DM Skull's Kingmaker

Game Master Shady_Motives

Chartered by the nobility of Brevoy to explore and conquer the Stolen Lands, will you establish yourself as a new world power or fade into obscurity?

No. You would only get the Rogue side.

Ok thanks wasn't thinking in short terms

Kingmaker + Gestalt seems like a perfect match!

I would be interested in playing something like a human noble fighter/bard. Archetypes (if any) to be determined.

Here are a few rolls...

Set 1:

3d6 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5) - 2 + 6 = 16
6d6 - 3 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1, 2, 5, 5) - 3 - 2 + 6 = 16
4d6 - 1 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 2) - 1 - 2 + 6 = 11
4d6 - 1 - 4 + 6 ⇒ (1, 4, 5, 6) - 1 - 4 + 6 = 17
4d6 - 1 - 3 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5, 1, 4) - 1 - 3 + 6 = 15
18, 16, 16, 11, 17, 15

Set 2:

3d6 - 4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4) - 4 + 6 = 16
3d6 - 4 + 6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4) - 4 + 6 = 16
5d6 - 2 - 4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 1, 4) - 2 - 4 + 6 = 16
6d6 - 3 - 3 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3, 4, 1, 3) - 3 - 3 + 6 = 13
3d6 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6) - 2 + 6 = 18
18, 16, 16, 16, 13, 18

Set 3:

3d6 - 3 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4) - 3 + 6 = 14
8d6 - 5 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 4, 1, 1, 1, 4) - 5 - 2 + 6 = 14
3d6 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5) - 2 + 6 = 17
3d6 - 4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6, 5) - 4 + 6 = 17
3d6 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4) - 2 + 6 = 15
18, 14, 14, 17, 17, 15

Set 4:

3d6 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2) - 2 + 6 = 12
3d6 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (4, 2, 5) - 2 + 6 = 15
4d6 - 1 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 2) - 1 - 2 + 6 = 12
3d6 - 3 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6) - 3 + 6 = 17
4d6 - 1 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (5, 2, 1, 5) - 1 - 2 + 6 = 16
18, 12, 15, 12, 17, 16

Set 5:

3d6 - 2 + 6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6) - 2 + 6 = 18
3d6 - 5 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5) - 5 + 6 = 17
4d6 - 1 - 3 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3, 1, 5) - 1 - 3 + 6 = 17
3d6 - 4 + 6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6) - 4 + 6 = 18
3d6 - 3 + 6 ⇒ (6, 3, 3) - 3 + 6 = 15
18, 18, 17, 17, 18, 15

Set 5 looks like a keeper to me!

Thread blew up a bit since yesterday.

I submit Galendir for the task ahead. Noble Knight of Brevoy wishing to follow in the footsteps of the Sword Lords. He hopes to aid in the bandit removal and use his skills in Cartography to map out the area.

As a player I'm quite active posting daily on the boards. Have been in many games. The 6 going now are all pretty long running with the longest at over 4 years I think. So I'm not going anywhere. Thanks for the consideration.

I have a crazy idea for a fighter/Druid (with one level dip in ranger)
But it depends on one question

Would you allow me to treat one creature as both my familiar and my animal companion

set one:
3d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 1, 5) + 5 = 13
3d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 2, 5) + 4 = 17
3d6 + 5 ⇒ (1, 3, 4) + 5 = 13
3d6 + 5 ⇒ (1, 6, 6) + 5 = 18
3d6 + 5 ⇒ (2, 1, 6) + 5 = 14

That'd be
Str 18
Dex 13
Con 17
Int 14
Wis 18
Cha 13
Good, but not the superpower possible here

set two:

3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) = 4
3d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 6) = 10
3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 4) = 12
3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 3) = 8
3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2) = 12
Pass

set 3:

3d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 4, 2) + 4 = 16
3d6 + 5 ⇒ (1, 3, 6) + 5 = 15
3d6 + 3 ⇒ (6, 3, 4) + 3 = 16
3d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 2, 2) + 4 = 14
3d6 + 5 ⇒ (5, 1, 6) + 5 = 17
So
Str 17
Dex 16
Con 16
Int 15
Wis 18
Cha 14

Very nice

set 4:

3d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 2) = 12
3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 3) = 14
3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1) = 9
3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1) = 8
3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 5) = 11

Okay, here is my submission of Anders Orlovsky, knight of House Orlovsky, defender of the common people, and gifted with the divine. Mechanically, he's a Cavalier (Order of the Shield)/Oracle with the Metal Master and the Haunted Curse.

Let me know if I've built everything correctly to your specifications. If I need to fix anything, I'll happily do so.

I do like rolling stats!

