Nessa Meretrix |

Nessa was quite relieved to see the thug finally go down and glared at the body viciously before kicking it once. The goon had fallen and rolled to his back and as she went past him she, conveniently, ground the heel of her boot into his crotch as she went past. She looked at the group and knew that Hedran was at least as bad off as her from the look of him.
Nessa looked in the direction of the kitchen and said, "I'm not sure that I want to know what's going on in there but we should check it out." She looked at the two who were in better shape and said, "You get to go first." With that she followed behind her two "bodyguards" towards the kitchen.

Thyra Osouf |

Thyra eyes the unconscious thug, but leads the way into the kitchen, once everyone is ready.
Just checking, but is combat technically over? If it's not, then I can keep my Healing Judgement going. Also, whoever has the highest CMB should tie up the sleeping thug.

![]() |

I have Hedran at 4 hp and just waiting on Nessa then you all can take another turn. Sarai, the noises came from the kitchen, the room to the north of your current position.
That's super bizarre. I had placed my token close to Thyra's position after my double move, but for some reason it now shows up in the dining room. I had, indeed, been heading for the kitchen (and had even had room to get a couple squares inside). If it's alright, I've adjusted my position.

![]() |

Turning to the others, Sarai shouts "Make sure these two are alright! I'll check upstairs!"
Following the trail of blood, Sarai pads up the stairs like a cat.
stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29

Thyra Osouf |

Thyra nods at Sarai, but grimaces at the tiefling, letting her disapproval show of her going alone. She then turns to Hans and Beyar to see if they are still alive or not.

Cameron Hawkwinter |

GM Dak |

Sarai slips off up the stairs following the light blood trail.
Thyra checks the two men and confirms they are alive, just unconscious from an obvious fight that took place. There wounds were severe but they both seem to have stopped bleeding for the time being.

![]() |

Sarai hurries back downstairs to motion for the others to come, then heads back to the top of the stairwell.
stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18 Guessing I can get to the bottom of the stairs, motion to Thyra, and head right back to the top.

Thyra Osouf |

Satisfied with the bodyguards' state, Thyra follows Sarai up the stairs, motioning the others to follow. She knows that she could never match Sarai's stealthy approach, but she makes an attempt to prevent from being heard.
Stealth: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
Hehehe...

Nessa Meretrix |

Nessa nodded acceptance as Sarai said she'd go up alone and let the other tiefling do so. Far be it from her to tell the woman it was a bad idea to split up. Still, when Sarai returned unharmed Nessa was pleased her minion made it back in one piece. Letting the more robust Thyra go first Nessa went along with the small group up the stairs to see just what Sarai had discovered.

GM Dak |

1d20 ⇒ 18
The group makes their way upstairs, but Thyra in her attempt to be quiet trips and nearly falls on the steps. She catches herself, before making too much noise but she feels as though the whole world probably heard it. Luckily, she was far enough down the steps and Sarai sees that it doesn't appear it attracted the mens attention.

Thyra Osouf |

Thyra whispers to Sarai, looking a little bashful for her blunder, "What do you see?" she asks, not daring to peek around the corner.

![]() |

Sarai cringes as Thyra lumbers up the stairs, making all kinds of noise. But no one seems to hear, perhaps because of the ransacking going on in the office.
She holds up three fingers to the others, then nocks an arrow. Exhaling, she releases it. should be able to hit the one to the north. 3 dmg is all, though.
mwk shortbow (point blank shot, sneak attack): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 1 = 221d6 ⇒ 21d6 ⇒ 1

Thyra Osouf |

Watching Sarai's movements, she hefts her hammer in her hands and prepares to move into the hallway.
This is gonna hurt!

Cameron Hawkwinter |

Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
While they waited for something to happen, he couldn't help but wonder what was going on in there. Whatever it was didn't seem outwardly to be related to a mysterious elf, but that wasn't to say it wasn't interesting. Cameron once felt he'd had a pretty cosmopolitan upbringing, having lived with mundane but industrious humans in Nantambu and among the wild but free Ekujae. Riddleport shattered his illusions. He still could scarcely believe his eyes when he saw scantily Tieflings wondering around. He wasn't sure if he liked this idea or hated it, but it was certainly interesting! As for the renegade, they where smart enough not to wander around openly, or Kwave and he would have caught up with them long. It seems they'd have to continue their stake out for the time being, and Riddleport was far stranger and more dangerous than he could have imagined. And then there where the strange things happening, earthquakes, a blot in the sky...

