Hey DeeV8, its a small thing, but I noticed you did your culture roll but didn't get 15. Yet you knew what the spoiler was.
Its not a huge deal at all, but those Skill spoilers are a way for you to roll to get information. You are only really supposed to open it up if you beat the DC. I know you curiosity as a player can always get the better of you, but your Character should not know what is inside.
When you post you can do your dice roll, then click preview. That will show you what you got, then you can edit your post a bit to incorporate whatever roll you got. Your roll wont change, unless you add in more rolls.
I hope that makes sense. Again, this one is not a big deal, but sometimes you wont know what is inside those spoiler tags because you didn't beat the DC.
OOps, my apologizes! I really thought I tried to keep it as vague as possible. One would imagine that the Starfinder Society would have tons of adds in the Infosphere about they needing recruits. Anyway I will make sure I don't get too carried away.

Chapter 2: Wherein I get too excited over this game and create a Padlet pegboard for use in unraveling this mystery! It's linked in my tagline! Anyone can edit/add.

Once again, Work had been really pushing me, I've been working non-stop every day for the past 3 weeks, and recently it's gotten even harder. So expect some delay and bot me if needed.

Understood Iridar. Thanks for checking in.
Hey everyone, looks like Hero Lab Online has been released: https://herolab.online
I don't think its perfect, still some bugs in it, but I figured I would mention it. its $35 to start then like $2 a month after the first 180 days, but I think we get all the splat books for free vs Hero Lab classic

Hey, Nex. I included a couple of skill checks for you in a spoiler in one of my earlier posts regarding the docking bay firefight like you requested. Does anything come of that? Or did I fall short of the DC? It's no biggie. I was just hoping to scavenge some stuff to upgrade Tylur's gear. Kitting out a frontline soldier is pretty expensive for starting gear.
Zamasea De |
Thanks for the info about Herolab Online. As a longtime user on my PC, I've been waiting to try to it, and I wouldn't have noticed it's live without your comment. I went ahead and purchased it and built Zam. Is there a BBC Code output option like in Herolab classic? Or must I print to PDF and link the file?
I must say I enjoy the ease of access from any device, though you're right there are some clunky features, like sorting through the gear and feat lists (though I guess the same applies to HL Classic).
DM Nex |
It is definitely not perfect, but I know they will update it as it goes. One issue I still have is Drones just don't work.. but none of us have drones so that should make it a bit easier.
There is no BBCode yet. Just printing with PDF. I don't mind if you use that for your sheet and just link to it somewhere, as long as your in forum header has all the important info like Health, saves, init, etc.
Zamasea De |
Hey guys, very busy day for me today. I'll try to get a post up ASAP. Nex, your summary of our actions so far sounds good.
Neil Spicer Contributor, RPG Superstar 2009, RPG Superstar Judgernaut |
Ah yes! I included a spoiler tag for you Here
Ah! Got it! I totally missed that spoiler with it being at the top of the post next to the quote section.
DM Nex:
On a similar note, let me know if you all want to buy stuff. The station is pretty much mass produced everything, so everything is available.
Nothing yet, but sometime in the future, I want to pick up an advanced melee weapon...maybe a longsword, survival knife, or pulse gauntlet.
Zamasea De |
I'll have a post up within a few hours :)

Are we going to make much of the gambling? It could be fun, and I found this thread that has some suggestions for simple gambling games using d20's.
DM Nex |
I think the gambling is kinda hard to handle..
How I wanted to do it was this:
Decide on an original amount to bet.
1d20. Divide by 10. so it ranges from 0.1 to 2.0
Multiply your original bet by the result. So you can't lose everything, but you can double your money.
That ok with everyone. I don't want to get TOO far out of the track of the story. But I love the idea of RPing some casino time.

FYI i'm ready to move on whenever, just putting up some RP for fun. I think scoping out the Fusion Queen tonight is a good idea, but Zam will probably sit that mission out (in part to give other people a chance to post). However, tomorrow she's definitely down for lunch at Mama Fats.

Oh, for future reference, I am playing Iridar as the loveable @##hole, so he may appear blunt, rude, and uncanny but he really doesn't mean any harm and just wants to be friends in the end.
He treats folks like they've treated him, so he doesn't see anything wrong with his attitude.
Hang in there because I may get kinda irritating at times, possibly rushing in and just taking things without asking or ignoring orders. Please all just realize that this is Just RP, ant truely important decisions I will act as a respectful player and consult with y'all.
Zamasea De |
Oh I totally thought so, Iridar. Nice of you to clarify, though.

