Hello :D

I'd like to fill your role as a scout and trap spotter with a archaeologist bard. Using Chance Encounter.

If that is something you think is acceptable for the campaign I'll have a character concept up shortly.

@ Nemroider - That is fine with me, how and why are they in Kenabres right now and what happened with them when the Storm lord attacked?

@Oyzar - So the feat basically allows you to take an extra level of spell casting on those levels of a Prestige class that doesn't offer them. Makes sense to me.

can I key the counterport abilities of intelligence rather than charisma (like is done for the Planar Channel ability)?

Did you mean "to" instead of "of?" Counter port looks like it has no upper limit unlike Planar Channel does. The Limit would be on the amount of Conjuartion spells you have and the level. Unless I am miss understanding.

My life has calmed down and I am regularly and readily available if desired.

I fully understand if not.

With Wild Arcana having been errata’d to a standard action, would you allow it to work with the Magus’s Spell Combat and Spellstrike features in place of normal casting? IE, can I use Wild Arcana spend Mythic power to cast, say, Mythic Shocking Grasp, then full attack? If so I might submit a Magus. If not I’ll look at possibly a melee Sorcerer (Draconic Blood going into Dragon Disciple).

@DM:

Because of the launch of the fifth mendevian crusade after a strong attack by a demon army.

When the balor attacked, the party got saved by the silver dragon guardian of the city. The dragon died at the hands of the Storm King.

Seems like your rogue has returned. But feel free to contact me if you should need a trap spotter in the future :D

Reality is they might not want me back at this point.

I want to make no assumptions and do not want to prevent them from picking someone else if the group would rather.

---

I don't remember doing it, but it appears I reworked thee character slightly at some point. Lost the drawback (which is really the core of the background) and put HP at max with the 25 point build.

At a quick glance, I don't see where I EVER rolled HP, though I do see where I clearly identified I chose the 25 point build. Hunh.

Both can be fixed again.

I'm not a native English speaker, so I'm not sure which is the correct preposition, but you're probably right. What I mean is to use intelligence instead of charisma for that part. I don't understand why sorcerers or oracles would get to use their main ability modifier while wizards can't.

I assume planar purge got a limit because it doesn't offer a save. Abilities with saves are naturally more resisted by higher level opponents, but this doesn't give one.

I see you are talking about Improved Counter Port for the Charisma addition. I would say maybe half your Intelligence since that will be your main stat and will be higher than your Chrisma.

@ Terry you are welcome back, I just put up the job posting because
I wasn't sure if you were ready and able again.

@ Nemroider is there something else you want to try? Submit your character and I will see how we could try to work it in.

@ Ouachironian - It looks like it should work out that way yes.

Welcome back! And look forward to seeing what builds you two come up with.

Will say that another person in the front line would be useful.

1x Front line (Paladin)
2x Ranged (Hunter/Rogue)
1x Arcane
1x Divine

A sixth memeber who can also hold the line? From a celestial bloodrager, to a demon hunting ranger to a sarkosis barbarian, there are a lot of good options for this ap

Alright, I will look into it and get something done by tonight.

At the moment I'm looking at creating a Siegebreaker Fighter, so more or less as front line as one can get.

Background - start:
She'd be a Qlippoth spawn tiefling, the daughter of two cultists of the demon hating Qlippoth lord Chavazvug who botched a summoning ritual which resulted in her father's death and the tainting of their unborn child.
As mother died during child birth, as is common for a Motherless (qlippoth spawn), she grew up in an orphanage. There she was shunned by the other children for looking and smelling weird.
As a teen she joined up with some Gorumites who came to fight demons in glorious battle as they didn't care about what she was as long as she didn't hold them back. When their squad got ambushed she was the only one kept alive, probably because the demons or cultists liked the idea of turning someone touched by the Qlippoth, some of the demons oldest and fiercest enemies, to their side. The ritual they used to do so backfired as she absorbed the rituals energy and the proceeded to spew forth some minor qlippoth. She then escaped in the confusion this caused.

Well here's my submission. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Lissla Altar:
Lissla is a woman with light brown hair and eyes, and a head shorter than most other women with angular features that would almost make her appear to be a short elf. She has small scars consisting of burns and scratches on her hands.

