Good to know. I'll get a post up after I get home tonight.

Lysira Silverclaw |

Forgive me, seems it will be morning. It has been a long day of RL, Work and stress, even though i'm not supposed to work weekends, they threw a project on late in the week due monday and after it was almost done threw a curveball that made it invade the weekend. They wanted it done yesterday when they asked for it. My brain has gone numb and I can not think straight. I'll post when I can think (hopefully in the morning), again, sorry for this.

Sounds almost exactly like my job.

i just made myself really sad... i was originally planning on using kirin strike, but the action economy is so. effing. terrible. i really wanted to do this investigator without any other classes, but i really don't think i have a choice, but to dip MoMS and pray they let me reduce studied combat to a free action with Quick Study when the class is done.

So I want to confirm how Skinwalker ability score mods work, since I noticed in General Discussion that different people have different takes (which I think are wrong).
A generic skinwalker has +2 Wis -2 Cha, and when they shift they get +2 to a physical stat of their choice. Without shifting, they have no physical stat bonus (some people think it doubles up when shifting).
A specific skinwalker (say Coldborn) has no connection to those generic bonuses/penalties. He has +2 Con -2 Cha all the time, and when he shifts he gets +2 Wis. Like above, he does not double up on Wisdom when he shifts, since the +2 bonus is only active when shifted.

Moriarti |

wait... Harshuk, were you saying that people thought the specific skinwalkers got the +2 Wis, -2 Cha, +2 whatever when shifted and the more specific modifiers?

But we appear to have a consensus on the workings of the race.

I read it like it was a variant heritage for Tieflings and Aasimars. Because that was what the book described them to be to me. Did people think the same think about Tieflings and Aasimars?

Kenna Icemane |

Just to give you guys a headsup, I'll not be available tomorrow, as I'm going abroad for a couple days, but I should be available for the daily post while I'm out.

Moriarti |

augh! sorry, didn't see that we were on my intro. i'm going to be on a bus all day, and i have an iphone so it hates the messageboards and wayfinder apparently isn't an option.

Lysira Silverclaw |

I'm around. The Holidays and Work ate me. I believe most of us it is just this time of year.
And as for DM Frogfoot, in a couple of his other games he posted this:
Sorry I've been a bit flaky the past few days guys! Tomorrow I will be traveling much of the day as I begin my New Years' trip, but I will be posting from my phone where possible! Thanks for bearing with me this crazy time of year :)

Arren Icewalker |

I'm personally very busy on the boards, so I'll pretty much always here XD Whenever I get on I've just been posting on other things.
Beeeesides, not all of the intros are done yet. I'm eager for when they are.

Arren Icewalker |

I can't blame someone for taking breaks, although I would like this to get moving :) It's an intriguing idea and I got attached to you guys as potential allies.
I often go several days without posting on a particular thread.

Saipres |

Oh thanks. :) I'm super excited for this. It's going to be really interesting to bring these characters together. I've never done such a drawn out introduction before, but I think it will really solidify individual personalities before we interact with each other, which is something that I find interesting.

Saipres |

I suspect that my intro will be pretty short.
I made the assumption that since the Fanglords have a feeling of superiority, they probably send their highest leaders - unlike most of the tribes who designated people to go. It supports Saipres having asked to speak to them first, assuming that they'd be going without him.

Darath |

So, something occurred to me last night as I realized we were about to start, and it's probably best to get it out of the way now. Bloodmarked culture being what it is, there's a decent shot that if the situation permits, Darath will make a pass at either or both of the female characters in the group. Obviously you'd be free to respond to that as you wish, but if either of you would rather it not come up at all now would be the time to tell me. I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable.
More immediately... Frogfoot, do you have anything more for us, or are we good to post? It just seems a little too open ended at the moment is all, and I don't want to step on your toes by coming up with something out of the blue.

DM Frogfoot |

You would never be stepping on my toes by adding your own flavor to the story; I love when players do that. Though I will always have the final say on whether something happens, I do encourage my players to "take liberties" and act as they think their characters would, within reason.
I brought all of you into this story because I believe in your storytelling abilities. Use them freely! :)

Arren Icewalker |

Ey Saipres, have you got any ideas yet on how we actually met? I don't think that was ever articulated and I want to make sure we'll agree on that before I remark on our relationship.

Saipres |

I didn't have anything specific in mind, partially because I'm not sure how long you've been a Coldborn or how much you remember about your previous life?
Mostly I enjoyed the notion of us having disagreements on the world, but a respect for each other as well. Arren's basis for disliking humanity is valid, since he has lived in that world, but Saipres isn't entirely convinced by it. For his experiences, he can still be both prideful and naive, which are probably things that are both symptomatic of Fanglords in general. Either way, our relationship? I get an Early-Professor-Xavier-And-Magneto vibe from it.
But how we met, I have no idea. We could have fought together, we could have met on wanderings (mutual or otherwise). Hell we could have fought each other for some reason. The relationship that I have in mind now - I imagine there's a fair amount of disconnect between many of the tribe relations, just because of different cultures and lifestyles - but I think we see eye to eye on most things and get on really well. Friendly, respectful, could certainly be challenging at times, especially since Arren is older and may well be set in his ways?
Anyway, I've been playing with you long enough to trust you pretty implicitly, so definitely if something comes to mind, run with it. If not we can always wait to address how we met another time. I'm hopeful that this game will be going for quite a while. :)

Arren Icewalker |

Oh, it's been about seven years and I remember basically the bigger trends, if not the details.
I like those relationship dynamics :D How old is Saipres supposed to be, anyway? I can totally see Arren trying to be a mentor sort of character for Saipres, although Saipres is much stronger-willed and just as buff as Arren is, so Arren isn't really able to get any sort of control over the fanglord.

Saipres |

I like that plan.
Age, hrm. Skinwalkers say typical adulthood at 15, so I assume the prideful Fanglords do the walkabout thing at about 12. Saipres has seen a few battle campaigns already, gotten in good with the Tiger's Claw, wandered around and met some of the other tribes. So I figure, what, maybe mid-to-late 20's? Certainly younger enough that Arren can be a mentor figure.

Just a random point of trivia (since it's now kinda relevant): The rod with two snakes in a double-helix pattern commonly seen as a symbol of medicine in the US was actually the staff of Hermes, and is thus related to commerce and the like, not medicine. The correct staff, the Rod of Asclepius, has only a single snake coiled along its length; the titular god is associated with healing and medicine, as you might expect.
The more you know...
