Magnes Coalbrow |

With a short breath of air Magnes blows the hair out of his eyes, a quick motion of his hand placing his hat over the errant strands.
"N'stay there.. damn fire trap." The dwarf states as he slaves over a firepit, adding logs to the blaze. Glancing to the underfed rabbit he had only barely managed to snare earlier.
"It'd be easier if that damned fur lump hadn't eaten all meh fish bait. Even they aren't dumb enough to eat rations."
Magnes picks up his dented steel mug and gazes up at the clear skies above him "Still, spose that I can't complain. Still can't get over this sky."
A rustling comes from the underbrush and a muffled huff of exertion as Magnes's hangeron appears again.
"Mrrfp" says the cat, as it half drags half carries its kill, a groundhog, toward the fire. The victorious hunter drops its bounty and licks its paw a cloud of smug rolling off the creature.
"Right, right I get it. Can't catch food for crap. Now you gonna share? The overly large cat gives a single baritone growl and interposes itself between Magnes and its kill.
"Right, just brought it over here to brag huh? A%~#~@%."
The dwarf goes back to sullenly sipping watered down ale and skinning the rabbit for cooking.

Bhalur Blackthorn |

Hm, so we got 4 characters ready and waiting still for 1? Just confirming the situation so far

Koija Hirano |

Still working on my background, but character is mostly finished.
I am doubting what to use as my picture. I'm doubting between the one I have currently selected or this one as I couldn't find anything that came close to the picture in the book :)
As I had stated in the recruitment thread, I'm currently also looking into my languages and where I have been before I came to Arglondar
this was the path I currently had in mind :
Kamaja --> Khandalar --> Ghan Tiva --> Teltamar --> Arglondar
What languages would I have realistically picked up travelling through these areas?
What do the people from Ghan Tiva speak? From what I read, they are quite renowned for their magic. My character will have probably spent a considerable time there, possibly learning some of the languages from the Korthas region. Also will have joined a mage guild there and most likely acquired his focus item there as well.
Currently I'm thinking my character would know the following languages :
Kamajan, Draconic, Arglondaran, Malaborian + language of Ghan Tiva?
Don't know where Sabrik is from and how he traveled so we could have met anywhere along that path.
Some things about Koija :
- He reveres Myrshalar, as she maintains the Myst, that from which he came and from which he draws the powers he uses.
- He has a deep respect for the myst and what it is. Eventhough he can draw great power from it he will not do so without a good reason.
- After having learned what he could for the moment being in the continent of Amarath, he traveled to Korthas to seek new knowledge, learn from the people there and the ruins of old civilisations.
- He spent several years in Ghan Tiva, learning some of the languages of Korthas and learning from some of the local mages.
- Like most Ikaiji he has a difficulty understanding emotions and although he knows several languages, he is not accustomed speaking them how locals would with the proper mannerisms. So he will keep his interactions with other brief and to the point. So that there is as little possibility for confusion as possible.
- ... more to follow :)

Hey, I'm back. Doesn't look like much happened
May I get the + 1/4 challenge as my favored class bonus?

![]() |

As for my travel path, I think that I'd have gone all over, but tended to stay away from civilization, hence my lack in languages.
I rarely needed to speak to others, being in the wilderness most of the time. I may have come along Koija as he camped in the woods or along one of the trails between.
I advise advise having bhakiri as a language, since two of us are bhakiri. My character does not speak many languages :D so if someone wouldn't mind having their character act as a translator for him. It would also be an addition to the character duologue. Sabrik would often be confused with shop owners talking in their native language.
Its all just great in my case

@Sabrik
WB. I don't see +1/4 Challenge. Is it "add +¼ to the cavalier's bonus on damage against targets of his challenge" you mean?

![]() |

Yes that
I saw my mistake later, but piazo went down for about an hour

![]() |

I'm just waiting for round outs. Mainly how we all met and such.

Kevroth |

Also, how does touch AC and flat-footed AC work with armor as DR rules?

