Feather Crossed Lovers Round 4

Init: Nalar, Braelex, Relan, Vuloo, Andel, Herifax, Kanya, Swarm

Relan's attack does kill many of the creatures in the swarm. It has noticeable effect

Nalar, frustrated with the turn of events, creates a wall of ice between the party and the catwoman. The woman leaps to interfere with the growing ice, but Nalar's magic is too strong and she is shoved back as the ice closes barring her from the rest of the party.

Braelex flees back across the bridge. (Rolled your acro for you using the roll modifier in your last post, although your stat block says +3)

Just realized that Relan's action will need to change now that his access to the newcomer has been blocked

Vuloo heals himself as Andel fires and scores a shocking hit on the harpy.

I'll hold off on posting Herifax and swarm actions until Relan's post. In general Herifax will shoot at someone visible and the swarm will move toward the closest of you. Posts from everyone else for Round 5 (Relan both 4 and 5, if possible)

Unable to attack the cat woman, Relan shoots Nalar a frustrated look and full attacks the swarm. Reasonable to use the rolls from above even though they were not stellar rolls. Happy to re-roll them if you like. I did not realize I was getting out of init order.

Relan does significant damage to the swarm but it continues on, flowing back over him.

Was hoping I would have some cover from the harpy as I am now inside and behind a wall and there is a doorway to shoot through. Not sure it can even see him from where he is.

I see what you did. Can't 5 foot there, it's either a hard corner or difficult terrain (couch) preventing you. However you can move straight north and achieve the same thing.

That was actually where I had moved to initially. Somehow I got moved over one later.

With little else he can do Relan continues to attack the swarm.

Braelex shudders from the memory of the crawling insects then moves back up to the doorway. She takes sight on the harpy out in the open and lets fly with a barrage of bombs.

Relan kills the swarm and stores his pole arm as Braelex moves out to throw a series of vicious explosives at the harpy. The fire hits a magical shield and much of it doesn't seem to get through, but the harpy still seems to be slightly singed from each of the blasts. She also catches a full breath of the cloud and begins to hack and cough.

Fort Save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16; fail

The harpy moves out of the cloud coughing, but otherwise doesn't act. From the eastern tower roof top (some 20 feet up) an arrow shoots out across the catwalk at Vuloo. He looks up to spy the catwoman with a drawn shortbow leaning out over the edge (the eastern side of the building has a third floor, so she is further up).

Kanya vs Vuloo: 1d20 + 10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 10 + 1 = 21; HIT!; Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5

Next to her on a small buttress, a tiny metal gear-shaped dragon (someone spied it earlier, Nalar?) alights and whips its tail forward firing a single globule of acid at Vuloo as well.

2 stories up, no, she is not reachable. Essentially youre on the second floor, she is on the roof of the third floor

Braelex, Relan and Andel all shoot at the harpy. Braelex and Relan each hit once, causing the harpy to flee east and up over onto the roof, out of sight.

Kanya fires her bow at Vuloo again, a rapid series of three arrows all striking. The clockwork dragon flies out to the middle of the air space, followed near immediately by an explosive sound of breaking glass and the appearance of a tall, thin man in his early thirties, with clean-cut good looks and finely tailored, close-fitting robes festooned with pouches, bandoleers, and strange, mechanical devices. The chisel of office hanging prominently from his belt identifies him as a member of the Ardoc family. His image is magically blurred. But perhaps the most unusual thing about him is the leather harness across his chest that secures a pair of golden, mechanical wings to his back. They whir, whine and click mechanically as he lurches awkwardly through the air from the now broken third story window, lining up near Petey to cast a spell.

The clockwork dragon fires an acid ball at Relan.

As the battle descends in chaos Nalar sees the man that he can only assume is Berkanin emerge from the third story window and fly around the corner, taking the opportunit he redirects his sleep to trigger around the corner.

"Andel come with me." He says, darting into the office to look out the window at the wizard. Locking eyes with his target he makes a few quick gestures, reaching out with his magic to scramble his target's mind.

Thyrl flies after it's master, placing a silver glowing paw on his shoulder, imparting some of it's grace. +1 to saves for 10 min

Relan's normal CMD is 31 vs grapple. I believe Haste adds +1 and Heroism adds +2, for a 34. I am not totally sure that both add, but it seems they should. Can I get a ruling?


They stack but heroism by itself is enough to avoid the grapple.


Wait a sec. Heroism adds to CMB not CMD. Tricky. Haste adds, but it isn't enough. Relan is still grappled.

"Gah, second time today!" Braelex exhales. She fights against the tentacles to grab a wand from her bandoleer. "Don't struggle, buddy. We are leaving..." she says to Relan as she activates the wand.

"... now!" They both appear -- free of the tentacles, if a bit dizzy -- on the far side of the bridge.

Dimension door... behind Andel.


Relan, the bow question is moot now, but as I am sure you know, the grappled condition prevents any action requiring two hands.

Nalar retargets his spell, bursting out south of the catwalk.

The man's head nods and bobs and he spirals down to the ground out of control. (Still want to follow up with a confusion on him?)

Braelex worms out her wand and grabs Relan teleporting the two of them across the catwalk, standing stunned with disorientation. Vuloo heals and Andel fires an arrow at the descensing Ardoc. (Unless he would retarget?)

The harpy continues to vomit up as the catwoman fires more arrows and the clockwork dragon shoots acid at Andel. (Holding off on rolls pending Nalar's confusion spell decision)