Set one:

18
3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5) = 14=5+5+6=16
3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 1) = 3
3d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 3) = 11=4+4+6=14
3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 1) = 6
3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3) = 11=5+3+6=14

*snort* terrible start, triple snake eyes but
rerolls

3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 4) = 10
2d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11=6+5+6=17

Reroll again
1d6 ⇒ 2=5+4+6=15

So that's
18
16
15
17
14
14

S'alirght

Set Two:

18
3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1) = 8
3d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 3) = 8
3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3) = 8
3d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 6) = 13
3d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 1) = 9

The heck... is going on? I'm not even going to bother

Set Three:

18
3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3) = 5
3d6 ⇒ (1, 2, 3) = 6
3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3) = 10
3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 3) = 7
3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5) = 11
Wooo, no.

Set Four:

18
3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 6) = 11 6+3+6=15
3d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 1) = 12
3d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 6) = 12 6+4+6 = 16
3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2) = 9
3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) = 5

Hrmm.
1d6 ⇒ 5 6+6+6=18
1d6 ⇒ 66+6+6=18
2d6 ⇒ (2, 6) = 86+3+6=15

Which makes
18
15
16
18
18
15
I'll take it!

I'll build a Ranger/Investigator With Set 4 please! Hopefully will have some time to do it Monday. Should be good with switch hitting and stealth and skill utility.

I can tell this is going to be one heck of a competitive selection process. Good luck all!

Forgot to re-roll 1

Is there a title that is granted to the son of a lord? I'm envisioning my character as the son of Lord Gurev Medyed. While their home resides within the fortress of Stoneclimb, he has spent most of his life outside the walls within the various communities and wilderness that make up the lands that his father resides over. It is through his father that he developed his strong ideals of take only what you need, help those in need, and endurance overcomes all.

Mechanically speaking I envision the character being a falconer trapper ranger on one side and a warpriest of Erastl on the other. The falcon was a gift from his father to help aid in his hunts while showing his noble pedigree. His knowledge of traps comes from the laying of his own along with the dismantling of those laid by poachers that have chosen to take from lands not their own. It is those very poachers that have made humans his first favored enemy as well. Warpriest is a direct result of his dedication to nature and his people.

It is the dedication that he feels towards his people that has driven him to take up this opportunity to explore the Greenbelt. There he hopes to find new opportunities for his people, even if he is not currently sure what those exact opportunities may be. When asked, he will not deny his excitement at traveling lands foreign to him and most of the world.

I would also like to inquire into the additional feats you mentioned may be rewarded throughout the adventure. You currently have one listed to be granted at level 1, is this something that we should build into our character now or is this something that you plan to potentially give out during early gameplay?

In regards to crafting, would a character with a feat like improvisation be allowed to use craft skills that they do not possess ranks in?

Your family motto is “Endurance Overcomes All.”

Here's the beneficial trait not sure about the title maybe just call yourself 'lord'

My theory: We get teamwork feats for good roleplaying and teamwork

Animal companion done :)
Character coming up

What I've determined so far is a Human Investigator/Inquisitor of Abadar, with Social Ties replacing Skilled. His campaign trait is Noble born.

He is venturing here to spread civilisation, trade, and stability to the region. He uses his investigative abilities to find the truth about people which complement his work as an Inquisitor.

He is generous, reasonable, and loyal but has no patience for deceivers or enemies of his dogma, which is why his spells focus on 'extracting' information rather than survival, as he grew up in the city.

His build is coming along. Shouldn't be long before he is up.

He does need a first name though XD

There are a lot of nobles going into the wilderness this Kingmaker

There are, surprisingly. Due to the background and this kobold being gold scaled, I felt being Noble Born was a good trait to go with, getting me that +2 diplo for Fey's seems fitting with a Kobold as well. Nothing else really fit, except Sword Scion, but with the Feat Tax, it seems like a silly choice early game for me (since I'm dealing with a Young Template in the early levels).

Possible team names for whoever gets in:
1. Hunters of ?
2. ? And ?
3. ? of the ?
Replace the ? with Names and your good to go

I think it says a lot about the quality of my social life that how I spend a Friday evening is by rolling dice. But, the GM said we could roll up to 50 times, so I'm taking him up on that.

So, in the end I'm going with Set 41 (18, 18, 18, 16, 15, 15). Because I can, really. And because it's the only viable Invested Regent Monk stat array (joking, not sure if I'll actually go that route).

You went all 50? 0.0
Congratulations free gold peice (seriously my character will give you a free gold piece if we both get picked)

Could everybody please get the Bonded mind Teamwork feat if you have a spare feat. That way anybody who gets picked can as a party communicate nonverbally.

Just another bit of food for thought.

After much consideration and deliberation, I have decided to pull back a little bit on the heavy healing aspect to allow myself to be a bit more of a ranged attacker/debuffer.

