Rules for Wilderness Travel:

In a given day the group can travel 12 miles.

12 hours each day you will need some protection from the heat.

Armor has 24 hours per level of protection you can divvy up per hour.

Every day:
DC 18 Survival to avoid getting lost
or
DC 12 Survival to follow tracks.

Avoiding getting lost is harder, but you can move further. Following tracks you can move 3/4 the days speed, but is easier. Only 1 person can be on point for this, with assists being allowed. If you fail either of these checks you only make 1/2 process.

Because you have Dr. Solstarni’s notes and the files from Ailabiens 21:2 you have a +2 on these Survival checks.

Weather:
You can use suit’s protection, air bubble, or can make a Fortitude save each hour (DC 15 + 1 per previous check) or take 1d4 nonlethal fire damage. Heavy armor gives a -4 penalty on this. You can roll a Survival at the beginning of the day to provide a bonus to this.

If you take heat damage you suffer heatstroke, (Fatigued condition). These penalties go away when you are healed of the damage.

-2 penalty for each range increment after the first. All weapons can be fired up to 10 range increments away.

Weapon Point attribute: A weapon with this special property is always short range and can’t be fired against targets that are outside the first range increment. If a tracking weapon would hit a ship in an arc that contains a weapon with the point special property, the gunner of the targeted starships can attempt an immediate gunnery check with the point weapon against the incoming tracking projectile using the bonus listed in parentheses in the weapon’s Special entry (instead of her usual bonus to gunnery checks). The DC for this gunnery check is equal to 10 + the tracking weapon’s speed. If the attack hits, the tracking weapon is destroyed before it can damage the ship. A point weapon can be used to attempt only one such free gunnery check each round, but this usage potentially allows a point weapon to be fired twice in a single round.

Hey everyone. Nex, thanks for having me--I'm really happy to be here. As I mentioned in recruitment, I have quite a bit of pathfinder under my belt, but I am very new to Starfinder--I just got the book two days ago! But it looks like there's great synergy with Pathfinder so I imagine it will be a pretty painless transition.

If anyone would like to look over my profile I'm completely open to suggestions (and of course, corrections because I'm sure I missed something). I'll fix my tagline and start thinking hard about my starting purchases.

I went and inputted all my picks into the Hero Lab beta I have for starfinder. The only thing I could find was that you have Rounds, but have a laser gun. You will want to sell those and buy a battery or two to power the gun.

I can't seem to find the cause either. Maybe it was for the clothing? Might be a free thing, whereas Hero Lab might have charged for it?

That is fine with me. Another note for your character. I don't believe you picked a Home Planet, which would give you that planet's language for free.

Also by putting a point in Culture you get another free language, it works like Linguistics in Pathfinder. So you are missing a few languages. Everything else looks awesome though.

    I woke up early (way too early) and went ahead and created the spreadsheet, which is now linked at the end of my stats. I got, um, a little carried away with the color choices. If it's too hard to read please let me know. Also, everyone is free to edit the document so feel free to play around with it.

    This is the spreadsheet I use in all my campaigns, and which I use to keep track of loot in a couple more as a player. I'm glad to answer any questions. The spreadsheet looks daunting at first, but is really very straightforward. The hardest part is calculating the value of items as we claim them.

    The main sheet is where we'll list loot as we find it, allocate items, and so forth. I have included two items as an example. The first, an injection glove, is not claimed by anyone, and so it's liquidated value (10%) is listed for sale and eventual inclusion in a dividend to the players. Notice that at the top right of the sheet there is a box that calculates individual dividend as "credits each". This is simply the liquidated value of all items not claimed, divided by five. The second item, freebooter armor I, makes a nice upgrade for Zam, and so I write my name under Destination. If multiple players want the same item, we can decide in the discussion thread. Conveniently, inserting a PC's name then prevents that item's sale value from being included in the credit dividend calculation. Since we're only selling the injection glove for 49 credits, the individual dividend for this sale is 9 credits each.

    Each PC also has a tab where you can keep track of other things on your end. See Zam's tab for a simple example. The "TWR" tab is a way to measure how many raw credits each PC has been issued (total "dividends"), but it remains to be seen how we're going to manage our loot, exactly, so don't pay it much mind.

    I've never used Roll20, but I'll check it out. Just as FYI, during the day, if I post anything, it'll be via my phone, so I may not be able to reference other stuff (like Roll20, the loot spreadsheet, etc.). But, in the evenings, I'll have access to my laptop, and I can probably access things a bit more easily there.

    For loot, I'm really not that concerned with it. Never have been in any of my games. For me, I'm here for the story. The more granularized aspects of the rules don't matter as much in a play-by-post format. But that's just my opinion. I'll always adhere to the rules established by any GM. So, no worries.

