*Holds up hand* I'll still be looking in and ready to pick up the thread.

Likewise here.

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

I'm still in. Just waiting for Sully's computer woes to subside.

Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3

For a while, I thought I just scared you all away!

I will be leaving for a week-long vacation tomorrow (July 10). The place where we're staying supposedly has internet access, but we'll find out for sure tomorrow. So if we get started back up and you don't hear from me in a day or two, please feel free to run Harther. Thanks!

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

Anyone hear anything from Sully recently?

Haven't heard anything. But adding a post to show I'm still waiting/around. *bows*

But noticing a post in another thread where our Dm does gambol, there is/was a message that his computer problems may be resolveing.

I was told on MSN the comp problems would be sorted by the end of the week- that was last week. Beginning to lose heart here.

I really hope Sully makes it back, because he is an awesome DM and this has been one of my favorite PbP's.

However, if it doesn't work out for him, I'd be willing to pick up the DM'ing reins, because you guys are an awesome group to game with.

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

Here's an update from Sully...

PC is still in the shop. They screwed up when they were fiddling with it, and now they need to order a new motherboard. On top of that, I've been travelling for business and a mini-vacation and things have been absolutely crazy.

I miss you guys on the boards, but I hope to be back ASAP. Please let everyone know that I'm not the type to disappear and not come back, and as soon as it's humanly possible, I'll be back around.

I've got GenCon this weekend, too, which only adds to the lunacy. Keep on waiting, guys! I'll be back!

Thanks,

Josh

I posted this in the Discussion thread, but I'll post it here too.

Howdy Folks!

Since we haven't heard back from Sully in a while, I'm interested in picking up our Kingmaker PbP where it left off and taking over the DM'ing duties. I'd just like to know if you all would still be interested in playing.

When we left off, we had the following people:

Talomyr as Karthas the barbarian/rogue;
Alex Kilcoyne as Berenkor Trandoran the bard;
Nazard as Eseldra the conjuror;
Sunset as Tyr Thordinsjon the fighter;
Wakedown as Euron Kelredis the druid; and
Marcus Ewert as Mikmek Scarygrowler the kobold.

If I take up the DM'ing mantle, Harther will bow out of the group.

Just to let you know, I've never run a PbP, but I've played in several - most recently under the best PbP DM's I've ever encountered. So I have some great examples to follow (but some big shoes to fill in order to live up to their examples)!

Please let me know if you would be interested in continuing our Kingmaker campaign.

Thanks!

I will be bowing out as discussed, so theres a slot there. (Berenkor)

Thanks, Alex!

(Also posted in the Discussion thread) To Talomyr/Karthas and any of the other players who would like to continue, please feel free to update your characters using the new options in the APG if you would like.

I'll give everyone a few days to decide if they want to continue, and then see if we need to seek any new players.

Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3

Whoa... I had almost given up on this one! I'm still around and willing to give it a shot if it can come back to life.

*Bows* Been busy with other things. I am glad ass well that this PbP looks like it will continue on. Much thanks to you Max Hellspont/Harther Medvyed for picking up the mantle.

I shall indeed take up your offer of using the APG. There is/are some things within that will benefit the character of Tyr. *bows in thanks*

Alright, it looks like we have Karthas, Euron, Tyr, and Eseldra on board. We'll give Marcus/Mikmek another day or two, and then look for another couple of players. Hopefully we can start back up by this weekend.

Thanks Everybody!

Just as a reminder, here's a listing of the highlights of the Chartered Six's past accomplishments:

-- Defeated mites.
-- Helped Sootscale kobolds drive away evil shaman.
-- Forged alliance with Sootscale kobolds.
-- Retrieved Svetlana's wedding ring.
-- Obtained moon radishes for Svetlana.
-- Discovered potential gold mine.
-- Discovered old barbarian burial mound.
-- Discovered lost temple of Erastil.

Have a great game guys.

I'll probably pursue the Wolf Shaman variant of druid from the APG, since it's thematically appropriate for Euron and Niko.