That being said I will still have a pretty good heal skill and cure spells if needed, but if anyone wanted to be a strong healer, or even a decent off-healer, do not feel like you are stepping on anyone's toes. I can try to create potions of cure when I get the time and some ingredients, and become more of a off-healer, rather than a primary one.

DM Skull:
This is Peet again.

DM Skull wrote:
@Peet: They DO get darkvision, it's simply a misprint in the sulis entry. Darkvision is listed at the bottom of their RP break down. And I am changing the elemental assault so so that it's x/day per 3 levels. Now it's 4. Sulis stands at 16 RP.

Hey, if you want to give extra stuff to Sulis, that's cool. I take it then that this means you are okay with me playing a Suli.

I don't think it's a misprint though. Sulis first appeared in Bestiary 3, then the Advanced Race Guide, and then Inner Sea Races. In all three entries they don't have darkvision, only low-light. So I think the misprint is probably the RP calculation in the race builder section.

I was planning to take the "Earthfoot" alternate race trait so I can only do the acid damage and only have acid resistance. I also was going to take the "Mostly Human" trait so I also count as human (and am no longer immune to x-person spells). Technically that drops my RP down a bit.

So: I was hoping to take some earth-themed abilities instead, like maybe stonecunning, and possibly a point of natural armor (which could replace acid resistance if necessary, much like with the Oread "granite skin" alternate ability).

DM Skull wrote:
Yes the healing changes also apply to channel energy and lay on hands.

I suspect this may end up being a rather lethal campaign for you to add that rule?

I am curious whether you think the party needs more healing? You said the witch has a lot of healing. I originally conceived of the character as a life oracle with tons of healing (channels plus spells). But if you think that is not needed I could switch to the metal mystery, which fits with Gorum and also with my earth-aligned racial abilities.

You can train your own horse but in that case it is a young heavy horse and you are just starting it's training. It doesn't know anything.

By this do you mean the young template? A horse with the young template is a small creature and thus not ride-able by a medium humanoid. Or did you just mean inexperienced?

Does it start with the tricks known by a horse trained for riding (which is standard when you buy a horse) or no tricks at all?

Geez. I got bored after 3.

Well, you have my interest.
A pretty extensive set of homerules -a set I can get behind-.

I will roll two sets and choose one of them. While I could keep rolling until a perfect 6x18, your rolling rules are already forgiving and I feel lucky.

Set #1:

Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 4, 6) = 16
18
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3) = 5
Reroll 1s: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 6) = 11
17
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2) = 7
11
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) = 11
Reroll 1s: 1d6 ⇒ 2
16
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 1) = 7
Reroll 1s: 1d6 ⇒ 5
14

18-18-17-16-14-11
A great one, let's see if Set #2 keeps up with the pace.

Set#2:

Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 2) = 11
15
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 6) = 14
17
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 6) = 13
17
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3) = 14
17
Stats: 3d6 ⇒ (6, 6, 5) = 17
18

18-18-17-17-17-15.

And this is fricking awesome. I could build a multiclass Cleric Monk//Paladin/Wizard and still have the stats to spare.

I will think over it and return to you with a concept that hopefully is up to these stats.

Ancient Dragon Master,

I was definitely planning on taking the Noble Born trait as this character's campaign trait along with Rich Parents to round out the number of traits to two. In regards to the title, I don't believe the title of Lord is passed on to the children or at least while the current lord still lives. Seeing as his father is an accomplished warrior and this particular character is rather fond of the community he calls his own, I doubt the title will be passed any time soon. I was unsure if there was a title to given to the children of a lord beyond that potential course though.

DM Skull,

So as not to assume, would the Ranger's Combat Style feats be considered too similar to the bonus Combat feats granted by the Warpriest to gain the benefits of both? If so, I totally understand. I simply don't wish to assume something to find out I assumed wrong.

Also, what is your take on the combination of the feats Overwatch Style, Weapon Trick (Ranged - Hindering Shot and Suppressing Shot), and Divine Fighting Technique (Erastil's Drastracting Shot), would you be able to use Overwatch Style to ready the various abilities of the other two feats?

If you want to do a healing oracle by all means, since I did step down a bit as main healer to more off-healer.

I saw this post late last night and told myself if the crafting rules weren't something horrible I would give it a go. Turns out they are awesome, so here I am rolling up some stats.

3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 5) = 11
3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 4) = 11=14
3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 1) = 5
3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6) = 13=18
3d6: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 3) = 5

That's a lot of 1's.

1 re-roll: 1d6 ⇒ 1
2 re-roll: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 2) = 7
3 re-roll: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 5) = 9

Another reroll: 1d6 ⇒ 5

final stats: 16,14,14,18,15,18

I think I will stick with this now on to character creation.