    With my plus account Roll20 will work on the phone. At least for quick reference to the battle field. I try to only use it when positioning really matters. Though I try to keep it theatre of the mind most of the time.

    No worries about when/how you post. I am sure we will work it out.

    I tend to try to be a bit on point with rules, but I try not to let it take away from the story. I am also a visual person so i like to provide visuals when possible. Hopefully it enhances the story.

    I am mostly trying to avoid the crazy packrat who takes every item and is way over their carrying capacity.

    I love the story element of PbP for sure. But I like the loot mini game as well (within reason). I also like the visual of roll20 and maps. I think we'll quickly find a happy medium.

    Nex, I saw you posted a very good question about limited telepathy and how it works--I think, concerning Shirren. Did you ever decide on a houserule for it? Lashunta have the same ability.

    As far as I can tell you can pick any of the languages. So feel free to grab another langauge of your choice, at least any of the common ones.

    I think my final determination would be that you can talk TO anyone, and you can listen to intended responses, but only if the person wants to respond. And you can "broadcast" to many users at once. About the same distance as a normal voice. But the other users cant hear eachother.

    Hopefully that makes sense. I am not going to worry too much about it, just don't abuse the power.

    From what I could tell, communication with multiple people is basically like trying to talk with more than one person normally, however the receiver wouldn't be able to tell if anyone else is talking, so there's a chance that two players could talk over each other and it'd be like trying to have two conversations at once.

    No worries you missed anyway!

    So everyone, this time I included a picture of the battle field, for those not wanting to (or unable to) use Roll20. The link is safe, just a png file of the battle field. Not the smallest image in the world, but it just links to my home server.

    My plan, like my other game, is to take "current map" pictures after each round, to help out those not able to roll20. That being said, when we are doing exploration, different people are going to be able to see different things, depending on light levels and vision. So I might require more roll20, but for things like this, where everything is lit really well, we can go this route.

    So I see many of you on the Roll20 Link, but I am not sure who all is who.

    Unknown users: Erik T (I believe this is DeeV8). And one person has not clicked the link. I assume that is Iridar (I know from our other game Roll20 is a bit hard for you).

    Roll20 should work on phones now, since I have a plus account. I have set it up so you are able to move your token around. If you just want to view the picture, just describe where you want to move. Either with (1 left, 2 up, etc) or "I want to get to the bottom of that reverse C thing". Whatever works for me.

    We will use this just for combat, and true exploration. I imagine we will need to use it for star ship combat too, since positioning matters a TON. We will learn as we go, and hopefully come up with a good practice that works for everyone.

    @DeeV8 - I am not sure you are aware, since under your daily usage spoiler you have certain spells, all casters are spontaneous in Starfinder.

    Meaning, you just have spell slots, (3 for you right now), and you can use those slots to cast any of your level 1 spells. No need to prepare before hand. So you can use all 3 on Magic Missile. Or decide to use another one you know.

    The bonus you have is with your spell cache, you gain 1 more "slot" to use at any spell level once per day.

    Also on your background you have supercharge weapon, but your spoiler has overheat. Which one did you want to take as your second spell (magic missile being the first)?

    I am just saying you don't need to designate your Spell Cache to anything, you can make up what spell you want to use in the moment.

    You do you, I just don't want you to feel limited at all. You have some flexibility when it comes to casting spells. You can cast ANY level 1 spell, you know, 3 times. And your spell cache can cast ANY spell you know 1 time a day. No reason to decide which ones (from what you know), till you cast them! Flexibility!

    I just wanted to chime in about Botting Sybil. It had been over 24 hours since she posted last, and I know the combat is going in your favor, so I was just going to push it along a bit.

    While I don't expect everyone to post perfectly, when we are in combat once every 24 hours (give or take a 12 hours or so) is kinda what I expect. I want to keep the flow going for this game, without it staling out too much.

    I formatted the link poorly in previous posts. I know what I did wrong, so going forward they will look better. You can always just sign into roll20 and move your own character. I just post pictures to help people who can't get to it.

    Hey DeeV8, its a small thing, but I noticed you did your culture roll but didn't get 15. Yet you knew what the spoiler was.

    Its not a huge deal at all, but those Skill spoilers are a way for you to roll to get information. You are only really supposed to open it up if you beat the DC. I know you curiosity as a player can always get the better of you, but your Character should not know what is inside.

    When you post you can do your dice roll, then click preview. That will show you what you got, then you can edit your post a bit to incorporate whatever roll you got. Your roll wont change, unless you add in more rolls.

    I hope that makes sense. Again, this one is not a big deal, but sometimes you wont know what is inside those spoiler tags because you didn't beat the DC.
