So, I got the flu. Not really over it, yet, but past the worst of it.
I went to get tested to verify it was flu, and the care providers went down the "better safe than sorry hole" a might to far, in my opinion.
Standard questions, designed to check for other, deeper concerns/problems, right? "Do you have any tightness in your chest?" "I've been coughing for about three days at this point, yes, I have a tightness in my chest!" So, they stopped everything about verifying the flu in order to check for a heart attack. Thing is, my fever had just started to break, and I was not only DRENCHED in sweat, but I was still actively sweating that hard. They couldn't get a good EKG read because the contact stickers wouldn't. Stick, I mean.
They called an ambulance and transferred me to an ER, to make sure I wasn't having a heart attack. The ER team was focused on EXACTLY one thing, for obvious reasons. First thing they did different? They took that super medical tape and taped the sensors down. EKG told them almost immediately that there was no heart attack going on. I was still in that ER for nearly 15 hours . . ..
IV fluids. Roughly 2.4 liters of fluid pushed into my system. Breathing treatment. Seems when I arrived in the ER, my O2 saturation was around 82. They started to admit me in order to watch my O2 saturation levels, but after I sat in their ER for that long without any further dips, they accepted it might not still be required and discharged me instead of continuing to wait for a room. Having an asthmatic wife means we have a nebulizer at home, and that helped sell the release, too. Still spending more time asleep than awake, for now.
Missed a couple of Santa gigs the family had lined up. Went to a photoshoot with a family yesterday. I was there for about 10 minutes, just needing to sit and smile, but I stumbled into the house when I got home, completely exhausted. I'm supposed to go get caught in a neighbor's house tonight. Very worried about going. Just as worried about denying their kids.
You're health comes first, have you tried to sit up to sleep that could help with the breathing, did they send you home with O2 orders?
I have a post so that we don't have to combat and it will give you guys a feeling for what the Demons in the World Wound will be like. I will get it up tonight or tomorrow.
Nope. LOTS of medication for the nebulizer, though. Enough to use it 4 times a day for two weeks . . ... Not that we are ANYWHERE close to that!
Replaced my tiny little sobakowa pillow with a foam wedge. Wife couldn't handle me sitting up all night, so, using it far less vertically. OTC Cold/Flu medication; the breathing treatments; hot, soaking showers have combined well enough to let me use my CPAP 2 of the 3 last nights. Had about 5 nights in a row where I couldn't. Obviously, lack of good sleep wasn't helping.
I've spent most of the day hiding from the grandkids . . .. Their parents tried to force the little darlings through all the presents machine-gun style. At one and two years old. The meltdown has been epic and running all. day. long.

Sorry about being a bit inactive recently. Barring some last-minute change, I'm going to be starting a new job soon. I'd wanted to wait until all the details were officially confirmed to inform everyone, but things are starting to pick up again after the holidays and they've understandably been a bit slow about it, so I'm just posting now. I'd still like to continue on playing, but it'll be a big adjustment for me to make and I don't know how much time and energy I'll have. I'll probably continue being slow to respond for a few more weeks at least, so feel free to bot me if I'm holding things up or haven't posted for a while. I'll probably get back and make a final decision on whether or not I can continue on once I get settled down, we'll see. Hopefully that's okay, thanks.

First, I owe everyone apologies for vanishing without a word. I've come back to try to apologize for doing so, and to let you know that I have no idea when I'll be able to meaningfully return.
That's as far s anyone needs to read. If you're curious, you are free to keep going, though.
Why did I vanish? My wife had started an evaluation of her knees, scheduled to run for about 2 months. First appointment was on a Monday. Late that same Thursday we were told the evaluation was over and they were going to schedule her for a full knee replacement in her worse leg. We found out that next Monday that surgery was that Thursday, a week after we were told she would be having surgery.
I took some sick leave to help her through the surgery and earliest recovery stages. I've been working half days, taking sick leave for the rest, for the past couple of weeks, trying to keep her from doing too much with the live-in grand kids and doing her exercises, with only partial luck.
She's doing her exercises while I type, and the grand kids are down for their naps. Today is going to be the last day I PLAN to do the half-day thing. Thing is, even having been home so much more than normal, I've been going non-stop. We were two weeks past her surgery before I even got into the office where my computer sits, and we're over three weeks past it now and I've had to steal the time to let people know what's going on.
I don't know how long it will be before I can reasonably expect the leisure time to properly contribute to these games again. I am sorry for vanishing, but I have to focus on my wife's actual needs before I play.
No worries I fully understand, this is a game and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't mean much to real life.
Lorena is out for a while too not sure when she will return.
We could give it some time and maybe pick it back up again in a bit if people want too.
The last thing I want to do is hog all the spotlight and move things forward so far that nobody catches up. Also don’t want this campaign to die.

