Glad to be among those chosen :). 8 is truly a massive number of players though. Hopefully things will work out despite that.
It's my first time playing with a Kineticist in the party, hopefully I'll be as pleasantly surprised as I was by the occultist.
My character has the archetype Hidden Blade from Path of War Expanded. It'll basically add maneuvers to rogue. Anyone unfamiliar with what that is and would like an explanation? Most of the abilities of my character are explained on the sheet, but I guess not the maneuver system itself..
Rin is obviously bitten by wanderlust and out to see the world.
@Astinus: Masterwork tools usually require a limitation on when they give +2 to an ability. However I can't really see why dancing shoes shouldn't always apply. Can I just buy them and have them apply to all the checks? Some GMs don't bother with the limitations at all though, and just let people buy masterwork tools that apply to all usage of the skill.
@Red-Ohn Gathas: Let's tag team some people, shall we?

Another person to flank with would be nice, though probably not necessary. Build in whatever way you want. With 4 front-liners (counting the druid and his companion), we should be fine. Though it's worth noting that we all are a bit squishy. This is quite the caster-heavy team though, but I guess some of you are going to be attacking as well. How did you get proficient with the longbow btw? I know half-elves can pick it up through an alternate racial trait, but I don't see that one on your sheet.

Blaster online.
Would you mind putting up a short description of what your powers do, for those of us who do not have access to the psionic books, the way I've done with my maneuvers?
Also, if you guys delete your dots in gameplay we can avoid having the thread be unnecessarily cluttered, but you'll still get it on campaign tab etc.

Actually I do kind of mind. I dont like to clutter up my aliases. The descriptions are all available for free on d20pfsrd if your interested, but right now my only two powers known besides elemental roulette are essentially true strike and false life.

Yes. I am not sure why it did not list it. I am going to change if the GM is ok with it. I'll be second line and work more on buffing/aid another. I mostly went ranged in case it was needed.
OK by me.

Here is how I see Backgrounds going and I will start sending out PM's tonight to further elaborate but the basics:
Early Background: Example, why did you want to be a Wizard or a Knight can be left up to Players. Keep it vague enough that you can be dropped anywhere for when we get to stage 2.
Recent History: Where you are organizationally at the moment whether a Druid in the Forest or a Knight still acting as a Squire we will work on together. I can feed you more geography specifics and the specific NPC's you know.
Prologues: These will be the short stories of how and why you are all heading to Tarsis and we will do these in spoilers. Some of you will know one another already perhaps some of you will meet each other along the way.

Eight is indeed a large number but I have a game with 13 players so I am used to running parties with high numbers.

I breathlessly await PMs. I did some research and have some ideas that Id like to put forward.

@Red-Ohn Gathas: Let's tag team some people, shall we?
"Red agrees to this."
Also his back story is in his profile. Not super detailed but enough of an idea on what his deal is.

Maybe the half elf and the Silvanesti can have a common background since the sea elves would have contact with the Silvanesti at this time?
Theodore Samuel Walden ... |
I am not too familiar with Krynn history prior to the Cataclysm,
although, admittedly, I am a bit rusty on after too.
Does Mount Nevermind exist yet?
Theo's is from a family of Wizards.
His great grandparent invented the spell Glitterdust, hence the surname.
Zsar Kizar |
Reporting in. Sorry for the delay, was watching a great movie with a friend. Looking forward to playing with you all.
I will let you know now, Zsar is illiterate except in Druidic. I'm doing this because his Int is 8, and it makes for some RP.

I'd love to link backstories if you would like, but Remy was orphaned at birth. He has no idea of his lineage. He was picked up by a pirate ship as an infant and nursed by a female slave. As soon as he could walk, he was a cabin boy. At eleven, he was sold to a wealthy performer who took pity of him and introduced him to theater/Branchala. He was a heathen, from his upbringing around pirates, with a filthy mouth (think Huck Finn trying to be civilized). He slowly learned to fit in and eventually began to excel at "propers" (diplomacy, bluff).

I figured this was a good pairing.