Now I'm not the DM, but looking at it, I myself don't see any reason why you cant ready your attacks using the overwatch with various other abilities. I think it would be like readying an attack with power attack, or precise shot. But that's just me :)

A few questions:

1. Will you be using Optional Leadership Role Skills (Ultimate Campaign) or Abilities only, as per the Kingmaker Player’s Guide?
2. In our character description, would you like us to specify which leadership role we plan to vie for?
2. Can flaws be taken to allow for additional traits?

Thanks!

@ Adrian: I may do that. Mind you, even without the life mystery a good oracle has lots of healing via spells.

I was looking at Rosasaia's character sheet but I can't seem to find your 1st level Hex. Did you take the Healing hex?

@ Layith: I decided to take the Cauldron Hex since I knew that either way I would be making potions.

Ok so here is Ancient dragon masters character. Character feedback would be appreciated; Animal companion is in a separate alias (link in this alias)

@GM skull Can I train my deinonychus with handle animal?

Congratulations free gold peice (seriously my character will give you a free gold piece if we both get picked)
Geez. I got bored after 3.

What I did was I rolled 5-6 sets of 100d6 to determine the order, copy/pasted it into a word document, and formatted my post to account for the rolls, the rerolls, and which I would go for. Then, when it came time to actually write out the post, I could write the entire thing out without needing endless previews.

But yes, it did take a while. Thank you for the gp. I appreciate it.

In any case, I'm thinking I might go for a 'knowledge is power' type build, with a Investigator//(something Int-based). If I put one of my 18s in Con, another in Int, and the last one in Dex, I can serve as a frontliner skill monkey with serious staying power and possibly even magical backup.

I'm surprised you didn't get 6 18s Daedalus

Ah, that only has roughly a 1/120 chance of happening (1/24 chance to get 2 6s, then five times in a row....). So, over 50 rolls, I had a little under a 50-50 chance of it occurring.

Feedback?

Just incase anyone missed it, the DM wont be back online till sunday night.

I'm looking at your character now @Ancient Dragon Master. If I have any thoughts I'll definitely let you know :)

EDIT: Daedalus, that build idea you have would probably really mesh well with Vetra in the front lines.

For simplicity, rolling extra for each stat, ignoring everything after the first three non-1s on every line.

rolls:

7d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 1, 1, 4, 3) = 21
7d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 4, 2, 1, 5, 2) = 25
7d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 6, 3, 3, 1) = 24
7d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 6, 6, 4, 4, 1) = 30
7d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 1, 4, 1, 6, 6) = 28

7d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 2) = 22
7d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 6, 2, 1, 5, 4) = 21
7d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 1, 1, 5, 2) = 19
7d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 4, 6, 4, 5, 2) = 28
7d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 1, 3, 5, 3) = 19

7d6 ⇒ (6, 3, 6, 2, 3, 3, 6) = 29 18
7d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 5, 4, 1, 6, 3) = 26 17
7d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 1, 6, 6, 3, 1) = 24 17
7d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 4, 3, 1, 6, 5) = 23 13
7d6 ⇒ (3, 6, 6, 2, 4, 4, 1) = 26 18

Using Daedalus' method, I rolled these... actually rolled 100 because for some reason I thought that we could do that.

5 hours of my life... because I stuffed the numbers up once, but it was well past the 50 mark T.T

I've always wanted to play Kingmaker but I've never done gestalt. (Gestalt sounds a little complicated.)

I'm considering a Human Barbarian/Bard. I'll post again after thinking about a personality and backstory.

I like high powered games so start off thus; start off with 1 auto 18. Roll 3d6, reroll 1's, drop the lowest dice and add 6. Do that 5 times and you have a set. @Daedalus Magus or Alchemist (Vivisectionist) would probably work best
Alchemist is vivisectionist because Bombs won't work well with a melee build and sneak attack is always good
Magus because it's the only other class that will work
Arcanists or wizards have Spell failure
If this thought had already crossed your mind please ignore this post

By proof of concept, you just want a general outline of character? Included are some of my thoughts about my build.

** spoiler omitted **...

I think he meant roll on the[url=http://www.d20pfsrd.com/races/other-races/featured-races/arg-aasimar#TOC-Variant-Abilities-and-Physical-Features]Table on the left (Variant abilities) instead of the right (Physical features) because that is the one you give up your spell like ability for

47=You feel sick to your stomach and take a –1 penalty on ability checks when within 30 feet of an evil Outsider.

(good and bad The good You have a automatic evil detection system The bad You are bad at fighting evil outsiders)

Vinsomner = Vetra Nemrax - The Fighter / Magus, one of the existing players :)

Shadow Lodge

If I can stack familiar and animal companion on the same creature I'll go eldritch guardian fighter/Druid
If not I'll go Dragoon fighter/hunter

I'll just build both and let the DM decide which I can take :)

@Vetra Why the dwarves rations? That's a lot of money for food