Quick update, I just finished my 2nd week (and got my first paycheck, yay) and while it's been tiring, I think (or perhaps hope) I'm getting used to it. I'll try to slowly return to being more active going forward, but there are still going to be late days where I get home and just want to crash, so don't expect too much just yet. I might end up having to drop a game or two to help out, but it won't be this one.
And, Terry, yeah, that sucks. My family is going through a medical emergency of our own right now too - I can't help too much considering the circumstances, but everyone else is having a really tough time as well. Hopefully everything is fine and all goes well.
Have we lost both Firinn and Terry for good? Will we be getting replacements?
I think Terry is gone for a bit, I haven't killed either of them off and this is a good place to bring in some replacements.

If I could...may I remake Khaz as a Champion of the Faith Warpriest and still have him count as a paladin? The archetype requires him to be Lawful Good, gives him Detect Evil and Smite Evil. It just means having worse saves, lower BaB, and spells that he can cast.
If not, then I’d like to make him a Warpriest VMC Paladin.
I think that it would be more fun to play as our levels increase. And thematically it would be very similar.
Just did the crunch for new build, just need to port it over to this profile. But, in summary:
-17 HP
- 4 Fort and Ref, -2 Will and no longer immune to fear
- all channeling
- lay on hands
- Smite and Detect Evil
- 2 to hit
+ Spellcasting (buffs and heal focused, can heal like LoH with fervor)
+ Blessings (cures effects like lay on hands)
+ Smite and Detect Alignment (get it via archetype)
+ Roll twice pick highest when attacking, attack is Good, Lawful and Cold Iron! Reroll misses due to Concealment
All in all he hasn’t changed all that much. Probably a lateral move as far as power is concerned, given that the two classes are very similar. But I think it will be a good long-term investment for the character when it comes to power and enjoyability.
That sounds find to me, are you still going with the 2 handed version or going to Club and Shield?
2 handed. Equipment doesn’t change at all. It’s a rebuild but the core will be similar.

She is a half-elf, but the purple kind, which causes her to meet all kind of prejudice wherever she shows up.

Seldlon, I'd suggest a full arcane caster of some kind, since I think that's the only thing we lack at the moment. But, in the end, build what you think you'd enjoy :)

I took the Archmage epic destiny because when I joined in I was subbing for a missing arcanist, but we sure could use a full arcanist/wizard/sorcerer/whatever!
Also, I don't think any of us do the traps-and-locks thing, if someone wanted to be a skill money (as Seldlon mentioned above). Possibly an arcane trickster could hit both roles, using mythic powers to make up any shortfalls.
I'm building a wizard based on your input. What specifically are you looking for this guy to do for the party? Will build out to that need. Not sure where you are going with this one. I was expecting cleric. Please see the below link regarding the challenges I will face when the demons arrive.

I can scribe scrolls, wands, and wondrous items. That should bring the cost of many items to one half.

Is there a special reason you went with universalist? I read once that it is worth using two spell slots for the forbidden school spells, and still come out ahead of the universalist for number of spells, usually.
Thank you, Pointyear! I have seen that remark as well. Decided to keep it simple and did not look into it deeply. Will revisit. I know I have some polishing to do on this guy. Also considered being small as opposed to medium in size.
Looked at it and it made total sense to go evoker and the two opposing schools would rarely if ever be used. Great call, Purple. And I went small for the +1 to AC and maybe that will come in handy when we are in a tight spot.
For small are you using the non-human rules like I did? If so, is your character a halfling or gnome Tiefling v
I did not. Which, if either would you recommend? I am guessing halflings might be better accepted in general. IDK. And questioning that decision. The +1 to AC and I give up speed and weapon damage. Probably going back to medium.
Small size also gets you +1 to attack. Would help with the touch and ranged touch attacks of spells. Weapon damage is neglectable anyway with a full caster wizard.
I'm also still juggling around a bit. Moved some skill points around. Still looking at the mystic stuff. Might play around with the rogue talents. If someone has a thought what the skill mokey of the group should cover, that I don't: Now is still time to point it out.
Purple, I thought you did a pretty good job up front on your build. Look forward to seeing it when you are done.

Purple and Molos what Campaign traits did you pick, also I totally forgot about the special build rules I had used.
you can use 20 pt buy and always have max HP