I will likely link the following characters together if not in Recent History then in the Prologue:
Eldren and Rin - Solamnia and Hylo are close to one another - relatively speaking.
Eddie and Theodore - I'll explain that one during prologues.
Red Ohn and Zsar - This will take place during the Prologue.
F. Castor |
As far as Early Background with a bit of Early History thrown in, check the following spoiler. By all means, whoever wants to can do so by the way. With his World Traveler trait, Eldren can certainly have found his way to Hylo or at least close enough to it to have met or meet Rin.
- His mother gave custody of him to a well-off Black Robe called Nicodemus Shadecloak in return for a monthly stipend, supposedly because he was looking for an apprentice. In reality he was looking for a servant and errand boy, but thought apprentice sounded better. Eldren's mother would not have cared either way as long as payment was involved truthfully. Life under the Black Robe necromancer was not easy and Eldren quickly learned how to think on his feet and act and react quickly enough to avoid punishment or at the very least know when to expect it. (Quick-Thinking feat; Perception and Sense Motive skills)
- Nicodemus already had an apprentice, his daughter, Arianna, a girl roughly the same age as Eldren. Unlike her rather cruel and capricious father, she was actually kind and befriended the servant boy, even teaching him a bit of magic, as well as more mundane skills, and the necessary discipline that went with such lessons in secret as they were growing up in the same house, Nicodemus being absent quite often on personal or Order business. (Disciplined feat; Knowledge, Profession (Herbalist) and Spellcraft skills)
- Arianna eventually left to take the Test, a moment of great pride for her father. But it all went wrong it seemed. She never returned and Eldren never found out what became of her. Nicodemus acted as if she died, but did she or did she pass but did not take up the Black Robes? Nicodemus was almost fanatical in his devotion to his Order, so either outcome would almost seem the same in his eyes. Whatever truly happened, it seemed to somewhat unhinge the man, who turned to Eldren oddly enough and started to actually teach the young man, albeit not in a particular patient way. He even branded his new apprentice's right hand with the symbol of Nuitari, in his growing madness thinking that that would mean his "son", as he had started calling Eldren with little to no love behind the word, would only ever follow this God and this God alone. (Spell Focus (Conjuration) feat; Foul Brand drawback)
- Having had enough, Eldren eventually left Nicodemus' household in the dead of night, taking advantage of the necromancer's somewhat diminished faculties owing to his madness, suspecting that perhaps his "master"'s devotion to the Orders of High Sorcery had even started to falter due to his delusions and the loss of his daughter, regardless of the nature of that loss. Whether Eldren's suspicions about Nicodemus slowly turning into a Renegade were correct or not, he left nevertheless, not exactly wanting to wait and find out. Instead he opted to travel, seeking to further his knowledge of and skill in Magic and hoping to eventually take the Test of High Sorcery and finally find a place to belong. As for which of the Orders that would be, the Test and the three Gods of Magic would decide. (Seeker and World Traveler traits)

I am thinking that perhaps Qunesti Pah spoke to her in her prayers asking her to go West?

I'll start PM's tomorrow. Just closed Recruitment on the Greyhawk game and updated several others.
I will do one of two a night until all are done. FYI Friday I have table top so no updates or PMs that night.

FYI, PM's will begin tomorrow night. Getting Greyhawk up and running is taking longer than I expected tonight.

Heh... I just noticed. Eldren is almost monochromatically white with a Neutral alignment and the mark of Nuitari on his right hand. I was not actually considering he would end up with such a combination when I was making him up.
Very cool. I like the avatar. I have been re-reading The Legend of Huma. I am getting excited about where this campaign will go!

I started re-reading the Legends trilogy, I usually read it every year, it is my favorite of the trilogies. I did like Legend of Huma, even if the silver breathes funny/

I would have to dig those books out of storage, but, I agree, Legends was my favorite too.
Test of the Twins is one of the main reasons I am still into D&D.

Raistlin is my favorite.
I dressed up as Raistlin for Halloween one year, of course only I knew who the f$%~ I was. That gold glitter s&&* was everywhere till it dried :-0
