I've gun working on a new world: Eredim.
Here's what I've got so far:
Eredim
A living sphere in the void. A convergence point of planes. A world polluted by magic. A battlefield between the forces of good and evil. The Lost Abode of the Cael Alath. The dream that persists. The world in between. Eredim are all those things and more…
The oldest remnants of civilization in Eredim are the ruins of a race of beings known as the Predecessors, the First, or the Cael Alath. No one knows what happened to them. All that remains of them are indecipherable luminiscent hieroglyphs behind glass screens and strange metal artifacts, but scholars believe that the Cael Alath were originally from another world who came to Eredim for its abundance of Adyrium, the crystal which radiates magical energy. Scholars theorize that the Cael Alath used the Adyrium to power their machines and to prolong their lives.
The Cael Alath were the first, but not the last race of sentient beings to migrate to Eredim from another world.
I'm thinking I'm going to recycle the best parts of Mystworld: Realms of Myrndur and use it in Eredim.
Here are some loose ideas I've got for it:
What do you think?
Kevroth |
Seems interesting. It kinda reminds me of Mass Effect and their blending of tech and 'magic'.
In other news, I would like to upgrade Kevroth;s musket to a double barrel one. If you are okay with it I will pay the difference between his current musket and a double barrel musket.
Chingo Chaplo |
I'm thinking it's going to be primarily a fantasy world, but magic being "toxic" and causing abominations to spawn and other odd phenomenom, and the sci-fi only being apparent in the ancient ruins of the Cael Alath. Some mages might have backwards-engineered Adyrium-powered golems and such, so it's more as an explanation for fantasy stuff, than it being sci-fi. I've still not completely made up my mind on which direction to take it, but I'm a bit inspired by Numenera (strange technology left over by civilizations of the past) and Pillars of Eternity (for the magically conductive crystal), and want to create a fantasy world with a different feel to it, where magic is mysterious and dangerous and monsters and gods have an explanation.
And the double barrel upgrade is totally okay with me :)
Kevroth |
If you are interested I would be down for helping you develop it. I like worldbuilding, and yours sounds fun.
Kevroth |
Any objection to me picking up an Beneficial Bandolier?
Rhialla Arken |
Is writing somewhere in your real life resume Chingo or is this a hobby for you?
Rhialla Arken |
Rhialla Arken wrote:Depends. What are you thinking?Chingo Chaplo wrote:Agreed. Rhialla was basically back to day to day business at the Grand Gallery. How much liberty are we allowed to take with the month of down time? You can have spent your derims and downtime in Bhelskar any way you want.
We could roleplay anything special you might have been up to.
I figure Rhialla might have went to the Grand Gallery for an example.
Introducing new npcs and possible enemies?
Kevroth |
Cool! If you want to set up a dropbox so we can share documents and such. You can also reach me at my email, tyler.a.donnelly@gmail.com. This sounds like it will be fun!
Magnes Coalbrow |
So how do we want to do recruitment for our group?
It looks like what we need are full casters, clerics, wizards, Arcanists and such.
Do we just open a thread and see if we get any bites, does anyone have someone they know that might be interested in running a caster in this?
Magnes Coalbrow |
Might want to provide the various additional rules we have tacked on about casters since this games inception (That bit about recovering points quicker than 1/hour of rest as an example.)
Would it be wise to ask for people who can post quickly? our group was kind of fast, dunno if it will keep that pace.
Chingo Chaplo |
Here's a link to the new recruitment thread
Magnes Yeah. Problem is I don't fully remember.

I have a rules question:
Heirloom Weapon trait says: " When you select this trait, choose one of the following benefits: a) proficiency with that specific weapon..."
Technically, that can mean exotic weapon proficiency with that specific weapon. If you agree with this ruling, can I burn both of my traits on Heirloom Weapon on my sabers and treat them as Sawtooth Saber to gain the following: "you treat the weapon as if it were a light weapon for the purpose of two-weapon fighting"?