Nessa Meretrix |

Nessa grimaced like Sarai when Thyra stumbled but was quite relieved that there was no cry of alarm. She made a conscious effort to be silent herself now, not wanting to alert whoever was up her to their presence.
Stealth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
She did much better than Thyra did, likely due to her wearing very little, and continued up until Sarai gestured for them to stop. She looked back to see Hedran behind her and blew him a kiss before wriggling her backside in front of him a moment. She then turned her focus back on the impending fight once she caught sight of Sarai's knocking her arrow and letting it fly.
If he's within 30 feet you get your sneak attack damage too since he is likely flatfooted.

GM Dak |

Once everyone gets up the stairs, Sarai looses an arrow at one of the men guarding Saul's office. The arrow strikes the already injured man as he yelps in pain. They look down the hall and spot Sarai and shout out to the other man "More trouble!"
Hedran: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Cameron: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Nessa: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Sarai: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Thyra: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Enemy-T: 1d20 ⇒ 5
Enemy-J: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
The one half-orc, this one much more lithe, but still muscular, than the previous one, drops what he is doing and rushes down the hallway. Then proceeds to try and punch Sarai in the face.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
He lands a serious right hook, and causes her nose to start bleeding.
Round 1
Enemy-J, > Thyra/Sarai/Hedran, Enemy-T, Nessa

"Gah!" Sarai cries, seriously hurt by the blow to the face. Not expecting that, she reels backward, hoping one of her companions will take up position in front of her.
She does manage to fire off an arrow as she backpedals.
mwk shortbow (point blank shot): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 1 = 141d6 ⇒ 5
Wow, we're all pretty low on hp! Early TPK?

Thyra Osouf |

Thyra tells Sarai, "Make way!" and gives her an opportunity to make a whole so that she can get right into this half-orc's face, hammer first.
Full-round Action: Delay
Assuming Sarai moves in some way, use the following actions.
Standard Action:
Hammer Attack vs. Half-orc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Hammer Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 5) + 3 = 11
If Sarai can't/doesn't move, then use the following action instead.
Intimidate/Demoralize: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Edit: NM! Going with the Primary Action option.
Edit2: @GM Dak - Is it safe to say, based on the number of posts since combat, that I have 5 rounds of Shield of Faith left?

Hedran |

Wow, we're all pretty low on hp! Early TPK?
Come on Sarai, you only noticed that now? I was in the negatives just like 3 or 4 posts back. These guys are more than us, and hit harder than us, so TPK seems accurate ;)
Hedran steps up, drawing his shield as he goes, and swings at the half-orc.
Morningstar: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
Damage if it hits: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
I guess Shield has worn off by now, so my AC is 18.

GM Dak |

After Sarai gets socked in the face, she steps back and takes another shot at the half-orc. In the cramped space though the arrow misses. Thyra steps between the half-orc and Sarai and takes a swing, but her foe dodges out of the way. Hedran steps up and attempts to hit their new enemy as well, but doesn't have any luck.
The two men in the back take cover behind the walls, but with the limited space don't move in to join the fight.
Round 1
Enemy-J, Thyra/Sarai/Hedran, Enemy-T, > Nessa

Nessa Meretrix |

Am I even able to see the nearest guy from my location? It's really cluttered.

Nessa Meretrix |

Nessa was more than happy to let Hedran move past her to take on these enemies. She wasn't in good shape and had no appreciable magic left to her. Instead she thought some taunting might be in order and yelled out to the thugs, "your buddies are dead or captured!" Her tone became vicious, "You're next if you don't surrender now!"
Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23

GM Dak |

The half-orc seems visible shaken at Nessa's threat, but with only the one stairwell down he attacks Thyra to get through.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 2 = 9
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 5 - 2 = 14
He takes a swing with his right and then attempts to knee her with his left leg, but he only catchs armor and shield and isn't able to actually hurt Thyra.
Round 2
Enemy-J, > Thyra/Sarai/Hedran, Enemy-T, Nessa