![]() |

I'd imagine that you still loose those areas of AC, but I'm not sure...
As for meeting, I'm not sure. We could all meet in Arglondar, as our first few days. But we could have also met shortly before.

![]() |

Some of us know each other, some don't. Like me and Bhalur, our characters are good friends, but I don't know anyone else yet. Unless you want to.

![]() |

Okay, thanks
Sabrik isn't very social, so he barely talks to anyone who's not a bhakiri

![]() |

I'm ready, but my last post for the day is in 1 hour

Movin |
With everyone else being exotic creatures I can imagine Magnets coming across you all anywhere distant. Magnus started his journey recently I would be alright with saying he ended up on the wrong side of the mountain and had to walk the long way around in order to find one of the contacts in his grandfather's journal.
Encountering others along the path on the road to Arglondar seems fair. Any preferences to types of meetings?

![]() |

Not here, but I'd likely be very stoic with you

![]() |

Last post till tomorrow, thanks

Magnes Coalbrow |

So do we want to get rolling once Theorymus gets his Arcanist put together?
I feel like we've gotten all the interest we are going to from recruitment and while we might not have a defined healer character I think Theorymus and my character will manage to share the job between magic items and consumables.
Though most of that is going to be on Theorymus managing to pick up a Wand of 'Mysthealing' as unfortunately potions are severely over costed in comparison to wands or scrolls.

Koija Hirano |

Finished my
The first major stop on his journey was the nation of Khandalar, where he met the good-natured Krilith. Koija spend several months speaking with their mystweavers, learning of their ways and the Dragon Matron. Although he is no true healer, he learned how to slowly let the ambient Myst around you heal your body from physical injuries. This fact made Koija realize that one could make the ambient Myst interact with the Myst inside oneself.
For the second leg of his journey, Koija traveled by boat to Ghan Tiva.
It is in this country he would stay for several years, learning from the variety of mages that lived there. He learned much about the history of the world, the language of one of the ancient civilisations and even more about the Myst. It was during this time that Koija unlocked his potential and was able to interact with the Myst inside himself. He is even capable of temporarily store some Ambient Myst in his body to release at a later time.
Koija once again set forth, eager to learn more and traveled through Teltamar to finally end up in Arglondar. He mostly stayed on the main roads and tried to lend aid where possible in exchange for a night's rest or some money.
Through his travels Koija has learned that words and gestures can have very different effects depending on how you use them. Although he now speaks several of the local languages, he still has difficulty interacting with people in the ways locals would. So he makes his interactions short and to the point, trying to avoid any confusion or that the other would perceive a hidden meaning behind his words.
He currently is staying at an inn in Bhelskar, the City of Swords, looking for some more work as he's down to his last few gold pieces. When a call for adventurers was made, Koija responded.
Koija will mostly have traveled on main roads throughout his journey, I could have come across anyone who travels in the same fashion. But unless spoken to he will most likely not have interacted with you.
I'm perfectly fine with Koija showing up at the meeting with the senechal of House Galtroban without having met any of you before.
About healing. It will not be my main thing, but due to the fact that Myst Healing is on my list of spells known I will be capable of casting it when necessary. Just not in combat :) We just need to try and not get hit to much ;)
@Magnes, love the cat :) May it bring you and us much joy ;)

Magnes Coalbrow |

Hrmmm...
Linking for Koija.
Magnes's feline hanger-on runs off with a meal you had just obtained?
Instead of your meal you find a Dwarf by a fire.
results in the two of us bonding over the agreed opinion that cats are jerks.
Magnes would share his liquor and meager trail food as apology for his furry companions unrepentant demeanor.

Koija Hirano |

Well, as my backstory has it, the closer I get to Bhelskar, the lower I am on funds. So it could very well be that I was looking for food a bit of the road. Would love to play the scene out. It would start similarly as how you described the one at the top of the page, except for the fact that whatever the cat drags in has a kunai stuck in it somewhere.