Lissla was raised by her aunt and uncle, her godparents really (a sickly dwarf and a crusader missing her left arm and leg), and grew up on their stories. From her uncle she hear stories of what the land was like before the Worldwound, and from her aunt she heard stories of the grueling wartime exhaustion of the Fourth Crusade. And from both of them she heard tales of her parents, Riftwardens fighting against the demons of the Worldwound.

No one knows of her parents’ fate however, disappearing a month after her own birth. Lissla does not dare hope that they are alive, knowing that the Worldwound and the demons who inhabited it take all without mercy. But she knows, in her heart, that whoever is responsible for her parents’ disappearance is still alive, and that they're destined to meet one day.

Growing up on stories of righteous crusaders and her Riftwarden parents left her confused for most of her childhood, unsure of what she wanted to be growing up. Lissla wanted to go in and lead charges against the demons and fight for righteousness in the crusades, but she could feel arcane power coursing through her veins and had heard tales of what her parents had done before their disappearance. As she grew out of her youth she decided to use both, wield a sword in one hand and magic in the other and started experimenting with such forms of combat. The results of many of these experiments can still be seen on her hands, but she kept practicing and eventually started to strike a balance between the arcane forces that she wielded and the material equipment that she carried with her.

OK. Thank you for the consideration, but I think I am not able to come up with a sufficiently satisfying character concept I would like to play in this campaign right now. But I wish you happy gaming :D

I'm going to go with the 25 PB and risk it. Are we doing a drawback for an extra trait?

1d8 ⇒ 6
1d8 ⇒ 7

Sovereign Court

Hey, I was going to make an arcane caster for this, but now I see one of your party is saying you need a frontline instead? Which is accurate? What should I be looking at building?

Need 1 arcane
Could also use 1 who can help me hold the front lines...but that’s just my wishlist

Ok, I wiped an old unused alias and built a new character into it.

Role: Jocasta is an armored battlemage, so she does front-line combat and arcane support. She has decent armor (but no shield) and is a Dex fighter so her damage comes from spell combat, but she has a reasonable AC (not super-great but tolerable) and a good hit rate. As she gains expanded spell knowledge she will branch into utility magic from the wizard list.
Because of her hatred of demons and cultists, Jocasta has invested in a cold iron weapon, and she learned the Abyssal language so that she could understand them and their writings whenever she uncovers them.

Characterization: Jocasta is late to the adventuring life, as she was adopted at a very young age, raised in a prosperous farm family, and married the boy next door. A few years ago her husband was killed and she was stricken with grief. She gave up many of her possessions and went into Kenabres to study as a crusader - partly to get vengeance against those who killed her husband, partly because of a death wish of her own. She is more "even keel" now, but still committed to doling out destruction to demons and cultists, while protecting people like her own family from tragedy.
Interactions with the party:
* KHAZ: She would greatly respect his dedication and his faith.
* FIRINN: She would initially be shocked by the brand on his face, but quickly realize that she is judging him by external factors. She would come to consider him an invaluable companion.
* LORENA: She would be very distrustful at first, but would eventually be won over by Lorena's magnetic personality and hope that she can rise above the circumstances of her birth.
* TERRY THE THIEF: She would see Terry as a youngster in need of guidance and take a somewhat motherly role.

About me: I'm a regular player and I run several games on the boards, so I generally check in daily and if I'm gone for several days I give notice (I sometimes go on camping trips on weekends). I like strong roleplay and I commit to long-term campaigns. I am not a huge min-maxer but I try to make sure that my characters can contribute well, and I am willing to face tough challenges, take character hits on the chin, and keep going. I don't like intra-party fighting and I believe in compromising and collaborating so that everyone has a good time.

Questions for the DM: Where is the party right now? Should I have a horse and supplies for overland travel? Would this character likely know anyone in the party already?

I'm still filling out my gear listing (the starting gp gets me mostly masterwork stuff, hard to squeeze in any magic yet!).

I forgot to mention! I am totally flexible and can happily make a wizard, sorcerer, arcanist, or psychic if that's preferable.