Greenbelt Hex Map

Just a reminder: The area the charter requires you to explore includes hexes 2A-2F, hexes 3B-3F, hexes 4B-4F, hexes 5B-5G, hexes 6A-6F, and hexes 7B-7E. Each hex is either made up of primarily hill country or primarily forest country, with each requiring a different amount of time to travel across or fully explore. Note that travelling across a hex is not the same as fully exploring it, and just travelling is much faster. Also note that I'll ask for survival checks to avoid getting lost moving in a hex that has not been explored (aid another is possible in this case). As a group, you guys can decide how best to move through the Stolen Lands, what areas to focus on, or where to head. The overarching goal is to fully map this area, including all landmarks, resources, and so on.

For Cinders:
Your travels with your latest mercenary band have brought you far from home, all the way to the northern backwater reaches of the River Kingdoms, near the southern border of the country of Brevoy. Having grown tired of the mercenaries' uncouth ways, you decided to terminate your employment with them as the group passed through a small waystation known as Oleg's Trading Post. Oleg's seems very prosperous for such an out-of-the-way location, with a small garrison out of the Brevic town of Restov providing security, and an itinerant priest of Erastil having taken up temporary residence. While the folks at Oleg's seem mildly curious as to why you hide your appearance under voluminous robes and hood, they have been nothing but warm and welcoming during the few days that you have been staying there.

A bit of excitement was raised this morning (Pharast 24) when the Erastan priest, Jhod Kavken, revealed that he had received a vision from his diety: A curse had been lifted from a lost temple of Erastil by a local band of heroes, the Chartered Six, and the heroes would be returning to Oleg's that evening. The trading post erupted into a flurry of activity as the word went out to the local residents and preparations were made for a celebration that evening.

Just after sunset the heroes arrive, minus one member. They are a diverse group: three human males of a martial mien, a female elf, and a male gnome. When asked, one of the workers at Oleg's tells you that the heroes are Karthas of Numeria, Tyr Thordinsjon from the Lake of Mists and Veils, Harther Medvyed of Brevic noble House Medvyed, Eseldra the conjuror, and Berenkor Trandoran the bard and political activist.

For Hiram:
Your journey to see a bit of the countryside outside of the family homestead has brought you west to Oleg's Trading Post on this fine spring afternoon of Pharast 24. You're pleasantly surprised to find Oleg's so prosperous for such an out-of-the-way location, with a small garrison out of the Brevic town of Restov providing security, and an itinerant priest of Erastil having taken up temporary residence. You're also surprised to see an old friend of yours, Jamison Walker, has also arrived at Oleg's earlier this day.

The trading post is abuzz with activity. Earlier in the day, the Erastan priest, Jhod Kavken, revealed that he had received a vision from his diety: A curse had been lifted from a lost temple of Erastil by a local band of heroes, the Chartered Six, and the heroes will be returning to Oleg's this evening. You've heard a bit about the Chartered Six during your travels: how the group received a charter from the Swordlords of Restov to explore the Greenbelt and fight against the rampant lawlessness in the area. By all reports, they have been very successful so far. A celebration is to be held this evening in honor of the returning heroes.

RECAP: Pharast 24, shortly after sunset

The Chartered Six, minus one, return to Oleg's Trading Post after removing a curse from a lost temple of Erastil. One of their companions, the priestess Raninr Alford, stayed behind to begin work on restoring the temple to its former glory. Upon their arrival at Oleg's they meet a new companion - the druid Euron Kelredis, with his wolf Niko and his elk mount Tunica. The explorers are also surprised to see an old friend - Mikmek of the Sootscale tribe, the kobold scout that the companions rescued from the evil mites. The group is even more surprised to learn that the little kobold wishes to join their band, although he is very disconcerted to see that Rani is no longer with the group.

Several other people are present this evening to celebrate the return of the area's resident heroes: Sir Kesten Garess and the men under his command who are responsible for protecting Oleg's Trading Post; Jhod Kavken, the wandering priest of Erastil; Gilbert and Mik, the reformed bandits who now work for Oleg; plus several other local trappers, farmers, and a few travelers. Of particular note are three persons: a robed and hooded individual who sits well back from the fire, and a tobacco-chewing farmer and a young man wearing a kilt who are both talking to Jhod Kavken.