Movin |
You know what, let roll with that.
Scene rewrite.
The dwarf goes back to sullenly sipping watered down ale and skinning the rabbit for cooking.
The dwarf glances again at the cats kill and notes the large squared hole in the creatures pelt, somewhere near the ribcage. A metallic something glinting from it.
"Hey, where the heck'd you get that thing anyway?" The dwarf asks reaching toward the massive cats food to examine the hole, withdrawing his hand as he receives a claw to the pinkie.
"OW! ya mange infested motherless son of a goat and a bristleboar tha' hell'd ya do that fer!?"
"Mao."the sizeable feline responds with a smug glance to the wound. The cat then ripping into the creature noisily and with all the gusto of a proud hunter.
"Hope ya break yer teeth on that thing... The dwarf replies bitterly, glancing to the wound on his diget before popping it into his mouth to remove the blood.

Koija Hirano |

Koija had been traveling for several hours when he looked to the sky. I guess I won't reach the next town before nightfall. Best to gather some food and find a suitable place to rest.
Koija wandered of the road for a bit and before long he saw a suitable meal, a groundhog. He slowly crept closer drawing his kunai.
Then everything went fast, he threw his kunai hitting its target. Out of nowhere a second hunter appeared, a big tabby cat snatched the groundhog in its mouth and ran off with it.
A bit dumbstruck it took a moment for Koija to register what happened. He followed the small trail left by the cat's prey.
Koija came close to what he believed to be the cat's hiding place when he heard someone talking. It has an owner?
Wanting to still retrieve his kunai, Koija walked forth into the clearing not knowing what to expect.
And he definitely did not expect a dwarf sucking his pinky next to a campfire and the cat eating its prey ...
As he clears the underbrush, you see before you a tall dark-skinned man dressed in a remarkable set of robes consisting of several layers of cloth and an outer layer of silk intricately woven with gold brocade designs and covered with metal studs with in his hand what seems to be an intricately carved wooden walking cane. Maybe his most remarkable feature is his shimmering golden eyes that are looking at you.
Koija slightly bowed and proceeded to speak without any inflection or change of tone in his voice "Apologies for stumbling into your campsite, but is that your cat?" He then pointed into the direction of the cat.

Magnes Coalbrow |

Magnes looks up from sucking on his pinkie, a grimace of irritation half resting on his face quickly being replaced by surprise at the stranger.
"Gold eyes" the man mutters as he processes the new arrivals question.
"Wait, cat? That hanger-on? Bah. He just eats my food and ignores my presence. Tried ta get rid'a him a dozen times but damn thing keeps comin' back like cursed boots." The Dhouvarr responds with a dull expression, his cheeks having the rosy color of one comfortably drunk. A backpack festooned with various things and two iron banded casks within reach, though only one appearing to be tapped. Other objects were strewn around the area with haphazard method.
"Lemme guess, owner of tha' groundhog?" The Dhouvarr asks with a sullen amusement. He glances back at the overlarge tabby still snacking on the choice bits of the forest animal.
"Mrrrff.." says the cat, giving a threatening rumble to yet one more creature inspecting its meal.
"Well less ya' care to fight that wretch for the scraps I think yer meal might be a loss. But yer welcome ta' pull up a log if ya like. I got rations that taste like leather boots and enough mead ta'forget tha' taste." The Dwarf says trying to hold back his amusement at the situation, he lets out one low snort while trying to hold in his laugh.
"Name's Magnes if yer' wantin' an introduction. tha' beast don'have a name but you're welcome to call it whatever swear you feel tha' compulsion ta' grace it with."

Koija Hirano |

"I am not the owner of the groundhog, but of what is stuck inside of it." He drew the second kunai from his belt showing it while he spoke.
"It is true that I had the intent of eating it, that cat merely was faster."
He looked at the cat and knew that if he would reach for his kunai now, it might attack him like it had apparently done with the dwarf. Koija sighed and sat down on a log.
"I guess I can wait till it is done, so I do not risk getting clawed for no good reason."
Although his voice does not change while speaking, when he said that last sentence you see something that might resemble a smile form on his face.
"I am Koija and I have traveled for quite a while. Anything you can offer me would be a welcome treat."

