Arglondar - The Land of the Red Griffon, was a wild
and inhospitable frontierland called the Griffonhaunt,
until Arglon Caeldaran united men and dhouvarr and
tamed the land and its griffons. Arglon became known
as Arglon Griffonheart, and the Griffonhaunt became
known as Arglondar. That was many centuries ago. In
the centuries since, Arglondar grew and became strong. So strong, that
the dhouvarr of Khaladur sought refuge in Arglondar, when the Dark
One's Conquest reached the Spine of Korthas in the year 1099 DE,
the Year of the Dark One's Rise. Arglondar withstood Sarvorath's undead
and monstrous armies for the duration of the Great War, but not without
taking great losses. At the Battle of Highcrest, thousands upon thousands
of arglondarans lost their lives, and Highcrest would henceforth be known
as Mournstone. But all that is in the past. The Great War ended 138 years
ago, when Auluras Amathane vanquished Sarvorath, and Arglondar has
seen over a century of peace. But things are about to change again...
A darkness is forming in the Spine of Korthas mountains west of Arglondar, a darkness
with a heart full of vengeance, a darkness that will sweep over Arglondar
like a storm. Who will stand against this darkness?...
Hello and welcome to the Darkness over Arglondar Re-recruitment thread.
Darkness over Arglondar is set in my homebrew world Myrndur, a world engulfed by an omnipresent invisible weave of raw magical power called Myst.
The game is set in the kingdom of Arglondar in the north of the continent of Korthas.
Recap:
A group of adventurers consisting of the dhouvarr brewmaster Magnes Coalbrow, the aasimar paladin of the Lady of Love Rhialla Arken, the lhurienathi gunslinger Kevroth, the ikaiji arcanist Koija Hirano, the bhakiri Acolyte of the Dragon Matron Bhalur Blackthorn and his pseudodragon familiar Shaer, and the bhakiri warrior Sabrik, has been on a quest to the town of Dalkalar in the Kranath Mountains to rescue Calisia Galtroban, the daughter of Lord Aerdwin Galtroban, who had allegedly been kidnapped by a dhampir and taken to his ancestral home, Castle Blackrose.
It turned out that she hadn't been kidnapped and that her and her lover, Greven Blackrose, and some townspeople from Dalkalar had been captured by morlocks and their master, Agalar Delmalacan, who was the servant of a creature of the Darkendeep known as Ykthra.
The adventurers defeated Ykthra and Agalar and rescued Calisia, Greven and the townspeople. They helped convince the people of Dalkalar to accept Greven and Calisia as their lord and lady, and went back to Bhelskar, the City of Swords, capital of Arglondar.
It has been about a month since the adventurers' endeavors in Dalkalar, and four members of the group: Rhialla, Magnes, Bhalur and Kevroth have met up in the Brass Dragon Inn in Bhelskar to discuss their next move.
The Group:
Bhalur Blackthorn (bhakiri Acolyte of the Dragon Matron 2)
Rhialla Arken (aasimar Paladin of Larafae 2)
Magnes Coalbrow (dhouvarr alchemist 2)
Kevroth (lhurienathi gunslinger 2)
What we're looking for:
We're looking for a couple of new players to join the group at this opportune time.

I like the idea of the way magic works, from a mechanical standpoint casters should be nerfed anyway, and flavorfully I've actually had very similar ideas on multiple occasions and like the concept of magic being potent more or less in various areas.
I have an idea for a human sorcerer, think captain Sparrow from pirates of the Caribbean but more...elegant. Now I'm going to go and read the setting and potentially submit a character.

I skimmed some of the sections (reading the rest fully), particularly races, but I'll try to come back to that later. For the most part it's all very interesting, and a lot of the questions I had were about mechanics. Most were answered in the initial recruitment thread, but I'm still wondering about energy points. While at first glance they seemed a bit imbalanced, a bit more comparing shows they are actually quite good through at least seventh or eighth level, maybe dropping off a bit after there. What I'm wondering, though, is if sleeping regenerates the, because if they only regenerate at one point per hour and with healing, that means that they don't automatically regenerate fully every morning. That sees problematic, is that intentional or will it/has it be/been changed?
The only other thing I'm wondering about is the casting times, in the initial recruitment thread you gave an example where someone cast burning hands using 2 "actions", and that this takes one round. what kind of actions are these? I assume this will be answered by reading the adventuring the party has done so far, if that's the case feel free to not answer this.
For now, Im thinking a human sorccerer from Brezzenta who fled because his father was a corrupt politician and he fond out about this abruptly. His high charisma and easygoing nature, not to mention the gold he brought with him, meant he was able to make his way fairly easily west, until he thought he was being followed and left via boat, ending up in Bhelskar.
I found this map on the original recruitment thread, its quite helpful. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_p00Fy4fK9FdHoyVjRCRWIzU3M/view

4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3, 2) = 9 8
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 5) = 20 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6, 6) = 20 17
4d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 1, 3) = 12 11
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 1) = 9 8
4d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 2, 1) = 13 12
Two 8s would hurt for any other character, but I think that the spellcaster will be fine. Reading your rules right now. I'm thinking of going with the Vren. Any suggestions?
Edit: I'm not seeing any Vren-specific spellcasting class. Do you allow classic sorcerers?
Edit2: Now I see that you allow standard PF classes in addition to setting-specific. To be honest, I'm a bit disappointed that you do not have sorcerer-like class in your setting. Your classes seem very flavorful and a bit more powerful than the standard ones.
OK, right now I'm interested in Vrenari Sorcerer of a Witch.

