Nowzai al'Nazari |
"We were ambushed. A cabal of skilled assassins led by a half-dragon minotaur. They were well-prepared for us, and attacked with strong magic. I was incapacitated in moments, and Jenya fell beside me. We were both struck by a black-metal rapier that drained life essence. She took a mortal strike..." Nowzai struggles to keep his emotions in check. "We have the weapon here, if it will aid in her restoration."
Epik |
Epik fills in any details that Nowzai misses. "Jenja sacfriced herself to save the city. Call the bishop at once. We must save her if possible."
DMFflash |
"Assassin's? Who would try to assassinate you? You guys are heroes!" Ruphus asks, truly incredulous.
To Epik he shakes his head and runs his hand through his hair." I'll let him know, but I doubt he will be able to do much. All the refugee housing, feeding and healing has drained the Temple treasury. We've sold the valuable art from inside to keep getting by. We just don't have the materials to breathe life back into Jenya, right now."

"Well assassins always go after those who rattle cages, I guess we are doing something right to upset the right people" Sam smiles, "Excuse me I need to speak to Dalamus" With that, he steps outside
Epik |
Epik nods at Ruphus. "Let me come with you brother. I'm concerned with how he will react. There's no need for you to get in the middle of this."
Dalamus Othreleth |
"You say the treasury is drained, how much would it cost to bring Jenya back?"
Dalamus will follow Sam outside
DMFflash |
Ruphus replies to Dalamus. "It's not simply a matter of coin. We no longer have any diamonds for the spell. We sold them long ago. It's been a long time since someone has been adept enough to cast the spell. I'm certain the Bishop could, though."
He nods to Epik and leads him back down a long hallway to a set of rich mahogany doors. Knocking twice and then hesitating a moment, Ruphus pushes the rightmost door.open for Epik to enter, announcing him as he does so. "Sir Epik Aegeous, Oath bound, Order of Mendev."
The Bishop still in his complete ceremonial regalia sits at a massive black polished mahogany desk scratching on a document with a swan feather quill and silver ink pot. A lit silver candelabra and a massive metal bound book rest on the desk next to him.
Without looking up, he replies tersely, "Back so soon?"
As Epik heads back and you wait in the chapel, Alakast buzzes and speaks, "It's has been some time since I was last here. This Cauldron is similar to.the one I remember. The streets are laid out the same and many of the buildings remain but this Temple is different. It was a Church of Aroden, as I recall. Did they get run out of town? I do not recognize this symbol here."

Epik |
Epik drops to one knee and bows his head. "I bring dire news. Jenya was slain while battling the monstrous fiend that was terrorizing the city. She sacrificed herself to save Cauldron - she is a hero. I know that you may think to blame myself and my friends for her death, and I will tell you that we would have saved her if we could. She is, unfortunately, the latest casualty in the war being waged against this city by the forces of evil. I humbly request that the Church raise Jenya so that she may continue the fight. If it is a matter of resources, we will secure whatever components are required for the spell."

Also, let me know if it translates well enough for you to understand.

"Let me know what I can do to help, I don't have many contacts in this town but once you find the diamond, I will be ready"
Nemoris |
I'll certainly contribute to getting the materials needed to resurrect Jenya. She fell fighting beside us, we can do no less.
[ooc]You know I'm not upright, especially if we can threaten or fight our way into getting a diamond, I'm in![/ooc}
DMFflash |
The Bishop continues to write for a long moment, still not looking up. "You led her down the bloody path and she was slain. Exactly as I told her would happen when she threw her lot in with you. No, I shall not raise her. I warned her of the consequences and she chose to take the risk. It will be a lesson to the others here that they can't just run off and do whatever they please without concern for the ramifications. She was a worthy woman. I am certain Iomedae has welcomed her soul."

