Nemoris rips off a couple of shots, the first passing through the mist and completely missing the rogue-like thing. However, is second arrow catches the horc in the chest, puncturing a lung and causing the man to froth blood at the mouth. The enraged creature continues nearly unabated, almost gaining strength from the wound as it fights with wild abandon.

Nemoris, I'm going to reroll your crit damage since you used 1d20s instead of 1d8s

Nemoris steps back and fires a barrage of arrows, but then realizes they all pass through the mage's location without harming him. Nemoris notes the wizard's tracks are several feet away from where he is standing.

Nowzai bleeds.

The horc spits out a tooth and glares at Nemoris stepping to follow him whirling his sword in a dazzling display of precision expertise. With three deadly swings he carves into the ranger blood flying from the viciously powerful wounds

Dalamus moves around the misty woman and sets into her with his blade but misses as she dodges out of the way. He cuts through her on his third strike, but it hits her image, destroying it with a shattering of pieces.

The white wizard steps up the stairs and defensively casts a spell at Sam, obviously able to see the invisible magus, waving his rod and not moving his lips. A bolt of ice fires out at Sam who leaps to dodge out of the way but catches frigid cold nonetheless. The bolt continues behind him blasting a chuck of stone out of the wall.

Epik heals Nowzai drawing a cold stare from the rogue, who sheathes her sword and whips out a rod similar to the mage's impossibly fast. She casts a spell defensively and her hand turns to black and she reaches out to brush Dalamus with it causing him to convulse in agony.

Nemoris fires off a ton of arrows shooting slightly to the left, but only one strikes. It's a brutal one though as the arrow embeds itself in the wizard's kidney and elicits a cry of surprise and agony. The white haired man stumbles but continues his dance with Sam.

Nowzai transports himself to the top of a nearby roof.

The massive creature you came to originally intercept stares at Epik as the paladin bears down on him although the paladin's words do not come through the silence. He steps back and bides his time, preparing for the paladin's approach.

Round 3

Magma steps to attack the misty woman swinging hard but is unable to connect with either blow.

Epik rises, drawing an opportune attack from the beast flailing the paladin with a wicked wound once again. Epik moves in to close with the creature, greatsword at the front.

The misty woman, assuming Dalamus is done for, steps away from the rogue and lashes out at Nemoris with her rapier, which appears so suddenly in her hand, you think it might be magic. She stabs at him twice striking once, the evil and disruptive energy ripping through the ranger. With her off hand she drops the rod she's carrying and spins a circle reaching out to grab the clasps of his Periapt of Wisdom +2.. and with a flick of her wrist, slips it slyly off the ranger's head ending up holding it in her hand like a shield! (Steal combat maneuver for the "WTF!"s out there ... originally went for the quiver, but after a second read, considered it strapped like a backpack and while SUPER COOL! ultimately not possible. Didn't want to change the roll to an attack, so went with another item)

Nemoris steps off the street and smoothly looses a pair of arrows off a single string that drive straight into the woman in the mist causing her to grunt in pain. Several more arrows pass through the mist without effect.

Nowzai shoots a thin green beam that strikes the dragon-taur's chain, hitting it perfectly and causing it to explode in shimmering motes of light leaving the beast staring dumbly at his hands.

Magma steps back and swings his hammer wide, but distracted by the ongoings behind him can't seem to find anything solid. Dalamus steps up to support him and gouges the woman once causing a flash of light that momentarily stuns him.

Dalamus, make a DC15 Will Save or be stunned 1 round

The wizard seeing the melee turning and noting Sam above him, curses aloud and runs forward a bit casting a spell and massive blast of cold and ice sprays down the alley hitting everyone in the alley except Sam and Epik, stopping just short of the paladin. The misty woman is enshrouded in a blue energy field as the cold hits her, protecting her from harm.Saves below

Spellcraft DC25:

The spell is cone of cold

Sam rips a spell at him and a thin line of force catches the wizard in the shoulder as the magus zings toward him and extreme speed and ends with his scimitar sticking out of the Irrisen man's chest and his knee in his back. The dead wizard's face is still stuck in a rictus grin from his momentarily successful spell.

