Red-Ohn Gathas, Zsar Kizar, Brogg & Gaurm, as soon as this other scene resolves itself, the group will be together in the same place for the first time!
===
A bit about the plot thus far.
1) Tarsis is the site for a massive meeting of Good and perhaps Neutral aligned Clerics from across the Races and across the world, this may be the first meeting of its kind. The topics to be discussed are not clear to all of you yet, though Huru has an idea.
2) The elves with nowhere else to lodge have placed their trust in a Black Robed Wizard apprentice to assist them with their lodging needs. So it is clear that the meeting is an important one.
3) Remy the half-elf (now a DMPC) just survived an assassination, and its not the first one to target him.
4) Soze is here to meet with a business contact for his Master who he has yet to name. IN the meantime, he and Eldren are "testing" and being tested by Theo who both their Masters seem to want as an apprentice for some reason.
5) Falseed the Merchant is here to finalize some sort of trade deal, the Half-Ogres are his hired muscle.
6) Eddie, has a secret history only an NPC knows about so far :-)
7) Zsar and Red claim that a massive war is brewing in the northeast and that the army is led by followers of the Dragon Queen and powerful followers as they include Dragons among their aerial assaults!
8) The city, though seemingly friendly, appears to be hostile to half of the party just based upon their races alone.
Did I miss anything?
Let me know if you have any questions guys as the adventure is about to start kicking off. Sorry for all the backstory but I like to let games grow organically and the loss of two PCs from the jump hurt the pace a great deal.
Hooks!
1. Investigate the assassination attempt,
2. Explore the city,
3. Pry into Soze & Falseed dealings,
4. Pirates?
5. Barbarians!
6. Missing Kender?
7. Local bullies.
8. A giant meeting of all of the Clerics?
While considering what adventure hooks to dive into why don't we all advance to Level 2!!!
Astinus the Chronicler |
how are we doing hit points?
Choice of 1/2+1 or roll.
Gaurm |
Gaurm has little interest in meetings, be they ever so unusual.
He sees only trouble coming from local bullies or exploring the city.
He is not interested in whatever dealings exist between Falseed and Soze.
Investingating missing kender, assassinations, pirates, and barbarians are the things he would be interested in pursuing. But I do not think he has any knowledge of the assassination or kender.
Astinus the Chronicler |
PCs can certainly pursue different interests. Of course, don't split the party and all as a rule of thumb.... :-)
Correct Gaurm, no knowledge of the assassination attempt or the kender, well yet anyway.

Alright, a bit more RP and we will move to day 2 in the city as the group plans its first outing. A little combat to get the blood flowing, perhaps literally...

When this night draws to a close I'll list the Plots and Personae in the Campaign Info tab.
For now, here is my version of the House Rules for Hero Points. Is anyone interested in seeing my optional rules as well?
Hero Point Mechanics:
1) One permanent Hero Point may be used to avoid a final death scenario allowing a narrow cinematic escape,
2) One temporary Hero Point may be used if you are between -1 and -9 hit points to stabilize yourself to prevent further blood loss,
3) Temporary Hero Points may be expended to power Feats. These grant a lasting bonus for a one scene or one round duration depending on the feat description,
4) One temporary Hero Point grants a character a chance to supplement their d20 roll by 1d6 and add the result (whatever it was - no re-roll) to the d20 result,
Progression system:
Level 1-10 1d6,
Level 11-20 2d6,
Level 21-?? 3d6. and
5) No more than one Hero Point may be expended per round.

I tried to white out that first Gaurm on my screen an hour after I posted and scribbling in Brogg's name but all I'm getting is whiteout on my screen it's not taking! This newfangled technology...

The boards have been a mess since last Wednesday night. As a result I have fallen behind in all games. I'll get to this one within the next few nights if not tonight.
Dorian 'Grey' |
Weird. I am on the boards every day, but hadn't noticed a problem.
Happens...party on, Garth!

OK folks, let's use this private time at the Inn to set up which plot the group will pursue first. While you can split up and explore more than one plot at the same time:
1. There will be less of you and greater risk of death for the smaller group,
2. That will eat at DM bandwith a bit thereby slowing game down,
3. Group cohesiveness is better when everyone is on the same page.
Once the plot pursuit is decided, the PCs can get some well deserved rest and we can start on the next day!
Huru, note that as the lowest ranking member of the Elven Clergy (and a PC) you will not be stuck at the Meetings/Conclave for the Clergy all the time. You have been sent here for Remy, the Revered Son does not know that specifically but he will allow you to do what you must to forward the desires of the Speaker who told him to bring you, so he has an idea you have your own mission to fulfill.
Thus, any duties you have can be taken care of "off stage" unless I bring something to the foreground I/C.

This week I finally got work settled down so moving forward no late nights and early morning until at least the fall which should lead to more frequent posting rates from me.

Like I mentioned in the recruitment, I don't know all that much about this setting so what I'm really interested in is riding along and sight seeing. That said, sounds like there's a war or something. That could be cool to pursue.
Astinus the Chronicler |
Amazingly, i am partial to Arcane Surge.
How many hero points do we start each day with? 3?
I shall probably take that as 3rd level feat. Seems better than another spell focus...lol.
Each PC gains 1 Hero Point per level each time they level. Carried over points unused from the prior level disappear with the exception of a single point. Exceptional RP or actions can allow for the awarding of a Hero Point mid-level.

The War is essentially a meta-plot, the overarching plot of the entire campaign. The higher level the group becomes the closer it will come to you.

There is no module here, just one novel and a few paragraphs over literally hundreds of novels and sourcebooks that describe this period of time. This is a complete sandbox.

Hopefully the boards are stable again (they have been this morning) and I can get out updates over the next two days.
Storyteller Shadow |
Just an FYI I will be taking 2 DM board breaks in the month of July:
1. July 2 through July 4 and
2. July 8 through July 11.
During this time I will be working on plot for some of the Campaigns as well as updating Campaign Information tabs for all Campaigns.
Storyteller Shadow |
I still have an opening as noted below, anyone interested?
Recruitment is OPEN once again for Bloodlines - A V20 Vampire the Dark Ages Campaign - Clan Ventrue
You will start as Mortal.
All I need is a concept to start with.
This is a LONG running game, 10,000 posts. However, prior knowledge of the Chronicle is not necessary or quite frankly even desirable as you should not know anything of what has already taken place anyway.
For some reason no one seems to want to play Ventrue. Oi...
Astinus the Chronicler |
I moved us along tonight. I'll be on a second board break for the next few days but back in action next Wednesday.