An armored battleage, well played! And someone who respects Khaz? Finally! ;)

HP roll: 2d8 ⇒ (5, 5) = 10 Okay, half+1 it is. By roll.

Restored the Drawback, added a missing Trait (grabbed the one in the original write-up submission for the character from before this game was advertised) and adjusted the HP.

Let me know if I've screwed anything up, or if there's an adjustment you need me to make.

I'm actually unreasonably excited about the possibility of this campaign. Can't place why, but it seems like fun!

So I thought this recruitment thread looked kind of familiar, so I decided to go over it when I had the time. Turns out I actually applied for this game previously with the same character no less. The only difference is I didn’t apply the crunch this time and I change the character’s name (I don't actually know why I did, the original name was fine) so if I need to reapply crunch for my application to be considered “complete” I can do that easily.

I was also an applicant in the original recruitment! I applied with a psychic paladin, but with Khaz in the party that would've been redundant. I think I like this character better anyway!

I actually have an idea for a Champion of Irori (Monk (Unchained) / Paladin (tbd) ).

Ferias:

Personality:
For the most part, an outgoing and friendly young man, Ferias sometimes lapses into a seriously introverted and grumpy mood. The lapse usually occurs when he has failed at something he believed he could do well. At that point, Ferias has to step away and force himself to indulge in social interactions. This tends to shake him out of whatever mood he is in and has him quickly back to his jovial self.

Appearance:
A tall young man with short black hair and brown eyes that sparkle with humor, Ferias carries himself with head high, and his soft brown leathers he wears well kept.

CHARACTER BACKGROUND
When your nine years old, the child of two Crusaders, and living in Kenabres, along with many other children of crusaders, you feel that every day is a day of excitement. Even though war is going on all around you, usually you don't understand how easy it is to suddenly be a victim of the war with the forces of the Worldwound unless you experience it firsthand. That’s how it was for Ferias. His mother was a Paladin of Irori, and his father a “Witch Hunter” in the name of Iomedae. When they had duties that called them to the front, they would leave Ferias in the care of his grandmother who served as a nanny for a large group of children. This worked out well, as the children were well cared for. That is until the day the shadowy figures came. They spoke with Ferias’ grandmother and she smiled a vicious smile as she let them take the children, one after the other.

All Ferias remembers of the next two weeks is screaming, blood, howling and heat. While he saw several of his friends be sacrificed over the course of time, when it came time for the cultists to offer him to their dark demons his and the remaining children’s lives were spared by the arrival of Ferias’s father alongside several other hunters. The hunters eliminated the cultists, but fearing their influence might still be unknown over the children, made arrangements for them to be taken in in other locales. For Ferias, he was sent to the Houses of Perfection in Jalmeray, where his mother had spent time training.

For the next decade, Ferias was cut off from all that he had known, orphaned in all but theory. For over a year after being sent to Jalmeray, he survived on his own, unknowingly under the eye of House members. Once he had proven he had the will and capability to survive, a master was assigned to guide him on the path of knowledge and perfection. After more time serving the House, he began to have what he could only term encounters in his dreams with a large dour Stone Giant accompanied by an intelligent white tiger who glowed with a celestial aura. They began to appear on the edges of his dreams when he would dream of being home in Kenebres and overlooking the Worldwound, dreaming of it conquering the city, obliterating it with his grandmother leading the battle. He would awaken, screaming and sweating at first, but as time went by, the giant and tiger would be closer and closer to him and his fear and panic grew less and less.

Ten years to the day of his entry into the houses, he had the dream that made him leave and return home. In this dream, he saw his mother approached by his father, only his father had a shadowed visage, one that combined his father, the giant and the tiger. After their coupling in the dream, he watched what he knew was his own birth, only his own face was now shadowed by the figures. When he told his master of this, his master told him it was clear that Irori himself had hand in Ferias’ conception and birth. Because he had been born in Kenabres itself that that was where he would find his destiny. And so, gathering up his things, Ferias began his journey home, joining the bands of crusader hopefuls flooding the city. Once there, he found his childhood home a burned out shell and that his possessed grandmother had killed his father and fled the city years ago.