Nowzai al'Nazari |
Nowzai breaks his long silence, his demeanor deadly serious. "You are acting like a petulant child, not the leader of a temple. One does not deny the blessings of the gods because of bruised pride or maligned ego. She is worthy of Iomedae's grace, and you will grant it... unless, that is, you have fallen from grace yourself. Perhaps in concert with those who are twisting this city to evil?"
*
Epik |
Epik nods, "I am greatly saddened by your decision, but I respect your position in the Church and therefore I will not question your Wisdom. May Iomedae guide Jenya's soul."
Epik turns to Nowzai, "We have no choice but to honor his lawful authority."
DMFflash |
Raising Jenya
The Bishop is not amused. He stops writing and stares hard at Nowzai, "Go back to your books and pursuit of self perfection, wizard. The enlightened Old Man you worship obviously spends too much time focused inward, else you would have learned some sort of tact in the many years you've some how managed to not get yourself killed. Epik, your companions are no longer welcome at the Temple. You can atone for their idiocy in whatever way you see fit. Begone. "
He waves his hand dismissively.
Securing a diamond
Magma checks in with Gurzenon who seems quite busy, apparently repairing and reforging arms and armor for some of the Guard who've returned from the siege.
In response to Magmas question about diamond components, he shrugs. "These days, I'd guess the only ones with those items would be the noble houses. Doubt they are for sale."

Sam will wait until we all step out of the church before saying anything
Seething with barely contained rage Sam will say, "Damn that man. We do have a couple of other options. We can try and see if anyone at the Chisle can help us, not sure who all is there. Nidrama may be able to help, I am not sure what she is allowed to do but she might be willing and able to help."
Are there any other churches in town that would have a priest high enough to cast a raise dead?
DM Fflash |
Ike Iverson from the Temple of Pharasma raised Nowzai several months back
Kristoff Jurgenson from the Shrine of Saranrae is the only priest there. He wasn't too capable last time you engaged with him, but it's been a long time.
You've never gone to the Church of Cayden Cailen ... at least not the formal one. You've been to a bunch of informal houses of worship, also known as taverns.
Epik |
Epik leads the others outside. "Let's try the Church of Pharasma. They aided Nowzai before and they may be able to help Jenya."
DMFflash |
It's really nothing. Perhaps it's my own misunderstanding of humans and your hierarchy. This man is a powerful priest of your kind. Supposedly one with an immense understanding of self, great wisdom for a mortal, and divinely inspired willpower. I'm surprised I can read his thoughts at all.

DMFflash |
I will suggest we start with Ike and work our way down that list. Anyone in Chisle?
The Chisel is an organization. They are headquartered in Redgorge. Likely the target of the current siege by the Town Guard (the whole event you were trying to head off with the Alex Tercival thing)

Thank you Elder
i will check with our friends who barter and sell goods to see if they know of anyone looking to sell a diamond. i will cast gentle respose on jenya until we find a diamond and a priest.
Nowzai al'Nazari |
Nowzai shakes his head at the man. "You cannot channel Iomedae's grace, can you?"
Does that strike me as significant, that a high priest would not be a mid-high level cleric? Just to put it in frame of reference for your campaign world... i.e., if a definite yes, then I'd be more inclined to call this dude out as a charlatan, vs. not unheard of, so I'd just leave it alone.

Raising Jenya
"It's proof you need, you insolent ... gah! I can't be bothered with you, I have more important things to do." The Bishop stands, flush with anger and clenching his fists for a moment before relaxing them and then reaching for the clasp of his cassock, two golden dogs embracing a sword. He swings his hand around him, his voice resonating with power as he speaks, intoning a spell.
If you wish to act, you may roll initiative, or you can let him cast his spell. If the latter, roll a Will Save

Gentle repose is a 2nd level spell, can Magma cast that?

bishop we only wish to raise our battle companion. Jenya has fought the evil that plagues the Cauldron, she would want to see this battle through. if you can't help us raise her, could you help us with a speak with the dead on the assassins to see who sent them to kill us.
thank you bishop for your time, may Iomedae bless you for your kindness and wisdom.
Epik |
Epik turns to the others, Let's first take Jenya over to the Temple of Pharasma. We can also take the opportunity to ask them on what's going on with their spire - assuming they will even speak to us. After that, I think we need to speak to Lord Vhalantru. I am concerned that both the major and city guard have disappeared - conveniently providing him the opportunity to seize power. Let's find out what's going on."
Epik leads the way to the Temple of Pharasma.