![]() |

I'm back,
Sabrik mounts Brunswick, turning to Bhalur. "I'll be back, just scouting ahead." he then pushes the horse into action, dashing away into the woods.
In truth, Sabrik wanted some time alone with the wild. He saw the beauty of the world and the savagery of the wild and saw no difference between the two.
At his waist was his Katana. The blade a memory of his old life. The life he left behind in order to roam the wilds. He still remembered his old life, yet did not mention the old. Life is now he thought, never looking back.

Magnes Coalbrow |

The Dhouvarr guffaws once more as he reaches into his pack.
"Well at least you take losing to that grumpy rug with grace." The dwarf says with mirth still twinkling. He coughs then retrieves a collection of dubious dried meat and unleavened bread. He glances at the underfed rabbit which had finally finished cooking.
"Ain' much meat buh' a good conversation can fill a mind long enough ta' get a belly ta'stop achin'." Magnes rips the meagre collection of cooked meat in half with a small noise of complaint at the heat. He places it on top of a hardtack loaf and some jerky on the side. With that he retrieves a second mug from his belt and places it under the tapped cask. The liquid to fill the mug being amber and sweet smelling.
"S' Mead, northerner drink with a good taste too. Amazin' tha sorta things someone'll make liquor out of if they lack proper materials." The Dwarf informs as he moves the cup toward the traveler.
" With all yer travels ya' ever heara' somethin' stranger than folks making alcohol outa' bee spit?"
More the merrier if you feel like wandering into the conversation.

![]() |

The sun setting, Sabrik decides to go back for Bhalur, but he stops, hearing a voice from the east. He dismounts Brunswick, and pulls his spear from the saddle.
He barely understands the voice, but realizes that its complaining about a cat.
Sabrik decides to sneak in closer, better to look before leaping.

Koija Hirano |

"I do not know much of alcohol, but bee spit does seem quite peculiar."
Koija accepts the offered mug and takes a sip.
"But I must admit, it tastes better then it sounds."

Bhalur Blackthorn |

Nodding and watching after Sabrik as he takes his leave, Bhalur continues his journey on foot with steady but sure steps. He was not in a rush since he would eventually get there and time was not an issue to him.
Absorbing the beauty of Nature around him Bhalur kept strolling forward till sun was setting down but didnt stop. It was anyway quiet and quite peaceful at the moment and he would surely hear if something would approach him.
Scratching the head of Shaer as he continued forward, he had all the time in the world.

![]() |

Watching the two of them, Dhouvarr and Ikaiji, Sabrik began to plan for an attack.
First the Ikaiji, he'd throw his spear into the bigger threat. Then he'd behead the Dhouvarr, using his Katana. Brunswick would charge the Ikaiji, and he'd deliver the final blow, wining the fight.
But then sabrik saw the cat. A hunter, carnivore. He saw that the two of them let it eat with them, and he stopped.
These are not enemies, they are just passing through.
this let's you know how confident sabrik is in his battle prowess

Magnes Coalbrow |

Magnes grins at the man and knocks back more of his own mug."Well you want you stick aroun' an I'll gladly talk botha yer ears righ'off on tha'subject of proper booze. I'ma brewmastah don'cha know. Got me some ancient secrets of tha' spirits an all that." The Dwarf using his other hand to pick around the bones of his warm meal.
"Sof.. wiff gold eyes an travelen' I'd take you are from onea tha' other islands? Look like a human exceptin' those eyes ah yours."
Added a lead in for you if you like.
The cat on the other hand glances up from its meal to the bushes away from the fire.
"Mao? the oversized tabby says licking its chops.
"Wha' there someone else out there for you ta' steal a meal from? Wouldn't push yer luck next one might take more offense than this jovial fellow, turn ya into a violin er somethin."