@Lord of Thralls I like your idea for a brezzentine sorcerer/noble.
Full rest restores energy fully.
The actions used for casting are standard and move actions.
Thanks for linking to the world map.
@nightflier Yeah, creating custom classes is a lot of work, and I got tired before I got to a sorcerer-like class.
But since Lord of Thralls is going sorcerer, perhaps you should go witch or something else entirely.
@DarkOne I'm on Central European Time (GMT +2)

As a child Darvinen was raised to believe that his father was a very noble man. He was not. While a local power, the most accurate term would be warlord, for while actual fighting had long ceased there was reputedly nothing he would not do to gain power or influence. He often took Darvinen with him to negotiations, and typically sent him out of the room midway through, before things took a more sinister turn. One day, he decided to let Darvinen stay with him while he threatened a local merchants family for having made him look bad. Darvinen protested at first, then fell silent. Afterwards, he had a long talk with his father during which his father promised him that the only way to be successful was to push down those around him. His father then asked him to go and deal with a "problem" of his in a similar fashion. Darvinen tried to negotiate peacefully. His father did not see the solution he had reached as adequate, and bodies were found in the river the next day. Darvinen knew what had happened and resolved to leave immediately, bringing with him some stolen gold and equipment.
He fled to Andara, where things were not so prosperous, and was there relieved of some of his naiveté. And his gold. However, people seemed to take a liking to him wherever he went, and so with some luck he managed to find work in the library of a noble. But soon he felt apprehensive about his father following him, and realized that he had left quite an obvious trail. So he used the rest of his money to purchase safe and discrete travel to Bhelskar, far away from the Brezzentian empire and the influence of his family.
Arriving in Bhelskar the realization that everything from his old life is now gone has sunk in, and he has resolved to get really drunk (for the first time in his life) and then decide what to do later.
With a headstrong nature and convincing smile, Darvinen is used to influencing people in ways that he should not. His naivité has not completely left him, and the sights of pained Andara have almost been forgotten on the long boat ride. An idealist, he often doesn't see reality as it is, and reality is used to patiently sighing and making way for him. He is not very good at focusing on long term plans and often forges new ones as circumstances change.
He is a "devout" worshipper of Larafae Ilana, meaning he often invokes her and carries her symbol, but rarely remembers to worship regularly. He likes flirting and pursuing women, rarely managing to stay with one for very long. He has a strong sense of morality, and will go to great lengths to secure it, rarely noticing any harm that may befall him as a result. He believes most things people tell him and is generally trusting, which only makes him more trustworthy. He has seen bad people and believes that there are people in the world who should be killed, but only as a last resort when all else fails.
His appearance is a thing he takes care to upkeep, not ever being openly vain but often spending quite alot of time making sure everything is in its place. He typically wears a dark blue shirt with black pants that have red highlights, purchasing new ones whenever the old ones get ripped, tattered, bloodstained, etceteras. He has a very handsome face (note the 20 charisma!) , with deep brown eyes and hair and is clean shaven. His hands are rarely relaxed, though he does not gesticulate, rather resting them deliberately at his sides or on tables or walls.
I can post multiple times per day, particularly in the evenings (USA eastern standard time), and hope to be able to contribute to what looks like an awesome group.

Looks good, Lord of Thralls. Looking forward to playing with you. Get on over to the Discussion thread and announce your arrival.

OK, let's try another roll. Although, if you have a spellcasting class or an archetype that is setting-specific, I'd love to try it even with my first set of rolls
4d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3, 6) = 18 15
4d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 5, 6) = 14 13
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 3) = 18 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 3, 2) = 14 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2, 4) = 16 14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 5) = 19 15
Well, this is quite well-rounded. Would you prefer Bladedancer or Windstrider?
Kai of No Past |
The child was taken to a nearby bladedancer – an old elf, who was the next best thing to a person of authority in those parts. Ancient blademaster who retired there to die. He was inclined not to accept the burden of raising a foundling and he was determined to send for a magister to take the child from him, but something changed his mind during the first hours he spent with the boy. Perhaps it was the eyes, dark purple, almost black eyes which followed him around the room, even if that was impossible for a child so young. Perhaps the strange sabers changed his mind. No one will never know.
He raised the boy not as a father, but as the strictest of teachers. He trained him in the dance of blades each day, from the earliest morn, and every long night he taught him to reason, to know and to see the world around him.
On that first day, when the magister came to take the boy away, the ancient elf replied that he will keep the boy and train him. The magister was relieved: that meant less work for him, but he had to ask for the boy's name, in order to write it in the ledger of born. Blademaster looked at the child in his arms for a moment and then replied: „Kainanaleninalai. It is a very old name. A concept distilled into one word. It means Ground Bare in Winter as Killing Snow Falls in Wind.”
The child grew into a man. When he left his master, he chose a human name to go with his elvish one. Kai of No Past.
Nightflier here. Here is my background. I made it vague since I don't know a lot about your world and so that you can use it to create some plot hooks or to better integrate the character.
His "long sabers" are mechanically long swords. They look something like US 1860 cavalry saber or perhaps a single-handed katana, but that's just for fluff. I would like to keep them for the rest of Kai's career and to enchant them along the way, if that's fine with you. They are intended to be a link to his mysterious past, but we can leave that be or develop it later on.
If this is all fine with you, I'll finish the crunch tomorrow.

I really like the background, Nightflier. Go on over and introduce yourself in the Discussion thread and do the rest of your character creation there. Welcome aboard :)