Oleg's wife, Svetlana, has outdone herself this evening, serving up an enormous meal of roasted wild boar, fried tubers, and cornmeal bread washed down with some of Oleg's finest homebrew. The crowd keeps Gilbert and Mik busy keeping trenchers and flagons filled. Berenkor keeps the crowd entertained with stories of the Chartered Six's latest exploits.

At one point during the festivities Oleg sits down next to Karthas and Eseldra. "Just wanted to let you know. The equipment you ordered from Restov came in today, along with your reward from the Swordlords for forging an alliance with them kobolds. Plus they've also sent you a reward for clearing out that bandit camp at the Thorn River. I've got it all locked up safe for you," he says.

That's a 1000 gp reward for the kobolds, and a 400 gp reward for the bandits. A reminder: for purchases at Oleg's, the trader's standard pricing is market +5% for the Chartered Six. Items can be sold/traded to Oleg for 60% of market value. As before, Oleg has 1200 gp to use to purchase your unwanted gear, and will also trade gear for credit at his trading post with no limit.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle 2

The robed individual at the back quietly nurses a single drink and watches the newly arrived heroes intently.

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

A slightly inebriated barbarian makes his way over to Jhod and the folks he is speaking to.

"Pardon my interuption. Jhod, I assume you will be wanting to join Rani at the shrine? Will you be wanting an escort, or can you make your own way?"

The scarred Kellid turns to the folks Jhod was speaking to and introduces himself.

"Well ya can't be all bad if Oleg is lettin ya stay around here."
The barbarian extends a hand in greeting, "The name's Karthas. Who might you be?"

Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3

"There, there girl", Euron reassures the elk as he gently pats her, with a sidelong glance out of the stable's double doors. "Party'll die down soon enough, and you'll get some nice peace and quiet." The large animal looked skeptical but calmed at the druid's words. With a wry smile he looked out the doors at the wolf, padding around all the people gathered outside, setting it's chin on each person's leg and giving them the look that eventually resulted in a kind pat and free meat.

Leaving the stable, he spotted Harther, the one he recognized as the other outdoorsman, who had just rolled up the map the Chartered Six were using to track their exploration. Not being much of a dancer or singer, he meandered past the others and approached the ranger. "I've seen that look on men's faces before - is there a change in your group's plans?"

Just to let folks know. My computer has died. I shall try and get the character fixed up and such as soon as I can. *bows*

"Oh, excellent. Thank you, Oleg. I'll pick those components up from you first thing in the morning. Tell me, who are these three newcomers? What do you know about them?"

Male Human Paladin: 2

The young man, talking with Jhod Kavken, stands with one hand full of food, and the other a beverage. His cheeks bulge from a full mouth, and his upper lip sports a vicious home-brew mustache, the suds from the brew sticking to the slight hairs there. He doesn't chew with his mouth open, but he also wastes no food.

He stands at a medium height for human youths, his body the well-toned frame of a youngster who has spent his life farming. He wears a kilt, down just below his knees, well-polished but worn boots, and a shirt with a woolen vest.

He speaks of rural things with Jhod, planting times, and last seasons harvest, and nods at the others around the party with an easy smile.

"Mister Walker! It is good to see you! Did that peach tree come back this year? My oh my am I awful sorry about breakin' that branch! I gave Gerti and Mati a strong talkin' to after that. I hope it has not damaged your harvest this year. I can pay to make up the difference if needed."

He looks to Jamison with concern waiting for his answer.

When Karthas comes over
"Karthas, hmm, one of the Chartered Six that I have been hearing so much about! And this Rani? Is he and this shrine the Temple of Erastil that Mister Kavken mentioned earlier? Rani...kinda a funny name for a fella."

He sets down his drink, and wipes his hand on his kilt, "Where are my manners, I apologize. M'name's Hiram, Hiram Salatin. Though most folks just call me Bubba. Please'd to meet'cha!"

He bends over to get his drink, and waits patiently for the conversation to unfold, sipping his drink, and horking down his food.

Karthas scowls at the young man and responds,

"Perhaps it sounds odd for a 'fella', since Rani is not a man. She is a rather spirited woman...we have...err had a couple of those amongst our numbers."