Now, he searches for a way to prove his dream of being Irori’s Champion a reality by becoming a Crusader himself (even though a part of him is unsure he is up to the task).

I actually have another idea for this game, which I think is fun but it comes with a question: Would you a the Duskwalker race from Planar Adventures?
They are an Aasimar and Tiefling equivalent but with ties to the Boneyard.

The idea behind it is a different twist on the Stolen Fury trait. The character was a higher level cleric of Pharasma who worked in the Worldwound in hopes of saving souls from consumption by demons or the soul trade. They ended up getting caught and, as a cruel joke, the cultists and demons decided they'd turn the character into a demons. The ritual failed, as per the trait, but that was because the character perished.
However, it was given one more chance to continue it's important work for the Boneyard and was reincarnated as a Duskwalker and appeared in the Kenabres graveyard. While this was a completely fresh start for the soul it was still plagued with nightmares from the moment of the end of it's previous life (though it took the character quite a while to figure out they were looking at themselves dying).
Simply put, some small part of the energy of the Abyss has latched on to the character's soul as a result of the ritual that killed it before.

@ Cuan that seems like an interesting idea to me.

@ everyone sorry I was absent this weekend, I will go through submissions tonight and get back to people tomorrow about what I like and don't like and if there are any changes to be looked at.

Level HP:
2d10 ⇒ (7, 10) = 17

Guess it was a nice time for me to make that roll. :)

Thanks DM Raltus!

Sorry still making note and had a busy day, Will post an Update Thursday as I am off that day.

No stress GM Raltus. Not goin' anywhere. :)

I’ll be going to plenty of places, namely to my bed. But don't worry, I'll be back.

Belated welcome back, Terry!

Currently, said personality is "do what the paladin says". :) But that will change in time.

Khaz Cloudbreaker wrote:

Hey I hold the lines too...from behind you ;)

Wait, that will change? Noooo...Khaz finally found someone who would listen to him!

@Lorena: I was going by your immense Charisma score - obviously your character has a magnetic personality and, given time, could likely overcome any initial distrust. :)

“Since when did Thursday and Friday get switched around on the calendar?” Kobolum asked sarcastically before realizing that the only things that heard him were his dogs and the voices in his head.

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

I have a concept I would like to try if you are still taking applications.
I will post it later when I get home.

Sorry I will honestly get to it tonight, just a busy end of the week.

@Kobolum what is your characters Crunch?

@ Tclegg I like your idea, can I see the Crunch

Traits to Fill

Rift Warden Orphan

Stolen Fury

So here is Irnk's idea.

In a nutshell, ever since first hearing of the Adventure Path, I have thought it would be interesting to play a Sarkorian Refugee, physically corrupted by the Abyssal energies coursing through their lost homeland, but driven to return every wound inflicted back upon their Demonic oppressors. The original idea had been to play a Druid, but when People of the Wastes came out, the Elysiokinetist Archetype was just too on-the-nose not to give a try.

I have not yet updated my gear to the 3000 gold for wealth by level, but otherwise, I am good to go.

I think.

Kinetists are sorta Arcane?

I really need to read that book.

@Brud, Son of.... Brud? Interesting build, I like the idea, so what is his story?

Interesting, so no Rapier for crit fishing. I like the Idea. are you taking an Archetype for the Magus? Also you don't have to roll for first level

DM Raltus wrote:

I considered Armored Battlemage, Bladebound, Mindblade, and Myrmidarch, but I decided to go for a regular magus.

Any questions/comments for me, @DM Raltus?

@ Jocasta - Your Profile and what you posted don't quite a line in the back story, unless I missed that your parents were killed in the prolie.

Other than that I like the build and the crunch of why she is doing what she is doing.

Oh, I think I understand the confusion.

The Riftwarden Orphan trait specifies you were raised by a foster family in Kenabres. So, Jocasta's biological Riftwarden parents died when she was very young, she was taken in (likely by a good church like Sarenrae or Iomedae) and eventually placed in fosterage as a very young girl with a prosperous farming/mercantile family, who raised her as their own. She grew up working on the farm and helping with the business; married the Shoanti man next door; had a farm of her own; then her husband was killed suddenly and she drifted into shock and depression, only climbing out of it as she committed herself to becoming a crusader for the church of Iomedae. When the invasion struck she was already champing at the bit for a chance to use her new talents and she would've probably set off with another band of crusaders if the city hadn't fallen before she had a chance to do so.

