Aidon,
I believe the quests/quest givers currently are:
Search the Crow for the next shard -- report back to Sheila (reward 4 PP + shard)
Solve the mystery of the kidnappings -- report to Lord Mayor (reward specified somewhere + 2PP)
Kill leader of the Tower Girls -- return to Natalya (reward unknown)

Weather
4712, the 15th of Gozran
Fulmen woke up feeling rested. He could still catch a whif of the stench of that rundown house they were in yesterday. It's going to take a week of hardcore bathing to get that stench he thought. His weather sense was telling him that it was going to be a balmy spring morning and would likely be overcast most of the day. At least the wind wouldn't be bad today, which is good since they were going across water. Hopefully, the water wouldn't be choppy. He packed up his things and headed out to meet the group at Heidmarch manor after checking up on Susan and giving the old girl a kiss on the nose. "There there now. I won't be one long"

+2 Int? I'm assuming you're adding the bonus from the ioun stone? If so, add it as a secondary number in your Int score like so: 13/15 or 13 (15), in case you end up swapping it, losing it, etc.
No, nevermind i misread what you said. So no +2 int.
That means i can spend 2 more skills or rank up right?
Still waiting for those last 2 skill points to be spent. Let me know!

So, I have had my posting frequency decrease lately, and I have realized that it is time that I face facts. I cannot continue for the time being, at least until I get my feet underneath me and I figure out how all this is going to work.
What is "this"? Well, I am starting med school this year. In about a month, actually. I also am in the middle of a move from Hawaii back to Michigan. And last but not least...I am an older student, so I haven't been "in" school since oh...1998.
To say I am nervous and a bit freaked would be an understatement. I just don't think that I can continue posting until I get settled in, get my study rhythm down and figure out what is what.
I am certain that I will be scratching the walls and looking for a good stress release in a few months, and will most likely return...probably to a game or two.
In any regard, its been a good two years of fun. I have really enjoyed this. I am certain that posting regularly has helped my writing and probably helped my career in the process. You guys are a fantastic community, wonderful brilliant and imaginative writers and just lovely people. Cheers and I hope to see you again in a few months.

Hey guys, really would like to know what's going on with everyone. I get that Dave is out and about for the next week or so and has limited access to the game. Everyone originally signed up to a post/day. I, myself, put a ton of work into prepping this and getting it ready and I'm trying hard to solicit another player or 2. But the only way this works is regular contribution from everyone.
Help me out here ... do I need to change something? We've been stalling in this room waiting on a party decision for most of the week. I'm trying to help seed conversation and liveliness with the NPCs, but without PC participation, this becomes me telling a story, which isn't what I really want to do.
Looking for feedback.
Sincerely,
Your concerned and flustered DM.

Relan |

Sorry. Honestly its become more difficult to play since work has gone into crunch mode and i dont have time during the day like i did ealier on. Im still enjoying the adventure but given my "newbie" status i feel like my character probably isnt setup correctly stat wise and im probably missing out on a few key options i dont remember or dont think of.
Another issue feels to me like we are missing any kind of discussion OOC with our opinions (or maybe we dont want any OOC) but thats making it harder to learn so im mostly taking in what others are saying.
Finally the biggest issue i can see that seems to be roadblocking us is the lack of clear leadership. Im never quite sure whos going where and when the events advance, the only time im really sure is when we have combat. Out of combat tends to confuse me so i wait for others to react first.
I am enjoying the game, its been a fun new experience. Ill defintely try to make more of an effort after work to at least get something in. My apologies for that.

DM Fflash |

Very accurate assessment, Relan. OOC discussion and leadership are key for your guys' side:
A party needs an emerging leader, and we had that one pretty well with Lorlenn. Unfortunately when he dropped, we didn't see anyone fill the void. It requires a bit of regular posting and some directed questions, i.e. "Braelex, what do you think about ... blah."
The OOC discussion between players is huge. You guys should act like you're around the table discussing what to do next. Fulmen asked some questions here recently. Good to discuss. And ask me questions OOC about what you see etc. I post fairly often, and will still do so even with the baby, but I can't drive the game.
I believe your character is statted pretty well. You have some skill deficiencies, but thats to be expected of fighters. You need to get some gear ... masterwork weapons etc., and the other, more experienced players should be able to assist with what you need and when. Some consumables could help to as they come along ... acid flasks, potions, and the like. Again, the others should be helping you.
Also, working together is key. Even on a skill you are bad at, you can roll against DC10 to give someone else a stacking +2 bonus with no penalty for failure (it's called Aid Other). Useful for low bonus characters.
FYI: I believe you still need to spend you ski
In the end, you can do anything. Just ask what the rule is and I or one of the others will tell you. Combat has action economy requirements per round: standard, move + swift or one full round action + swift. Outside of combat though, everything can be accomplished either through an existing rule or one that I need to make up. ll points from level up, which may help a bit.
I really like this adventure series and I think you guys would enjoy the story as it unfolds. This dungeon is one of the best low-level ones I've seen and I really don't want to end the adventure.
Chris told me a couple weeks ago he was coming back. Can you check with him?
I'm going to ping a third friend this week and see if I can get him in the game and drop one of the 2 NPCs based on his character.
More people gives more interaction.
Thanks for your commitment. I like your character's development. Put it out there, and I'll guide you if it's a bit outside the rules. No worries.