Hi nightflier! Welcome aboard. There is a lot to catch and I can say that we are preetty fast (Borrowing our favorite words: Spider-with-jetpack writing speed).
That reminded me, I will be unavailable from 25.7 about 8 to 9 days. Holidays and traveling with my GF. Unfortunately I do not have any phone with me, which could enable me to post here.
Darvinen Jaalae |
Hello there, a charismatic sorcerer here ready to burst in and take charge (and uh, hopefully somebody will be ready to do the work for him).
Anyhow, I'm looking forward to playing with you, I can post several times per day, particularly the evenings and nights I think five hours behind Greenwich.
Magnes Coalbrow |
@Nightflier/Kai
Welcome to our merry little band, I hope you find us enjoyable.
Deadly dance add 1/2 your perform dance ranks the maximum bonus you can obtain from this is 1/2 class level of blade dancer.
@Bhalur
Oh goodie then we can try to top the post explosion you had to deal with last time you left. No worries though, enjoy yourself.
@Darvenen
Looking forward to it as well.
Bhalur Blackthorn |
@Magnes no.... no, god no! nononononononono, oh god no!
Last time was just horrible -> 300 posts and that was JUST 2 DAYS! now when I am week away... oh merciful god,
Magnes Coalbrow |
Cool, our group is currently in a bar discussing plans for the furture.
Would you like to link up a story to ease introductions? Everyone of the current players have been in the city of swords for the past month doing things.
Magnes has been going on a marathon bar crawl/ Low road social advancement as he works his way though shady places making friends with shady people with the power of cheap/free liquor he always seem to have.
I imagine he has made plenty of friends and just as many enemies while he has been doing this.
With the group having lost two of our number were we to discover interesting/ like minded adventurers I'd imagine we might keep in contact.
Or you could just walk into the bar while we are talking and go
"Adventure? Why I just happen to have skills in that profession!
@Bhalur
Muah, MUAH MUAHAH!
But no worries I'll make sure to provide a recap like I did last time.
Kai of No Past |
Sure. I didn't have the time to read through the game thread, so it would be nice if someone introduces me to the rest of the party.
I'm gonna finish with the equipment in an hour or two and add personality and character description and than I'm all good to go.
Btw, what language takes the roll of Common? Or is there a dedicated Common tongue?
Magnes Coalbrow |
Alrighty, do you have a preference for how you are introduced?
We could also have Magnes's cat steal something from you and have you meet up with us that way.
Amusingly that is how we worked out the first interaction.
Rhialla is a follower of the goddess of beauty, as your character is skilled in dancing you could also roll that into an introduction if you are low on funds and need to dance for your supper somewhere.
And my character just has Common as a language, so I assusme its trade. Speaking it marks you as an outsider but many folks will know it.
Magnes Coalbrow |
The cat in question is an oversized tabby with extra scruffiness.
I don't know if I've written the color of the cat as of yet.
Though were the cat to get covered in soot one could very easily mistake it for a black cat.
More easily were it to be in the process of stealing say, your delicious home made spider jerky.
EDIT: Yep mostly looks like I've referred to it as oversized, Tabby and beast. Its a one eared tom cat that followed Magnes from a farm. The cat is huge and acts as a scene prop when I or other people are bored. I do not claim ownership of the cat either as a player or a character.

Yon adventurer! A frumious feline is fliching your food!
What shall you do?
And I shall have to pour over your home brew at some point, as it does appear to be interesting.
Magnes Coalbrow |
Hrmmm...
Chingo would this be one of the bars that Magnes has hit up in his epic pub crawl?
I'm thinking he might have sold this man a cask of his brew and Magnes would know it still has some in it. Have the Dhouvarr order a round of that for his compatriots and make the name interesting enough to draw the attention of our sorcerer type.
I'm thinking its his take on the ale he drank in the Three boars.
Kai of No Past |
Edit: I've seen the question in the game thread now. Thematically, I thought they could perhaps belong to one of Kai's parents. I planned to change their description a bit to reflect their mechanics and have their backs be serrated, if that's OK with you.
I think that the origin of the blades should depend on which Kai's parent is still alive. If the mother is alive, than the blades should be his father's - and the other way around. I think his mother should be an elf, Windstrider or Bladedancer with some spellcasting levels. His father could be a member of Black Lions, since Kai was swathed in a black fur cloak.
I am also interested in exploring Spellblades, if you have them as separate class or PrC.
Chingo Chaplo |
Pro tip: Do not google image thrush. Yuck.
Kai I skimmed through your house rules. Looks quite solid. Do you have more information on your world Norgir? And would you perhaps be interesting in collaborative system/worldbuilding?
Haven't gotten around to make a Spellblade class yet no. Currently, it's just fluff.
Makes sense that you are andaran. Many half-elves in Andara and it is close to Arglondar. I'm thinking we'll discover your heritage later.
Kai of No Past |
Yeah, I have a lot more info on the setting. It's 20 years old this year, after all :)
Norgir is just one of the continents in what is essentially a demiplane. There's more info hidden in the races description, but I haven't had the time to do a geography write-up. I was busy designing classes and races that are appropriate for the stories I wanted to tell. For instance, I took a similar approach to magic as you did. Check out the Channeler class.
Also I've changed a lot of feats, making some of them scale with levels and merging others.
I would be interested in collaborating with you. Perhaps we can do some setting-neutral stuff, since our races are pretty different and mixing my take on elves, for example, and your take on them would not exactly work. But we could work on new races, new classes, or even setting elements such as countries and other fluff elements.
I'm really open to it.
Kevroth |
So I am pretty sure .. Not positive .. but Lhurienathi are fairly rare and look enough like elves that most people mistake them for elves.
I do know that they are feared and assumed to be lycanthropes if their true natures are discovered.
I am not sure if someone raised by elves would be more able to spot the differences, but identifying my race in a predominantly human town would be .. bad.
Kevroth |
It likely will be .. once Kevroth calms down again. :)
He is not the most socially skilled of people, and is rather young for an 'elf' off by himself. And he had a bad experience. Or two.

Super. I've just begun work on a brand new world called Eredim together with Kevroth's player. It's pretty much a clean slate right now. We've only bounced a few ideas around. You could join that project.
Anyone else who are interested in worldbuilding/systemcrafting are welcome as well :)