I'll update the background section to be clearer.

Traits to Fill

Rift Warden Orphan
-Jocasta
-Lissla Altar
-Ferias - No Cunch - Story Good

Stolen Fury
-Brud
- Cuàn - No name or Crunch only a rough Idea.

@Jocasta That is fine I just want it to make some sense and be tied to the campaign trait.

I'm still working on the crunch.

What I'm looking at now is a Duskwalker Shifter using the Adaptable Shifter archetype. In her previous life she was a Druid devoted to Pharasma and dedicated to preserving the cycle of life and death and was a part of an elite group that hunted those involved in the trafficking, corruption and/or destruction of souls. The group bit off more than they could chew and was routed.
My character's old self ended up the target of a corruption ritual which failed as she more or less willed herself to die due to the strain of the ritual rather than be corrupted. As a reward for her devotion she was given a second chance to fulfil her goals.
However there were some unintended side effects as the ritual partially succeeded and had caused some Abyssal essence to latch on to her soul, causing it to become tainted and distorted. The most obvious result of this is the loss of her strong connection to the natural world, of which only a shred remains. Instead she now shares the mutability and malleability of the Abyssal realm. Because of this her psychopomp benefactors have sent a young Nosoi to monitor how she's doing and make sure she doesn't stray (done through the Personal Chronicler feat).

Her name will be Takaraa, not sure whether she'd have a last name as of yet. She grew up with a Kenabres foster family (which could tie her to the Riftwarden Orphan character), though her growing up itself happened very quickly. She reappeared on the material plane appearing like an 8-year old but the Abyssal taint on her soul caused her to mature weirdly. While on average it went at the similar pace to a human child it all went in bursts with long breaks of hardly any growth or maturation in between. Then suddenly she'd age what should be years in a matter of days.

@Brud, Son of.... Brud? Interesting build, I like the idea, so what is his story?

Given the peculiarities of the Elysiokinetisist Archetype, I'm almost an odd arcane/divine melange. In general however, the simplest way to think of it as having limited number of supernatural abilities similar to spell-like abilities, powered by my own life-force rather than 'spells' per-se.

Brud's 'story', TLDR version:
"I am of the Green Faith, as were my parents & their parents before them. For generations, we stood in fief to Blackearth. We heard the songs of the seasons; Winter to Spring, Spring to Summer, Summer to Autumn, Autumn turning once more to Winter, years without end."
"'Til finally the seasons did end. When a vast demonic locust plague descended, as a cloud over Proud Sarkoris. The Green wept, and her cries were as the earth itself trembling. Her children were driven forth from their homes. Those who stood, fell. Those who fought, fell. Only those who fled, as bleating lambs from the slaughter, survived."
"Weep for Proud Sarkoris, for the Green's Champion is but a pale shadow of the Stalwart that once did stride from Horizon to Horizon."
"Ask me not the legends of our people, for before I was of an age to be taught them, my parents were cleaved from me. Mendevs came, garbed as crusaders, but slavish thralls to another, darker, master. In me they saw both that taint of the Abyss, though it had not yet grown quite so plain as now, and the puissance of the Blackearth line. When my parents would not give me up, they were slain before mine own eyes."
"Foolish Mendevs, for the blood of Blackearth is strong. By the will of the Green, their ritual failed. In it's failure, a great rage came upon me, the rage of fallen Sarkoris itself. My bindings shattered and once again a child of Sarkoris strode stalwart from Horizon to Horizon"
"For a time."
"All things have a price, Mendev. To serve Sarkoris, to bring vengeance to the vermin which have brought her low, I accept the stigma of my flesh. For in so doing, I make myself a vessel to answer all the ills that have plagued us. Every wrong will be returned tenfold."
"So speaks Brud, son of Brud, last son of Blackearth."

Ok.....

So I will give to the End of this week coming Friday November 9th at 11:59 EST then as a group we will decide?

That gives people time to submit and tweak as necessary