![]() |

Hoping to stay in the fight despite her wounds, Sarai draws a scroll to improve her defenses.
She also steps back to allow more of her allies to get up the stairs.
Cast mage armor, AC now 18

Thyra Osouf |

4 rounds left - Shield of Faith
Thyra presses the attack, trying to smash the brawler in the face with her hammer.
Standard Action:
Hammer Attack vs. Half-orc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Hammer Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5) + 3 = 13

Nessa Meretrix |

With the thugs refusal to give up Nessa just sighed in annoyance. There was really nothing she could do at this point to save them or her companions. She stood there impatiently and waited fora chance to move in to attack.
not much I can do right now, can't see them and I can't move in to do so without getting stabbed. Readying to attack if I get a view of one with a spell.

GM Dak |

Sarai steps back and uses a scroll to better protect herself while Thyra and Hedran both swing and miss the nimble man throwing punches.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 5 - 2 = 10
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 5 - 2 = 5
Luckily Thyra seems to be holding her own as well, as the half-orc continues to strike out with his punches and kicks.
Round 3
Enemy-J, > Thyra/Sarai/Hedran/Nessa, Enemy-T

![]() |

Sarai, standing behind the stalwart Thyra, seems shaken by their predicament. She fumbles with her arrow, and trying to aim around the inquisitor, sends it into the door jam to her right.
"Has my luck run out again?" she wonders.
mwk shortbow (point blank shot): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 = 71d6 ⇒ 1 Dice bot is going to condemn us to a TPK!

Thyra Osouf |

3 rounds left - Shield of Faith
Looking for an opening, Thyra continues her assault on the half-orc.
All I need is one or two good hits. Preferably before my spell runs out.
Standard Action:
Hammer Attack vs. Half-orc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Hammer Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (5, 2) + 3 = 10
...That wasn't it....

Nessa Meretrix |

And that's why I rarely play anything but casters who don't need to roll the dice to hit. Dice hate me.
Nessa found herself still stuck out of the fight and it was becoming aggravating. She very badly wanted to get in there and start attacking their enemies but she was still trapped by the bottleneck caused by her minions incompetency at hitting things. thinking about it she had to get better minions. Nessa continued to stand there, her wings folded down, and waited impatiently.

![]() |

Nessa, I think there's a good argument you could see the guy we're all engaged with (if the map grid were even with the hallway). I think you could get an acid splash in, perhaps.

Nessa Meretrix |

Already asked that and was told I couldn't, there is a hard corner there after all, and he hasn't moved since I don't believe.

Nessa Meretrix |

It's going to require everyone moving out of the way and pushing that guy back so I can get out and down the hall.

GM Dak |

Yup, hard corner there so she can't see him. Yeah either need to move back to draw him into the open doorway or move him forward if you want to get Nessa to help. As a side note, don't forget you can always retreat and try to get help, Bojask and Saul are still alive as far as you know.
Between the cramped quarters and the half-orcs dexterity none of the group is able to land a single blow on him. Seeing they aren't as big of a threat as Nessa had threatened they were he cracks his knuckles and comes in for another attack on Thyra.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
He leads with a kick to her side and when she goes to block it the half-orc punches her square in the jaw with a solid blow that makes her see stars for a second.
Round 4
Enemy-J, > Thyra/Sarai/Hedran/Nessa, Enemy-T

Thyra Osouf |

2 rounds left - Shield of Faith
Thyra shakes her head to clear the spots from her vision, then looks at the half-orc with a sneer, "Ya shoudln'a done that." She swings her hammer at his head again, but then retreats back a step.
Standard Action:
Hammer Attack vs. Half-orc: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Hammer Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 6) + 3 = 12
Free Action: 5-foot step

GM Dak |

Not from as far back as she is, he has total cover. Technically you should be having partial cover penalties, but I hadn't been worrying about it. I know the map isn't perfectly aligned, but from where she is all she can see is the wall.

![]() |

"From the loftiest heights to the blackest deeps..." Sarai says as she casts her last spell.
Abruptly, she vanishes from view and moves down the stairs.
"Fall back...they are too many," she says.
Cast Vanish (2 rounds), then move