Aidon Jade Davian |

Aidon will kinda end up being the face of the party, from a stand point of trying to talk out way through things, be charming, etc. But he's also crazy, so we won't be able to count on any of his decision making skills when it comes to combat.
And honestly just as the newest player I am just feeling things out while I find Aidon's correct role.

Relan |

Also, Relan, since you're a new player, if you want to rework you character within the creation guidelines, I'm OK with that.
The rest of you clowns gotta suck it up :)
Thanks.
Not so much a rework (for the most part he seemed to be balanced out i thought, or at least i thought Lorlenn so. Could be wrong). Mostly i just need a better way of trackin my stats i dont think my googlesheet is right after that last level up :)

DM Fflash |

Dave is out until this weekend, so his input on the plan forward will likely have to wait until then, but you three can continue to discuss ideas.
My friend Charlie will be joining us shortly and I'll drop one of the NPCs, depending on what type of character he makes. If his character is done in time and we don't move much faster than we have this past couple weeks, he'll probably join in this upcoming encounter.

Vuloo |

Greetings all! Thanks for allowing me into the group. Vuloo is optimized to support the party primarily through healing, but also through buff spells and charisma based skills such as diplomacy, etc. I'm really looking forward to gaming with you all through the Shattered Star AP.
Starting HP: 11 + 1d8 + 2 + 1 ⇒ 11 + (7) + 2 + 1 = 21
Vuloo's background:
Vuloo is haunted by his dreams. The dreams portend a future of dark vistas and unspeakable evil. Within the mists of his visions the monuments of Magnimar dominate the dreamscape. Somehow the monuments from the ancient Varisia are associated with the coming doom. The sense of urgency within the dreams is quickening. He now desperately seeks the answers before it is too late. The dreams have drawn him to the underworld of Mangnimar. He now seeks to understand the future by working with the Sczarni to uncover clues of Varisia’s past. But Vuloo has increasingly found that the Sczarni criminal agenda is incompatible with his goals of saving his homeland. But he knows that Sarenrae must have a reason for bringing him here…

DM Fflash |

For Relan, I didn't fully explain nor implement the coup de grace correctly: here's the entry from the PRD
"An enemy can use a melee weapon to deliver a coup de grace to a helpless foe. An enemy can also use a bow or crossbow, provided he is adjacent to the target. The attacker automatically hits and scores a critical hit. (A rogue also gets his sneak attack damage bonus against a helpless foe when delivering a coup de grace.) If the defender survives, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + damage dealt) or die. Delivering a coup de grace provokes attacks of opportunity.
Creatures that are immune to critical hits do not take critical damage, nor do they need to make Fortitude saves to avoid being killed by a coup de grace"

Fulmen |

We never divided up the loot from Ayalya's room. Here's what we have:
Ayala carries the following:
2 empty vials that smell bitter,
3 tanglefoot bags,
a set of masterwork studded leather,
+1 bladed scarf,
masterwork composite shortbow with 20 arrows,
climber’s kit,
grappling hook with 50-foot silk rope,
masterwork thieves’ tools,
second-story harness.
Terisha carries the following:
3 potions of cure light wounds,
2 potions of lesser restoration,
smokestick,
2 tanglefoot bags;
masterwork chain shirt,
masterwork hand crossbow with 10 bolts,
masterwork short sword,
masterwork whip,
climber’s kit,
grappling hook with 50-foot silk rope,
second story harness,
a silver holy symbol of Hanspur, the Rat King,
thieves’ tools,
4 pp, 47 gp
These treasures are worth 900 gp in all.
There are also several journals on the table. They are written in Varisian.
A small chest under the bed in the southern area holds 87 gp and 175 sp.
masterwork chain shirt,
a masterwork rapier,
a magical pendant,
50 feet of silk rope, and a
leather pouch containing 250 gp.
There's not much here I can use. I'd like to claim: 1 CLW, 50ft silk rope. We need to identify the pendant. Let's grab the journals and if they're historical take them with us.