![]() |

Sabrik wonders if Bhalur would like to camp with others this night...
He goes back silently, but accidentally brushes a bush.
Knowing that the two likely heard that, he ducks down beneath that same bush.
just for the sake of this, sabrik has his antlers sticking out of the bush by accident

Magnes Coalbrow |

Magnes jerks at the noise in the bushes. "Huh, guess tha'human sayin' of Ears like a cat really dos have a point."
The Dhouvarr takes in a deep breath and speak loudly in the direction of the shaken bush.
"Oi, I head yah out there. If yer firendly or jus passin' though I'd 'precciate a sign. An if' yarn't well I'd fin' 'nother mark. I ain' worth tha' trouble I promise. "

![]() |

Sabrik curses silently in his native language
He stands from the bush and steps from the bushes.
He bows deeply and speaks in a calm tone.
"I'm sorry for bothering you. My name is Sabrik, I'm passing through, just as you're doing"

Koija Hirano |

Sadly enough I don't know when I can get online after this until tomorrow. I might still be able to post something, but most likely will not be able to react to anything being said/done until tomorrow.
Koija nods. "I am Koija, pleased to meet you."

Magnes Coalbrow |

Fact of the matter is we just accomplished quite a lot of roleplay in a very short amount of time. even if we don't start until tomorrow I'm pleased.
"Name's Magnes, a pleasure. You migh' not look anything like my new buddy Koija here but you both sure apologize fer weird reasons. If yer passin' through then yer gonna be hunting fer a place to sleep tha' night soon here. I gotta warm fire already an'plenty ah' logs to sit on if ya've the desire. Safer ta sleep in a forest in numbers, means critters don'get ideas." The Dhouvarr says rapping a log near him.
"Well so long as you don' min' tha' furry vagrant over there tryin' ta make off with yer meal." The cat looks up with an offended glance at the noise before going back to its meal.

![]() |

I have a companion, he's farther back. I will return with him, if you will have us. I have rations, and can hunt in the dark."
Sabrik bows and calls his horse, Brunswick comes through the bushes and sabrik climbs atop
He then speaks in his native language:

Magnes Coalbrow |

" Oh yeah, sure more tha' merrier. Heck you got a decent story to tell an' h might jus'have to share somea' my good Mountain stout." The dwarf says with a dismissive wave, still entirely happy to relax on his log and munch on his meal.
On hearing the language the Dwarf nods "Don'really know what that meant but it doesn't sound like you want to gut me like a fish so same to you. See you hen you get back wit' this friend ah yours.

![]() |

Sabrik rides away, back towards Bhalur. After a minute, he came apon the other bhakiri.
"I have found some other travelers, not too far ahead. One has offered camp for the night. Here, come on Brunswick, he won't mind the extra load"

Movin |
@ Chingo If you felt like it you could open the Gameplay so we could push this out of discussion. Also means I can dot the thread and don't need to just check back constantly to respond to posts. No real progression for now but just chatting next to a fire seems entirely fine by me.

![]() |

the only one I haven't seen post yet is the gunslinger elf
Without waiting, Sabrik pulls Bhalur up onto Brunswick, and he rides back to camp.

![]() |

understandable
Sabrik, Bhalur, and Brunswick return. They dismount and begin sharing their food.

Bhalur Blackthorn |

Travelers? Well, I do not have anything against that but I would rather run on my own feets. As you see, I am quite a big even for Bhakiri and don't want to really bring extra weight upon Brunswick
Looking a bit doubtful but not really denying the offer entirely If it is not a far away from here I might as well travel on foot. Otherwise I will take you on your offer Bhalur decides after a while
Before Bhalur is able to finish, Sabrik suddenly grab him on Brunswick and rides off towards the unknown travelers. A bit perplexed about this but accepting it as it already happened Bhalur accepts the fact.
As they arrive and Bhalur notes the other two companion, he greets them politely Greetings, fellow travelers. I am Bhalur Blackthorn, Acolyte of Dragon Matron

![]() |

@ Bhalur: Sabrik sort of just ignored all that and grabbed you anyways. He's quite strong, and Brunswick can carry over 300lbs.
