Nowzai struggles to keep his emotions in check. "We have the weapon here, if it will aid in her restoration."
Epik fills in any details that Nowzai misses. "Jenja sacfriced herself to save the city. Call the bishop at once. We must save her if possible."
"Assassin's? Who would try to assassinate you? You guys are heroes!" Ruphus asks, truly incredulous.
To Epik he shakes his head and runs his hand through his hair." I'll let him know, but I doubt he will be able to do much. All the refugee housing, feeding and healing has drained the Temple treasury. We've sold the valuable art from inside to keep getting by. We just don't have the materials to breathe life back into Jenya, right now."

"Well assassins always go after those who rattle cages, I guess we are doing something right to upset the right people" Sam smiles, "Excuse me I need to speak to Dalamus" With that, he steps outside
Epik nods at Ruphus. "Let me come with you brother. I'm concerned with how he will react. There's no need for you to get in the middle of this."
"You say the treasury is drained, how much would it cost to bring Jenya back?"
Dalamus will follow Sam outside
Ruphus replies to Dalamus. "It's not simply a matter of coin. We no longer have any diamonds for the spell. We sold them long ago. It's been a long time since someone has been adept enough to cast the spell. I'm certain the Bishop could, though."
He nods to Epik and leads him back down a long hallway to a set of rich mahogany doors. Knocking twice and then hesitating a moment, Ruphus pushes the rightmost door.open for Epik to enter, announcing him as he does so. "Sir Epik Aegeous, Oath bound, Order of Mendev."
The Bishop still in his complete ceremonial regalia sits at a massive black polished mahogany desk scratching on a document with a swan feather quill and silver ink pot. A lit silver candelabra and a massive metal bound book rest on the desk next to him.
Without looking up, he replies tersely, "Back so soon?"
As Epik heads back and you wait in the chapel, Alakast buzzes and speaks, "It's has been some time since I was last here. This Cauldron is similar to.the one I remember. The streets are laid out the same and many of the buildings remain but this Temple is different. It was a Church of Aroden, as I recall. Did they get run out of town? I do not recognize this symbol here."

Epik drops to one knee and bows his head. "I bring dire news. Jenya was slain while battling the monstrous fiend that was terrorizing the city. She sacrificed herself to save Cauldron - she is a hero. I know that you may think to blame myself and my friends for her death, and I will tell you that we would have saved her if we could. She is, unfortunately, the latest casualty in the war being waged against this city by the forces of evil. I humbly request that the Church raise Jenya so that she may continue the fight. If it is a matter of resources, we will secure whatever components are required for the spell."

Nowzai breaks his long silence, his demeanor deadly serious. "You are acting like a petulant child, not the leader of a temple. One does not deny the blessings of the gods because of bruised pride or maligned ego. She is worthy of Iomedae's grace, and you will grant it... unless, that is, you have fallen from grace yourself. The enlightened Old Man you worship obviously spends too much time focused inward, else you would have learned some sort of tact in the many years you've some how managed to not get yourself killed. Epik, your companions are no longer welcome at the Temple. You can atone for their idiocy in whatever way you see fit. Begone. "

Seething with barely contained rage Sam will say, "Damn that man. We do have a couple of other options. We can try and see if anyone at the Chisle can help us, not sure who all is there. Nidrama may be able to help, I am not sure what she is allowed to do but she might be willing and able to help."
I have scanned his mind. He does not have an aura of either evil or chaos. He is a rigid man, but his thoughts match his statements and actions, although ... ah, it is nothing.

It's really nothing. Perhaps it's my own misunderstanding of humans and your hierarchy. This man is a powerful priest of your kind. Supposedly one with an immense understanding of self, great wisdom for a mortal, and divinely inspired willpower. I'm surprised I can read his thoughts at all.

Take care of your actions Bishop, you are not behaving like a devote or holy leader, but like someone who is out of his depth. You do not seem to be helping the situation here, but instead making it worse. Perhaps you look to further your own gains?

I can't craft much myself, but if someone wants a bow or arrows, I'm happy to make one. I'll refill on arrows, should just take me 3-4 days to craft another 100 regular arrows and 50 of the silvered and cold iron (I don't have my crafting spreadsheet here, but I'll roll those up and post the exact times and costs asap).

The spell the Bishop cast doesn't seem to have an obvious effect on any of you. The Bishop casts another spell, much quicker and you recognize this one as silence . He sits back down at his desk and ignores you all.

You enter the shady room below Bogdan's and wait for few minutes before a shadow detaches in complete Red Mantis armor. "Brother, it seems He who walks in Blood has blessed you with the Chosen's blade."
He doesn't sound pleased.
"We have another contract for you ... the leader of the Last Laugh Guild has been commissioned. Use your compatriots to figure out who he is and where he might be. I believe the guild has captured one of your associates. This may get you on the right path."

Dalamus thinks about what he has heard, pacing about the room, then begins to ask some questions.
"Do you know the leader's name? I want to be sure to find the right mark. Who is this associate that you think has been captured?"
"I do have another question that you may have some information on. I am looking for a sizable diamond that I can acquire, do you know who may have one and where it would be?"
"One final question for you brother, and it as about our order. Is this our only meeting location, or are there are other places that I might be able to get contracts, information or anything else?"
Your Mantis contact chuckles, "That's the beauty of the task. No one knows who the leader is, let alone his name. Do your due diligence and, as always, be sure to kill the right one with the blade and make it known the Mantis are responsible."

You swing by the Temple of Pharasma and find the gates closed, a note penned and nailed to the masonry wall.

You stop by the Vhanlantru estate and find it guarded by two of the Blue Duke's half-orc mercenaries, the first you've seen since you've returned to the city.
"The councilman isn't seeing visitors today," one states bluntly, a serious and stony expression on his face.
Epik pulls at the gate to verify it is locked. "Dalamus, under the circumstances, I don't think the clergy will mind if we let ourselves in. Can you open the lock?"
Epik smiles grimly at the half orc. "My friend, we have important business to discuss with the Duke. Business that the Duke will care about. Please kindly tell him we are here. He should remember us - I am Epik Aegious."
Dalamus will head back to catch up with Sam