Unable to hold his scowl much longer, watching the youngster gulp down vast quatities of food and drink, Karthas breaks into a laugh.

"Well met, Hiram."

The Numerian turns his attention to the other man standing with Hiram an Jhod,

"And who might you be?"

Eseldra wrote:

"Well, the lad in the kilt and the fella spittin' tobacco juice all over the yard are a couple of farmers from a-ways to the east," Oleg replies, studying the two newcomers talking to Jhod Kavken and Karthas. "Young un's named Hiram Salatin, and the other's Jamison Walker. Near as I can tell they're followers of Ol' Deadeye like Friar Jhod. Mayhaps they'll be wantin' to see that lost temple you all found, eh?"

Glancing toward the edge of the gathering, the stout trader's voice drops to a whisper. "Now that hooded one there," he says, his eyes indicating the robed individual sitting well back from the fire, "you can't tell by all those robes, but there's a woman under there. Rolled in here with a group of mercenaries passin' through a few days ago, but didn't leave with 'em. Don't know why she hides herself so, but she seems pleasant enough, if a bit stand-offish. Calls 'erself Cinders."

Hiram begins coughing hard, and almost chokes on his food. He sputters for a moment, and then gulps really loudly.

"Wow! A woman? Really? From Friar Kavken, I just kinda had it in m'head that she was a he. I am so sorry. I assumed that someone tendin' a holy site was a cleric, an most ol' Dead Eyes clerics are males. She must be an exceptional person. If given the chance, I will apologize."

He looks down at his half-eaten trencher, and looks pretty sad for a moment or two, and then begins to eat again, slowly, while looking unsure of himself suddenly.

Not more n' five minutes with them, and I already got a poor reputation! Hiram thinks as he shakes his head and ponders his situation.

Karthas wrote:

"Karthas!" Jhod Kavken enthusiastically greets the scarred Kellid. "Praise be to Erastil! I can't thank you enough for restoring the temple! Truly the Chartered Six have earned the favor of Ol' Deadeye!"

"Yes, I plan to join Rani, and I would welcome an escort to the temple if it wouldn't be an inconvenience," Jhod replies to Karthas' question. "I figure we can take more supplies to help with the re-establishment of the temple if we travel together in one large group. And if you wouldn't mind the extra company, I'm sure that Hiram and Jamison here would like to see the temple. Did you know that they are both in the service of Erastil?"

"I just want you to know that you and the other members of the Chartered Six have done a great service for the faithful of Erastil, and we owe you a great debt of gratitude. As a token of my appreciation, I will provide any spellcasting you and your allies need free of charge for the rest of my life (OOC: with the exception of expensive material components, which the PCs must still supply)."

Hiram Salatin wrote:

Friar Jhod chuckles warmly as he clasps Hiram's shoulder. "There now, lad! It was an honest mistake, and truly I was not clear in my description of the members of the Chartered Six. While it is true that most of Erastil's clergy are male, Sister Rani is an exceptional person indeed!"

"And did you know, Karthas - young Hiram is also a member of Erastil's faithful. A paladin, one of the rare few of the faithful willing to take up arms so the common folk can get on with their lives. And Friar Jamison here," Jhod adds, indicating the tobacco-chewing gentleman, "is also a member of the faith. A priest like myself."

"Not in our group's plans, but I'm afraid that my plans must change," Harther answers Euron's question. "Mistress Svetlana remembered that a letter came for me a few days ago, and I'm afraid it bears bad news. My father's body was found and identified a few weeks ago in the wilds southeast of Restov. Since I failed to find my father alive, my elder brother wants me to return home to take my place in the family trade business. He's even petitioned the Swordlords of Restov to have my exploration charter revoked."

Harther pauses in thought for a moment, and then hands Euron the scroll tube holding the partial map of the Greenbelt and a broken wayfinder. "I'll be heading out for Restov in the morning. Take these. I have a feeling that you may become the cartographer for the group. And this broken wayfinder may not give off light anymore, but it still works well enough to keep you from getting lost and can help with exploration." The ranger smiles wistfully at a pleasant memory as he holds the wayfinder. "Svetlana gave us this and an everburning torch as a reward for bringing her a basket of moon radishes. That was some good soup..."

