and call out, "Lyrie, come with me. We can go away from all of this. Forget Tsuto, his eyes are only on that demon girl and we could have a life together." The only response to his plea is a bolt of hot blue energy blasting him in the chest.

Wren Chavali |
Wren, while quick to react to the scene quickly realized there was nothing she could do in her current state. "Til I get a line of sight, I can't even cast my minor magics," she said woefully.
No action this round, DM.
Sophy Cassell |
Sophy pushes past Wren to come up behind Orik in the hallway. "What kind of heartless woman are you," she calls into the room to Lyrie indignantly, "to respond to a gentleman's proposal like that?! I'm sorry," she says softly to Orik, laying her hand on his arm and willing away the damage caused by the mage's missiles, although helpless to do anything to heal the warrior's broken heart.

It is running five feet off the ground and coming up the hallway quickly. Wren stays put feeling the frustration of not being able to do anything effective at the moment. Sophy's reaches out and touches Orik's shoulder, the care and compassion welling in her heart spills out and into him, tending to some of the wounds of his body.
In the hall, Lyrie utters a few words and waves her hands. Suddenly, there are four mages pointing wands at Orik, Victor and Sophy.

MythrilDragon RPG Superstar 2008 Top 16 |
Kern makes a move to get into the hall and closer to their foes with Belril close behind him Move to O17 Eponine takes a position by the other door in the room that Orik indicated could lead out, meaning it can also lead in, and prepares for any surprise guests.
From the cell Ameiko's sweet voice begins to sing. The tune is a bit off tone and tempo, and the words are a bit slurred, but you recognize a famous ballad about the legendary hero... Bolden the Brave. Just the fact that she is even trying to sing inspires you all to be like Bolden, to be brave.
Eponine hears a rattling at the door and then it is flung open, Tsuto is crouched down in the door way. Beyond him, her magic light helps her see the inside of the sanctuary, just up the short flight of stairs Tsuto is bent down on. Behind him are emaciated flying dogs, with demonic eyes glaring at her.

Round 2 (Round 1 of Inspire Courage)
Out in the hall a velvety voice starts uttering dark unholy words, and those of you who can see Victor can tell some kind of magic is working upon his mind. Then the voice says, "Orik my sweet, have I been so bad to you? Why do you turn your back on me?"
Out of the darkness strolls an amazingly beautiful women, even the terrible scar and transformed arm does not seem to deter from how striking she looks. She points at you and begins to speak dark words of power and waving her hands, you start to feel the hairs on your neck stand up. Raising her long bladed bastard sword she speak to Orik.
Nualia casts cause fear on you; WILL Save DC:13
In the sanctuary one of the dogs lets out a gut churning howl and a wave a fear washes over you. The others swoops in over the crouching half-elf, but Eponine is ready for it. She slashes at the hound with her curved blade. She scores a hit and doges its long sharp teeth.
Out in the hall a third dog flies into the main chamber gnashing its wicked jaws at Orik, but he lifts his large shield to bock the hounds attack.
Orik responds to the women, "Nothing personal Nualia, they just pay better." He swings his sword at the hound and the blade carves a nice cut into the creatures side.

Wren decides to go out with gusto if nothing else. She moves just to the right of Ameiko, and casts a spell, draining the majority of arcane reserve she had left. After completing her spell, she belches out a large gout of fire, just barely avoiding Eppy, and covering both dogs and Tsutso in flames. "We need some help back here, Belril!"

Can you be specific as to what you mean as to the right of Ameiko? Do you mean into the cell or do you mean O13 the square next to Eponine and directly in front of the hound. There are stone walls and bars in the row that Ameiko is in so you could be opening yourself to AoO's to move past Eponine and get close to Ameiko. Also the cone won't hit the second dog he his behind 5 feet of stone wall. Do you want to change your action?

Did you mean a ray of frost or a force bolt? I don't see any acid spells on your list of memorized spells. Did you intend to swap out a spell at some point and forget to change it on your sheet?
Wren Chavali |
DM, I know I changed out Ray of Frost for Acid Splash at some point, but it isn't saved that way for some reason. I can always say it was the Ray of Frost spell I used, but I had meant to switch it out, if I didn't.
Mythril DM |
Victor takes the cowardly battle stance and high tails it up the stairs ending up in the entry room of the stockade, headed for the doors out. Wern flings a glob of acid directly in the yeth hounds face. Sophy follows Victor not looking back. Lyrie giggle with delight and blasts Orik again with her wand of magical arrows. Kern sees Sophy bolt away, and follows after, while Belril stands his ground and fires at the hound. Yes they are medium size Both bullets hit, but don't seem to harm the demonic dog that much. Ameiko continues to sing weakly. Tsuto panicks from the sound of the hounds and turns and runs back into the sanctuary and disappears into the darkness.

The hounds continue to fly and attack. The one in front of Eponine moves to circle around her bite at her as the second enters the prison cells and also snaps at her. Her first attacker misses, but the new arrival takes a bite out of her arm. The third in the hall continues to attack Orik as it to circles around in the air, but his shield keeps him safe. It's hard to tell because of the walls, and the doors but the sounds of steel on steel indicate that the women in the hall has closed in on Orik and is attacking with her own blade. The warrior grunts in pain.

Sorry for the delay
Eponine slashes at the hound misses it and steps back out of Wren's way. In the hall Orik swings his blade at the hound attacking him. He cuts the flying hound on the flank and steps back into the hallway.

I believe you get to add +2 to the damage for an evocation spell (half your level), also you have to take a 5'step forward to avoid hitting Eponine with the cone.
Wren Chavali |
Sorry, posting from my phone, so things are choppy. I did forget the +2. I thought I could start the spell at the square in front of me, so the the 5' part would be in Eppys line, the 10' part would Ne empty squares and the 15' line would be where the dogs are currently. Am I incorrect in this? If so, I can't cast the spell, as it will catch Ameiko in the cone.
Sophy Cassell |
If you check out the spell templates for 15-foot cones under Aiming a Spell in the Magic Section (can't find a way to link directly to it in the PRD :P ), I believe Wren is right. The second template is one square, then three squares and three squares.
EDIT: Here, we are, on the PFSRD. Click here and scroll down to 15-foot cones. It's the second template.