The perplexed beast overcomes his surprise at no longer having a chain and inhales deepl before expelling a blast of acid back through Epik and down the alley way. Saves below

Epik retaliates, getting his first blow home and cutting easily through the dragon-like creature's hide. The beast gets wise and with armored forearms is able to deflect and parry the next two blows.

The misty woman slips her rapier back into her belt and picks up the rod (provoking AoOs from Dalamus, Magma) & Nemoris, defensively casting a spell and then taking off in a burst of speed down the alley slipping gracefully through the combatants (Doesn't provoke AoOs).

Alley Ambush Round 4 cont

Nemoris snaps off a shot at the woman as she picks up her rod, catching her in the shoulder just as Dalamus cuts her side. Bleeding profusely and holding her arm as she runs, the ranger fires several more arrows, missing a couple times as the other combatants get in the way, but finally he catches her square in the back. She cries out once and flies forward with her hands up landing face down the ground. The mist disappears in a puff of blackness. She lies there in a cloak and blacked chain mail.

Nowzai, having lost his target for the tentacles fires a sound orb that pulses forward, but when it hits the edge of the silence it fizzles into nothingness.

Round 5

Magma strikes the beast once as Dalamus stares down the creature. (Retcon action here if you get something in soon)

Sam blinds the beast with an explosion of glittering light. It roars and lashes out at Epik with his massive claws, teeth and horns. It's inability to see severely hampers it and the armored paladin only catches one blow in the chest.

The paladin, however, can see, and carves the unable to dodge flailing half dragon into small smoking pieces with three Iomedae-inspired blows.

Dalamus will step to Jenya and look to see if there is anything he can do. Realizing she is gone, he will shake his head to the group and move over to the other bodies.

"Let's quickly collect what we can. This was clearly an ambush, and there could be others watching us. Then let's get back to the Inn and tend to our wounds."

we can't leave dead bodies in the street. let pull the magical gear, equipment, and any clues we can from the bodies. Then we can play someone to burn the bodies.

can we use a speak with dead to find out who sent them?


Gathering up the bodies, they are all actually dead ... no one lingering on given the massive bloody wounds you gave them. The wizard and the woman are both human.

Jenya is, unfortunately, also dead having had her life drawn out by the woman's disruptive energy on her blade.

You find a single note upon the wizard that lists your names and a brief description of each of you along with a list of locations that seem to be places you frequent: Drunken Morkoth, Skies, Bluecrater, Weer's Elixirs, Gurtheon's Smithy.

The mark at the bottom of the page looks like the roman numeral II with the top of the second character moved down to be in line with the middle of the first.

You find the following magical items: a large chain shirt, a cloak, 4 rings, 8 potions, a wand, 2 rods, bracers, 3 amulets, linen wrappings (white, on the wizard), a greatsword, a set of chainmail, a rapier, a breastplate, a light steel quickdraw shield, and a belt.

Epik is stricken with grief upon realizing that Jenya has fallen. With a heavy heart, and tears streaming down his face, Epik picks up the body of Jenya and begins walking back to the Temple of Iomedae.

I will suggest we stick together until we are somewhere safe, I will accompany Epik with Jenya's body


Temple of Iomedae

Heading back to the temple, you find it now several hours later to be empty of parishioners. Without all the press of people, you notice the stark contrast to how it used to be. Nearly all the ornamentation and sculpture has been removed. Murals and paintings have been replaced with fresh coats of paint and the entire place is exceptionally clean and somewhat bare. Acolytes are scrubbing floors and polishing pews as you enter.

It doesn't take long for them to.realize the situation and several tear up immediately dropping mops and fleeing the room. Others wrestle to keep their emotions in check.

Ruphus, the acolyte you rescued a year ago from a group of Last Laugh thugs, now a full priest, comes forward and with a strained voice asks, "How did this happen?"

He immediately directs two acolytes to take Jenna's body and move her to one of the side rooms to prepare her.