The broken wayfinder isn't always reliable, and doesn't give off light anymore, but it can be used by someone to give them a +1 circumstance bonus to any Survival check to avoid getting lost or to exploring a hex.

BTW, who carries the everburning torch?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

While initially garnering several suspicious glances, Mikmek the kobold gradually dispels any misgivings held by the celebrants through his obvious adoration of the Chartered Six. The Sootscale scout repeatedly tells the story of how the 'much-brave big-feet saved poor Mikmek from the nasty-vile-stinky mites' - the tale becoming more outlandish with each repetition.

Mikmek also becomes increasingly intoxicated as the evening progresses, his reptilian constitution no match for Oleg's homebrew. During one particularly enthusiastic (and extremely embellished) re-enactment of the group's battle against Chief Grabbles and his giant tick mount, Mikmek jumps up onto one of the tables, steps in a trencher bearing the greasy remains of a patron's dinner, and loses his balance. Arms and legs flailing comically, the inebriated kobold topples into the lap of the robed and hooded individual sitting well back from the fire, spilling his flagon of drink over them both. Horrified, the poor kobold stumbles to his feet, grabs another patron's discarded cloak, and vigorously tries to wipe the offending liquid off of the shocked Cinders, all the while apologizing profusely, "Mikmek sorry! Mikmek clean up! Mikmek make better! Mikmek so clumsy! Please nice big-feet no hurt Mikmek!"

Male Human Cleric 2

The mountainous man who has been sitting in quiet thought suddenly raises his head, as if he is hearing voices around him for the first time. His thoughts seem to have been elsewhere. His rumbling bass drawl is easily heard above the clamor of the celebration whenever he speaks.

In response to Hiram:

Ah, Hiram Salatin! Sure'n is good to see one ah recognize in such a place. Mah peach tree made a delightful comearound, and so's the better for it, but ah fear I got much more tuh worry 'bout than that sack o' sap these days. Have ye not heard about Melissa? Ayuh, muh farm was burned down by lawless bandits not more'n a fortnight or so ago, and Mel was taken away by 'em, as well. Soon's ah came to, I set about tuh find 'er. Folk along the road mentioned Oleg's here, and some mentioned these adventurers (the word comes out sounding like 'sad ventures') too. Ah'm hopin' they might see to it tuh let me tag along with 'em, seein' as I heard they're rootin' out bandit-types from the land hereabouts.

His voice fades away to little more than a whisper, as he adds...

Truth be told, ah don't hold out much hope o' ever seein' Mel's face again, but muh heart can't find no rest until I look as hard as I might.

Later, to Karthas:

Greetin's, mah name's Jamison Lee Walker. It's a pleasure 't be meetin' you and yours.

Once the temple to Erastil is mentioned:

Why, that must be a sight tuh see! Ah've ever set my watch and warrant by Ol' Deadeye, an' I suppose he's rewarded me with some gifts an' the like in return. Ah hardly think o' muhself as a Cleric, as the good Friar says, but come tuh think on 't, ah do try t' spread th' word o' Erastil tuh any who seem tuh be in a bad place, or tuh any who ask. An in th' embers o' my farm, ah did find this book, it n' it only, with th' rest o' everything ah owned nothin' but a burnin' wreck. He pulls a slightly charred but otherwise completely whole copy of The Parables Of Erastil out of a weathered pack. Aye, ah'd like tuh see such a thing as a temple tuh Ol' Deadeye, yes indeed. Mayhap I could accompany you, at least that far, if'n saying so isn't too forthcomin'? He shifts his weight nervously, clearly not accustomed to talking this much, and seemingly not accustomed to asking others for thier company.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle 2

"That's all right," Cinders says, taking hold of the kobold's arms as he tries to clean her off and holding them back from her. "I can take care of it. It was just an accident. You don't need to clean me off. And don't worry, I won't hurt you."

When he's calmed down a bit, she'll let go of his arms (assuming he doesn't start fighting with her, in which case she'll let go of him earlier, not wanting to cause a fight). "There, that's better. Now, why don't you go back to your story-telling?"