He's really not coming across like you intend then. My suggestion would be to focus a bit more on weaving in the "loveable" part in his interaction with the rest of the party. So far, there really doesn't seem to be any redeeming quality about his attitude or behavior. Not just for this past scene, but for many of the earlier ones, as well. So, though you may view him a certain way, I'm not sure your portrayal of him in-game is conveying it well enough.
Hang in there because I may get kinda irritating at times, possibly rushing in and just taking things without asking or ignoring orders. Please all just realize that this is Just RP, ant truely important decisions I will act as a respectful player and consult with y'all.
I'll certainly continue to give him the benefit of the doubt for the sake of the game. Please do realize that you're playing alongside four Good characters (3 CG, 1 NG) in terms of alignment, and while it's perfectly reasonable for them to all get along with a CN rogue-like ace pilot who happens to be a drow elf, we need to work on the why's and how's of it to make sense within the story. That'll take time, of course. But it'll also take the right kind of interaction in-game to let it evolve in a credible fashion. I need some more roleplaying "hooks" between Tylur and Iridar for them to start finding common ground.
Iridar Val'Haven |
My plan is to have him Develop attachments as we progress. So he'll start out seeming like a complete jerk, but over time gets a little easier to deal with. Honestly CAN isn't much different than CG, its just a matter of morals. Iridar isn't kind, he doesn't sugar-coat anything!
Once again, I'm waiting for the game to progress a little before I begin to be a bit more sympathetic.

Still about... Just not how to get in with everyone going off on their own with things. I will try to post something here shortly after I have had some dinner.
Zamasea De |
About eaten posts: I've taken to writing almost everything in a word processor (Google docs, Word, or Notepad), then copying and pasting it over into the paizo text box. I also compulsively Ctrl+A and Ctrl+C everything before submitting. A bit cumbersome, but it's saved me more times than I can count.

Recharging stations are on page 234 core rulebook under "Recharging Stations"
It states charging a battery may be low to no cost depending on the station. If your saying it's free, then yeah, Infinite free ammo for energy weapons where all those scrubs have to buy ammo for their projectile weapons, HAHAHAHAHA
Zamasea De |
Sorry guys crazy day. I'll post in the morning!
Iridar Val'Haven |
So, I'll state it here to be clear, Iridar is offering to donate his Rifle to DeeV8 if she gets a pistol and let's him use it
That way Dee can have a rifle and you don't have to pay much to have it.
Sure Iridar has a Lazer pistols not the the main difference is about 2 points of damage on average. Although it might be better in my hands because I have the full attack ability.
Honestly I'm looking more into advanced melee and power armor for later game, right now the rifle was just the best cheapest weapon I could by.
Zamasea De |
If that trade works for them, sounds like the club.
DeeV8 |
Yeah I'll post a reply. thanks all ;)
Iridar Val'Haven |
Okay, I'll loan you my rifle and one battery for it(I only have three batteries)
I'll take the spare we picked up in the scrimmage and we can proceed from there then...
Zamasea De |
When in doubt, GM reacts! My chances of concealing my weapon against their perception are slim, and it looks like Dee and Tylur are out for blood :D.
Neil Spicer Contributor, RPG Superstar 2009, RPG Superstar Judgernaut |
FYI...Tylur went in assuming it would come to violence. And, for an ex-soldier, he'd rather be the one initiating it than waiting for it to come his way. As a result, he was just looking for an opportunity to get the drop on these killers, and he has no qualms in gunning them down (or maybe just severely wounding them) as payback for Kreel's death.
Basically, Tylur is in Chaotic Good avenger-mode. And he's thinking a show of force in quickly eliminating these guards might be a good way to encourage Ferani's surrender. In the likely event that she doesn't, at least we'll have reduced her crew to more manageable numbers...and it's best that we do that now rather than wait for her and 'Hatchbuster' to arrive so they can out-gun us.
DeeV8 |
Hey you won't get any sort of protest from Dee...
Iridar Val'Haven |
Sorry, thanks for not just replacing me :P I AM HERE! and I fully intend to stick around, it's just... Well life
But anyways: this always happens to me. Ranged combat I suck at every, but give me any melee weapon and for some reason I roll a Nat 20.
Damage never changes though, it's always low.
I try to have the ongoing joke with this be that despite years of training my Character always get distracted or overcompensate...
DM Nex |
No Worries Iridar, just let us know you are alive in Discussion if you can, when it goes that long. I understand though! Life is more important.
I have not been running PbP too long, but my current thought is to give it quite a bit of time before actually dropping someone.
While in combat, if someone's turn is up for over a day (more likely 2). Then I will bot. If that person has not posted in days and their turn comes up again, I might wait less.
Now after combat and the person has not posted I will only "remove" them from the game after about a week. But they will just be elsewhere.
If they are not posted in 2 weeks, even in discussion, then I will think about replacing them.
Does that sound ok to everyone?
Zamasea De |
Works for me! There will be times when I just can't get a computer for a proper post (I have a trip to the beach coming up in a couple weeks). I'll try to be clear in advance.
DeeV8 |
Sounds great, mine is coming up!