Is it bad I just want to shoot him?
Take care of your actions Bishop, you are not behaving like a devote or holy leader, but like someone who is out of his depth. You do not seem to be helping the situation here, but instead making it worse. Perhaps you look to further your own gains?
Will Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Crafting
I can't craft much myself, but if someone wants a bow or arrows, I'm happy to make one. I'll refill on arrows, should just take me 3-4 days to craft another 100 regular arrows and 50 of the silvered and cold iron (I don't have my crafting spreadsheet here, but I'll roll those up and post the exact times and costs asap).
I also can't remember if there was someone in town that could enchant weapons and/or armor. Did I have to travel to the other town when I bumped up my bow last time?
If Sam has time, what I'm really looking for is gloves of dueling, or an upgrade on my belt of physical strength. I have cash for both/either! :)
DM Fflash |
Raising Jenya - Iomedae
Honestly, I don't think the Temple would've allowed you all to wander back to the Bishop's office. I thought Epik was going alone, but for the sake of where we're at, I'll just play along.
The spellcraft spoiler above for Nowzai is as much information as you can get
The spell the Bishop cast doesn't seem to have an obvious effect on any of you. The Bishop casts another spell, much quicker and you recognize this one as silence (No save required from anyone). He sits back down at his desk and ignores you all.
Crafting
I'll just update you guys on how many days pass as we do things and you all tick off what you get done during that time
Nemoris: As for shopping, there is no one around that can enchant willy nilly any more. You have Skie, you have your crafters, and you have access to your factions' various lists. The city that Nemoris went to several months ago to upgrade [ooc[(Now called Osibu in our Pathfinder conversion) mysteriously cut off communication with the outside world and caravans no longer go there[/ooc]
Securing a Diamond
You enter the shady room below Bogdan's and wait for few minutes before a shadow detaches in complete Red Mantis armor. "Brother, it seems He who walks in Blood has blessed you with the Chosen's blade."
He doesn't sound pleased.
"We have another contract for you ... the leader of the Last Laugh Guild has been commissioned. Use your compatriots to figure out who he is and where he might be. I believe the guild has captured one of your associates. This may get you on the right path."
"Have you questions?"

Dalamus Othreleth |
Dalamus thinks about what he has heard, pacing about the room, then begins to ask some questions.
"Do you know the leader's name? I want to be sure to find the right mark. Who is this associate that you think has been captured?"
"I do have another question that you may have some information on. I am looking for a sizable diamond that I can acquire, do you know who may have one and where it would be?"
I don't remember if I asked this question in the beginning
"One final question for you brother, and it as about our order. Is this our only meeting location, or are there are other places that I might be able to get contracts, information or anything else?"

Securing a Diamond
Your Mantis contact chuckles, "That's the beauty of the task. No one knows who the leader is, let alone his name. Do your due diligence and, as always, be sure to kill the right one with the blade and make it known the Mantis are responsible."
"The associate is one of those so-called Striders. One of the half-elves. I cannot keep their names straight."
"As for the diamond, there are few places left that would keep that kind of item. I am no fence nor thief," he says with distaste before continuing, "but I would assume one of the still wealthy noble houses like Vhalantru or Rhiavadi or perhaps even the Last Laugh themselves if you find yourselves in their guild house some how."
"In Cauldron, this is the only place you will find us, but should you perform well, we may be able to connect you more ... remotely."

Missing Mayor
You stop by the Vhanlantru estate and find it guarded by two of the Blue Duke's half-orc mercenaries, the first you've seen since you've returned to the city.
"The councilman isn't seeing visitors today," one states bluntly, a serious and stony expression on his face.

Epik pulls at the gate to verify it is locked. "Dalamus, under the circumstances, I don't think the clergy will mind if we let ourselves in. Can you open the lock?"