Male Human Paladin: 2

When Jhod makes comment about Hiram being a paladin.
Hiram blushes slightly, and looks uncomfortable for a moment,

Ohh, Friar Kavken makes it sound better'n'tis. I am a farm boy with a simple faith, and I don't take kindly to good people sufferin'.

In response to James' comments.
At the news of the burning of the Walker farm, and the disappearance of Mrs. Melissa, a tear comes to Hiram's eye. His lips quaver a bit,

I'm real sorry Mister Walker. She always was nice to me, 'specially durin' harvest and what not.

For once this evening, he stops eating, and looks at the ground, his face flushed and fighting back tears.

When JW makes his request to join the group at least to the temple...

After Mister Walker makes his request, Hiram stands next to him and looks out at the group,

Mind if I come along too? I can fend for m'self, and I have a pack animal to help carry goods and groceries. I want to help y'all in your work, so that this kind of thing that happened to Mrs. Melissa don't happen to no other good folks around there here parts.

Male Kellid Human Barbarian 2 / Rogue (Scout) 2

In responce to Jamison's and Hiram's request.

"I don't see any reason not to let you come along with us. Of course, that depends on what the rest of the group says. Let's go see what they think, shall we?"

Karthas brings the two over to where he sees Harther and Euron talking.

Walking over to the ranger and placing a firm hand on his shoulder, "Handing over the map duties to Euron are you? Plan on drinking a bit too much tonight are you?" Karthas adds with a laugh.

Just now noticing the expression on Harther's face, "What's troubling you friend?"

After hearing Harther's reasons for his expression and his need to leave the group.

"Gods know I understand the demands of family, but is this really what you want to do, friend, or just what you feel you need to do? I have far too much respect for you, Harther, to try and influence your decision on this matter, other than to say make sure this is your decision, not your brother's." Karthas adds with a small grin, "I know far too well that a brother can lead you astray, best intentions or not."

The druid's face hardens with the grim news of Harther's father, but he nods his understanding. "Grim times, I am sorry for your loss."

It looks as if Euron is about to say more, but the weathered man looks out of his element trying to provide comfort to a non-animal and he just stands quietly while Harther continues.

He accepts the wayfinder from the ranger and the group's current map and nods his head. Unrolling the map, he begins to study the progress so far, "I'll do my best to fill your shoes, although I'm unsure my penmanship will be any match."

After spending a little longer talking with Harther about mundane topics to get the man's mind off his duty, Euron rolls up the map and heads towards the main party where the discussion has turned to a visit to the temple of Erastil.

Chuckling, drink in hand, the druid chimes in, "A temple of Dead Eye, eh? Back in my day, we just killed a bandit and muttered a prayer to 'im under the moonlight - we didn't need any temples!"[b] With a guffaw, he stops himself when he notices he's mostly laughing alone, then adds, [b]"But I'd like to see what all this is about, for any part o' The Green Faith is a welcome sight in these parts."

He unrolls the Chartered Six's map, "What say we take a round-about way so I can make Harther proud and fill in some o'these blank spots?"

"Ah, my friend. If only it were that simple," Harther sighs. "You're right. If it were only my decision, I would stay here, exploring the Greenbelt. But it is not that simple. You know that I don't make much of my family's status, but even a minor noble as far down the chain as I bears a duty to his House. I must now shoulder my duty." The ranger smiles ruefully. "As chance would have it, the task my brother has set for me is the same as that which brought about my father's death: overseeing House Medvyed trade caravans through the Stolen Lands to the River Kingdoms."

"My friend, it as been an honor exploring the Greenbelt with you," Harther says, clasping Karthas' forearm. "It has been an honor adventuring with all of you," he adds, raising his flagon to Eseldra, Berenkor, and Tyr. "I'll be passing through from time to time, so I'm sure that our paths will cross again. I'm counting on you to bring safety and order to the Stolen Lands!"

Eseldra's face falls as she hears of Harther's father.

"I grieve with you. I shall be sorry, indeed, to see you go, Harther. The Chartered Six is now the Chartered Four, with a few appendices."

Eseldra gives his shoulder a friendly squeeze, and then heads over to Cinders. Her mouth grimaces as she shoos away the kobold. "Sorry about him. Our little band has a habit of picking up strays as we go and dumping them here at Oleg's. Welcome to the Stolen Lands. What brings you here?"

Eseldra appears to be an elf for all intents and purposes, though her skin is an unusual shade of green. Her features are rather severe and nobody would account her beautiful, despite the provocative looseness of her blouse.

Female Human (Varisian) Oracle 2

Cinders watches the kobold move on, then turns to the newly arrived elf. "No worries," she says. "I have encountered far worse than some spilled ale before. As for what brings me here, I have done a lot of travelling and this is the latest location I have arrived in. It's all been somewhat random. But I grew tired of my most recent...companions--" She spits the word with quite a bit of contempt-- "and so I've been staying here a few days. I have heard something of your group in that time. You seem popular with the locals. My name is Cinders, by the way."

Moonday, Pharast 25

The boisterous party at Oleg's Trading Post winds down in the wee hours of the morning. The patrons who have stayed to the end set up makeshift campsites within the trading post's market yard, taking advantage of the safety provided by the palisade walls.

As the resident heroes, the Chartered Six (minus one) spend a well-deserved restful night within the comfort of Oleg's small guesthouse. They awaken refreshed - albeit a bit hung-over - to a clear yet chill Spring morning. (Although Eseldra is a bit disturbed to discover Mikmek sleeping curled up on the floor at the foot of her bed!)

The mouthwatering aroma of a hearty breakfast being prepared by Svetlana greets the companions as they exit the guesthouse. The raven-haired mistress of the trading post smiles at them in greeting as she serves the few remaining patrons from the night before who haven't yet left to return to their occupations. Across the yard near the storage pen they see Oleg, already conducting business with a couple of newly-arrived traders. Gilbert and Mik are busy doing various chores around the post.

I assume that you all would like to take a day or two off from exploration to rest a bit, give Eseldra a chance to scribe some scrolls, and purchase supplies to take to Rani. Feel free to RP a bit more, but we can also take care of things OOC if you're itching to get back out in the field.

Male Human (Varisian/Ulfen) Druid 3

Having actually left the trading post to take up a sleeping spot on a low hill a stone's throw away, Euron, as always, wakes to sunrise, finding Niko draped across both of his legs.

Shaking some feeling into his legs, he sits up, reassured to hear his bones crack and speak tales of travels nearly forgotten but pleasantly remembered.

Spotting the wolf, attentive and alert, he sniffs the air and nods. "Ah friend, ye know me too well, smells like cooking much better than I ever manage, eh?"

Strapping on his pack, he unties the elk and leads the motley band of animals to Oleg's front gate, where he once again is amazed to see someone who wakes even earlier in the morning. With a curt nod, and a grin well-hidden behind unkempt beard, Euron compliments the old trader on his wife's fine talents and makes his way to a table to hopefully have first pick at whatever Svetlana brings out.

Male Human Paladin: 2

Hiram walks out of the guesthouse as Euron makes his way in, rubbing his eyes, and tying back his hair. Though sleepy, he seems ready to work.

Mornin' Sir! I was meanin' to speak with you last night, but I just plum forgot by the end of the evenin'. I need to tend to my mules, but may I eat breakfast with you once I am done?

Matti and Gerti don't like me waitin' too long in the mornin' for a good brush down, water and some goodies, and you have a magnificent elk there, and...wolf too I 'spose. I would gladly trade tendin' those animals for some company and stories!

Male Human Cleric 2

Jamison rises early, having slept in his bedroll outside. He begins mingling with the soldiers and tending to some of the animals in camp. As he sees Hiram emerge from the guesthouse, he approaches.

Mornin', Hiram - Good tuh see yer still up with th' sun - and a pleasure t' meet 'cha, Goodman...? his voice trails up at the end, as though asking a question. He extends his hand firmly to the woodsman seated near Hiram. Ah'm Jamison Walker, follower o' Ol' Deadeye. The mountainous man sits next to Euron, the bench creaking under his girth.
